New Amenity Space: Oval Dumpling

Sometimes a couple of us tenants meet at the Oval and discuss who may wind up buying this place. The Chinese are always mentioned, though I wonder how seriously. Wouldn't it be funny if it came true? If so, the TA may want to elect Lo Rhent as its new president.

NEW YORK/SYDNEY (Reuters) - For the first time, the Chinese have become the biggest foreign buyers of apartments in Manhattan, real estate brokers estimate, taking the mantle from the Russians - whose activity has dropped off since the unrest in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions against Russia by the United States.

Wealthy Chinese are pouring money into real estate in New York and some other major cities around the world, including London and Sydney, as they seek safe havens for their cash and also establish a base for their children to get an education in the West.

....

Broker Shawn Elliott ferries around groups of Chinese buyers in Rolls Royce and Mercedes-Benz luxury sprinters every week, often catering to entire families at a time.

"They're looking for trophy properties," said Elliott. "They're looking for their children to be comfortable, and to be near Columbia or New York University."

  3. How about the stroller nazis and the bikes kids behave a little bit better instead of using both as a frontal weapon.

    How about that?

Park the bikes and strollers inside apartments or basements. So we don't et another fine or visit from Security and the Fire department.

  4. No trophy property here, that's for sure! Unless your trophy is the Mountain Dew of real estate.

  5. No. Property is a serious trophy. The land alone is worth more than 4 billion.

How do you people not know this?

  6. CAN WE PARK MY KIDS BIKES IN HALLWAYS? WE HAVE NO BIKE ROOM AND SINCE THE STROLLER IS IN THE HALL, BIKE OK TOO, RIGHT?

  7. I'm sure you can't park bikes, any bikes, in the hallway. Strollers shouldn't be allowed, too.

  8. Listen, you suburban hick transients and clueless long term tenants as well. Bikes, strollers, umbrellas, boots, floor mats, etc., left in the hallway are FDNY fire code violations. And they are also in violation of your lease. And besides, the hallways are NOT extensions of your apartment, oh self-absorbed ones. Who wants to see Y0UR crap?

  9. Not a suburban hick. born here, been here my entire life. have you?

but wondering same as all the strollers are in our hallways, so why can't the guy posting here put bikes as well.

    Stuy comment on this? hmmmmmmmm

  11. You're not even allowed to put a doormat outside your door. You are certainly not permitted to park bikes or strollers regardless of whether or not your bike room is open. Consider the liability issues if people were permitted to do this. If I trip or fall due to your bike or stroller, I am suing you AND the landlord!!!

  12. Everyone puts the kids strollers in the hallways. Seriously? Right or wrong, everyone does it. Been this way for 20 years.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Actually, not everyone does it. I didn't. And my neighbor on the same floor doesn't, either. Strollers are not supposed to be parked in the hallway. You can do it, but if someone complains, you'll have to move your stroller.

  14. Anoy 1.53, Anoy 6.02 here. I'm a lifetime resident. Again, leaving any of your stuff in the hallway is a fire code violation AND a violation of your lease. I don’t even bother with PS anymore, I tweet FDNY when I see these violations. And again, who wants to see anyone else’s crap in the hallway? Again, the hallway is not an extension of your apartment.

  15. you tweet fdny? ?? for this?

and then what happens? They show up and then what?

    ReplyDelete
  16. "you tweet fdny? ?? for this?"

Yes I do. These are MAJOR fire code violations. FDNY then contacts CR management. Bike, strollers, etc. are then gone. And this behavior, like many other ones, is major DB. Unlike the dogs (CR’S BM), FDNY takes fire code violations “very seriously".

"for this?" I guess you really don't give shit about the QOL here. I do.
