Home, Sweet Home

Some photos taken Election Day, the 8th of November. There are many more "events," but you get the idea. Depending on your computer, you can make these bigger. Some dog owners just leave their dog's crap wherever. What's it to you? The streams of dog piss are incredible in Peter Cooper Village, btw. The faux marble is ruined, and some of the sidewalks near the buildings--well, I hope you are good at skipping. This is what having dogs in ST and PCV means. And "the rules" mean nothing to some people. It will get worse.

  1. It takes no more than 2 days after a rain to build up plenty of shit and piss stains.
Check out the area between 3 peter cooper road and 440 e 23rd. Great spot for your next vacation.

  2. Of course, management does nothing about this except hoping residents will obey "the rules." Oh, a few tickets. Yes, I see the tickets being written up, periodically, around the loop. But otherwise, forget about it!

And, again, the questions reverberate: Why should decent residents care? Why should they do Blackstone's job? Who is paid to do this job?

  3. Looks like it.

    Smells like it.

    Feels like it.

    Tastes like it.

Good thing we didn't step in it.

  4. Get rid of the dogs and you eliminate the problem. Want to stop bikes from traveling 30 mph around you, reinstate the no bike riding policy that also was always here, problem solved. Very easy! BUT, the owners want to keep everyone happy. But you know what, not everyone here is happy! This place is a dump!

You are trouble paying rent? Is that because you don't know how to pay rent or don't have the money to pay the rent?

  9. The rain will wash away the piss and shit. Deal with it dog owners, you'll have plenty of opportunities to foul the property again.

If you are not eligible for SCRIE (Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption), then you might be screwed unless you can get a loan, which I'm sure will lost you more in the long run.

  13. November 15, 2016 at 8:58 AM STR 40% of that Blackstone building is Section 8 Tenants which will now be under the same treatment that Andrew MacArthur gave to PCVST.

    Same as here
de Blasio turns a blind eye again, same as Rivington, when Section 8 Tenants are harassed and evicted

"Mayor Bill de Blasio alleged that the firm intentionally kept City Hall in the dark over the deal."

The same law firm that Tishman Speyer hired to clear out Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town is at the center of the 222-224 West 21 scandal Belkin, Burden, Wenig & Goldman

Belkin, Burden, Wenig & Goldman and Skadden Arps opposed us on Roberts.

Sounds like it is time to vote for a new Mayor who is not as easily kept in the dark on matters as important as housing.

  14. SCRIE only serves to freeze your rent and protect you from increases and MCI's. You still need to pay the rent at the rate set when it was frozen. You need to be at least 62, have income of less than $50K a year and spend at least 1/3 of your monthly income on rent.

  15. Oh man. Everytime STR sees those suits walking around they are up to no good and the Mayor always says they misled his administration or he is in the dark or he is in the know and keeping all of us in the dark. This Mayor is closing all the hospitals and health care for the real estate developers, St Vincents, LICH, Beth Israel all closed by Bill De Blasio. They are taking all the jobs away and all the homes away and all the health care away. This mess belongs to the Mayor. He is not my brother.

“They just want it to be a very quiet transition,” she said of Mount Sinai. “Something’s not right. Something’s off.”

"When Mount Sinai took over Beth Israel, the third nurse said, there were suddenly a lot of “suits” walking around. There were assurances that the hospital would see its hours increase and that more doctors would fill the facilities. But it never happened."

When he ran for mayor, Bill de Blasio campaigned on a platform of stopping the wave of hospital closings. But the Beth Israel nurses have little faith that he can do anything in this case.

“I don’t know if de Blasio has the power — or the political will” to keep Beth Israel open, the third nurse said, adding, “He didn’t do much at LICH when he ran for mayor.”

In August 2013, mayoral candidate de Blasio held a press conference outside the closed St. Vincent’s Hospital, which many saw as a calculated swipe at Christine Quinn, since the hospital was in her Council district and many felt she had not done enough to try to save it.

“Mayor Bloomberg let 12 hospitals close on his watch,” de Blasio told the crowd. Bloomberg, he declared, “did not lift a finger” to try to save St. Vincent’s.

“We’re not going to accept the arguments that because it’s a challenging situation, we’re not going to get involved,” de Blasio said then. “Mayors are supposed to get involved — that’s what we’re here for. This is the moment when we need to turn the corner.”
Pointing over at the Greenwich Lane luxury condo project rising on the former St. Vincent’s site, de Blasio told the crowd, “Brothers and sisters, we cannot, and we will not let this happen again.”

But it’s a good bet that if Beth Israel does, in fact, close, “this” will happen again — namely, Beth Israel will be replaced with yet another high-end residential apartment building, the same exact thing that happened with St. Vincent’s.

More student dorms are coming. Mt Sinai Beth Israel is selling Gilman Hall at 17th & First Avenue to replace it with a bigger, more profitable luxury condo and moving those Mt Sinai tenants into Stuyvesant Town Student Housing.

  20. Home Sweet Home = Home Sweet Shit thanks to Blackstone. Safe pedestrian walkways = death traps for seniors and anyone who kind jump like an olympian to avoid getting rammed or clipped by a fucker on a bike or skateboard. Thank you Blackstone for making this place a filthy, dangerous SHIT HOLE.

  21. Got tangled up with dogs, at least seven, from both sides this afternoon on Stuy Town side of First Ave because the Walker stopped to pick up something! Was literally stopped in my tracks because of the dogs!

  22. Management's latest "initiative" is composting. They want us to use brown bins to compost our food waste. Considering that they haven't even managed to get the current clown show of tenants to recycle properly, how the hell do they expect people to compost correctly? People already leave every thing, including organic waste, in any and every recycling bin and I'm pretty sure that nobody is going to take any notice of the brown bins (except maybe to drop their bottles and dirty cans into them) so this is really an outstanding example of how out of touch Management is with the way people live here.

When Management finally "manages" to get tenants and non-tenants to obey the basic rules concerning safety (bikes and skateboards come to mind) and basic recycling protocols, then they should come out with something as progressive as organic composting. Since they haven't even grasped the rudiments in making tenants obey basic rules, let them take their composting and shove it where the sun don't shine! Composting is an admirable concept, but not in a place as lawless and badly managed as this dump. I can't believe how "pie-in-the-sky" out of touch this management company is. They must all be on drugs.
Enforce basic safety and noise rules first, you ASSHOLES, and then ask us to compost and get with the progressive program!

  23. All the lottery apartments which are definitely affordable are going to students. what the fuck is that, that is outrageous. of course it was in the 'plan'. Only a student lives here on an income that low - with the help of m om and dad of course. THIS IS CLASS A BULLSHIT.
