On Anti-Americanism

Our councilman, Dan Garodnick, posted the other day a photo of an anti-Semitic sign over Papaya on 14th St and Ist Ave. State Senator Hoylman addressed anti-gay and anti-Semitic swastikas written in his building....

I consider these signs and activities as anti-American. They do not hold the values that I and others hold, namely that everyone, regardless of race or creed should be treated with dignity, unless that person is a proven son-of-a-bitch that deserves to be treated otherwise.

That said, I must state a warning: Do not automatically assume these anti-Americans as Trump supporters, or Pence or the Republican Party supporters. They could very well be or they could also be people who are using the election results against Trump by instigating false hoaxes. There have been a slew of these false hoaxes, though recent NYC police reports are pretty damning.

This is the game that is being played now: set up the "other guy" as a bad fellow because of whom he or she voted for. This is where I part company with Garodnick and others of his type ("New York Values"), who insist on highlighting for political purposes "us vs. them," the them being Trump and the Republican Party. I am not willing to play the game or be used by politicians for the game. And I am aware of the game.

If possible, I want all these anti-Americans caught and shamed and judged legally. I trust that is what all of us want.

Update 12/7/16: I may have been wrong about my assumption that the Papaya graffiti was anti-Semitic.  More at the newest blog post.

  1. You said it STR. Not only is the media full of dog crap shit, but now people use it too. Disgusting.

  2. If we are "real," we will admit that the Papaya graffiti is done by people or a person who hasn't voted. I checked the top of Papaya out and I kinda know who may be responsible. The Hoylman stuff, probably older culprits, but that area has been plagued with crime against gays specifically So probably not voters, too, though obviously one can't be certain. I would hope we could get together on these items, instead of using them to attack a particular person or person for political reasons. Garodnick instead will use these things as attack on one particular side, while supporting high rises and big business in general. His insistence not to support the small business owner is telling. And in case you haven't noticed, the small business is dying in this city. Prices are also going up--here, there, everywhere. Five cents here, and five cents (or more) there. It will add up, if it hasn't already. And we will bitch but pay.

  3. Yes. Oh wait, it's the NY Times so it's just the liberal media again.

"In Washington Pizzeria Attack, Fake News Brought Real Guns"

"WASHINGTON — Edgar M. Welch, a 28-year-old father of two from Salisbury, N.C., recently read online that Comet Ping Pong, a pizza restaurant in northwest Washington, was harboring young children as sex slaves as part of a child-abuse ring led by Hillary Clinton.

The articles making those allegations were widespread across the web, appearing on sites including Facebook and Twitter. Apparently concerned, Mr. Welch drove about six hours on Sunday from his home to Comet Ping Pong to see the situation for himself, according to court documents. Not long after arriving at the pizzeria, the police said, he fired from an assault-like AR-15 rifle. The police arrested him. They found a rifle and a handgun in the restaurant. No one was hurt."

BTW, the Bowery Boogie has a disclaimer which should be taken seriously re these NYC based anti-semantic stories.

“Trump scumbags everywhere,” our tipster noted (assuming the vandal is said sympathizer)."

In NYC, I think this classic mis-info. Outside NYC I think it is the real thing-backed by Trump supporters.

  4. BTW, I am still seeing ridden bicycles around the Oval, and the absence of PS security, except in sporadic instances. And people are talking about composting! Again, how about the TA organizing a simple strike. Get rid of the riding bicycles around the Oval (a management "rule") and then compost all you want. For the first time we have something we can press management on. But no....

That is why this place is helpless. Residents will accept anything. Some will bitch, and that will be it.

  5. STR, do you seriously expect the TA to organize a simple strike? I believe that the TA is on the side of Management 100% in all things. They may even be on the payroll. When did the TA ever protest against anything that Management has done? So they pretend to go to bat for tenants on the MCI issues, and it is with a nod and a wink to Management.

You saw John Marsh's nauseating, suck-up letter in T&V. Didn't that tell you anything? His sycophantic slobbering says it all, I think.

  6. I think the comment at 6:46 pm should be removed because it mentions a person's name in an insulting manner. Hate on the t.a. if you like, but don't pick on individual people.

  7. By now the TA Facebook has completely unraveled. Aside from mentioning the fact here, do I care?

  8. Oh, come on. Marsh is not a random "let's just pick someone from the phone book" person. He had a letter published in T&V and was the president of the TA for a long time.

  9. The letter that Marsh wrote was nauseating and so absurd that one had to chuckle. Come on now, being grateful for Blackstone's ownership.

  10. And his letter was indeed a classic. Just not for good reasons.

  11. LOL. "Politics" was started in that TA Facebook thread right at the outset it seems. To "blame" someone else for introducing politics is absurd, but par for the course, as they say. If you want to discuss politics, fine, but blame reasoning is absurd and obvious.

  12. Oh, and how is the tenant protest outside of the leasing office working out for you???

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hmm, I wonder if Garodnick and Company protested this?

  14. John Marsh has the "cojones" ( balls ) of a marshmellow.
Self-serving, disingenuous, misleading...a fraud as a leader of the Tenants Association.
His letter published in the Town&Village made me want to throw up.
    What a pack of lies!
Slither back to whatever hole you and the TA leadership live in.
Bring Danny Boy G and Susan "Ban the Bikini" Steinturd and you can have a real party!
Have it catered by the FiveTurdCafe!
    HAHAHAHA!
