Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

It's Kirsten Gillibrand!
Why, of course! How could we not know it would be her! Silly New Yorkers.
I think he chose her for one simple reason - to help him get elected in 2010. Paterson will be running for election for Gov for the first time . Since he is from NYC he probably (and rightfully) believes his level of support there is higher than Upstate. Gillibrand represents a district that extends from Poughkeepsie to the Adirondacks which was held by Republicans for many years until she was elected in 2006.Guess who is going to be standing next to Paterson on his Upstate campaign swings?
Paterson wanted someone from upstate. Fine. But to pick someone with all of two years service in the House? How can Paterson possibly claim she's the best person for the job? He may have just won over a bunch of upstaters and moderates with this obviously political pick, but NYC libs control the $$$ and they're gonna be POed! Paterson just left Gillibrand and himself open to primary challenges in 2010.
We (NYC) would have been much better off with Caroline Kennedy or Carolyn Mahoney. Patterson is proving to be another upstate mook unconcerned with where the money has come from and continues to come from. We should bring back the NYC commuter tax, or leave the state. WTF does NY State do for NYC besides help the landlords soak the tenants? Albany politics make Chicago's look clean.

I wonder what she's done recently for Governor Patterson?
