More Pimping of Stuy Town?

A reader of this blog sent in the following photos of a supposed "legal notice" placed on an Oval lamppost warning Stuyvesant Town residents that the Oval grounds are being used for a TV shoot of a series produced by Style Kings Production, and that if you enter the area you approve to have your image used, etc., etc.

I wasn't able to find any information online about a "Style Kings Production," so at this point I'm assuming that this notice was put up by some amateur filmmakers (ie, film students) and that Stuy Town hasn't approved it. Hopefully this is not legit. Otherwise, another inconvenience as landlord Tishman Speyer keeps on pimping the complex.

  1. I think last night's "art war" at the Oval was being shot with a couple of handheld cameras, so that explains the phony, "throughout the universe" legal notice. (And never mind the misspelling of 'therefore.')

"YO, YO! WHO'S READY TO ETCH, YA'LL!"

  2. By entering the property we consent ... blah blah blah? How about they get our consent because we live here! I have serious doubts about the legality of that notice!

  3. I think that its time that the oval get a gate, lock, and all of us get some keys to NYC 3rd private park...

Check out my blog about the city's 2nd private park Locks from other people not picking up after their dogs people!

  4. Art Battles regularly film their events for their website. They had permission:

  5. This was a further violation of usage of the common areas for commercial gain.

Stuyvesant Town is zoned for residential use and residential use ONLY.

All of the Oval Amenities (including the concierge service) violate that zoning, and all these commercially sponsored events violate the zoning.

All the artwork was for sale. This was a strictly commercial event that appropriated the common space with no benefit to the community.

Why nobody is burning Tishman's ass for this is beyond me. We deserve a rent reduction.

  6. "Therefor" and "therefore" are two different words.

  7. Mayor Bloombluster's friends can do anything they want. They are above the law, as is he.
