The Exodus of the Tree Rats

Sorry. You look cute, but you and your friends have to go!

(The pigeons are next!)

  1. They're not the first things I would like to see go.

  2. Someone on the Tenants fb (not the TA fb) said "Kill the Pigeons" as a response to a post showing a photograph of an elderly lady feeding squirrels and pigeons. If I see anybody do anything cruel to the squirrels and/or pigeons (and I'm out and about a lot every day on the property) I will immediately contact the ASPCA and the Humane Society. So sick of the fucking whiners and complainers. We have always had squirrels and pigeons because Stuyvesant Town and PCV were in a park setting and that was the winningest thing about them. Sure the rents (back in the day) were low, but we also didn't have a/c. The critters just come with the territory of living in a development that is in a park. Go live in a fucking building with not a tree or shrub or blade of grass within a mile of it and then you won't have to deal with pigeons and squirrels. I hate these crybaby idiots. They and their dogs are the blight on the landscape, along with the vomiting, pissing screaming students.

  3. Soon only Pokémon will be allowed in PCVST. A virtual creature for the virtual crowd.

  4. These idiots who walk with their heads down, fixated on their phones or tablets should all go ass-over-heels. Maybe cracking their heads on the sidewalks (or bumping into light poles) will knock some intelligence into their empty heads. It looks like the Zombie Apocalypse out there. Even the women pushing strollers are totally focused on their iShit. Same goes for the ones in the parks where the squirrels roam with the purpose of eating the zombies' babies.

  5. Does Rick and Blackstone charge the squirrels for housing here too? Hopefully they're not getting renovations and an MCI monthly.

  6. Normal, clean people who take exception to the puddles of piss at the base of garbage cans and other structures on the property, the strips of piss all over the grounds, the errant piles of shit and shit stains all over the property, the blotches of piss on the piss wall surrounding 5 sty cafe; and on the other side are dog owners who are totally fine with it. So it goes at the sty...... Clean people lose, dog owners living in the sty win. STR will continue to blog about it (because it's his blog ok?) and nothing will ever change.

We all got what we deserved. My 1 bedroom in the sty is $1523. I'm grateful I'm only overpaying by about a grand. No one forced me to take the apt, no one guaranteed it would stay a clean, habitable community. The sty is a reflection of this dump of a city as a whole.

  7. 75% pay twice that for your one bedroom. Feel better?

  8. The article goes on and on about another politician who is "above the law". A headline saying no corruption found then the article body details how City Hall knew about the condo conversion and lied and to top it all off another lobbyist, an infamous one at that, wrote the official document, the "justification memo" for the deed removal. REBNY writes the laws for the City Council person and this lobbyist of St Vincents luxury condos infamy writes the LES luxury condo that replaced the community Rivington House health care facility. The article goes on to say how completely "clueless" but not "corrupt". It is hard to believe they are clueless, but so be it, if they are clueless then they are ill equipped for the job at hand. Voting them out for being unqualified for the job is the logical next step so we can get politicians who write laws instead of these politicians who let lobbyists write laws. Laws that the peasants have to abide by and the politicians and lobbyists are apparently above.

  9. Lobbyists are doing very well for themselves under Bill de Blasio. Communities and Citizens, not so well.

And on the Tenant Association's relationship with the landlord. Both the Tenant Association and the landlord use the same lobbying PR firm. That is a very big conflict of interest and a very big problem for tenants. It puts into question whether the Tenant Association should continue to be at the negotiating table on the MCI deals we all keep losing big on.

"Mr. Rosen’s firm represented Blackstone, which bought Stuyvesant Town, in a deal that was partially negotiated and announced by City Hall."

From what I see BerlinRosen uses a lot of upscale New Yorkers! I'm not that much in a huff over this, although I don't see why the TA needs, and pays for, a PR firm.

  11. The reason two parties would share the same PR firm is so they can be on the same page with coordinated messages to control the public opinion. A PR firm cannot ethically have two clients who are opposing each other, eg in negotiations as MCI's.

75% being stupider than I am does not make me feel better. I'm still stupid. Thanks for asking.

  13. From the Metropolitan Council of Housing webpage:

“When choosing a private lawyer, you may want to consider:

Does your lawyer represent only tenants, and never landlords? A lawyer who represents both tenants and lawyers may be knowledgeable about the court process, but there may be a conflict of interest. In most cases, housing lawyers will have many more landlord clients than tenant clients. Your own landlord may have hired the law firm in the past, and/or may do so again in the future. Also, the lawyer may be much more experienced in fighting for the interests of landlords and may be unfamiliar with many parts of the law that can benefit tenants. Met Council on Housing suggests that tenants find a lawyer who only represents tenants.”

IMO, the same rational should apply in picking out a PR firm as well. BTW, I see nothing wrong in having the TA use a vendor for PR. The question is as illustrated above.

  14. " A PR firm cannot ethically have two clients who are opposing each other, eg in negotiations as MCI's."

In that case, the TA should either get rid of BR or disband itself immediately because it cannot possibly represent the tenants' best interests if it is sharing the same PR company as Management. That is totally unethical and probably illegal.

  15. Could someone please explain, in very simple terms, what possible need a Tenants' Association might have for a public relations firm?

This makes no sense whatever. Moreover, a thinking individual might be able to understand why this is more than suspect, even were it a neutral firm.

Something, indeed many things, are very, very wrong here.

  16. There is no Tenants Association here. Period!

  17. 75% not stupidier. They just need a home, like you. Pipe down on the cheap rental.

  18. BR is also the PR firm for the Mayor. All around conflicts of interest and shady on the Tenant Associaiton's part.

  19. Who in this project pays cheap rent? I don't know anyone who is. Real R/S tenants pay less than fake ones, but I don't know anyone who has a "cheap rental".

  20. I know someone who pays less than $1000 for an non air conditioned 3 BR. They're moving out feet first.

  25. Among the donors to the Mayor's now shuttered Campaign for One New York over the past six months were LLCs affiliated with Tishman Hotel & Realty – which gave a combined $20,000. One New York is exactly what he is building, one for the rich smattered with a small percentage of working class to clean and cook for them. Of course he is taking money from the person who made no secret of decimating and demolishing PCVST Middle Class. Never again for anything will he have our votes. "Tishman Hotel & Realty" to replace Middle Class PCVST residents with the types of people worthy of his One New York and it ain't us.

Mayor de Blasio’s non-profit that’s under multiple investigations released its last financial filing late Friday – showing $60,000 in donations and more than $370,000 in expenditures.

The Campaign for One New York took in more than $4.4 million since launching in January 2014 – largely from five- and six-figure donations from unions and firms with business before the city, which also made it the target of criticism by good government groups.

Among the donors over the past six months were LLCs affiliated with Tishman Hotel & Realty – which gave a combined $20,000 – and two midtown hotel giants that donated three weeks after being touted by the mayor for their involvement in an emissions reduction program.

  26. Well, I feel totally like giving up. Maybe it's my mood, in which case I'll be back, but you've won. The "you've" is the City Council, our Mayor, Blackstone and their rep Rick, the "high" price of living here. You've all won. I just want to live in what peace I can have. You are welcome to fuck things up as best you can. (No doubt that is NOT what you are going for, but the result is the same.) Look around. If you are truly happy, I'm sorry. I can't feel that way. I just want to live and be left alone. I see "the rules" broken every time I go out, and not many people give a shit. STPCV is over and done with, and has been for some time, whether you are aware of it or not. Maybe if you are lucky you won't know or you won't give a shit.

I'm done with monitoring this blog. I don't even have the will to shut it down at the main posts. I just won't be passing anything through.

Good luck. You will need it. Maybe you will get it.
