Coming to the Oval Lawn Soon?
I'm pretty sure that residents shouldn't fear getting bit by spiders, giant or not, unless they have an allergy to such bites, but this is another concern for us who live in these, yes, projects. And just how in the hell did large spiders get into Stuy Town in the first place?
You can read the full story over at the Town & Village blog:

Your humor is deadly.
ReplyDeleteYeah, and so are giant spiders!
ReplyDeleteSo much too dislike in this story-3 unrelated adults in a converted 3 bdrm, smoking out front of the building, students training to be lawyers, and spiders to boot.
ReplyDeleteKilled a white, medium sized spider inside my PCV apt. last week. I wonder how many others in PCV or ST have had spiders?
ReplyDeleteI have spiders in my ST apartment all the time! Always killing the buggers! I don't mind the regular spiders that build a web and catch the flies, but some of these spiders I've been seeing lately are something else. Don't know what they are or where they're coming from, but I don't like the look of them and I kill them whenever I see them. I've been bitten by these things myself and the bite is nastier than a mosquito bite. Fortunately, I'm not allergic and haven't broken out in hives or any other kind of deadly reaction, but they sure can sting.
ReplyDeleteI don't see hatred and vitriol in the weekend comments. The whiner who said that is a making a condescending character judgement just trying to shame people. It is probably said by the same who are trying to instill fear and doing all the name calling.
ReplyDeleteI see a community betrayed by their civil servant - A community that is speaking out about it I see a community that cares about itself enough to speak up for itself. Loudly.
Great weekend blogs STR
ReplyDelete1. Agree, Mr Guterman should assist those who signed (from reading of his consultancy on this blog), consult them on taking steps to help themselves with their individual issues (that are same most tenants here face); then have them tell neighbors about it using that as a way to get word out about how they were assisted, easy steps and actions they took along with Mr Guterman himself reaching out beyond the blog. If he expects 5000 signatures he has te reach at least that many (but really more) with his message. Otherwise it looks like a faux effort and this community has been tricked by faux efforts and those pretending to protect the community enough.
2. Obviously more could have been done on matters written about on this blog but a conscious choice was made not to denounce and take action against CW for carrying out the Tishman business plan and the same excuses (that don't hold water) are being used by the TA board anonymously on this blog. When you took part in the plan I guess it is hard to denounce it in any meaningful way. Efforts feigning to denounce destruction of PCVST and now excuses for not getting results promised are standard when one makes a deal with the devil. They created their own demise by betraying the community.
3. Agree this is a betrayal, by civil servants and TA they control. The commentary holds no hatred and vitriol as someone tried to portray. This is normal reaction when one, let alone 11,000 are betrayed. Bloomberg's vision for NYC and PCVST included decimating the middle class here in PCVST. Bloomberg administration didn't ignore this community. The Bloomberg fraternity orchestrated it. And no one in a position to speak against it happening in PCVST did so for years and still aren't.
3. The amount of garbage produced and leaving PCVST has multiplied, much is alarmingly toxic and is most likely not being disposed appropriately. Not only did they increase the population beyond what the property can withstand, they did so with young adults who mostly have a transient mentality still unaware of the impact and footprint the leave -- where everything is disposable and wasteful. They make no type of investment in the community. Only Take from it and leave their waste behind. Our residential community is not set up for disposable dorm furniture for one let alone 4000 dorms that hold 3 - 9plus occupants. The mattresses strewn about are disgusting and low class. No luxury here.
4. I don't think the RS hate the MR. I saw a lot of comments and information on ways MR could help themselves with their rent gouging. It does seem MR hate the RS as they tried to get them thrown out when they followed the TA's plan for the Brookfield buy.
5. Lastly again I don't see hatred coming from residents. I do see it coming from all who participated in the schemes against PCVST; transforming homes-to-dorms and open-park-space-to commercialization with shady business deals for concerts, businesses and verizon monopolies, and moving a lot of money ($19,000- $25,000 per student from NYU thru MacCracken Fellowship to Students to CW/R (with a payout to others along the way to allow it no doubting) adds up to tens of millions every 11 months. That would explain one way how CW got their numbers so high in record speed. And let's nt forget the $20 charge on new leases for access to Verizon even if you have time Warner or RCN.
The leasing practices are as shady as the business deals. The only thing that is not shady here is the grounds as they have killed a Thousand Trees.
I've often had small brown spiders in my apartment. Can't tell where they come from (has to be from inside because I have screens), but I always kill them.
ReplyDeleteI think I just saw THE BLOB in the laundry room!!!

ReplyDeleteYou may not see it but someone else did. So you call that commenter a "whiner" while suggesting that the other commenter was guilty of name calling!
Geez, your comment probably goes a long way in proving the other commenter's point.
And I think the conversation was about an elected official, not a civil servant.
Spiders are night creatures and are attracted to loud human conversation, the smell of tobacco smoke and beer. Spider bites are especially bad for college-aged kids and can cause all kinds of diseases, many of them chronic. Unfortunately - because of all the trees, bushes and grass - ST-PCV is crawling with them. So it's smart for college age kids in ST-PCV to stay quiet and indoors at night or expect the worst!
ReplyDeleteNot surprising
ReplyDeleteThe Most Wall Street friendly congressman ex-house majority leader Eric Cantor -- who was so deranged in mind and values he was least liked by his peers and who was voted out of office despite having the bigger war chest of financial backers is now .... drum roll ..... making millions at Wall Street Investment Banking firm Moelis. That is the type of person and the company culture the TA hired to control the fate of our homes.

Ot but i have ar real and different problem in pcv with the upstairs apartment. Kids running around, no carpets, they literally are throwing themselves at their cat onto the floor. i know this as other tenants have complained. Calling Ps does nothing.
ReplyDeletewhat is CR and / or the TA doing about this? I've heard of others hiring lawyers. Is this the new route then so be it. Who can I call if not Donalda to report - they have shaken lights in our place, that's how rough it gets.
"... they literally are throwing themselves at their cat onto the floor."
ReplyDeleteIf you suspect animal abuse call the NYPD. They have taken over from the ASPCA when it comes to investigating animal abuse. If they don't respond, call the ASPCA and let them know the cops are not doing their job. If the cops show up at their home, chances are they will get a little rattled whether there is animal abuse or not.
I don't believe that Donalda is hired to help abused and beseiged tenants. I think her job is to promote the abuse of tenants in order to keep the churning churning. She is part of the master plan to drive people out.
Who is Donalda?

ReplyDeleteYou are not the only person in ST-PCV with this problem. Or in NYC for that matter. We have had to deal with three different sets of noisy neighbors over the course of our tenancy. We are currently blessed with three NYU girls who are more or less quiet.
Anyway. The city of NY has made it next to impossible to deal with noisy neighbors in a rental apartment situation. To see what I mean, just Google: NYC rental apartment neighbors noise complaints
The NYC Rent Guidelines Board has this to say: "Chronic disruptive noise may constitute a legal nuisance for which court proceedings are available. For this, we suggest that you contact an attorney."
The itsy-bitsy spider
ReplyDeleteClimbed up the water spout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
And the itsy-bitsy spider
Climbed up the spout again
Our dear dfs did contact an attorney , for the record. Very good results and problem very much solved for past 6 months. Seems the only way people stop their kids from banging balls, each other or loud music parties, is via this route. Money talks.
ReplyDeleteEveryone who is being harassed by noisy neighbors, whether they are NYU students or any other type of asshole, should retain a good tenants' lawyer and follow up on their advice. It may cost a few dollars, but it is worth it if it reaps good results. This despicable "landlord" we have is only interested in pulling people in and then driving them out. Take what legal action you can and please be as public about it as you can.
ReplyDeleteI just cancelled an appointment with a doctor because I read such lousy reviews on Healthgrades and I am seeking treatment from a doctor who has very good reviews.
My point is: let the world know what is going worst ratings on Yelp. Post your concerns and spare more people from becoming victims of this out-and-out scam of a housing development.
Your experiences - good and bad - DO MATTER. Make them known.
That giant tenant-eating spider looks familiar. Is it the Brookfield predator?
ReplyDeleteNo, the giant spider is an itsy-bitsy predator, way too small to swallow up all of ST-PCV. Just like Speyer, the Brookfield predator is a giant vampire squid. Unlike Speyer, Garodnick and the TA claim the Brookfield vampire squid is our partner.
In exchange for nothing, Garodnick and the TA are giving away to the Brookfield vampire squid all of ST-PCV.
Also in exchange for nothing, Garodnick and the TA are giving away to the Brookfield vampire squid at least $3 billion Fannie/Freddie funding, maybe more, that Senator Schumer set aside for the exclusive use of tenants.
Why give all of ST-PCV and $3 billion to Brookfield in exchange for nothing? Is it Brookfield's birthday? Did Brookfield win the lottery?
Yelp doesn't post our review of this dump. I tried 3 x now. So there goes yelp.
ReplyDeleteFirst, Donalba Haberstam hs been here for years. She's the Tenant Relations person who does absolutely Nothing and everyone knows it. Don't expect anything through her.
ReplyDeleteRe: Spiders: I had a bid red welt on my left calf and it didn't really look like a mosquito bite. It itched initially. No One could tell what it was (pharmacy, EMT's). I put triple antibiotic on it for a few days and it eventually went away. ??Spider bite? Makes you think.
My upstairs neighbor has been waking me up for years between 1:30 and 3 Am. Exausted, furious, small ulcer as a result. And before him two women who were actually worse.
ReplyDeleteI've called Security on many, many occasions in the middle of the night to deal with this joker and his linebacker (female) roomate.
As I've said on many occasions, eventually you must see the handwriting on the wall. It really could be alot worse but it also could be alot better and that's why I'm in the
process of cleaning out my apartment, bit by bit, and preparing to get the hell out of this insame place once and for all.
I think DH is now in a different department. Can anyone confirm? I advise any tenant who is put out day after day and night after night to seek legal counsel. It is your right to a normal home environment here and NYS fully supports this. yes, btdt.

No wonder our business leaders are unethical, they learned it from the esteemed universities.
The TA had a direct conflict of interest and should not have negotiated the mci charges. They are trying to increase the rents of the RS for Brookfield. Everything they have done since 2007 is corrupt and self serving. Mr Guterman just hold a meeting and let's see what happens.
