Meet the New Official Mascot of ST/PCV: NUTS

Well, that's not his name yet, but can one hope?  So, the complex is filthy, dog and human crap here and there, including in elevators; there's noise to wake the dead at all hours of the night (partying, Con Ed work, etc), many of the laundry rooms are not working at full capacity; not all buildings in Peter Cooper Village have fully recovered from Hurricane Sandy; the construction of the new management office is not yet finished and has created a nightmare for those living nearby; the complex is becoming more and more of a dorm; residents are in the dark about the future of this place....

So what is CWCapital/CompassRock's latest effort?

A toy squirrel mascot for the complex that residents are urged to name!!!

So let's name it.

  1. Too bad the squirrels are homeless since Compass Rock destroyed thousands of their trees. And isn't there a don't feed the homeless rule against feeding the squirrels nuts despite they struggle to find food each time Compass Rock digs up the landscape tossing away their buried nuts. How about Compass Rock treat the squirrels better or at least humanely before using them for their commercial endeavors.

  3. Should be named "Dead Critter Walking" considering that CW/CR continue to put down illegal poison which kills the squirrels and therefore the pigeons and therefore the red-tailed hawks and peregrine falcons that have made STPCV their home for many years.

Of course, it probably kills or sickens a few dogs and children, too. But management doesn't care about that.

  4. Like everything else that's wrong here (which is pretty much everything), it's the wrong color!

  5. As the new official mascot let's do all we can to make sure they are treated right.

Where can we report the illegal poisoning, forced starvation, and destroyed habitat so CWCR is forced to end the cruelty?

  6. Absolutely ridiculous.

  7. "Where can we report the illegal poisoning, forced starvation, and destroyed habitat so CWCR is forced to end the cruelty?"

I'd like to know that too. We could also mention that their bozo workmen were burying them alive during the destruction of their habitat for the new management bunker. The guys thought it was very funny to hear them screaming as they were being killed. Fucking assholes. I hope the same fate happens to them someday.

  9. Every time I walk by the management office I will think of the poor squirrels buried alive and the horrible management company et al who built the grave site bunker where the squirrel's tall-tree homes once were.

  10. I can't believe they pay people to sit around and come up with these banal ideas.

  11. Some cover up. They are trying to make it look like they love the property while they kill the property. They have been knocking the squirrels nests out of the trees for years, letting the babies die on the ground. After being so horrible, who are they kidding? Maybe they are trying to be more human. They know the community cares about the squirrels and migrating birds. Or maybe they are using the squirrels to increase profits to attract people to come live here. Either way I agree we should use this to get them to better treat the squirrels and stop being so cruel.

  12. This is no depth that CW will not go!

  13. I heard that they've rented one of the new "balcony" apartments to a family of 4,000 squirrels. They're each kicking in a buck a month to cover the rent, and have already overflowed the recycling area in the building with empty peanut shells.

  14. I thought Mr. Hankey from South Park was our mascot? I see his footsteps everywhere.

  15. ahhhhh, the balcony apartments. Well played again Mr. CR:::: how much does that add to the 'LEGAL' rent allowed???

    Bastards.

  16. The best was when the person running their Facebook page started talking about swimming classes during Sandy.

  17. "Hello, my name is Homie the Homeless Squirrel. I live outside you door, in the busehes and the trees. I forage for scraps and each day I beg you for a few nuts or scraps of food so I can survive the long, cold winters. Your children and dogs chase me up trees and scare me for their own enjoyment. I can't wait for the day when you too are homeless, living with me in the bushes, and begging strangers for scraps of food, and from what I hear from the talk on the benches, that day is coming sooner than you think. Ok, Homie's gotta go. I'll see you in the bushes, and don't forget to bring the nuts."

  19. For those who complain about the coloring/appearance. You'll be glad to hear, the Stuy Town squirrel comes in both a traditional and modern looks.

  20. If squirrels are the mascot then let's get Compass Rock to implement policies to better treat the squirrels and all the wildlife.

  21. The PCV ST Wildlife and their Habitat used to be extraordinary but that is all but gone. We are more and more a concrete jungle. The amount of lost park space to buildings and wiped out trees compared to 5 years ago is despicable. The absence of opposition and protection by Dan and the TA Board is a shameful disgrace and a sign of how it will be under their Brookfield buy errr I mean tenant-led. The Garodnick legacy is mass evictions and mass habitat destruction. On top of thousands of dorms installed without a peep. Had you been opposing and fighting and stopping DOB from permitting wall partitions maybe I would believe that a Brookfield ownership would eliminate the dorms. More likely Brookfield will buy and then say it is necessary for the bottomline to keep the dorms but we will keep the concert decibel in check (bullshit) and the dorms concentrated in 40% of the buildings instead of each building being 40% dorms. Everything we have in PCVST today and everything we lost is how it would be whether it is Brookfield or Fortress. I think what disappoints most is politicians parading tenants out as if they are doing this for tenants when they are really doing it for the RE business deal. Surprised at some who I thought were not involved who really are. What a bunch we have.

  22. 10:44 AM: You said it all. CW has raped and pillaged this property and Garodnick and the TA have been tacitly complicit. I no longer care who buys this place. The damage that has been done is irreversible and we have nothing, but nothing, to thank the TA or DG for. They are wolves in sheep's clothing at best. At worst they are complicit in fraud, deception and destruction. I despise them as much as I despise the LL and I know many other tenants who feel the same way.

  23. Why aren't we working on a class action lawsuit here? Where is everyone? Where is the TA.

  24. I feed the squirrels every day and if anybody don't like it: tough shit. They were brought here originally my MetLife to enhance the property and they proliferated. They are entitled to eat and their natural habitat has been decimated by our scumbag "landlord." CW/CR is not a true landlord; they are simply "minding" the property until a real buyer is found. Let's hope it isn't anyone of the same ilk as CW or TS. We don't need any more despicable predators.

  25. "The Garodnick legacy is mass evictions and mass habitat destruction."

So true. The entire city is a mess with RE landlords, developers and politicians committing heinous greedy acts. The state of NYC communities is a disgrace.

  26. How about calling him "Endangered."

  27. I don't think the T.A exists anymore. I'm going to demand a refund of my dues. I HAVE HAD IT HERE! I'M DONE CARING ABOUT THIS PLACE ANYMORE!

  28. I feel sorry for the squirrels. They are so skinny. And there used to be more. All their nuts are dug up and missing with all the overgardening.
