Oh, he's a Stuy Town resident if you didn't know.
Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Garland Jeffreys around Stuy Town
I became a Garland Jeffreys' fan since I saw him at one of the summer events here. (Gasp! yes, I was there, seduced by the music.) Here's a video that's making the rounds, including on the TA Facebook page, posted there by Edmund. It's a beautiful day in Stuy Town today, so let's enjoy it and the music....
Hey, that's great.
ReplyDeleteNo disrespect to his talent or acumen but shouldn't we be happier to see him perform elsewhere?
Shall we start selecting food trucks that meet our approval for parking in the Oval?
I always stated that I have no problems with the occasional music event. I think one to celebrate the summer and one to mark its passing is fine. And I'd put Garland Jeffreys in one of those concerts. The problem with the Powers That Be is that they insist that "something must always be happening" here, so that fill up the summer with events, film showings, circus acts, when people, in general, just wish to enjoy the grounds on a nice sunny day and mellow evening.
ReplyDeleteSure. But, once the camel get's his nose in the tent, you may quickly find yourself out in the sand.
ReplyDeleteYou will never get to select the groups that perform but you may have a say in whether or not there are performances here at all.
I think you should give this some more thought.
This isn't a performance, it's just a music video. I'm usually 100% in accord with the long timers here (no concerts, no dogs, no oval atrocities, etc.) but I can't say I have a problem with GJ filming a music video at the Sty. I actually kind of like it.
ReplyDeleteNot impressed.
ReplyDeleteNote under the door tonight from CompassCrock...no more garbage disposal bin in the recycling areas starting Monday.
ReplyDeleteProblem solved!
Now people will just put their garbage in with the other recyclables...
I really enjoyed this song. Thanks for posting.

ReplyDeleteReally? I still haven't received this note.
"Really? I still haven't received this note."
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just my building for now. Kind of like a test market?!?
In addition to the note, they've been jackhammering in the compactor room for several days now. They hauled out several wheelbarrows full of busted up concrete. Maybe they plan to renovate it and rent it out as a basement apartment at a discount--as long as you are willing to bag and haul out the trash once a day! Seriously, they're up to something down there.

I already solved the problem for myself a while ago. EVERYTHING down the chute.
Totally off topic, I know, but maybe STR will let this through. Warning to AOL users. I received an email purportedly from AOL Help Desk warning me that they were going to deactivate my account unless I gave them some information. The information they wanted was EVERYTHING! Social Security #, mother's maiden name, password, just about everything that I keep secret! I called AOL and they said it was spam and not to answer any of these questions. They said it is a phishing email. It looked very real. Also been getting calls from different numbers asking me for info about my computer. Just hang up on them. Friends have been getting same boiler room calls. Thank you. ps. It takes a few minutes to get through to a person at AOL, and it is (of course) somebody in India; however, he was very, very helpful.
ReplyDeleteWhy do some people think the rules don't apply to them? I understand that the sections of grass and trees that have fencing around them are off limits. Doesn't stop some broad from sprawling herself and her beach paraphernalia om an fenced off area back of 435. I called PS and they said they would send someone. I hope they do.
ReplyDeleteHappy to report that I have twice seen Security do a vertical walkthrough in my building. Maybe this new company won't be so terrible? We'll see, but this is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteUpdate. A PS officer did go and send the sunbather packing. She looked surprised, so I guess the fact that she had to step over a low fence to get on the grass didn't send her a message.
