It still will take decades to remove all older three or four story dwellings that exist in the city, as can be seen in this photo, but they are surely marked for the bulldozer and replacement by modern spires.
Hoarders will not have a good time of it in the new NYC:
Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village will get several transformations. Ultimately most of park space will be eradicated in favor of towers much higher than allowable at present, and they will be built considerably closer together. In honor of tradition, however, a few trees from what some naively call "the good old days" will remain (foreground).

ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of talk on the Roberts Ruling and Settlement. We need to look at what happened and what didn't happen.
ReplyDeleteThe Robert's case provided evidence of rampant illegal acts with thousands of victims.
Immediately following the ruling a decent politician would implement new laws with severe punishment that fits this crime so it does not repeat.
Instead all these guys put together a settlement that weakened tenant rights.
I don't know how many years it's been now, but there ALWAYS seems to be some type of construction activity going on here. When is this all going to stop. When? To go back to some sort of normalcy. It's absolutely horrible, with no end in site. What a shame!

ReplyDeleteDepending on who buys there will be construction, probably even destruction. Thanks to Garodnick and the TA opening the way to commercialization expect at least more retail shops. Some potential buyers may just want to tear the place down, hopefully piecemeal but perhaps not!

Per Dan Garodnick they are the same company and he has been working with them all along.

More illegal evictions and tree killing.
If we really want to protect ourselves we will be as knowledgeable as we can without any expectation of relying on others to tell us what is going on. I think we have well learned who will throw us under the bus.
