It used to be that Peter Cooper Village was considered the deluxe "neighborhood" of the ST/PCV complex. But that was back in the old days. Nowadays, it is a filthy, dog piss and crap strewn area, with cracked sidewalks and roadways. It looks like a pigsty, as these photos, taken this morning prove:
Amazingly, people still can't comprehend that this place is, at its core, projects for white people (and a growing body of Asian students). For this, the "new stabilizers" are paying $5K plus for their apartments? You're being gypped!
Check out the basement of 4 peter cooper - visiting my parents and a nice pool of dog pee no one bothered to clean. Ewwwwww. Will send photos. Nice lux living.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS A RESULT OF NO RULES BEING ENFORCED. PUBLIC SAFETY WALKS ON EGGSHELLS & LOOKS THE OTHER WAY. THERE ARE MANY , MANY OUTSIDERS COMING IN TO "walk" THEIR DOGS . I SEE IT EVERYDAY. PCV HAS BECOME A DESTINATION . I SEE THE DOG OWNERS PICKING UP THE DOGS & PUTTING THEM ON THE GRASS IN THE FENCED OFF AREA. NO THOUGHT TO THE FACT THAT IT IS OFF LIMITS. DOGS NEED TO BE REGISTERED & RULES NEED TO BE FOLLOWED AND ENFORCED. VERY SAD SEEING PCV BEING RUINED .
ReplyDeleteThis reflects the low standards and incompetence of Compass Rock. Even though this is probably the most incompetent management company in New York City, they treat us as though they are paying us, rather than we are paying them, for the "privilege" of living here! They are damned hillbillies with hillbilly standards and taste!
ReplyDeleteGet out of here, you filth!
I've seen this all winter long. Now into spring. It's the dogs. There are enough owners who let the dogs go anywhere and don't clean up. And as pointed out before, it's not just owners inside PCV. People come over from 1st Ave and as far over as 2nd Ave. Really, I wonder when people will get mad enough to do something about QofL, MCIs and the rest. I've made offers to organize something...but the response shows me that the apathy and timidity here make it not worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you mean by "at its core". Sty Town IS a housing project. It always was, it always will be. I never could understand the resistance that people have to this fact. Even when it wasn't filthy, yes, it was still a housing project.
ReplyDeletePiles of Shit

Life at the Sty
Public Safety has certainly been turning a blind eye toward the dog rules here. The question is whether this situation is a result of PS itself or orders from above.
ReplyDeleteYup....Sounds about right!
ReplyDeleteThis place REALLY sucks!
I really wonder sometimes. Orders from above? I can tell you...in PCV Public Safety patrols the roads by driving through with their vehicles. That's it. You see no PS people walking around. There is just no effort to enforce anything. And why should there be? We have a TA that does nothing about this and outside of ranting here, there is no means to get anything addressed.
ReplyDeleteYou'd also think that simple courtesy to fellow tenants would mandate that dog owners not let their pooches piss and shit at or near the building entrance way.
ReplyDeleteThis is EXACTLY the reason why Met Life NEVER let dogs in here in the first place!! Do you here this, Management? This is now Piss&Shit Town.I am soo proud to bring my friends over. NOT!!
ReplyDeleteI have talked to PS officers on their way out to other law enforcement careers (they are now no longer here), its middle/upper CR management (non PS); there is no “got your six" from them, especially DH who throws them under the bus all the time. BTW, from the CR PCVST link:
ReplyDelete“Walk your dog on sidewalks and walkways. Dogs are not permitted on the grass, in the flower beds or on the playgrounds.”
Hah.
"Really, I wonder when people will get mad enough to do something about QofL, MCIs and the rest. I've made offers to organize something...but the response shows me that the apathy and timidity here make it not worth the effort."
ReplyDeleteI would join anything that is organized to raise the standards here and get rid of this vile bunch of grifters who are running the place into the ground. I don't recall ever seeing any option other than the TA, which we all know is useless.
Who/what is DH? Disgusting Hag? Dirty Ho? Department of Housing? Dense Harridan? Anybody we know and don't love?
ReplyDeleteDH is the usual suspect. Donalda Habersham.
ReplyDeleteI lived in a similar complex that allowed dogs but it had a management department that was professional and they hosed the walking paths every day, several times a day, to keep it safe and clean. This management company Compass Rock is causing an unsafe condition by not doing the same.
ReplyDelete"This management company Compass Rock is causing an unsafe condition by not doing the same."
ReplyDeleteUnsafe and insanitary. Especially dangerous to little kids who run and fall on the walkways. We walk that shit into our homes, so it affects us all. CR won't do anything about it though because they are hillbilly grifters and shit-splatter is ok by their standards.
It's not even the outsiders. Our neighbors do this.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, read this and stirred same anger as our own landlord who uses "natural disaster = act of God" to get out of accountability to tenants in court regarding the property we lost in Hurricane Sandy and at the same time playing victim of the Hurricane suing for excessive payments from the insurance company in court to profit from the storm while screwing us.
ReplyDeletePeople who use storms and natural disasters as a means to increase their profits are amoral and awful.

Just Jawdropping and completely disgusting.
5 53 not only the sidewalks - our interior (wait for photo) hallways now have dog pee which tenants do not bother to clean up. DISGUSTING.
ReplyDeleteWhy Albany makes us beg every year to save our homes
ReplyDelete"Dean Skelos wants to keep rent regulations, which very materially effect many millions of New Yorkers in very profound ways, a live issue forever. Why? Because the state’s top political donor, who just happens to be a major real estate developer, pays Dean Skelos’ son so that Dean Skelos will act favorably to that donor’s legislative priorities. Quite simply, Dean Skelos wants to these issues up every two years because there’s good money it for his kid, the concerns of millions of New Yorkers be damned.
But there is another reason Dean wants things this way, a reason that should be totally obvious, but isn’t mentioned in the City & State piece above. Dean wants to keep these regs a perennial live issue because it is very, very good financially for his conference that they never go away. As we’ve noted before, REBNY and its members donated a full 10% of all political donations in New York State last cycle. They gave almost $22 million to candidates last cycle. That’s not chump change.
And the real estate folks have been very, very good to Dean Skelos’ Republican conference, whom they perceive to be sympathetic to their legislative priorities, over the years. The generosity of the real estate crowd is a big reason Dean Skelos was able to expand his conference and win an outright GOP majority in the state Senate last year.
Keeping the key issues for the real estate industry, rent control and the 421-a tax abatement program, alive every cycle means that the industry is more than willing to throw mountains of money at the Republican Senate conference.
Oh, and because they pay Dean Skelos’ kid under the table.
So, given what we know now about what’s been happening behind the scenes with Skelos and Big Real Estate, how does this effect the looming expiration of the regs this summer? How can the public have any faith whatsoever in the negotiations to extend them? Why would the public believe a word anyone involved has to say about the subject?
That’s a serious question."

ReplyDeleteSorry to send you this link via comments - I couldn't find a place to send this on the site.
I found this article and thought to share. THough I am sure you are in the know. Thanks for keeping the community informed.
OK This is something.
ReplyDeletede Blasio just told the state legislature that he wants an end to vacancy decontrol, vacancy bonuses and permanent MCIs.
Mike McKee says, We’ve never had a mayor of New York stand meaningfully with the tenants of this city, and de Blasio’s done that now,”
The Daily News says the real estate industry will see it as a declaration of war. It also says
that up in Albany, Senate Republicans managed for years to block stronger rent laws. But the ground could be shifting, now that Republican Majority Leader Dean Skelos has joined the Democrats’ former Assembly speaker, Sheldon Silver, in the lineup of political leaders busted by the feds on charges of extorting a major landlord for money in exchange for pro-landlord legislation.
http://m.nydailynews.com/news/politics/exclusive-bill-de-blasio-proposes-enhance-rent-laws-article-1.2210269
This may also help shift the ground. Last year NY's Furman Center conducted research on rising rents in NYC and found that from 2005 to 2012, the median rental rate rose by 12% while the median household income only rose by 2%.
Email and call Cuomo's office and tell him to listen to our mayor.

Well, I just wrote to Cuomo and Hastie. I hope everyone who comes here does the same,
ReplyDeleteBetter yet smear it on a letter and mail to Andy Mac!
ReplyDeleteI have to say though, even the photos of the dog shit and piss are less stomach-churning than some of the people whose faces appear on this blog at times. The one below and the one to the right are cases in point.
ReplyDeleteThe only letter I am writing is to Preet. Everyone else is acting like they are king or a lord and not as what they are, someone with the distinction of being in a job that is to serve the people. They should not make any one person beg for the safety and the sanctity that is our home instead they should be protecting that with all their might and will power as their first priority and not prioritizing the developers or even the investors who put their money is a 1) bad investment 2) investment based on kicking us out of our homes to make themselves richer
ReplyDeleteIt is Cuomo and Heastie and all their local level pols job to keep constituents safe. They are selling us and displacing us and relocating us like we are objects of monetized assets and not the subjects their job is to serve. I will not send a post card begging for my home BUT I will expect and demand these fools do their job until we can get pols who aren't fools and puppets for the rich.
By the way, hate to tell you but a lot of the indoor pee in the basements and stairways is not from the dogs. Its from the partying kids.
ReplyDeleteGood article. Comments very smart, funny.

Cuomo and his sidekicks are killing Central Park blocking sun with shady tax breaks for billionaire row of towers.
some comments
"This is what I have been mentioning all along.
Cuomo is being investigated by Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara for taking massive political donations in return for signing a bill which grants a 90% property tax break to millionaires living in 5 luxury apartment towers that hover over Central Park, the most famous one named One57.
That is why Cuomo disbanded the Moreland Commission."
"Dean is not qualified nor has he ever been trustworthy to make decisions for NY. Everyone should google the complaint and download it US Justice Dept. United States of America v. Dean Skelos and Adam Skelos. It is easy reading and you will get a complete picture of this phony senator. He is a bad guy that in wiretaps laughing about flooding problems on Long Island with his son. Real fine example for a father.

Taxpayers, don't fool yourself, just voting differently won't make a heck of difference here in what is probably the most corrupt state in the 48. Yes, voting out ALL of the clowns in Albany is a start, but the political machine in this state is very powerful and will prefer up the next generation of miscreants and ne'er do wells. No, we need to demand more! We need term limits, campaign reform and finance transparency. Albany hacks need to have one job, and that's governing the state. Managing this crumbling state is a full time job.

Body cameras should be required for elected officials.they are responsible for more death and destruction than any other profession.
Curley • You have to be enraged that the TEAPubs left Skelos in a leadership position as they begin to consider placing limits on LLC donations--and looking at rent controls in NYC. The indictment makes clear those are two issues that Skelos has a clear conflict of interest on...that has been exposed...it is clear he is completely compromised from negotiating on those issues...yet he remains in a powerful leadership position? Time to go to Albany with pitchforks and take back our government. We are being pushed to the point where violent, direct action is becoming likely...the right spark is all that it will take and the guillotines will be constructed. These legislators need to go one way or another!
Howlingwolfs • Tax breaks for developers and his reward is a $200,000 a year fee for his son. I guess that he wanted his son to be able to afford to live on Long Island.

Good they are seeing some of Rob Speyer's "dealings" with Skelos, mentioned in the complaint. When will they investigate Rob Speyer's Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town dealings? This has to be one of the most corrupt schemes in the history of New York City.
ReplyDeleteFrom the New York Times
"Rob Speyer, chairman of the Real Estate Board and co-chief executive of Tishman Speyer, which controls Rockefeller Center and the Chrysler Building, has a cameo role in the complaint against the Skeloses. And Steven C. Witkoff, a developer who recently bought the Park Lane Hotel on Central Park South, has a role in the indictment of Mr. Silver, a Manhattan Democrat, according to a person with knowledge of the case.

No charges have been brought against the developers; in fact, their roles in the cases are as the victims of the alleged extortion.
But Michael McKee, treasurer of the Tenant Political Action Committee, who has tangled unsuccessfully with the real estate industry in Albany and at City Hall over rent regulations, took a darker view.
“I’m not sure I would call them victims,” Mr. McKee said of the real estate industry. “It seems to me they were beneficiaries. The real estate lobby has a lot of power in Albany in both houses and on both sides of the aisle. Their power comes from their money.”
Mr. Speyer shows up as a minor player in the Skelos case. According to prosecutors, Adam Skelos emailed a supervisor at the title company where he worked in January 2011, saying he would soon be having lunch with the president of a major commercial development company, “and he wants to start giving me his work.” The company is identified in the complaint as being the owner of the Chrysler Building, which is controlled by Tishman Speyer.
On Feb. 10, 2011, the younger Mr. Skelos and his father did have lunch with Mr. Speyer at Rockefeller Center, according to records cited by the prosecutors.
A month later, Tishman Speyer emailed Adam Skelos “asking him to produce a title report for a $250 million mortgage of the Chrysler Building complex,” according to the complaint, which did not

ReplyDeletehttp://therealdeal.com/blog/2015/05/05/is-rob-speyer-developer-2-in-skelos-case/
Tishman Speyer President Robert Speyer — the chairman of the Real Estate Board of New York, the city’s most powerful industry lobby — appears to be the unnamed “Developer 2” in the criminal complaint filed yesterday in the case against Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.
The complaint, which was filed by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, seems to use the high-profile Tishman Speyer executive as an example of how Skelos and his son, who were both arrested Monday, allegedly leveraged their power for personal gain.
I mailed all 3 of my letters the TA sent me to those elected officials. I encourage everybody else to do the same, Please!

ReplyDeletePeter cooper stuy town is run by the corrupt, I know a tenant that has lived (primary Residence) for over 30 yrs and now PCSVT is trying to evict them. Something needs to be done, the management office tries to evict people by using underhanded tactics that have no real substance, then when providing all necessary documentation proving this is one and only residence they refuse to return phone calls, HEY PETER COOPER STUY TOWN ADMINISTRATION YOU ARE NOT DOING YOUR JOBS CORRECTLY AND THIS WILL ALL BACK FIRE IN YOUR FACE BUT HEY GOOD LUCK WITH ALL THAT!!!!
