  1. Congratulations to our sister city Philly.

Philly touted its historical significance and NYC flaunted its one-percenters. We didn't put our best foot forward. Other than that it was a good fight, a good clean and dirty fight by all.

    Congrats Philly!

  2. Philly beats NYC again
UPenn number one with a 6 to 1 student to teacher ratio

NYC not even ranked in top ten

    It is embarrassing

    http://college.usatoday.com/2014/09/08/upenn-named-best-college-nationwide-for-2015/

NYC's messed up priorities and values are winning us "last place" It is not about who is biggest in population or land size, tallest in buildings, or richest.

NYU decades of scandalous real estate grabs, population growth, and money hoarding

Albany is poster child for corruption

REBNY's RE is the world's money launderer

Wall Street robs Main Street blind

All that is great about NYC is diminished by all that is greedy.

De Blasio was on the wrong side of the equation on who really are the best and brightest lights shining in NYC. He missed an opportunity to turn NYC around.

  3. And some of us can't afford to tip. Some of us have trouble just paying rent. So...... guess porters can be snotty to those tenants since they're too poor to tip eh?

  4. This killed it:

It was never going to happen and Robby knew it all along.

DNC is smart to avoid NYS-NYC. Hopefully before 2016 a substantial percentage of our elected politicians will be indicted/arrested for corruption. Hopefully Robby too, but unlikely.

  5. The Barclays Center should never have been built because it robbed people of their homes by "eminent domain" and the developer never made good on his promises to build affordable housing. Add to that the fact that it has been reported to have been shoddily and unsafely built and it's no surprise it has to make door with rock concerts and animal abuse venues.

  6. Don't cry Billy de. We got what was coming to us.

  7. I am delighted that the DNC is not coming to New York. The subways and buses are already overloaded and the streets overcrowded. I know the Barclays Center would be in Brooklyn, but the attendees would be staying in Manhattan which is already choc-a-bloc with tourists. New Yorkers are a mere inconvenience to these overly-ambitious politicians and their owners.

  8. STR - Last night on the 10pm news on Channel 5 they did a segment where Melissa Mark-Viverito was speaking to a crowd. After speaking any everyone clapping she went right to Dan Grodnick and hugged him.
I was doing other things and not really paying attention. Personally, Melissa Mark-Viverito makes me NOT pay attention. I don't care for her.
Anyway - clearly her and Dan are close...and going right to him for the hug piqued my interest.
I am going to google and see if I can get the clip. I hope this means he has allies in the administration. I just don't trust this administration!

  9. One term Bill is just a hapless goofball. You almost have to feel bad for him. Almost! He just can't get anything right.

  10. Deblasio is a miillion times better for rs and tenants than his predecessors, yet the perpetual malcontents seek to find fault with him at each and every turn. Makes you wonder whose side they're on.

I think the malcontents are waiting to see some results.

  12. A whole bunch of us can't afford to tip. WTF is that about? Shitty overpriced apartments, shitty buildings, shitty manager plus a tip?

    Lmao - it's a joke, right?

  13. Exactly right 7:54 STR
We want results from De Blasio.
Results that will only happen if he is on the right track. What he needs is the people to remind him of the right track and the promises he made and the results we are expecting. If we don't remind him he won't be able to fulfill our expectations.

  14. Its not De Blasio's failure. It's Cuomo / Skelos / Silver's failure. De Blasio was on the front lines and definitely used the wrong strategy but ultimately it is Albany's failure. Then again, I, and most New Yorkers do not want the conventions in NYC. Barclay's should have never been built. Agree 1:28.

  15. It is all their fault. Cuomo Skelos and Siver corruption in Albany and now Cuomo's war he waged working people.
Cuomo refuses to tax the rich and he refuses to collect taxes from the rich.
But he will take away a car, the only means of transportation to and from work to feed ones family if you owe $5000 in taxes.

de Blasio said the 1 percenters are New York's best and brightest in a time when New York's white collar criminals are making bigger profits then ever, from our corrupt Politicians, Wall Street to RE by stealing everything from the people, homes, land, money completely wiping out a middle class.

I do not know if de Blasio can recover from this when his actions match his words -- preference and reverence for one percenters.
They are running New York like a corrupt corporation.

By the way Long Island does not want casinos and NYC does not want conventions. Casinos and convention attract the lowest common denominators and they bring out the worse in people. This government is using its constituents to profit off of instead of looking for ways to help constituents make profits for themselves.

  16. Its not De Blasio's failure.

Nonsense! The number one reason it's going to Philly is one term Bill's relationship with NYPD. People want to feel safe.

  17. He needs to get rid of two crooked parasites whom he considers "friends." Those "friends" are Al Sharpton, who is a lying, tax-evading, racist bully; and, Rob Speyer, who is an avaricious, amoral predator who thinks it is fun to destroy lives for profit. Out of two, I prefer Sharpton, though they are both millstones around the neck of de Blasio.

  18. It is the politicians fault. The DNC is not in NYC because:

New York City’s ultimately failed bid to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Brooklyn...

The city learned this week it had lost out to Philadelphia. Democratic officials said they were uneasy about the logistical and security challenges of holding a convention in a densely residential area of the borough."

No kidding. Building a (shoddy) convention center where there once was the safety and sanctity of homes and where there are surrounding homes -- is not a safe element. A convention center does not being smack in the middle of a community of families. Convention centers do NOT belong in residential communities. The types of people it attracts, the traffic, the crowds of strangers, it is a dangerous situation the city created.

    The DNC is right.

  19. NY is too corrupt to host the DNC

    NYDailyNews

"They’re running scared in Albany because New Yorkers have had enough of their rigged games and thievery.

Faster than you can say “Sheldon Silver in handcuffs,” the ladies and gentlemen of the state Legislature on Tuesday proclaimed their ardent desire for squeaky-clean government.

That’s what happened after the Daily News named 16 members of the Assembly and Senate as pulling down more than $100,000 a year without fully disclosing the sources of their incomes — and this page dubbed them Enemies of Reform.

Almost immediately, Senate Republican Majority Leader Dean Skelos declared: “We need full transparency and strong ethics laws that are modeled off of the best practices of 49 other states.”

On paper — full skepticism warranted — Skelos’ commitment is a stunning turnaround.

While reporting up to $250,000 in annual income from a law firm with a lobbying arm that’s active in Albany, Skelos joined Silver in waging a court battle to keep the names of his clients secret from Gov. Cuomo’s anti-corruption commission.

Now, Skelos says he is negotiating the ultimate in reform measures with the governor. In past such talks, legislative leaders wrote in so many loopholes that Silver managed to conceal his business dealings until the feds bagged him."

  20. De Blasio is playing right into the arms of his Real Estate "friends" with his "Build High and Dense" plans for so-called affordable housing. They are jizzing in their pants as he gullibly gives them a free pass to build mega monstrosities with the poor doors and the pathetic little segregated blocs of space for low income (NOT middle class) tenants. He really is a fool. A total buffoon. At least Bloomberg was intelligently and openly crooked and gave away the store to his RE buddies. This poor stooge doesn't realize how they are playing him.

  21. Let's start a closed FB group. Let's start there. Tenants only - we can begin our own Tenants Assoc.

  22. De Blasio needs to offload Al Sharpton and Rob Speyer. Don't know if anyone saw the piece in the NYPost (not the most high class of publications, I'll admit) where Eric Garner's daughter states that Sharpton is all about the money. Like we didn't know that already. This parasite exploits his people and the terrible things that happen to them as a means of serving his own agenda. Rob Speyer is equally a parasite, who has no feelings or conscience when it comes to relieving decent, ordinary New Yorkers of their hard-earned money and exploiting them for his own crooked agenda. Mayor DeBlasio needs to get some new friends. We are judged by the company we keep and he is not doing too well.

  24. I hope all those in Brooklyn who were displaced and kicked out of their homes and neighborhood for the fiasco this corrupt DNC convention RE deal get justice one day. Here is a very well written lawyer's blog link exposing the corruption, and helping the cause and the fight!

  25. Agree with you February 14, 2015 at 3:16 PM and it is really sad to watch as someone who had higher hopes of Bill. The fashion industry gossip of how the seduction of Bill for 15 Million Bills after the entire industry backed Quinn, wanted her to be the NYC Mayor "doll we dress for global press" and then scrambled on how to "seduce" Bill. There is some press on the seduction of Bill. I will look for it and post the links to share with everyone on this blog.
