Like our local paper, Town & Village, I am just reporting the news. Let the facts speak for themselves.
The promo is all over the internet, but also here at:
www.stuytownlottery.com
Now if you and/or your family make a minimum of $84,150, you may be in luck! Your "affordable" Stuy Town apartment may be a reality, just check the details. And it helps if you have more money and maybe more occupants, but that's another story. (Quotes are not meant for editorial purposes, but just to highlight the advantages.)
Some of the work, I will do for you, being a nice guy.
First look at the promo. Then examine the promo:
Again, it's at: www.stuytownlottery.com
Now what is interesting is that your lease demands 80% floor covering with a carpet. Don't forget, I am just reporting the facts:
The Five Stuy Cafe is lovely, but just be aware of the dog piss on the stone barrier, seen here, and the piss and refuse in the walkway.
Yes, it appears you can have wallpapering, just be sure to okay it with the landlord! Remember, when you move out, you have to take down this wallpaper and revert your apartment to its original state. There is cost involved, but, hey, you've got the money as someone who can afford an affordable apartment in Stuy Town.
Now a lot of what we see is taken by a drone. Oh, oh... This is what I read:
Remember the attention our community (troublemakers) has with a drone? Well, Stuy Town must have gotten a special dispensation because they are advertising, quite openly, "Stuy Town Drone Video" on their website. Way to go, Blackstone!
Anyway, hurry, hurry! You may have an affordable apartment in Stuy Town soon!
$2,500.00/MONTH FOR A 1 BEDROOM IS NOT AFFORDABLE HOUSING. WHO ARE THEY KIDDING.
ReplyDeleteA very smart, brave, important and truthful post by STR.
ReplyDeleteSTR wrote: "The Five Stuy Cafe is lovely, but just be aware of the dog piss on the stone barrier, seen here, and the piss and refuse in the walkway".
ReplyDeleteLovely? Surely you jest STR.
It is an overpriced dump charging outrageous prices for second-rate...no, make that third-rate...food. How quickly you forget the place was closed down by the Board of Health. Tepid coffee, maggot-laden artisanal pastries...yummy...I don't think so.
I would continue my rant but I feel my stomach rumbling. I don't feel so well. Oh, oh...I think I'm going to have an accident. Better head to the bathroom NOW.
Too late...Hasten Jason, get the basin. Plop, plop...get the mop.
Have a blessed weekend STR. You are a gem!
I love you str.

Trump Abruptly Orders 46 Obama-Era Prosecutors to Resign
WASHINGTON — The Trump administration on Friday moved to sweep away the remaining vestiges of Obama administration prosecutors at the Justice Department, ordering 46 holdover United States attorneys to tender their resignations immediately — including Preet Bharara, the United States attorney in Manhattan.
well 2500 is way lower than the rates that a one bedroom is now. Our niece just rented a one bedroom stuytown M level at 3200. Crap that's insane.
ReplyDeleteDorms, air bnb, and subsidized rents here we come.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteNoticed today new credit/debit card scanner in laundry room. It also takes "EBT". I thought EBT cards were for food and non alcoholic drinks. I don't mean to get off topic, but was reading the above comments regarding the rents here and I remembered this bit of oddity (for me anyway).
EBT cards are a no-no. I will check when I'm doing the laundry, if not earlier.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a welfare card? would not surprise me. I believe that the people next door to me are subsidized. They are definitely not paying over 3 grand for that apartment.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the designs of Playground 7, and the playground as envisioned does look nice. However, the success will depend on how many people are using this Fitness playground. The less people, the better. This goes against the idea of having something in the property that can add value, aside from the promotion value that Blackstone wishes to get. ("Your own fitness playground in your back yard!") Also, weather-wise, its success will depend on having reasonably good weather.
ReplyDeleteCovered, the gym at Asser Levy can have problems if too many people are using it. There is a limited amount of space, unless you want to wait your turn.
Playground 7 looks good, but we will see how many residents actually use it. Realistically, its success could go either way. Promotion-wise, Blackstone and Rick will use the playground, to be sure.
March 10, 2017 at 6:00 PM This from the article you linked "The abrupt order came after two weeks of increasing calls from Mr. Trump’s allies outside the government to oust appointees from President Barack Obama’s administration." coupled with Mr Bharara's tweet about political interference at the DOJ "This Senate hearing on political interference @ DOJ was 10 yrs ago today. Is that me in background? Boy I've aged." Blackstone is an insider the Trump administration but his friends are outsiders. Hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteFitness Playground like a Muscle Beach or a Venice Beach? That is tacky and juvenille, not at all luxury or upscale. Surely they are not going for downscale after telling us it is a luxury marketed place to live.
ReplyDelete>>Isn't that a welfare card? would not surprise me. I believe that the people next door to me are subsidized. They are definitely not paying over 3 grand for that apartment.<<
ReplyDeleteAn EBT card is for people who are in a low-income bracket and can only be used for essential goods. Stuy Town and Peter Cooper residents can have an EBT card, depending on what they take in. That said, I have seen EBT payments promoted at our Green Market, which begs the question of whether these EBT users are getting the most bang out of their buck. I have nothing against EBT cards if they are used the way they are supposed to be used.
ReplyDeleteWhere will Bharara go next? Run for Mayor to knock out the current corrupt City Hall or run for Governor to clear out that cesspool?

http://nypost.com/2017/03/10/de-blasio-dont-trust-the-media-when-it-comes-to-citys-budget/
In other local crazy news, this is a violent Lower East Side Neighborhood not suitable for kids of any age, students or families with underage children.
ReplyDeleteLook at this video of twenty somethings dressed nicely beating up another twenty something at 3:00 in the morning. The StuyTown 628 attempted rape / murder was at 5:00 in the morning and before that a twenty something woman was robbed in a StuyTown lobby at 5:00 in the morning where the 13th praised her for fighting back.
All this violence and fighting and now "StuyTown self defense classes" is more fighting. Citizens should not have to fight back if security and the police did their job.
The new dorms below 14th, the new dorms at Gilman and the dorms in StuyTown are bringing a lot of all-night violence to what was once the safest neighborhood in NYC, called Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town. Property management is not qualified for managing this when their response is fight back with more fighting self defense classes. (We added the parenthesis.)
Pair of (WHITE) attackers viciously pummel man on the Lower East Side

The new fitness playground is just another PR move to promote this dump as "luxury housing". They call these unwanted ideas "amenities" to make people think that this is a real great place to live. Meanwhile the demo gets worse and worse. A fitness playground is not going to attract decent renters to take these overpriced apartments. Another ploy by Blackstone. The PigSty gets worse and worse.
ReplyDeletePreet Bharaha has just been fired. Clearly he has something on Trump. DeBlasio and Cuomo are small potatoes in comparison.
ReplyDeleteBlackstone really put that illegal drone-use video on the internet!

He will never get my vote, but I'm only 1 person!
Wanting our legislature to be on the level and not on the take. Is that too much to ask of the local Stuyvesant Town politicians to have been on the level during the far-less-than-level, outright unfair, total lack of transparency, tumultuous years of the property deal?
ReplyDelete“For him to continue working for this president would have been beneath him. He walked out with his head up high, and he should consider running for office. He should remain in public office; otherwise it would be a disservice to New Yorkers,” James told POLITICO. “He rises above the fray, he focuses on corruption, he’s a man of integrity, he’s independent, he’s brash and he takes no prisoners.”
“How can you fix big problems and dream big things if corruption is a draining focus?” Bharara asked last year during a speech to the state’s Conference of Mayors in Albany. “You just want your state legislators to be on the level. That should not be too much to ask.”

No surprise. I predicted it back a ways. Don't worry. I'm "looking after" Garodnick, including his ties to the REBNY.
That Bharara news is troubling, unless it is a sly move to get him to run for Mayor or Governor.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I checked and our laundry room now does have EBT access in the new machines. I will pursue this later, though I suspect the answer will be something like "it's just part of the machine service and doesn't mean ST or PCV in particular."
ReplyDeleteI also need to check with the EBT people. Maybe this is okay???
Returning to Garodnick, I bet the TA will be all positive about this. I don't belong to the TA Facebook. They ignored my request even though I used my real name....
ReplyDeleteHow delusional are these criminal politicians in bed with criminal bigs RE!
ReplyDeleteMarch 12, 2017 at 9:47 AM That stinks and screams of bias and untruthfulness on the part of this TA Facebook and TA.
ReplyDeletePer our DHCR documents on the last few MCI's the TA does not have the number of members required to challenge the MCI charges and the landlord wins every MCI battle on those grounds.
ReplyDeleteThe TA does not have the membership size to endorse a candidate in the name of StuyTown. This TA as a point person on MCI challenges and political endorsements deserves serious scrutiny, auditing, investigations.
With less than 5% membership publishing a political "community" endorsement gives an appearance or impression that is different from the truth.
I can think of a few others that definitely won't vote for garodnick:
ReplyDelete1) Stuy Town residents who know the truth about Danny boy,
2) Small Business owners who were betrayed by Dan with his REBNY stance on SBJSA,
3) Minorities that will view him as a rich guy who knows nothing about their lives based on his upper class district.
Dan fighting DeBlasio on corruption is laughable based on Dan's ties to real estate. His weasel smile will only get him so far.
The TA refusing residents on their Facebook when that is the main place they communicate to residents is unethical and worse. This is not junior high school where a TA page can selectively chose the popular kids for their Facebook. If the TA wants to behave like it is junior high school they can do that on their personal Facebook pages but not on a community Facebook that purports itself to be the face and voice of the community.
ReplyDeletegarodnick running for mayor....surprise. he and de blasio totally in the tank for the real estate business.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with NYC corruption is that it is a bipartisan game with both the Republicans and the Democrats owned by the same few lobbyists and corporations. But we will vote for anyone who is up against whatever office Garodnick seeks.
ReplyDeleteWhat is Ebt and why would the TA FB ignore a resident request? This is nasty.
ReplyDeleteMarch 12, 2017 at 9:39 AM Can he run for those offices after investigating them? If he can then great but if he cannot then agree with you it is troubling.
ReplyDeleteErrol Louis wrote a befitting tribute letter to Preet Bharara. In spirit, it applies to STR as well. Keep it up STR, you're a good force in StuyTown and beyond:
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/preet-bharara-successors-strive-ethics-legacy-article-1.2995453?cid=bitly
"Amen to that. The Bharara era, for those of us who lived through it, will long stand as an example of the central need of our democracy to police what goes on in the nation's financial boardrooms and political back rooms."
There's no reason to think Bharara's remaining high-profile public integrity cases will vanish. Indictments have already been handed up in the prosecution of former top aides and allies of Gov. Cuomo, and an unrelated inquiry into Mayor de Blasio's fund-raising seems to be mostly concluded.
Those of us who understand New York's need for ethics enforcement will miss Bharara. But he would be the first to remind everyone: Democracy only works when all of us — voters, media, candidates and political parties — take up the cause of reform and loudly, constantly insist that our leaders serve the public good rather than private greed.
That's the best way to make sure we grow and attract many more Preet Bhararas to public service, where their talents remain in high demand."
Thanks to Bill's deal there are just over 11,000 less affordable homes in New York City.

>>What is Ebt and why would the TA FB ignore a resident request? This is nasty.<<
ReplyDeleteI explained the EBT card, but it is like the old fashioned food stamps, but no more looks-wise. It looks like a credit card. As far as I know, you are only able to buy essential foods and nothing pre-made. There is, or was, a list of items you cannot get, or are not supposed to get, with an EBT card. I don't know how diligent stores are in checking what is gotten.
As for ignoring my request, the TA could say it is internally a mess and didn't see my application, though it is still pending months and months....
Interesting that they can deny a resident access to them. I could be wrong but I believe we can fight this.
ReplyDeleteThanks, but I wouldn't at this point, as my request will become well-known by certain people. I assume I'm not the only one who has been pending, but I could be wrong. Maybe in the future I will try again.
ReplyDeleteThere are 1108 homeless beds in the Stuyvesant Town Gramercy Murray Hill CD 6 neighborhood and there are 80 homeless beds in the Upper East Side. While it is better to build low income housing instead of shelters, this map in the Daily News shows how our councilman's two areas in his district are treated differently. It is shocking there are not equal amounts of homeless beds throughout our councilman's district across both areas uptown and downtown.

STR, fuck 'em. Remain anonymous and continue to speak the truth. The TA does not want anybody who dissents from their party line. There is a certain person who occasionally patrols the TA fb and corrects grammar, tsk tsks at "profanities" (like we are children) and vehemently defends management, corrupt politicians and the status quo. The truth and opinions contra the status quo are not allowed on the TA fb.

TA Board is a dishonest, Garodnick worshiping, Blackstone shill. Rejecting STR access to the their Facebook propaganda website is an STR endorsement.
Commencing when Garodnick seized control, the TA Board disgracefully betrayed all of their 25,000-30,000 living, breathing STPCV neighbors/constituents, half residing here for decades, many (Anyone know how few?) paying TA membership dues for decades. Led on a leash by Garodnick, the TA Board stabbed all of us in the back for a conjured up, hypothetical, income capped, time limited STPCV constituency that does not exist and never paid a penny TA membership dues. Their nonexistent, conjured up, hypothetical constituents cannot exist or pay a penny potential TA membership dues until after they can win a lottery to get on a waiting list (lottery + waiting list = recipe for corruption). After winning a lottery and surviving scrutiny verifying their income is sufficiently limited for qualification placement on a waiting list, the TA Board's hypothetical constituents will hope and pray the TA Board's current living, breathing STPCV residents protected by RS beyond 2020 (some paying TA membership dues for decades) will quickly die or vacate in disgust ASAP so they can occupy a STPCV residence paying a few hundred dollars less than MR for a limited time before Blackstone boots them out.
The TA Board's false narratives hyping Blackstone successfully realizing Speyer's failed business plan raking in multiple billion dollar windfalls pushing the middle class out of STPCV as somehow being a historic middle class victory simply cannot withstand the truth posted on STR's essential blog.
">>What is Ebt "
ReplyDeleteThere is something called a search engine. I believe Google is the most popular.
http://otda.ny.gov/workingfamilies/ebt.asp
"What is an EBT card?
Once you qualify for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or cash benefits (Temporary Assistance) you receive an EBT card, also known as a Common Benefit Identification Card (CBIC). The EBT card looks like a debit card. The EBT card allows you to buy groceries and other items with your cash benefits at participating stores and other locations."
"Cash Purchases
Any item may be purchased using your cash benefit account where EBT cards are accepted.
Please be advised that certain types of businesses are not allowed to let you use your EBT cash benefit to purchase items or to withdraw cash on their premises.
Businesses are not allowed to let you use your EBT card at:
Liquor stores
Wine stores
Beer/beverage centers
Race tracks
Casinos
Video lottery facilities
Off-track betting facilities
Commercial bingo facilities; and
Places that provide adult oriented entertainment in which performers take off their clothes or perform without clothes"
>>Places that provide adult oriented entertainment in which performers take off their clothes or perform without clothes<<
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, some EBT owners would benefit greatly from this service!
>>STR - Do you have a personal FB page that shows verifiable activity? If so, there is no reason why you would be denied admittance to the TA's FB page.<<
ReplyDeleteUnless it is under a slightly, very slightly different name, I have a Facebook. The TA person can also tell, I hope, that I am a resident of Stuy Town, probably longer than most of their members. Again, it's no big deal, but I did make the attempt some time ago.
Getting back to that EBT card, I am certainly not against people using that card because they need to. Not everyone's personal circumstances can welcome some of the higher prices we see around here. Some people need to have an EBT card. That said, there are rules.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the TA Facebook, this was posted there the other day and is the next battle here or one of the next:
ReplyDelete"Speaking of pressing matters around here, I recently spoke with the manager of Associated Supermarket, whose lease is set to expire at the end of this year. He said that Associated pays $60,000/month under their current lease and has offered to pay $85,000/month under a new lease. Apparently, Morton Williams Supermarket has offered to pay Blackstone $100,000/month for the space. The manager said that Associated can't pay that much and still keep the store reasonably priced. So, unless Blackstone decides to do the right thing, the thing that so many in this community want to see done, it looks like Associated is a goner."
I shop almost daily at this store, as I am sure many of you do. I would hate to see it go. I am preparing myself, though....
There is black mold in these rentals. I smell a lawsuit about to fly wide open.
ReplyDeleteI was also denied access to TA FB page. Twice. Get a message to add Peter Stuyvesant as a friend. Did that the first time. Nothing happened. Asked to join again, told to add Peter Stuyvesant as a friend (already done). Not going to bother trying again.
ReplyDelete26degrees outside and inside the pipes are stone cold, there is no heat in kitchen, in living room, in bedrooms, in bathroom. NO HEAT.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not wrong, the Morton Williams on 23rd between 1st and 2nd was formerly an Associated. I don't think that too many changes were made when Morton took over, and I actually still call it Associated to this day. Obviously the owner would change, but I think it would still have a smaller feel to it compared to a Trader Joe's or Fairway.
ReplyDelete"I was also denied access to TA FB page."
ReplyDeleteFor the record anyone on FB can lurk (view the FB page) there, you just can't post, it's a public FB page, not a closed FB page. Still sucks that they did not allow you to post.
If Blackstone doesn't offer Associated a renewal lease at the $85,000, they're nothing but greedy pigs. Associated has offered to pay $15,000 additional, which is 25% more than they have been paying. If Blackstone turns that down, it will also show the complete disregard they have for the many people who live here who need and like Associated and want it to stay. But who cares what the little people want, right?
ReplyDeleteThey will send residents a big fuck you if they do not renew the lease of current associated. We know it, they know it.
ReplyDeleteI've been banned from the TA website. It has to be at least 10 years now. Just so you know STR, my life has only gotten better since then. So, no worries!
ReplyDeleteexcept morton w is far more expensive. And the staff employees at associated on 14th are much much nicer. much.
ReplyDeleteSTR, why would you like to blow your cover by posting on the TA facebook page?
ReplyDeleteCame home to the stinky stench of pot permeating my apartment. Those animals downstairs having a pre-snowstorm party I guess. So sick of this.
ReplyDeletePlease elaborate about black mold. Where???
ReplyDeleteI live in PCV and it's a bit of a hike for me to go to Associated, however, I go at least once a week because of the better prices. I shall miss it if it closes. I am also personally impacted by the renovation that the big laundry room at PCV bldg. 2 will undergo soon. The notice says that renovations will start in April to turn this large community laundry room into a regular sized one, and new machines installed. A regular sized laundry room in PCV consists of 5 or 6 washers and 6 dryers, of medium capacity. The big community laundry room has twice as many washers (incl. 3 extra large ones) and 9 large dryers. After Superstorm Sandy, most PCV laundry rooms were flooded and this large laundry room was in great demand. Instead of installing large laundry rooms in all the PCV buildings to meet the demands of the growing population here, we lose the only large laundry room we have.
ReplyDelete>>STR, why would you like to blow your cover by posting on the TA facebook page?<<
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't blow my cover if I was not the only one "pending." Now, if I ask, I would. I can still read that Facebook, as it is an open one.
How about the no carpet rule - cuz neighbors do not own. let's just write a don't worry, no rugs needed sign.

ReplyDeleteCall PS. Pot use is a lease violation. 311 on line notice as well. Pot is sill a schedule I drug.
A dark brown, putrid mass comes gurgling up the drain in my bathtub with increasing regularity.
ReplyDeleteI called Management and they said, "Oh, it must be a blockage in the line. It will clear up. Happens all the time. It will go away."
ARE THEY F*CKING KIDDING?
This is luxury living??
"Came home to the stinky stench of pot permeating my apartment. Those animals downstairs having a pre-snowstorm party I guess. So sick of this."
ReplyDeleteI am always having to close my kitchen window because the kids downstairs smoke pot and blow it out the window. It floats up to my kitchen and living room. I keep the LR windows closed because it is so cold, but the stench somehow permeates through them.
I can't say that cigarets or cigars or any type of tobacco product would be any better though. Maybe Pot isn't quite as poisonous as the second hand smoke from tobacco. It is a horrible smell though. We used to smoke much nicer smelling weed back in the day!
Interesting water drainage issue especially for flood zones
ReplyDelete“A drainage easement is located on your property,” the letter noted. “By placing objects and fences that block the water, such as the skating rink constructed on your property, the amount of storage available is reduced, and the basin will not function as designed.”
“We take storm water management very seriously here.” Adams said.

Surely the the suggestion that you call PS would be met with gales of laughter at the Security Office. They are too busy watching porn or checking their cell phones. Think about the ten-minutes that poor young woman endured when she was attacked a few weeks ago. Where was PS? Not checking the cameras that's for certain.
This place is like a dorm. What are the cops or PS going to do about pot? Break down the doors and arrest the perps. I don't think so. Go into almost any building and you smell the aromatic odor of weed. It is quasi legal in Manhattan. Cops won't do a thing unless you light a joint right in front of them. If Management tried to evict the students it would be killing the Golden Calf. Get used to it. This place has become PigSty Town.

ReplyDeleteMoving in June, found a great place, nicer and cheaper with a great reviews on YELP. Peace out all. I hope you find your peace here.
ReplyDeleteA huge sign in our P Cooper building asked us to refrain from POT SMOKING in hallways and apartments. Go outside please if you cannot contain self.
ReplyDeleteIf there was a photo upload here i would have posted it. Of course the management removed it immediately or the potheads-- college kid.
I agree with 9:41am. This is an anonymous blog, so everyone should really post the building they live in or are referring to, because there is no way of management finding out. Kind of like the guy on the TA FB who posted the picture of graffiti in the elevator and named the building, but that wasn't anonymous.
ReplyDeleteOther than the constant 2PCR shoutouts, we rarely see other buildings listed.
I agree 4:17. That is why I did not call the Security Office. Besides, by the time they get there, it it might be gone. They have to come to my apartment first and that is always a pain. It is a losing battle in this PigSty.

And your suggestion is to do...nothing. I have had success in my approach. Your approach, again, just complain anonymously and do nothing. "I surrender dear". Until all the posters here get an audit trail (and some balls with their real names) with Blackstone and NYPD, nothing will change. I know, it’s nice say over and over again at this blog that the TA sucks, that Garodnick sucks, that PS sucks, that Blackstone sucks but where will that get us? No where. Blackstone laughs at these anonymous complaints. The laughter is not versus the STR blog and the STR himself, but the posters. Docile and timid, that's a winning strategy. Not
Re 4:17 p.m. post concerning weed, dope, marijuana:
ReplyDeleteSomething most assuredly can be done, and that does not consist of "getting used to it."
You can make lives hellish for the morons destroying their few remaining brain cells.
1. Post signs - multiple signs - on the floor to and about it.
2. Slip letters/signs under their doors; attach them to their doors.
3. Knock on doors - HARD and REPEATEDLY. Tell them in no uncertain terms what jackasses they are and that in fact, PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EVICTED FOR POT SMOKING.
4. Call Security repeatedly (3 or 4 times within an hour is fine)to demand that the injury to your lungs, respiratory system, brain be STOPPED. Remind them that it is a lease violation, a nuisance which is actionable as well.
5. If any neighbor claims you have harassed him/her unjustly, apologize profusely and enlist their help in ridding your floor/building of marijuana.
6. The 311 complaints and the police complaints: REPEATEDLY and for weeks on end, if necessary.
7. Write (repeated) letters to Management, to Legal, to the General Manager, to the Chief of Security.
7. Keep a running record of each incident and each call you make.
You most assuredly can stop the morons from continuing their noxious behaviors if you are willing to be consistent in your actions.
I have more than once succeeded in stopping idiots from smoking dope outside, as well. Security doesn't like responding, but they will if you are insistent.
To 11:58:
ReplyDeleteI am allergic to all forms of smoke (cigarettes, cigars, pipes, dope, hash, etc.)
There is no need, I think, to compare them. It certainly isn't better or more acceptable to have marijuana and all of its attendant chemicals forced into your body from sick, dysfunctional people than, say, cigarettes.
With marijuana in the air around you, your body is made to ingest substances that kill your brain cells every time you inhale air.
Much as I object to drunken behavior, drunks do not shove bottles or glasses of booze down your throat. Pot smokers force pot into your body.
8.32 PM, 10.21 AM here. Thank you for your template, very similar to what I have done as well.
ReplyDelete7.12 PM, that's right, do nothing.
SAD!
While I applaud your noble and heroic efforts against pot smoking in Stuy Town,8:32PM poster, alas, it a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Management wants to turn this place into a dorm, you will have that sort of behavior. They will do nothing. The NYPD will do nothing. You can write letters until you are blue in the face. You can yell, scream, knock on their doors, confront them. The genie has been let out of the bottle.
And, in the remote chance you do get the clods to stop, another group of potheads will follow.
Sorry but that is just the way it is.
Believe me. I suffer from the decline in quality of life here just as you do.
Thank you Blackstone.
Pot smoking, loud music, carpetless jerks, dog shit, condoms in the stairway, slamming doors...all the New Reality in PigStuy Town. Truly unfortunate.
Be careful to be sure that you are slipping those no-pot-smoking notes under the correct apartment. A neighbor who does not smoke was harassed with no smoking notes by a jealous tenant and it gets ugly. Calling 311 works for us when the kids below light up and party all night.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago, management said to my neighbor quit smoking pot or leave. He left. Moved to LA where he could smoke on the beach and not get hassled by the man. No one misses that guy.
ReplyDeleteShout out 2PC!!!!
ReplyDelete10.21 AM here again.
ReplyDelete"They will do nothing. The NYPD will do nothing."
So 8.32 PM, 11.43 PM and me, all of us are liars? I do agree that the QOL here has gone down the shitter. And with the transient demo, it's a never ending war. But I'll be damned if I don't fight back AND score some wins in the process.
"I Surrender Dear" is a song composed by Harry Barris with lyrics by Gordon Clifford. It was first performed by Bing Crosby and became his first solo hit. It has been covered by a large number of artists, making it a jazz and pop standard. The first jazz vocalist to record the song was Louis Armstrong in 1931. The song is referenced in the 1949 war film Battleground, which depicts the hardships of American troops attempting to hold the town of Bastogne in late December, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. German radio is heard broadcasting the song to the entrenched American troops to demoralize them. This psychological warfare is shown to have the opposite effect on the GIs, who hum along (to the old chestnut), but prefer to hear real American radio."
Pot and cigarette smokers cant go outside, too cold to windy and no one asks them to.

Maybe we should all make flyers of this sentiment and post them everywhere. I wonder how Hayduk would respond. I wonder if it would make him get off his ass and actually start running this place the way he should be running it? Maybe send a few to Blackstone's chief execs?
Some of us are totally sick of the way this place is being turned into a dorm dump.

ReplyDeleteMy parents neighborhood in NJ posts booze bash busting. We could use this here on the campus.
>>STR, why would you like to blow your cover by posting on the TA facebook page?<<
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't blow my cover if I was not the only one "pending." Now, if I ask, I would. I can still read that Facebook, as it is an open one.
March 14, 2017 at 9:29 AM
STR, the TA Facebook bosses have different rules for different people. There is one poster who uses two phony names and gets away with it. (Same person who runs the unofficial ST Facebook page.) There are several posters whose names are clearly made up.
>>Thank you Blackstone.<<
ReplyDeleteSeen today, but seen again and again. etc. A guy riding a bicycle about the Oval right in front of the PS booth, and the guy inside (I guess it was too cold to be outside) did nothing. I don't know why there are so many rules. At this point, most people ignore them.
I see the carpet rule at 17 oval not in effect as usual.
ReplyDeletePosting flyer in our building. HAVING THE KIDS COLOR IN CRAYON TOO.
ReplyDeleteSTOP SMOKING IN OUR HALLWAYS AND ELEVATORS AND STAIRWELLS. I HAVE CANCER. LUNG CANCER.
An added benefit to the snowstorm in Stuy Town:
ReplyDeleteWith the snow still all around the complex, the freshly laid dog shit makes an interesting contrast with white stuff.
The brown turd on the formerly white snow makes such an inviting, wintery scene.
Perhaps Blackstone should take a pic and place it in their next promotional.
I guess that by now most of you have received the QOL survey sent out by Rick via e-mail. Like he will really change things. I told it like it is on that survey. Are they for real? They sent the same survey when they first took over.
ReplyDeleteRiding bikes is nothing now. Now we have motorized bikes on the property zipping through and about to hit an old man. You will now long for the days of complaining about normal bikes. Aint gonna change unless they do speed bumps or horses. Duh!
ReplyDeleteIt has been said before and been said for years, there are some really bad things going on.
ReplyDeleteI haven't received a QOL survey.
ReplyDelete"I haven't received a QOL survey."
ReplyDeleteI get everything that SPS sends digitally via my Gmail account. There is no recent QOL survey link (I did the one sent out before) in any of my Gmail folders including my Spam folder.
Decided to work from home today this morning, first time. It is 8 44 , the same parent has slammed the door 5 times in the past 3 minutes. Slammed Slammed. Notes are posted, he has been asked not to do this, it is just insane. We constantly blame students here but this guy is a parent and at least 40 years of age.
ReplyDeleteQOL surveys are a landlord tool for targeting tenants. Tishman used them to weed out anyone who speaks up. Tishman did not care about QOL or tenant needs.
ReplyDeleteWarning on filling out the QoL form-. make it anonymous. ?
ReplyDeleteWhen I get the form I intend to fill it out with my name, if there is a place. Why not?
ReplyDeleteI also am going to look into talking direct to Blackstone, rather than their representatives here. Why not?
The Balckstone stock sure looks might strong! wootwoot
ReplyDeleteIt is quite funny actually. They asked how likely it would be for me to recommend someone move in. I gave them a 5 out of 10. The next question was what could they do to get me to rate them a 7. High hopes if they are only shooting for a 7.
ReplyDeleteAre they targeting only a "certain demographic" for this latest QOL survey? I haven't received one. I am a long-time tenant and I don't think they want to hear from us. We are likely to tell them the truth!
ReplyDeleteThis week I'd had enough with the kids romping upstairs banging on the bare floors continuously and called the office at Stuytown. I told the woman on the phone they had no rugs and could they please simply and nicely ask the family - 4 people.one bedroom -to either stop the raucous or get rugs. She went to her file - she said - and claimed they had rugs as they'd had an inspection --------------------3 years ago. I said 'you have got to be joking' is this a joke? I'm sitting here recording the noise, and she probably heard it through the phone. I then said 'I have called PS many times and you honestly think I"m calling as I would not know or lie about the fact that they have carpeting? She (the BS employee) hung up on me.
ReplyDelete"Mayor de Blasio escaped legal jeopardy on Thursday. He did not, and must not, escape ethical or political jeopardy for putting a For Sale sign on City Hall.

He sold out the chunk once called PCVST with his pal Capalino & Co
There is no place on the form for the name, but I guess that they know who it comes from as it is sent to your e-mail. I really do not think that they are looking to target tenants. They are basically doing it to look like they care about what is going on here. On the form I was civil but honest. When they asked how they could improve themselves, I said stop renting to students and transients.
ReplyDeleteAre they really that desperate they are using tenants to get other people to move here?
ReplyDelete>>Are they targeting only a "certain demographic" for this latest QOL survey? I haven't received one. I am a long-time tenant and I don't think they want to hear from us. We are likely to tell them the truth!<<
ReplyDeleteI haven't received one, either. I know how the PO works, so it may be that certain buildings have not got their surveys yet. We wait.

Well they are all the same management personnel from CompassRock with updated resumes to say whatever they call themselves today. Buy one of those gadgets that record phone calls. They don't cost much and they help in a landlord harassment suit.
Back to the initial topic... now that it's becoming more and more clear that Dan is planning to run (although dirty Bill may run unopposed since he was cleared), will he use this affordable housing crap as a platform? Hey everyone, look how I saved affordable housing at Stuy Town, so vote for me!
ReplyDeleteI don't want DeBlasio to stay in office, but I definitely don't want Garodnick and his self serving ego in office either.
"I know how the PO works, "
ReplyDeleteSTR, the survey is not a hard copy form via USPS. That's so old school. The other Blackstone survey I did was a link via email. I did not get a survey this time as well. Me thinks the population that they are going for are the active tenants who did not respond to the first one and new active tenants who are post the deadline of the first one, the survey text being the same, the code would be easy to write.
? So this is online???
ReplyDelete>>Well they are all the same management personnel from CompassRock with updated resumes to say whatever they call themselves today.<<
ReplyDeleteA lot of the people before are still with us.
" Buy one of those gadgets that record phone calls."
ReplyDeleteAny cell phone, dumb or smart, can do this, no need to buy something new. And in NYS, one does not need the permission of the other party to record.
? So this is online???
ReplyDeleteYes.
What it Donalda? Pretty shitty when you have to record a conversation to someone you pay big bucks to Check your lease, pretty sure you have a case here.
ReplyDeleteIf a BS resident services employee hangs up on you, email Rick Hayduk and complain. I think someone in his office will get back to you. So long as you weren't profane or insulting to the person, you have a valid reason to complain about her lack of professionalism and rudeness as well as your upstair's neighbor's bad behavior.
ReplyDeleteI'm a long time tenant and I did get the email survey. I don't know why they felt the need to send one, though. They know exactly what the problem areas are here and if they had any intention of addressing them effectively they would have done so already. Not going to waste my time responding.
ReplyDeleteFYI - Donalda Habersham is long gone. They had zillions of legitimate complaints about her. One right thing they did was terminate that nasty b-tch.
ReplyDelete"What it Donalda?"
ReplyDeleteGuess you have not been up on current events, the SHAM has been gone for at least a year now.
At one point in time, I would have welcomed Garodnick as a opponent of DeBlasio. Not anymore. I see him as a self serving tool of real estate, Blackstone included. He no longer speaks for our community. He advocated this deal with the devil which has made our community a dorm and transient dump. I never hear him speak out against management anymore. Although I do not like DeBlasio, neither do I favor Garodnick for mayor.
ReplyDeleteIncumbents passed laws to make it harder and near impossible for small businesses to stay in business, harder and near impossible for rent stabilized tenants to stay in their homes, and harder and near impossible for prosecutors to prosecute corruption and corrupt politicians. None of them deserve to stay in office and definitely none of them deserve to advance in office. Career politicians are ruining New York.
ReplyDelete"" Buy one of those gadgets that record phone calls."
ReplyDeleteAny cell phone, dumb or smart, can do this, no need to buy something new. And in NYS, one does not need the permission of the other party to record."
You don't need the permission of the other party, but you have to tell them that you are recording the conversation.
March 17, 2017 at 6:32 PM only if they ask and if you want it admissible in court
ReplyDelete"You don't need the permission of the other party, but you have to tell them that you are recording the conversation. "
ReplyDeleteNot correct:
"New York's wiretapping law is a "one-party consent" law. New York makes it a crime to record to record or eavesdrop on an in-person or telephone conversation unless one party to the conversation consents. N.Y. Penal Law §§ 250.00, 250.05. (link is to the entire code, you need to click on the Penal Code section, then choose Article 250 and locate the specific provisions). Thus, if you operate in New York, you may record a conversation or phone call if you are a party to the conversation or you get permission from one party to the conversation in advance. "
The "one party" can be you, not Blackstone.

For sure, I am going to go over the heads of the Blackstone people that are connected directly to tenants here at STPCV. (Hi, Rick!) I've noticed no willingness to take the quality of life issues seriously. Of course, if a resident complains, some movement may result, but look around you. Blackstone, via its representatives, is still BSing, and they had a year at least to get their act together. Many more rules, but lack of enforcement. Every resident says this or knows it, except for those who worship Blackstone and their reps. (You know who you are.) Even Blackstone's own website (check the lack of floor covering in some photos) prove that it is lying. The potential rape/murder got away for them for a short while, but they are back to doing things the old way and moving ahead with their plan, which includes making residents happy with amenities (ha!) while stiffing them in the pockets, if the residents can afford it. That's why they love the Chinese and market to them in Mandarin! Blackstone figures that the Chinese have the money, at least now, and are not going to fight back if a problem exists.
ReplyDeleteI have a name. Nadeem Meghji. He is a Senior Managing Director in the Real Estate Group and Head of Real Estate Americas, and the guy who spoke to us, sounding very reasonable and concerned. Of course, all Blackstone reps, including our beloved Rick, sound reasonable and concerned. But I'm aware of that and will proceed accordingly in my charming way.
There is just too much BS going around. It can be, and is, exposed. But it has to stop or at least the attempt has to be made.
Just called PS concerning the smell of pot seeping up into my apartment. The officer said that they are smoking some fruity tobacco in a hookah, but that it is not pot, nothing illegal. such nonsense. He said that they will put towels around the vents to prevent the smell from permeating my apartment. they treat these students with kid gloves. Anything goes. The smell is sickening. If it continues I will go into management. He kept emphasizing that it was nothing illegal.
ReplyDelete>>He kept emphasizing that it was nothing illegal.<<
ReplyDeleteBut of course. The better to hang out in the office and not do anything.
So true STR. I also think that they are told to just issue a warning. I just hope that they were warned and will stop. Blackstone does everything in its power to pacify these student dorm dumps. I doubt that you will get anywhere with Nadeem. They are all in the same vein, churn the apartments and look the other way. It is disgusting what this community has become.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog, and read it daily, but it gets so discouraging to see some of the crap that my fellow neighbors have to go through. I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by a good group of neighbors, but I know that isn't the case for most.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is to keep up the fight, we can only hope that management comes to its senses one of these days/weeks/months/years.
But what about the overcharges and the MCI that are illegal.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't Nadeem Meghji work for John Gray who made the deal with Glen and de Blasio? He may be one of the guys who was in on the Hilton deal with Gray a while back. We will make a few calls.

STR, I wish you success in your quest if you are going to go over Management's head. I think they probably all stick together and protect each other. I wouldn't know how to go above Management's head unless it means personally petitioning the principals of Blackstone.
ReplyDelete78 block rezoning by REBNY for REBNY members courtesy of politicians representing Midtown East. Hmmmm.

ReplyDeleteBetween January 2012 through December 30, 2016 Airbnb gave almost one million dollars to the NYC City Council.
Of that, Airbnb gave $700,000 to the NYC City Council 2014 through 2016 when the City Council was pretending to be really really angry about illegal hotels and at the same time ignoring 117+ openly advertised illegal hotels on the Airbnb website.
Of the $700,000 paid to the City Council during their PR spun tantrum between 2014 and 2016, approximately $320,000 was siphoned through by their lobbyists Capalino & Co.
A Capalino & Co lobbyist and a City Councilman live in PCVST and never once told the community that Airbnb is paying the City Council members a million dollars. The City Councilman never once mentioned the 120+ openly advertised Airbnb illegal hotels in Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village.
The Tenant Association Board and the Brookfield Partnership Tenant Association members never once told the community of 120+ illegal Airbnb advertised hotels and never mentioned them in their PR placed NY Times articles about sleuthing illegal hotels.
The Property Management that the Brookfield Partnership Tenant Association works closely with and wrote in Town & Village they are "grateful" for also never shut down the illegal hotels openly advertised during the time Airbnb gave a million dollars to lobbyists to give to the City Council.

Now we all know that all of this anti-SUNY sentiment and opposition was a phony PR stunt:
ReplyDeleteDe Blasio demanded a promise that the hopsital would remain open.
"You have nothing to say?" asked de Blasio. "They have no comment. That means we're going to stay here, and we're going to fight to make sure Long Island College Hospital stays open and every hospital stays open. We're going to stand our ground here, because all SUNY is telling us today is they have nothing to say."
A police officer with a megaphone warned them that they would be arrested for blocking the building's entrances, and then shortly thereafter, the group peacefully submitted to the plastic protest handcuffs.
"We have to save our hospitals now," de Blasio said. "People are about to lose their jobs, people are about to lose their health care. And who's going to win out? The real-estate interests. The real-estate interests are who want to get their hands on the Long Island College Hospital facility. SUNY is about to make that deal, we're going to stop it."
De Blasio was swarmed by cameras as police led him, first and forcefully, into the back of a van. A smiling Levin was led into the van a few minutes later, where they were joined by the president and executive director of the New York State Nurses Association. (NYSNA has not yet endorsed in the mayor's race.)

I am startng to think there is something structurally wrong with the building or perhaps it is only our location. I am not exaggerating but our ceiling , the above tenant floor may cave in. We have brought strangers in to asses and all agree. E every word, cough and whatnot is heard which is worrisome. Whether they have carpets or not I do not caret, there is something very off here. When they walk our shelving shakes and items on it shake also. We can hear their conversation almost word by word. Our place is crammed with stuff so it is not an echo. The walls shake from their movement. I am very concerned that a thin layer separates us as never before.
ReplyDeleteCall Rick and let him know. His number is on the front page of this blog.
ReplyDeleteManagement taking the side of the NON CARPETED apartments of late.
ReplyDelete8:01
ReplyDeleteThere is some validity to your concerns. I'm not sure that the ceiling is going to cave in (yet!), but the infrastructure of the property is taking a brutal beating. The plumbing, electrical, elevators, etc. were not made for the number of people that are currently living here and it is all a disaster in the making. The more I think about it, it seems completely realistic that they are going to wear the property down as much as possible and get it to where there is no chance of repair and the only option is to replace.
Rick doesn't give a shit.
ReplyDeleteMarch 22, 2017 at 3:24 PM that is the proud resume of slumlords and the shoe fits the management here. Thank you to Mr Mayor for the very bad deal.
ReplyDeleteandddddddd another MCI passed on to us this week.
ReplyDeleteBang up job TA! Bang up.
8:01 Seriously. You should call 311 and report. Building shaking is actually a category on 311 data.
ReplyDeleteI am still waiting to see the PS officers on patrol at night.
ReplyDelete3:24 PM You are absolutely right. These buildings are being used and abused with all the overcrowding, partitions and constant renovations. There is only so much that bricks and mortar can take, especially when it comes to buildings built in the late 40s with a shortage of building materials.
ReplyDeleteMarch 22, 2017 at 7:46 PM
ReplyDeleteThe TA wants the MCI charges because it is more money for them. The TA and the landlords did not buy into a residential community when they partnered up in 2011 under the councilman, they bought a "development site". The more MCI money they squeeze out of tenants the faster they rid tenants to clear the way for their development. Remember the TA is in partnership with developers who are in business to maximize profits. TA and the tenants do not share the same priorities, objectives and goals since the developer partnership was formed by the councilman.
"Management taking the side of the NON CARPETED apartments of late."
ReplyDeleteI agree. My new neighbors clearly don't have anything resembling real rugs. I complained and was told they were in compliance. What BS. If they're even doing rug inspections, they're a joke. JUST LIKE THEY WERE WITH CW CAPITAL. What can be done?
Two serious questions:
ReplyDelete1) Has anyone seen those community liaisons in the blue vests?
2) Has anyone seen an increase in security?
I have not seen either, and it is a shame that plenty of people believe the hoopla that Rick and Blackstone are feeding us. People need to wake the hell up and realize that Rick is nowhere near the savior people paint him out to be.
In the weekly Blackstone e-mail update, they discuss a recent package theft by a "non-resident" who likely piggybacked his way in. They advised us not to leave the door open for anyone that we do not know. Unfortunately, due to their careless renting policies, I know and recognize so few people in my building. Cannot hold the door open, period. There is such a turnover due to apartment churning, that I might know 20% of people entering my building.
ReplyDelete"The TA wants the MCI charges because it is more money for them."
ReplyDelete"Remember the TA is in partnership with developers who are in business to maximize profits."
Your proof for this?
I don't think it's there.
ReplyDeleteOf course, a "string" can be provided. "He knows who knows..." etc, but it is not actual proof of a connection. The dots have to be clear and speak volumes.
ReplyDeleteThere are still many tenants here who see Rick as a savior. What they do not understand is that he may answer their e-mails, but their complaints keep increasing because Rick and Blackstone are not dealing with the core problems: dorms, transients, lack of rule enforcement, poor PS staff, etc. That is what PR is all about. It makes you think that your needs are being met and Rick is a good one for PR. Where are the PS officers you promised at night Rick?
ReplyDeleteI would agree on the dangers of our thinning floors. How do I know this is that we 've lived here for almost 30 years. Stripping and stripping has consequences.
ReplyDeleteThe TA was in a partnership with Brookfield when the idea of a tenant led purchase was on the table, and the ties between the TA and Dan the REBNY man are unbreakable, so a partnership is definitely a possibility. Tie that together with the fact that they share a PR firm with Blackstone speaks volumes.
ReplyDelete8.39 AM here.
ReplyDeleteThe usual MO for this poster, 8.07 AM, is to respond by saying the counter poster is a TA troll. I’m pretty sure this is one person, maybe two, who sometimes provide “links” as proof for their TA conspiracy theories. One of these that the poster resurrects from time to time is that the PS video surveillance system was installed because of a NYS dormitory requirement. No proof has ever been offered for this, I have called the poster out on this by stating: 1. Then why does Parkchester have a similar system? 2. The real reason it was installed? The old one, it reduces headcount, saves expense not just on salaries but benefits that must be paid to those expensive humans. The poster’s response? Zero.
I believe the proposed condo deal with Brookfield Asset Management was ill advised but the TA believed that it would be better than another TS or similar ownership deal. As you have stated STR, the TA is star struck with our local politicians and I believe that some TA Board members are incompetent but this Alex Jones stuff is crap. BTW, PCVST will always be a rental property as long as NYU and other local colleges keep expanding their enrollment.
By now everyone knows:
ReplyDeleteThe Tenant Association deal structure along with actions and inactions for example failed all MCI challenges, lack of formal challenges to thousands of wall partitioned units, construction, and commercialism in residential zones, etc; your TA deal had no transparency which was admitted by your Councilman when announcing the Partnership before any "Deal" details were shown to tenants, agreed upon by tenants, and to date tenants have never seen "Deal" details your TA made to appeal to CW. It is by all definitions "A Back Room Deal" where tenants are never Deal details.
Why are they still hiding the Deal details? Why not show tenants now, today?
The TA needed large number of "buyers" small number of "renters" and large amount of $ for Deal to appeal to CW. The TA admitted speaking to only a few tenants.
For the "Deal" with the "Partnership" all the actions by your TA required a "competitive" bid that required increasing property revenue to Tishman BlackRock MetLife price set.
"However, Garodnick, who hosted a press conference outside Stuyvesant Town, along with other local elected officials and reps from Brookfield, said it was understood that any offer would need to be “competitive.”
This is the key trick:
https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20111130/murray-hill-gramercy/residents-partner-with-brookfield-buy-stuy-townpeter-cooper-village
"The deal will also depend on whether enough tenants will be interested in buying their units."
"A certain number of tenants must agree to purchase their units in order for the plan to work, Garodnick said. Although that percentage remains to be determined, he added, it will likely need to constitute a substantial portion of the complex’s 11,232 units."
"The trick, Garodnick said, will be to make the deal appealing to CW Capital."
"Alvin Doyle, president of the tenants association, said that he had not yet spoken to many residents but that, so far, the response had been positive."
“It’s very exciting,” Doyle said. “Everyone I’ve talked to so far has been excited.”
https://town-village.com/2011/12/02/st-pcv-ta-to-partner-with-brookfield-on-bid/
ReplyDelete"The talks between the Tenants Association and Brookfield have been going on QUIETLY for months now and the company was among a group of 50 individuals and groups that had been courting the TA with plans for conversions, according to Garodnick."
"A spokesperson for CW told Town & Village he couldn’t comment on the plan since an actual proposal hasn’t been offered."
"Brookfield was chosen by the TA with guidance from its financial and legal advisors from the firms Moelis & Company and Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison. Both firms had been offering their services sans fee to the association with the assumption that they’d eventually get some payment through the completion of a conversion deal."
"The way the partnership would work, if a conversion were to occur, is that Brookfield would be the sponsor, putting together the money for the purchase, offering the units for the sale, and then remaining the landlord and manager of the unsold apartments."
"The TA has spent a year and a half interviewing prospective financial backers for this idea, added Sheehy."
"However, Garodnick, who hosted a press conference outside Stuyvesant Town, along with other local elected officials and reps from Brookfield, said it was understood that any offer would need to be “competitive.”
"Previously, legal and financial advisors for the TA had said an offer would need to be at least $3 billion in order to satisfy the bondholder trust CW Capital represents."
"The details of the plan have yet to be sorted out, Garodnick said,"
https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20111130/murray-hill-gramercy/residents-partner-with-brookfield-buy-stuy-townpeter-cooper-village
"Guterman Westwood, in outlining its proposal to convert the complex into tenant-owned co-ops, claimed Brookfield’s plan does not offer enough specifics about the conversion.
“We note this because, despite the size and industry dominance of Brookfield as a real estate firm, the Association’s announcement of its partnership with Brookfield does not set forth any details of what Brookfield would deliver to each of you from a financial and economic perspective,” the letter stated."

Wall partitions = increased revenue = appeal to CW to close the Tenant Association Deal
ReplyDeleteIt is a simple equation needing no dots to connect. So why not show us the Deal you had us buy into that got us into the current messy state of affairs?
I have seen the community liaisons in the blue vests. I have no idea what they do.
ReplyDeleteI leave my building every morning at 5:30am. I saw more security at that time before the incident.
"I am startng to think there is something structurally wrong with the building or perhaps it is only our location. I am very concerned that a thin layer separates us as never before."
ReplyDeleteSorry to inform you but it is this way in every apartment. your ceiling is not about to cave it, this is simply the way the building was constructed. I have had every shitty, selfish, oblivious upstairs neighbor in the book, so I can tell you, I have also experienced the "shaking" when they walk---that's when they walk on uncarpeted floors, without shoes on. That vibrating, thudding sound. when they walk on uncarpeted floors WITH shoes, it doesn't thud in the same way, but instead you hear the hamming of their heels on the floor. Even shoes that aren't high heels sound like hammers.
This is life in a luxury apartment complex.
Try calling 311. I'm not sure if they will do anything about noise, but as noted in the comments, Sty town management has started to openly refuse to get people to comply with the laws of the city, ie, 80% carpeting in every apartment, with padding below the carpets.
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE TA. WHY DO THEY NOT HOLD MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABLE. THIS MUST BE THE SINGLE MOST PREVALENT COMPLAINT AMONG TENANTS. They wont get a single penny more from me until they do something substantial about the noise/carpet problem.
And this really needed to be quoted here, I think:
ReplyDeleteFrom the NYT, who is continuing their multi-year advertisement for Stytown luxury apartments in every section.
When it happens in Fort Greene, it's gentrification and they start a crusade against it. When it happens in Stytown, it's luxury apartments for college kids who want to live in an oasis. Did anyone live here before the college kids? Who cares! Now its luxury!
"There is never debris on the street. The flowers and trees and gardens are well tended. There is a mailbox on the corner and a fleet of Citi Bikes. It is almost too bucolic here; we could use some grit.
— Debra Weinstein
Avenue B and 14th Street. Stuyvesant Town, Manhattan
Ah, the bucolic landscape of Stytown. I'm sure that lady who almost got raped was thinking as it happened, look at those well-tended trees! I'm so glad theres no debris on this floor that I'm being assaulted on. That would really suck.

ReplyDeleteThere is black mold in these rentals. I smell a lawsuit about to fly wide open.
March 13, 2017 at 8:09 AM
please elaborate, or at least document it, and notify the city
March 24, 2017 at 5:39 AM Your proof for this?
ReplyDelete1. Logic
2. Standard business practice mandates any buyer needs to increase property revenue to meet at least $3 billion when the 2009 property value is $1.8 Billion.
Nov 9, 2009 - According to Fitch the property's worth has plunged from $3 to $1.8 billion
3. Current refusal to share details of the still secretive deal the TA made in 2010 and announced to the city-wide general public in 2011 when tenants had no details.
It is fact based in history of the deal we still do not have disclosure on details .
>>And this really needed to be quoted here, I think:<<
ReplyDeleteAs I said in another post, it's Bizarro World.
This is what you said:
ReplyDelete"The TA wants the MCI charges because it is more money for them."
Don't deflect. PCVST is now a rental property for at least 19 years going forward. How does wanting MCI charges do that, give them "more money for them." when they have no equity in the property. And now Al Doyle is evil. Al Doyle?
Bogus.
"'m not sure if they will do anything about noise, but as noted in the comments, Sty town management has started to openly refuse to get people to comply with the laws of the city, ie, 80% carpeting in every apartment, with padding below the carpets."
ReplyDeleteI agree with your basic premise (management has started to openly refuse to get people to comply) but there is no city law that requires 80% carpets although it is standard in many leases, those apartments that under rent regulations and those apartments that are not.
9:07
ReplyDeleteDid anyone say Al Doyle was evil? All I see is his name being brought up in a quote that he actually made for the T&V a number of years back. I think someone needs to calm down.
If the TA doesn't want the money as you said, they can give it to tenants then. Quite confident they will not.
ReplyDeletePCVST is now a rental property for at least 19 years going forward.
ReplyDeleteThat could be reversed at any point in time in a "renegotiation". I am not the original poster of your rant. The Al Doyle quotes are there in print, in black and white. Do they make him evil? According to you, yes. You and you alone are calling him that bringing the dialogue down to uncalled low levels March 24, 2017 at 9:07 PM.
March 24, 2017 at 10:14 PM that sets precedent for any and all lease violations to be successfully argued in courts and won by any and all tenants for any and all lease violations their hearts desire. Keep that up property managers, you are doing the tenants a nice service given the ridiculous and possibly law skirting lease terms new tenants have to sign.
ReplyDelete"'m not sure if they will do anything about noise, but as noted in the comments, Sty town management has started to openly refuse to get people to comply with the laws of the city, ie, 80% carpeting in every apartment, with padding below the carpets."

Do you live in PCVST? Did you sign a lease? Then you are required, by law, to abide by the terms of your lease. When you sign a legal document, you agree to the terms therein and failure to abide by those terms exposes you to prosecution.
If your point is that some family of urban dwelling elephants living in, say, Bensonhurst, stomping around on their floors without carpets may not be required to carpet their floors, subject to the terms of their lease, then yeah--true. But totally beside the point, you dumb fuck.
There were no conspiracies regarding the sale of this property. Blackstone wanted the property, had the bucks to buy it and they were thought to be the least odious of all the possible buyers. That's what happened here. Period. The TA did not have any say in the matter. Basically, they were told about the deal after it had already been made. Frankly, we're lucky we didn't end up with one of the really awful real estate sharks who wanted to buy this place. All in all, short of the place going co-op or condo, it probably worked out for the tenants better than it might have otherwise. You may not be happy with Blackstone, I certainly am not in a number of different regards, but it could have ended up much worse. The sad thing is that Blackstone could actually fix some of the most egregious problems like the noise issue by carpeting apartments before renting them. Yeah, it would cost some money, but so what. They're making bags of it. It's not just long time, lower rent paying tenants who are being disturbed by neighbors without rugs, many responsible tenants paying market rate are, too.
ReplyDelete"There were no conspiracies regarding the sale of this property. Blackstone wanted the property, had the bucks to buy it and they were thought to be the least odious of all the possible buyers."
ReplyDeleteThat is not entirely accurate or at all factual.
"Blackstone wanted the property, had the bucks to buy it and they were thought to be the least odious of all the possible buyers."
ReplyDeleteWe are talking about Blackstone, the largest, most notorious, MOST ODIOUS, Predatory Equity Vulture on the planet.
Calling "Blackstone" the "least odious of all the possible buyers" is at the very least oxymoronic, particularly when for four years Garodnick-TA Board were lying to us championing their phony "tenant led purchase" condo scam designed to take EVERYTHING STPCV away from their longstanding, some lifelong, STPCV neighbors/constituents for delivery to the disgraced TA Board's "value sharing" business partner Brookfield, a major REBNY Predator investing $25 Million supporting and cheerleading Speyer's failed, take-no-prisoners business plan to rake in multiple billion dollar windfalls booting our historic middle class community out of our longstanding, some lifelong, STPCV homes.
Blackstone is a "less odious" possible buyer than the TA Board-Brookfield business partnership?
Actually, Blackstone is about pure greed and Blackstone doing what Blackstone does best to get what Blackstone wants is far less odious than the lying, scheming Garodnick-TA Board betraying us and stabbing us in the back for years while simultaneously making false claims about defending us against the same REBNY/Wall Street predators they were taking money from and partnering with.

ReplyDeleteWell said. Btw, what has the TA done to deserve half of the left-over money from the Roberts award? Did they help at all with that case?
