Town & Village Newspaper Editorial Slams CWCapital

The beginning of the Editorial:

After Tishman Speyer’s disastrous four-year reign as landlord of Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village, the commonly held belief was that no one could possibly be worse for the community than that company, with its now infamous business model based around goals that were both greedy and delusional.

However, now it seems that the property’s occupying force, CWCapital, is more than willing to be known as the company that’s worse for tenants than the one that lost its investors billions and scared countless tenants out of their homes. By raising the rents at over a thousand units, in most cases by hundreds of dollars and in others more than a thousand or even two, the suits at CW make it clear that they have learned nothing from the historic mistakes of the past.

Never mind that the move is just plain cruel ― as noted by Council Member Dan Garodnick last week ― “a mid-lease rent increase of $900 is nothing less than an eviction notice” ― it is also, quite simply, bad business. By issuing these steep increases on such short notice (the extension of one additional month for tenants to decide whether to stay or go is still short notice), CW has essentially said it doesn’t care whether their tenants stay or go.

  2. Now we need similar pieces in citywide media

  3. How can any tenant with any sense of conscience attend any of the "activities" that our beloved management has planned for summer in the oval?

Enjoying oneself at the expense of other "evicted" tenants.

DON'T PATRONIZE ANYTHING THAT THIS SHIFTLESS MANAGEMENT OFFERS YOU !

  4. CW Capital is nothing more the a DEBT COLLECTOR. They are not landlords or are they property managers. The very first day a rent increase became legally possible, I along with 1300 family's were basically told to leave our homes. My question is why would anyone trust that a Debt Collector would be humane, they are in the business of collecting money. We as tenant"s are simply dollars, It's so sad to have to explain to my 4 year old why she will be leaving her community.

  5. That is exactly right - they are debt collectors! Shitty Shylocks demanding their pound of flesh. Only thing is, they wringing out of the wrong people. We are not the ones who put the place in debt in the first place. I hope karma turns out to be a real bitch for the perpertrators of this atrocious situation.

  6. Have you seem their predatory new Twitter account? @PCVSTleasing. They are stalking people on Twitter who are minding their own business, trying to rent apartments elsewhere in the city. Between that, their idiotic Facebook page selling $9 cold cut sandwiches (which is getting bombed by a few funny people without them noticing) and the porno MORE! girl they look completely clueless.

  9. "Can one of these idiots move the clock to correct time in playground 12? (Out since Sandy)"

you're assuming these idiot know how to tell the time?

  10. They know how to tell time.

They just don't know how to fix a clock.

Plus, they don't give a shit.

  11. Is CWCapital affiliated in any way with Capital One Bank? Their logos are somewhat similar? If they are, then I will immediately close all my accounts - checking, savings, IRAs and credit cards. I would hate to do business with any entity affiliated with these greedy, despicable assholes.

You are assuming (incorrectly IMO) that the idiots care about fixing anything except the renovation of apartments to attract more students here

  13. I can't believe they have the unmitigated gall to enclose ads in with our rent bills. As though anybody is going to recommend this place to anyone. There's no one who I hate that much!

  14. There should be a special episode of "American Greed" about the TS/CW screwing of PCVST.

  15. Mark up those ads and mail them back to Andrew McArthur. Go ahead and enclose other stuff, like any bedbugs or waterbugs or other found objects. There is no truth in advertising or real estate of real estate advertising.

  16. The bigger story is how Stuyvesant Town gave a MASTER KEY to outside contractors. Are they INSANE?!?! It's no wonder we are all being robbed left and right.

CWCapital, CampusRock, Andrew MacArthur and his spokestool Sean Sullivan NEED TO GO!!!! They are RUINING this community!!!!

  17. I hope CW/Compass Crock are being held liable for the robberies that occurred as a result of them giving the master key to outside contractors. That's like asking a street pickpocket to hold your wallet for you! What stupid, lame-brained cretins! Maybe the CWC stands for Cretins Without Conscience.

This will be the 2nd mass exodus of young families suckered into ST-PCV by cynical marketing hyping legacy remnants of a historic family-oriented community wiped out again by predatory greed.

In effect, unconscionable rent increases will return post-Roberts Decision re-stabilized apartments back to a pre-Roberts Decision environment.

I know a couple of tenants who keep "spy" cameras ("nannycams" hidden in their apartments and watch to see what happens when a STPCVT person has to go in. I am planning on getting one.
It used to be that you could trust the employees with your life (back in the pre-Benmoishe day), Today, it's a different story. If you can't be there when they come in, make sure they are being videoed.

  21. @8:12PM. First sentence- check; Second sentence- I've figured out the gist of what you were trying to say; Third sentence- WTF?!? Please explain, as it seems there are some decent thoughts hidden in there! Thank you.

  22. I wonder how many marriages have been strained beyond repair by this kind of corporate cruelty? I wonder how many seniors or fragile people have been driven to suicide by this type of predatory landlord who is trying to force them out? The MacArthurs, Speyers and Benmoishes of this world that they pollute with their presence, should all rot in Hell.
