And while I'm talking about money, how dare any politician who is supposed to be for affordable housing and "the little guy" (ie, the middle class), accept money from the REBNY (Real Estate Board of New York), much less be seen at its annual banquet. The purpose of the REBNY is to get rid of tenant rental protections, make all apartments market rate, and build high-rises for the wealthy. From the REBNY website: "The Real Estate Board of New York unites more than 16,000 talented, influential real estate professionals as it works to protect, improve and advance the business of real estate in New York City." Rob Speyer, who ruined Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village during his reign here and his "best practices," is the Chairman of the REBNY.
Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Prediction on What Albany Will Do via Rent Stabilized Apartments
Just follow the money. The money will win.

We need a "Game Of Thrones" walk of shame for all of them. Ding-ding! Shame! Shame! Ding-ding! Shame! Shame!

The pols are no longer fooling the people, no longer fooling the press, and no longer fooling each other.

Shock: Spin spokesperson denies it
HA
Garodnick is betraying his community, throwing us out, and Marsh thinks and does what Garodnick tells him to think and do.
ReplyDeleteSteinberg and Marsh should not have hired REBNY Kane, Dan's firm Paul Weiss, and Dan's PR firm to spin their phony crap.
This just keeps getting worse and worse. My wife and I talk more frequently now about leaving new york altogether. Sick of the crooks and crookendness .
ReplyDeleteI completely agree they should return the money from the REBNY. The REBNY is viciously anti-tenant and anti-middle class. How dare they show their face campaigning here when they stab us in the back for the REBNY.
ReplyDeleteThese photographs make me want to vomit. I'm serious here. These really are the dregs of humanity and the best we can hope for is that they don't reproduce.
ReplyDeleteIt can't be hopeless. There has to be an answer. And there has to be pay back for the screw job going on now.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, this latest bout oughta be a massive call to arms to repeal Urstadt for good. Why are NYC tenants' fates resting in the hands of Senate legislators from Syosset and Canandaigua? What the hell does it have to do with them?
ReplyDeleteUrstadt is nothing more than the same sort of legalized, institutionalized corruption that Albany has become infamous for. Upstate and LI Republicans get loads of cash from Big Real Estate to pass laws that affect exactly zero of their constituents, a win-win for them and their benefactors at NYC tenants expense.
Forty five years of this bullshit is enough, NYC rent regulations should be decided by the local representatives that we vote for and can hold accountable, not by sleazy politicians from the far-flung corners of the state.
and so is the NYC doh dhcr. Totally biased, completely and fully ANTI tenant. Shame on them, shame on us who elected the criminals.
ReplyDeleteThese photos of politicians going to the anti-tenant REBNY fundraiser belong in the permanent Hall of Shame.
