Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Bloomberg Wins, But Only By 5%
According to the final results it wasn't the blow-out that was expected. 49% of New Yorkers voted AGAINST Bloomberg, with 46% voting for Bill Thompson. Considering the amount of obscene money Bloomberg spent in this election, this margin of victory is pathetic. But, of course, His Royal Arrogance won't get the message.
And over at the NY Times an analysis of just how Bloomberg won and how important Democrats (including President Obama), with a complicit New York media, stood aside to let him win. Read it and weep.
Obama has lost my vote. Asshole!
ReplyDeleteI hope the New Yorkers who didn't turn out to vote for Thompson because they thought it was a lost cause are feeling really disgusted with themselves. Maybe it's time to make voting mandatory, like jury duty.
ReplyDeleteIt was sad to see in the NYT online maps that Bloomberg carried Stuy Town and PCV. It's hard to believe that a majority of voters in our community either didn't understand the difference between Bloomberg's and Thompson's positions on rent stabilization and MCIs or just didn't care.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but I think our community, which is chiefly white, voted for the white (safe) candidate. To them, Thompson brought up bad memories of Dinkens and crime, etc. They voted for supposed physical security over housing security. Wasn't that Giuliani's message when he spoke in favor of Bloomberg to Brooklyn's Hasidic community?
