Is is just me or has there been a growing influx of banned breeds in our community? Some are being walked in from outside, some are here as the dogs of tenants, and of those, some have no ST/PCV tags while others, remarkably, have them, even though the dogs are banned in the complex!
It's been my experience that Public Safety is now completely ignoring the dog issue. I've seen banned dogs walked right into Peter Cooper, past the guard booth, with zero interference or comment from the Public Safety office inside. And, by now, I've seen dozens of banned dogs being walked around the Oval, right in front of that amazing, glowing new Public Safety office, with almost zero interference or comment from any Public Safety officer there or at the Oval guard booth. (Just once did I see a PS officer talk to such a dog walker, though I don't know what was the outcome. I guess not much because I saw the same dog walker still on the property at a later day.)
And talk about the balls of a male pit bull! Here is a dog trainer who not only uses the grounds for his work (with banned breeds, among others), but who lives in Peter Cooper and runs his business out of there!
This is one of the photos he presents on his own Facebook. In your face with your dog rules, ST/PCV! But then again, perhaps he gets a special dispensation from the powers that be, who at this point, don't seem to care at all about banned breeds in the complex.
The dog problem is outrageous and getting worse by the day. It's yet another form of harassment by Compass Rock and CWCapital.

Yet another example of how tenants trapped in rent stabilization can be abused by their landlords. Yes, trapped! No control over your own destiny because you are protected by a system that rewards long term renting. The longer you stay in, the more you lose. A losers proposition any way you slice it. Middle class ownership is the only way to go, but comrade DiBlasio is sure to try and double down on the rent stabilization disaster. Hey it wins votes!

Laughable - now I read that the new suckers of Manhattan tenants pay the a/c in addition to their rent. Brilliantly played CW - now you can charge separately and extra for electric for 12 months of the year. Brilliant as no new tenants know this at signing and apparently it's an additional $55 or more per month. Another $600 per year per apartment for CW. Ka ching.
ReplyDeleteThe NOISE from the so-called "concert" last night was unreal . And there is another one scheduled tonight??? They must be kidding?! This is harassment in its purest form. All I want to do is come home to my apartment and have some peace. Is that too much to ask? Is there no legal remedy? Can't someone call the authorities and put a stop to this. I called 311...nothing. I called Stuy Town Security at 212-420-5000. They LAUGHED! I'll try Garodnick's office today. I'm sure that will have great results he says delusionally.

Don't bother trying Goradnick's office. He gave his Imprimatur on these nerve-wracking concerts and all the other shit that CW pulls to try to turn a buck. Meanwhile, no money is spent on the toilets they call washing machines here.
ReplyDeleteRe: Guard booth at 22nd Street. The sole responsibility of the security officers is to check in vehicles. They will not do anything else even if you ask (as I have many times)--such as stopping whizzing bicycles, illegal dogs, you name it. They might call something in, but that's it, and they're not exactly overburdened.
ReplyDeleteRe: self-entitled dog owners. Went down to do my laundry the other week (optimistic, yes I know). In comes a 40-something couple with their large dog. I asked them to remove the dog while I was doing my laundry, and they did. When the woman grabbed the dog's collar, I realized that the dog was not on a leash--totally illegal in the city and against management's rules. I'm not afraid of dogs, but there are people in my building who are terrified of being knocked over.

ReplyDeleteThe only thing the TA is good for these days is as a PR representation of tenants to the outside world. The reality is that the TA rarely tangles with the landlord and when it does, and seems to have the upper hand, it surrenders, or softens, its stance somewhere along the way.

Some of us have had to live with dogs that bark for hours on end. Some of us prefer not to have our hallways used as a dog run. Some of us don't want to have to listen to barking dogs under our windows. Some of us prefer not to have urine and feces in stairwells and on floors, ruining the carpets. Some of us aren't members of the Cult of the Dog.

ReplyDeleteI love the ferocious gigantic nasty breeds who go ballistic at skateboards or a kid with a ball. No one gives a Flying F here. In fact, Nyc prefers dogs to kids if you want to know thte truth.
ReplyDeleteTHis is why a conversion of some kind is so important. We'll probably never be able to get rid of the dogs, but at least we can have some kind of enforcement of rules if we all own this dump. At least we'll have some say. Based on pure numbers, there are still more normal, quiet, and clean residents than dog owners.
ReplyDeleteOne month after moving in to our bldg. the "family" on our floor got a dog. It is neglected - left alone all day and barks. Security verified barking 2x, property mgr. was notified. The last straw was when we had to deal with the dog shit by the elevator and their apartment door. Security and our bldg. handyman both took pictures and property manager was notified. I understand they will be fined.

ReplyDelete11 :49 yes and sounds like it's just you and me and we're singing to the choir now. NO conversion, churning of flats with students and 6 people in a one bedroom - noise issues - uncontrolled and unchecked charges on leases -- NO one cares . here.
ReplyDeleteDogs aren't going away. Neither are students - both will only increase drastically in numbers. We need an active TA or a conversion that will enable tenants long term and responsible new tenants to limit and / or enforce rules. Ludicrous to think it can be any other way @ this point.
