Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Oval Football Showing: Another FAIL
About 30 people when I was there. Mostly kids, who were already fidgeting and will get quickly bored. Terrible quality, btw. You may as well stay home or go to a bar.
Another dumb idea from Rose Associates and Lady Maya (who was around for the set-up).
And another waste of resources, including the overuse of security, about five of whom were stationed inside the playground.
With all that security inside the playground and watching the game, they couldn't see the woman with the pitbulls who took a tour of the Oval with her dogs around the same time:
Yup, she's back!....
Non-Stuy Town Resident Terrorizes....
Also seen: A couple with one pitbull and a dog-walker with a German shepherd, another illegal dog in Stuyvesant Town, and all on a tour of the Oval also.
BTW, a note to Security: I've received reports and have seen it for myself that someone in 510 East 20 St (near Lenz's) is housing a pit or a pit-mix. The owner feeds his dog chunks of meat on a bone right in front of the building!
There are bulldogs and pitbulls all over Sty Town. What I would like to know is WHEN is Adam Rose going to earn his paycheck from CWC and start actually managing the property? We tenants are entitled to basic services such as having the buildings cleaned on a regular basis. They just touched up the paintwork in the halls in my building, but god forbid they would vacuum the fucking dirty carpet! This Adam Rose character is a sheister and the soon he and his sleazy company are replaced by a real management company the better.
ReplyDeleteThe football event is kind of reminiscent of "The Longest Yard." You've got the big game, security fences and jack-booted thugs at every corner.
ReplyDeleteIf this weren't such a low-budget event, maybe Burt Reynolds would have made an appearance...
Bulldogs are accepted in Stuy Town, but not pitbulls or German shepherds.
ReplyDeleteIf something is a mix, technically it's legal. It's not right, but it's legal.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about the rules on pitbulls, they will soon be changed to allow pitbulls. This is what Rose did with the dog rules, the bicycle rules and most recently, the dumping rules, none of which have been enforced by the useless security force. It is the Rose way.
ReplyDeleteIts great that Rose spends money on mega marketing events while the interiors of the buildings are not maintained and the rest of the place continues to deteriorate.

ReplyDeleteAs you said, it is the Rose way.
The carpeting in our hallway hadn't been vacuumed in MONTHS - I know this because one apt. had a lock replaced and the fallen plaster from the drilling never was removed, and the carpet was becoming more and more filthy. I finally called management and complained - the next day some dude was vacuuming the hallway. Big whoopdeedoo. It used to be done on a weekly basis.
ReplyDeleteDisgusting Adam Rose.
These carpets should be taken up. They are seldom vacuumed and never shampooed. They harbor all kinds of cooties! They should go back to the old rubber flooring which could be mopped.
ReplyDeleteI agree with 1112am.
ReplyDeleteToo bad though. The carpeting did make the hallways much quieter.
However if management would rather spend money on carnivals and movie nights rather than clean the carpets, then you certainly have a valid point.
The elevators were getting nasty until they ripped out the carpeting in them.
Totally off topic I know, but I see that on the other blog LL is getting grief over Rose's request for tenants to update their contact info and some folks are saying it is a "fishing expedition." Couldn't disagree more. It is an excellent initiative. I updated my contact info online today and I was glad to do so. I want them to know who to contact if I croak or am hospitalized whatever. I have pets and my contact person will be over in a flash if contacted.
ReplyDeleteNot everything Rose does has an ulterior motive behind it. True the intercom system is a rip-off, especially since it doesn't work half the time and isn't as good as the old system, but that was a Tishman Speyer (oh how I hate those two words!) "initiative." Rose is trying to do the right thing. They have been very positively responsive to my bitching and whining about a noisy neighbor and I think they are doing the best they can with what little they've got. The TS (puke) regime left behind a sorry mess and a huge sinkhole of debt. In a just society Rob Speyer would have his dirty ass thrown in jail for what he did. However, this is America and the greedy and stupid rule, unfortunately. Thanks for letting me have this little vent (in the event you decide to publish it).
Thanks for publishing my little "vent!" I have a question: these Oval nonsensicals, are they actually paid for out of Rose's housekeeping budget for the property or are they franchises that pay to use the property? If they are franchises (and I think that American Leisure might be)then they may not drain anything from the operating budget. Whether or not they are an enhancement is debatable, depending on whom you ask!
ReplyDeleteGood question. I'm not sure, but certainly American Leisure works hand in hand with management, so ST/PCV personnel are being used here. As for all the Oval events, they can't be profitable because there is no charge. So the question becomes is an outside franchise just pissing money away by holding these things? Very doubtful. Also, all these events ARE being used in promos for ST/PCV, which more than hints at the source for their funding.
