Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

This is NOT an Ad for this Place, But....
It's in Brooklyn with much availability (at least right now and for this ad) that is lower than what Stuy Town/Peter Cooper is currently asking for. As more and more new buildings will replace older ones, in Manhattan and elsewhere, the competition will get fierce to have Stuy Town and Peter Cooper measure up, if the complex isn't there already. Yeah, I know we have a location in Manhattan, but I'm raised a Brooklyn boy, so Parkline doesn't look too bad and my "job" doesn't mandate that I stay in Manhattan. But I'm not moving--unless I win Lotto.
It is the same tower nonsense as on Central Park South shadowing Central Park but this shadows Park Slope Prospect Park and this will soon have its view of Manhattan blocked as de blasio builds more towers in Brooklyn. All the city parks will soon have towers all around their borders so the Parks can be enjoyed by only those in the towers who have pushed out everyone else. So much for Public Parks and whoever is on the Parks Committee at the City Council which should be called the City Real Estate Council. Plus they are begging people to rent by giving away 2 months free - what does that tell you about de blasio's NYC development vision?
ReplyDeleteWe love our towers! Build, build, build. Preferably around parks that can be enjoyed or exclusive neighborhoods.
ReplyDeleteBTW, have you been to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden? Beautiful place that is slowly getting high rises around it.
ReplyDeletehahahaha! excellent sarcasm and witty post. excellent.
ReplyDeleteSoon Cuomo's solar plants will build canopy solar panel roofs over the Botanical Gardens to get sunlight to the poor flowers.
ReplyDeleteRemember DeBozo's gleeful cry: "I have no hangups about height." He wasn't talking about his tallness, but about the building that was going to get done under his regime. What an asshole. New York is going to become so unlivable that in a few years people will be clamoring to get out. Then we'll be left with all these zombie highrises that will litter the landscape.
ReplyDeleteThe Park-bordering Towers are courtesy of incumbents who let developers do whatever they want.
ReplyDeleteTrump admitted to the Wall Street Journal in 2015 what we all know that when he and people like him donate to politicians "they do whatever the hell you want them to do"
"Mr. Trump has been open about his motives. “As a businessman and a very substantial donor to very important people, when you give, they do whatever the hell you want them to do,” he told The Wall Street Journal in July 2015 in discussing donations to Mrs. Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. “As a businessman, I need that.”
Today the Wall Street Journal said that includes Attorney General Offices from New York to Florida to California.
Trump gave NY AG $12,500 in 2010 which his office says they later returned.

I wish I could say Hillary and Crew were better. I think we are screwed, either way. Just my hunch.
ReplyDeleteSTR Your hunch is correct. What do you think Trump expected in return for $12,500?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think a developer gets if they give an Attorney General 121,000X the amount Trump gave?
What do you think Tishman Speyer Properties who has a lot of business in front of the attorney General Office got by giving to the NY Attorney General $652,000.00 in 2010 and $70,000.00 in 2014?
PCVST Tenants wrote no checks to the Office of Attorney General and we got in return just what we gave to the Public Servant Office of an Elected.

The second biggest contributor to the New York Attorney General office is Tishman Speyer Properties. Second only to contributions from the Attorney General's mom and dad.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing we can give them is our votes. I plan to vote for anyone opposing incumbents, not that I think they will be better.
ReplyDeleteWe desperately need campaign finance reform and term limits in Albany as well as the City. Bloomturd, with the help of that bitch, Quinn, shitted on the will of the people with his insisting on buying a third term. They can do damage in any term, but they shouldn't be given a third fucking term to do more damage.
"tons of amenities"
ReplyDeleteDid a 5 year old write this ad?
Mountains of amenities! So many, in fact, that you will not know what to do!
ReplyDeleteBut don't forget our own amenities. Artisanal bread, for one!

DHCR has published the new A/C charges that went into effect on October 1. Because electrical costs went down this year (as did other costs, hence the rent freeze), the A/C charge has gone down. It will now be $26.65 per month per air conditioner. The decision came too late to be included in the October rent bills, so we should see a credit on our November bills.
ReplyDeleteDidn't they mean to write "tons of ammunition" ? This is Prospect Lefferts we're talking about, right ?
ReplyDeleteSTR, you would be paying more for a one bedroom there than you're paying for your two bedroom here. Plus, what makes you think that it would be any better? It's probably just another housing project.
ReplyDelete26.65? that's really high. Is that a joke?

ReplyDeleteMuch better than my over priced 2 br and much better location. Just saying... break that lease.
>>STR, you would be paying more for a one bedroom there than you're paying for your two bedroom here.<<
ReplyDeleteOne reason that I'm not moving. Of course, I'm speaking of new "market rate" people.
Or has anyone checked out queens lately? Much of it is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Queens!
ReplyDeleteThe problem is: where a person works. The rush hour transportation is hellish.
ReplyDeletestr you are right, the rush hour from queens isn't great, but neither is living next to the river almost one mile from the subway.
ReplyDeleteAstoria is becoming hellish. Overcrowded, "luxury" condos going up everywhere and pushing smaller buildings and mom&pop stores out. Lots of hipsters riding bikes on sidewalk and lots of delivery guys on motorized bikes on the sidewalk. You would hate it, STR.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that Baruch gets free publicity on the TA page. To be fair, why not NYU?
ReplyDeleteI'm not moving to Queens! I lived there-forever it seems.
ReplyDeleteseriously you know they found their way around a soon to be bar, an open market, a bakery and commercialness and ya think they're not on their way to any height they want?
ReplyDeletebak to those needing to break their lease , please advise here or somewhere details as i lost my job last month, i can't afford the crib here any longer - would someone like to sublet it , it's nice but pricey, closing in on almost 4,000 a month, cant do it. walking out soon.
