Where is the Audio of the November TA Town Hall Meeting?

In advance of the TA meeting on Saturday, May 10, 2014 (1:00 PM, in Intermediate School 104, East 20th Street between First and Second Avenues) to discuss the recent MCI settlement, it would be good to have the audio available of the November 2nd Town Hall meeting in which TA counsel Tim Collins and others spoke about the MCIs that were going to be put into effect and the Request for Reconsideration that was going to be made to the DHCR. The availability of such an audio was promised at the meeting and also in a summary of the meeting made on the TA website:

  1. Why do you ask so many complicated questions?!? Unity! Community!! Commodities!!! All that crap...

When you constantly have to be confronted with the facts, it becomes much more complicated to lie to your "constituents."

    Now...let's talk about that conversion...

  2. Cue Tape: 'crickets chirping'. Good try STRer but not a chance. Moving forward, we should all just tape the proceedings on our own.

  3. From what they've demonstrated these past few months with their coordinated and contrived messages it is highly unlikely any recording they now provide will be undoctored. While its certain they have long been contriving and controlling messages to tenants, these past few months of sloppiness have been helpful for us tenants to be more aware of it.

  4. No problem. I'd know if it was doctored or if parts were missing. Again, where is the promised audio tape of that meeting?

  8. These politicians are in deep denial. Someone needs to tell Quinn we didn't vote for her because of her and Bloomberg destroying tenants and New Yorkers for 12 years. We didn't vote for her because we want to save our homes! They don't get it. There is no scapegoat. She deserved to lose our votes! And come2014 elections more politicians will hear our voices louder than the dollars they hear from REBNY!

  9. 12:17 pm: I donated money to the Anybody but Quinn campaign for the very reason that she overturned term limits, etc. I am also against the carriage horse business because I think it is inhumane, but I never donated to the cause that is specifically for that issue. The NYDN is, and always was, firmly in the Bloomberg/Quinn corner and will print any lies it feels like printing. During the campaign season, I told every campaigner who approached or called me that I would not vote for anyone who voted to overturn term limits. I was recently approached by Carolyn Maloney campaigners and I told them I would never again vote for her because she came round here campaigning for Quinn. Sometimes (maybe most of the time) they just don't get it!

  10. A few days ago I was down at the World Financial Center...except now it's called Brookfield Place. Brookfield own most of the real estate there. The entire place is being renovated to generate more income. Brace yourself. If Brookfield wins the bid for STPCV, we'll turn into MCI town. Any developer might do the same. The only plan that would be good for tenants is one that allows so many tenants to buy that the tenants will be the immediate majority on the governance board.

  11. Did John Marsh catch the Mail Chimp yet? Did Susan Steinberg scold it for dressing tawdry? Are they all getting organized? Inquiring minds want to know!

  12. Not only are the Mci bogus but, and even worse, the DHCR is:

Does the DHCr check to insure the 'work' was done and is effective and improved?

Even worse: Does the DHCR confirm the $2500 increase - 100K improvements made to these new (BS) apartments? NOOOOO.

    No one mentioning this though.

  15. 7:45 am - many have mentioned the overcharges on the renovated apartments and told you how to address it to get your money back and to get your apartment rent properly assessed. Most if not all the renovated apartments are way overcharged. Its up to each individual to help themselves. The TA is not helping you. So do it for yourself.

  16. We got into this mess because people are waiting for someone to do it all for them. People, do it for yourself. We are smart and capable. Don't wait for a TA meeting for them to tell you what they want you to think and what they want you to believe. Don't wait for your rent stub to see what CW tells you your rent is. Go to DHCR and have them assess your apartment then compare it to what CW is charging you. You are probably being overcharged. Both Market Rate and Rent stabilized apartments are being overcharged with different tricks. So go for yourselves and get your apartment rent assessed!

  17. Not sure where you are ALL LIVING, but check any building in peter cooper and there are @ least 2 to 5 strollers parked in hallways.

What rock do you people live under. No one (i park) told me we cannot park db stroller there.

  18. Strollers and bicycles in the hallway are surely not allowed by the fire code.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Accidentally (of course) fall over one of those strollers then ring the doorbell ask them to call 911 for you and a good lawyer for them and the landlord because this is a get rich quick opportunity for you!!!!

Check your lease, it tells you there.

  21. TA will never produce audio because then you could prove their attorney said he was certain he could get these MCI's "rescinded". His word not mine.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well the lease says a lot of things doesn't it?

THAT NO ONE (dogs) abides by.

I don't have strollers or bikes, but the hallways are full of them.

  25. Going to DHCR on Thursday. Take lease and ? Lease is in wife's name. Ok or does she need to go? Thanks all.

  26. The hallways and common areas can not be used for storage. Keep your junk in your apartment. Nobody wants to look at it. A quick call to Public Safety or management is all it takes for baby's Bugaboo Bumper Car to be whisked away. Try it! Buh bye baby!

  28. Here's what I know. The TA's secretary, Rose Mary Woods, was reviewing the tape when she made "a terrible mistake" during transcription. While playing the tape on her Uher 5000, she answered a phone call. Reaching for the Uher 5000 stop button, she mistakenly hit the record button next to it, causing the tape to be re-recorded. When she listened to the tape, the gap had grown to 18½ minutes. She says she's not responsible for the remaining 13 minutes of buzz. Hmmm!

  29. 10:59. I wish you were right, but PS doesn't come and take hall stuff away - we know as we tried and they don't do that stuff.

This is a total fire hazard.

  30. DHCR seriously? ask the guy there to do what? You have to talk through the glass - barely audible - there's no asking for calculations of MCI. You may get , if the clerk is sober, a copy of rent history - that's it. There's no explanation or time given from any employee working there. You'll get maybe a printout which you can get via the mail and this is not helpful to those who want to know correct rent and more.

  31. My neighbor is raising her child in the hallway! She thinks it's an additional bedroom.

  32. I live in 276. They shut off our water today from 10am till 6 pm. It's now 6:55 pm and I'm still getting cold brown water coming out of my bathroom faucet. God I can't wait until I can move out of this dump.

  33. Okay, damn it, where's that audio tape?

  34. Is it true (cough/ laugh) the basements flooded again due to the rain 4/30/2014?
