ST/PCV Dog Policy is a COMPLETE FAILURE

Seen the other day along the walkway corridor between the 500 East 20 St buildings, a frequent dumping and pissing area for dog walkers:

Now for a closer look at what was left behind: (Apologies for the graphic nature of the photos.)

Left side:

Right side:

Dog piss and shit stains and actual turds all over the complex! Thank you, CWCapital and CompassRock, for maintaining this place so impeccably. And thank YOU, Rob Speyer, who changed the no-dog policy here during his (failed) reign! Wish I could package these turds and send them over your way.

  2. This is exactly why Met Life never allowed dogs here.

  3. Everything that Compass Rock does is a complete failure because, as a manager, Compass Rock is a complete failure. They should have kept Adam Rose because that is a company that has experience and know-how when it comes to running a residential complex. This place is out of CR's league. CR is nothing more than a cobbled-together outfit to ensure that CWCap keeps all the profits and pays itself for doing a lousy job. Preet, where are you?

  4. So gross. Watched it today too. Woman on east 20th, near the deli, walking her dog, let it crap and then walked on. She was about 22 years old!!! LOSER ALERT

That's precisely what it is and why it was created.

  8. NYC is a complete failure thanks to REBNY

Cuomo's revenge vendetta is transparent so is Cuomo's press campaign against NYC Mayor De Blasio. Cuomo Modus Operandi:

"In Washington, he was “the most hated” secretary the Department of Housing and Urban Development had ever had, an arrogant and occasionally cruel taskmaster who demanded he be referred to as “Mr. Secretary,” who told a future nemesis that criminal sanctions were less effective punishment for his enemies than “adverse publicity, reputational harm, budget-cutting and legislative action.”

  10. I wish there was something we could do about this. You'd think that it would just be young families that have dogs and they'd be small dogs but there are plenty of older people who own dogs. And of course there are people from the other side of 14th and the other side of 1st Ave who walk their dogs here. They all just don't give a shit but their dogs do.

  11. The dog owners here are so irresponsible. They ignore the regulations. One day one of the NYU cretins had a dog off the leash running around the laundry room. The dog licked my foot. When I told her that dogs were not allowed in the laundry room, she looked at me like I was from outer space. The barking at night is disruptive to sleep. This policy allowing dogs is another blow to the quality of life here. This place is truly becoming a dorm dump.

  12. The property management company should hose the walkways.

  13. Those who do not pick up after their dogs make for crappy parents too. They don't pick up after their kids and they teach their kids not to pick up after themselves.

  15. What is this bloggers opinion on littering? So instead of just picking it up or using the street sweeper, we are subject to re-inacting "Alice's Restaurant" (kids ask your mom or dad).
Oh what to do? A known dumping/littering area, perhaps station a PS officer who can issue summons. State of the art cameras can identify more than likely a repeat customer. Why is dog poop not on the porters "to-do" list? Littering last I heard is illegal, cigarette butts are littered all over ever bench area, there is No Smoking in public parks, call it what is is, a park-like oasis.
The constant whining is petty, we have the technology, the manpower, or a voice to solve this simple problem.

  16. A bigger load of crap is Cuomo Langone Hochul Garodnick Brookfield pretending they are the good guys and Compass Rock is the big bad enemy when they are all in it together.

No matter how much they rig the system we all know their PR spin is a load of crap.

Langone NYU is running PCVST into the ground so Cuomo Langone Hochul Garodnick can pretend to be heroes rescuing it but we all know those four were key in paving the way for the demise. Compass Rock is not the big bad enemy. They are the scapegoat by design to divert attention away from the real culprits.

  17. With Cuomo running DHCR our overcharge complaints get ignored or worse rigged

Cuomo putting his ally as head of the NY court system, the ally he had prosecute his ex-wife, anyone in PCVST will be blocked from justice in the courts too just like we hit a brickwall at DHCR.

The working middle class in NY is doomed with Cuomo choosing who runs the court system and Albany having a revenge vendetta against NYC and Cuomo Langone Garodnick Stringer Brewer Hochul taking our homes and land.

All of NYS is a failure under Cuomo rigged by Cuomo

  18. Compass Rock are not the enemy.

Compass Rock are a collection of transient insignificant grifters doing the dirty work on the front lines while behind the scenes politicians and real estate developers turn affordable housing complexes into luxury dorms and luxury condos across the country handing over valuable land to the Langones and Tishmans in return the insignificant sociopath grifters a.k.a. "special servicers" get large sums of money, the politicians get campaigns financed and the Langones and Tishmans get the land minus the occupants who are evicted by the politicians assuring the regulators and courts turn a blind eye.

The special servicer grifters move on the their next target, in another city or state. The Langones and Tishmans and Politicians pretend to come in and clean up the grifters mess. That is why Garodnick began a PR campaign with that NYTimes article portraying Garodnick as a tenant advocate when he was running for speaker, planning a follow up PR stunt after the grifters develop the property and evict the resdients, of saving 20% of the affordable housing.

The scam is out in the open.

In 5 years, begun by Bloomberg / Quinn City Council under watchful eyes and helping hands of Garodnick Hoylman, Kavanagh, Brewer, Cuomo, Kane, and Schneiderman; NYU Langone destroyed thousands of affordable housing homes creating Massive Inequality in a once stabilized community that thrived for half a century.

All deserve their legacy of Causing Inequality.

  19. On the same note, has anyone ever noticed the Jackson Pollock like piss art in the oval? You would have an initial puddle of piss which streaks out in different directions all over the oval. I try to avoid walking in the sty but sometimes I must traverse the oval depending on where I park my car. Unlike you though STR, I'm in a good place now. I couldn't care less about this dump anymore. I hope it implodes entirely as I do the rest of this city.

  20. Then Yelp is not credible. Completely false and why would anyone check their sites. All tenants should post on yelp that YELP allows fake reviews for stuytown Pcv reviews.

  21. "I couldn't care less about this dump anymore. I hope it implodes entirely as I do the rest of this city."

Gee, Thanks! Very kind of you! Some of us are pretty much stuck here because we can't afford to move and actually love our apartments which have been HOME for many years. We may despise the filth that is running this place and the filth who are our elected "representatives," but we do care about this dump! That said, I would like to see the city implode because real estate prices would probably drop, the pols would have less buyable value to the developers and, hopefully, the flyover state crowd would stop migrating here and, better yet, many of them might go home!

    ReplyDelete
  22. 11:18 AM: Garodnick's agenda from Day 1 has been to serve the interests of his Real Estate Masters and use the constituents who foolishly elected him as a tool to further his agenda. He doesn't give a flying fuck about any of us except on election day and I hope he and Stringer don't have the balls to run again. Two parasites with their own agenda and symbiotic relationship. These are the kind of pols that His Darkness Andrew Cuomo loves to recruit to help further his land-grabbing poisonous agenda.

  23. There was homeless guy taking a shit right by the Avenue C loop by Playground 11. This was about 2:00AM last night. Some of the NYU frat bros saw him and began catcalling, laughing, and making fun of this sad down-an-out man. He pulled up his pants and scurried away shouting, " Fuck you all you white muthafuckas." Both comical and so very sad. I wonder if anyone else witnessed this and called our crack public safety squad. Oops, they must have been dozing or checking their cellphones. How this place has fallen!

  27. Schneiderman and DiNapoli, the state watchdogs are ignoring scandals everywhere, PCV ST and this Buffalo Billion
They are all afraid of Cuomo
    Preet is doing everyone's job

    http://www.investigativepost.org/2015/09/21/new-yorks-sleeping-watchdogs/

Two developers who serve on the Buffalo School Board have questioned whether LPCiminelli overcharged the district to manage a massive schools reconstruction program, yet neither the attorney general or comptroller can bring themselves to look into the matter. The comptroller actually turned down requests from both Ciminelli and the School Board to review spending on the schools project.

Fortunately, Bharara’s probe is taking a look at the schools, as well.

Back of the envelope estimates of the possible over-charges range up to several hundred million dollars. Keep in mind that the state covered most of the school construction costs. Yet DiNapoli and Schneiderman aren’t curious, which I find, well, curious.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Maybe he would investigate PCV ST

At the end of the day, they all work for Andrew Cuomo, whose motto when it comes to transparency appears to be “Mum’s the Word.”

    Bad news

  48. I doubt they are using the dog poop as a strategy to rid of tenants. The dog poop is lazy bad pet guardians and a lower class of property management who are not hosing the walkways regularly which any quality, luxury complex would do.

This property management isn't really staffed with people of class and they are doing everything possible to keep the operating costs low to make the property appear more profitable then it really is. They are a bit greasy and slick and their hedge fund bosses are a little bit trashy but with lots of money. I wouldn't describe them as a classy operation so it is not surprising there is dog poop on the walkways.

Metlife kept the property pristine because they invested in what they considered their crown jewel, the largest residential middle class apartment complex on the country. A crown jewel badge of honor.

The current property management and their suitors (Brookfield, that Hedge Fund) are all about the money, no honor, just the dollars.

  57. Ah come on. Dogs are literally man's best friend. (On an inter-species level at least.) What kind of community bans dogs? A strange dystopian one that's what. There is poop left all over New York City. Because people here are assholes. We live in a city where people feed pigeons. What, you think people in PCVST are/were that much more genteel than the rest? Come on!!! Meanwhile I've been dealing with human urine in my stairwell, which coincidentally I like to use sometimes to exercise with my dog. That is a way more insidious problem than the dog shit problem, which I admit is pretty bad too. But guns don't kill people, and dogs pooping is like that too--more of a people problem than a dog problem. Even if dogs were banned from living in PCVST there's always gonna be interlopers who walk around this public-access property and most likely, leave poops and what not. Unless this is made a gated community the specter of dog poop will always hang over your head.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The profit CW Compass Rock is making every month from this property is obscene. They can well afford a few grounds crew to hose the walkways but they are keeping the operating costs dangerously low, so low it is lower than any decent property manager would do. That is why Mr Sullivan quit PCVST. Hosing the sidewalks is the decent thing to do bu there is not a shred of decency or morality in the bunch of them.

Not for nothing but it's about time us dog owners stuck together and made our voices heard. While I'm not quite as enamored by fecal matter as this fellow, I certainly wouldn't look at a pile or two of dog shit on the property and deduce that the "dog policy is a complete failure." Actually, when you consider the amount of dog shit and piss on the property compared to the amount of dogs (not to mention dogs from outside the sty) I think it's a success.

  63. "12:30 PM: buoy don't think the TA live here and are aware of the dog shit splattered all over the property?! Pay your dues for what, exactly?"

Pay your dues for what you say? Seriously? Do you think YOU could have orchestrated the impending affordable condo conversion all by yourself? I don't. We can thank DG and the TA for that. That's why you pay your dues. As a result of the TA's Hard work anyone who decides to buy their apt will become millionaires. It works for me. Do you really think the TA and DG would have multiple successive tenant meetings with a financial advisory team and a legal team without first having the deal worked out with CW Capital? Don't you think that would kind of be indicative of arrogance and incompetence? Therefore, we just need to be a little more patient. I realize there are people just hanging on (for 6 years) paying market rates, but the prize is on the horizon.

Keep the faith! Pay your dues!

    ReplyDelete
  64. >>Keep the faith! Pay your dues!<<

Not sure if you are making a joke with your post. The TA has been terrible. Zero transparency. Hovering around silly issues rather than the important ones. The condo idea is misguided, if it still is alive. And if it is alive it is on life support.

I refuse to pay any more dues to the TA unless they step up first and show that they are fighters, not sleepers.

Do you walk about the property? Everywhere there is dog urine, the residue of dog fecal matter, and, yes, unpicked up dog feces periodically. The dog policy IS a failure and with the amount of dogs increasing, getting worse with each month. Aside from that, dog owners from outside the complex are using the property as dog urinals and crap dumpers.

  66. I adore the fact that they can't hose the sidewalks, put proper signage re: noise and safety in lobbies, but can spend thousands of dollars daily blowing leaves that are not there, putting stones in for tables or not (weeks to put down 8 stones), groom all trees and shrubs.

  67. October 11, 2015 at 11:16 AM therein lies the problem with Dan and the TA plan. You just admitted their goal is for flippers and not homeowners.

"anyone who decides to buy their apt will become millionaires".

Dan and the TA plan was never about people keeping the safety and sanctity of their home and living in their home, it is always about flipping it.

Flippers are transients. Just as transient as students. That is why a lot of the new stabilizers are entitled, hostile, shallow people. They are using their apartments as a payday and not as a home, like the long timers who raised generations of families.

The TA and Dan plan is a get rich scheme for transient flippers who want to become "instant millionaires"

The greed motivation of the new stabilizers surely explains why the people in our building who want to buy their apartments are being harsh to the rent stabilizers.

Its all about money. No humanity. No community.
