Dog Lanyard Rule -- Enforcement?

It's has been a long time coming. We think. But this could be old, like from last year. Currently there is a screen shot of "Dog Registration Enforcement" in our community that could very well be an official posting or letter sent by Blackstone last year.

In which case--forget about it! The dog registration and lanyard policy has not been enforced.

This is the policy that has been posted on the TA Facebook the other day, May 4th 2017:

This is the policy of last year:

I will not address the 8,000 dog owner "stops" and PS's "full year of enforcement" yet, and I will not address at this point the "new" dog policy, if it is indeed new.

Oh, and tell me what the date of this was:

  1. StuyTown is renting out rooms!

What is the roommate rule? Or the renting rooms rule?

StuyTown is advertising to students and renting out rooms if you want just a room and apartments if you want the whole apartment. The property owners do not want permanent residents when they are advertising to Room Renters! Renting out single rooms is a hotel / dorm! That is not a permanent resident as Robbie infamously lied in his PR spin when he began aggressively challenging permanent Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town tenants on residency. Permanent residents do not need roommates. In the history of Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town Permanent residents never needed the property owners to advertise for roommates.

Here is what some ad writer put in the room renting ads:

"No Fee Rentals in Stuytown: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Manhattan

Full apartments and single rooms available. Need roommates? We've got you covered."

"StuyTown is the chillest, greenest neighborhood in Manhattan. Blocks away from the LES, but when you’re home, it feels like a zen getaway. Some of the pinch-me-I’m-dreaming perks: State-of-the-art gym, gourmet cafe, on-site laundry facilities, weekly greenmarket, outdoor sports facilities!"

    The infamous Speyer lie

Tishman Speyer says that the practice is simply an attempt to rid its buildings of tenants who are abusing the system. “We want a community of people who really live at the property,” said Rob Speyer, the president of Tishman Speyer. “We don’t understand the effort to protect the rights of people who are there illegally.”

Guess that is why they call their annual politician / lobbyist RebNY party the Liars Ball

  2. Yeah, I've seen this. Almost every time I put in Stuy Town Report into a Google search engine. The "roommate" ad is just that, an ad that is paid for and comes atop one's page.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Technically, you can have a roommate. If he or she is like a resident, and lives in the community and is not just passing through.

  4. I have been stopped a total of 0 times (although I have the lanyard in a very noticeable spot), and I have never seen any other person stopped (most without lanyards).

How did they even come up with that number? Does PS self-report the number of stops they make on a daily basis? Over a 365 day span, that equals almost 22 stops A DAY! Come on Rick, please don't mock our intelligence. If he said they stopped 8 for the year I might believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I completely agree with 8:38. That number is embellished to the point that it is utterly ridiculous and unbelievable. If there were even an inkling of enforcement I might believe a number of 1000, but 8000?!?!?

Rick, either you are being duped by the numbers McClellan is giving you, or you think that we are complete morons. Again, this will appease that group of tenants that live by Rick's words, but we all know the truth!

  6. I don't know what to think, aside from reporting what I see. And I think I see more than PS sees, aside from their monitors, which have not seen a potential rape/murder that was occurring for a reported ten minutes.

I have never seen, or maybe I have seen two or so a long time ago (almost forgotten or lost in some hazy memory) of dog walkers being stopped by PS. Basically, I see ignorance by PS, if they are around. 8,000? Where, who, how?

  9. Her Dog Shits BouldersMay 5, 2017 at 12:19 PM

It is Friday, May 5th, around noon. I just took a stroll around the Oval under my umbrella (of course ) in the pouring rain on this nasty day.
Sure enough I saw a woman with a huge dog right by the fountain area.
    You can guess the rest.
The canine, more the size of a small horse than a dog, squatted down and took the most massive shit I've ever seen.
More like Rock of Gibraltar boulders than turds.
Anyway after the beast finished its business, the lady began walking away.
I called out to her in the most polite, non-confrontational manner, "Miss, perhaps you should clean up after your pet?"
She looked back at me in the most incredulous manner and said," Oh, don't worry. The rain will wash it away. And you should mind your own f*cking business".
God Bless America and Long Live PigStuy Town.
Management sucks but some of the people are unbelievable.
    Comments?

  10. Dogs were never allowed here years ago because of all the complaints we see today.
THAT IS WHY! Met Life got it right, and the current owners ruined it for most of us.
This place really stinks. Have a nice weekend All.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah, I have a comment. I wish I was with you and saw this. My response after "mind your own fucking business" would have been extreme. Something to do with New York style. I think PS would have to be called, but I think PS is safely inside their office and staying there. Following every move that tenants make on their monitors, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  12. BTW, I have not seen any info in the building about the dog registration and lanyards. I have seen old info (three) from last month, but nothing yet.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Blood is starting to shoot out of my eyeballs again, after seeing some comments in the TA Facebook. The willingness of people to not only adapt to but welcome negative change (which, being air heads they think of as positive) is overwhelming. Blackstone relies on these people and their "voice."

And, please, no naming names. We know how the game is played now.

Just another classic example of the type of people that live here.
As long as you can pay your rent, they will rent to anyone.
    This place blows.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh no! We can't slam people using their real names. Because we all use our real names here. HAHAHAHA

Let me fix that sentence for you.

And, please don't use real names. Unless it Rick's cause you know it's Rick.

Look at that. Easy as Pie. Enjoy the weather.

    ReplyDelete
  16. As far as I'm concerned, as I'm a tenant, paying rent to live here, it IS my fucking business when people leave dog shit on the property and I would have had quite a few words for that stinking bitch and would have taken a photograph/video of the incident.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Quote from asshole on fb "StuyTown may be 70 years old, but not all its tenants are, and maybe if it's so disturbing to pay $2400/month for a three bedroom apartment in Manhattan it's time to move to Boca Raton."

This is a bro from Miami and a real sanctimoniously agist asshole to boot. Strangely enough, one of the other commenters who has often often expressed contempt for RS tenants (especially the older ones who she calls "old biddies clipping coupons and passing their RS apartments to their children" is also chipping in saying that allowing dogs is part of the RS laws. I guess all those buildings on Park Avenue and Fifth Avenue with the chi chi pooches being walked by the "help" are rent stabilized. Who'd a thunk.

    ReplyDelete
  18. ON the TA FB I notice the "Don't sweat the small stuff" moron is making nasty age bias remarks. What a fucking asshole! His mother failed. Bigly.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There are some very entitled nasty little bastards on the TA fb. They clearly resent the long term residents and make their contempt apparent at each and every opportunity. One little twit reminds us that even though the property is 70 years old, not all of the tenants are. He then goes on to make some reference to a $2,400 pm three-bedroom apartment. What a snotty little turd. Ageism and jealousy are so in-your-face from some of these little twits.

    ReplyDelete
  20. >>And, please don't use real names. Unless it Rick's cause you know it's Rick.<<

No, because Rick is a well known "personality" and doesn't keep his identity limited to a single blog.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This was my response to the TA FB (it is a public FB page) Miami "Bro":

"may be 70 years old, but not all its tenants are, and maybe if it's so disturbing to pay $2400/month for a three bedroom apartment in Manhattan it's time to move to Boca Raton."

    ReplyDelete
  22. The ageist bastard is a beardo with a man bun. So stereotypical. The woman who really, really resents the RS tenants is an old lady herself, but a MR tenant. An old lady body builder, actually, but that's something to be admired. If she'd just keep her nasty mouth shut and stop spouting her jealousy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. HA That "very entitled nasty little bastard" believes there is no shame in a multi-billion dollar real estate fund taking a gift from the Mayor of a $144 million dollar taxpayer funded "never-to-be-paid-back-loan" but a rent stabilized tenant paying $2,000 for a three bedroom should be blown to oblivion out of existence. The new neighbors on our floor are as without shame in their over-bloated sense of entitlement to whatever they want and will let nothing get in their way of grabbing at it.

  26. For some reason, my copy and paste of my post at the TA FB page did not hit this blog's comment section. Here it is:

“Yes the classic ageism line. Thank you.

I guess you have never experienced a disabled friend stepping in dog s*** on the T level lobby of a ST building after visiting a friend with terminal cancer. BTW, I don't have a dog, but I love them, play with them and pet them all time. They are joy when they are properly trained by their owners. One can have a wide range of demographics here who are responsible dog owners and one can have a wide range of demographics here who are irresponsible dog owners.”

Well, at least I got him to admit that it was ageism.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Has it reached a hundred yet? LOL. Over at the TA Facebook. My head is spinning.

Some of that is coming here, but I must go with my flow if it is too, eh, heated.

  28. Ooops: I was rude to you on facebook and you blocked you.

Shoulda been "and you blocked me."

    ReplyDelete
  29. I can't help but laugh hysterically, because I am the epitome of everything these two people on FB hate. I am in a three bedroom RS apartment that I legally took over from my parents by right of succession, and I now live there with my wife, kids and dog. I make more money in a year than the two of them will make in their lifetimes combined, and my rent is dirt cheap. I would also never hire the Miami bro because I don't hire millennials, especially when they are disrespectful and walk around with a sense of entitlement that is really just ignorance.

You want to know why I won't give up my apartment? It's because this is home to me and it always will be, even when I do move out someday. Because money is not an issue, I would give up my apartment in a heartbeat if I knew it would remain a true RS apartment and go to a middle class family that wanted to stay here long term, but I'm not leaving so Blackstone can get $7000 a month from a group of students that don't give a damn about this place.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I like the way the manager of the TA site cuts things off when the dialogue gets heated. I am sick of these Blackstone stoolies who constantly talk about how great this Pig Sty is and dis anyone who criticizes management or what goes on here. Rick has a real following.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 8:12 PM - good for you! If you are an RS tenant with 3 bedrooms and the kids have flown the coop, even if you want a 1-br or studio for the same rent, BS won't let you. They will charge you MR rent for a much smaller unit, so why should we give up our 3-br apartments after the kids have flown the coop? Fuck 'em. Greedy, stupid bastards. 38. ‘Why.... have you nothing better to do... call your family, volunteer your time, make a sandwich...’

This line sounds depressingly familiar to the “Get a life,”, “Get a grip” lines that populate the EV Grieve blog in response to when posters there stand up against the greed, hyper gentrification and the REBNY/politician mindset that has eviscerated this city for the past 15 years. Or lately the use of the “move to” line like “move to Boca”.

When you actually leave your real name at your post, maybe I’ll take your sanctimonious rant a just a little seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm the 8:12 poster, and I would give up my apartment in a heartbeat if it was going back to an affordable middle class lottery. I would even consider it if it was going into the sham DeBlasio/Garodnick lottery for $3500+, but not so Blackstone can reap the benefits at $7000+.

    ReplyDelete

  42. The jealous old duck who complains about old biddies sitting in their RS apartments clipping coupons and passing their apartments to their kids would be so pissed off at you, 8:12! We have to deal with so much ageism and smoldering jealousy because we are fortunate enough to live in RS units. It is really sickening. Some 20-something twit had the nerve to ask me how much I pay for my rent when I was doing laundry (and minding my own business). He had asked me how many room mates I had and I said none. I live alone in a one br. He said "I bet you pay only three figures for your apartment. I wish I did, but it is way more than that! I wouldn't tell him how much I pay because I don't share that information with strangers. I could see that he was smoldering with envy and indignation. Fuck off, you intrusive shit! We were here first and these are our homes that we do not plan to move out of. It's not our fault if you are paying an arm, a leg, and a pound of flesh and bucket of blood for the crip behind a pressure wall in your 3 bedroom that was formerly a one bedroom. Not our fault if you are may $3k or more for living like a squatter with your three or four room mates. And, quite frankly, I have no sympathy for you whatsoever because I am not the reason for your living conditions, our bloodsucking landlord and greedy politicians are the folks to blame. So wrap that up in a suppository and .....

  53. I honestly believe that they think that things are great and that we are just a small group of whiners. Obviously we know who the management shills are on the TA FB page, but if you look at the official Stuy Town FB page, there is a whole new set of Ricklievers. I think this way because Rick ignores the things being written on this blog, like security, carpeting, dog waste, bikes, golf carts, etc. Not a single area has seen improvement. Until they have some serious lawsuits on their hands, I doubt we will see much change.

    ReplyDelete
  54. they spend our enormous rent paid on highly paid lawyers. we will never win.

    ReplyDelete
  55. >>Rick ignores the things being written on this blog<<

He should not. Neither should he be ignoring the TA Facebook. To absolve him is wrong, I think. He is the manager of this community and should be looking at the TA Facebook at least. Not to do so is negligent. No two ways about it. Either he is negligent or has someone (or him) looking. If it is the latter, why not say so openly? What is the secret?

Perhaps someone who was in Special Forces will help. But where have we had experience with someone who was an officer in the Marines? I don't think he lasted a year as general manager. His walk was good, however.

As I wrote, I will get to the bottom of this.

  59. We haven't won very much. The QOL is deteriorating daily as Rick and Blackstone keep churning apartments. We have no real TA to represent us and the dormification is exploding. The moving in and out continues on a large scale, today 2 moving trucks in my loop alone. Nothing is changing. There is no victory here.

  60. STR, I don't think that the Sean Sullivan who worked here was ever a Marine. I believe that Sabina Mollot in T&V and in Real Estate Weekly made a mistake when she wrote that. There is a Sean Sullivan who was a Marine, but he never worked here!

Look at this official profile and see if you find any mention of the Marine Corp:

  65. Going at night to get milk does have its advantages: namely, one sees all those bicycle delivery guys riding without an id on their back to tell what restaurant they are from. Two riders I noticed on illegal motorized bikes where no pedals that had to be pushed. I was out for a very short span of time, too.

    Excellent job, Blackstone and PS!

    ReplyDelete
  66. STR, when someone is killed or maimed by one of these illegal motorized bikes - or even a pedal bike - zooming through the property - and Blackstone has a major lawsuit on its hands, then something will be done. Meantime, where is our so-called TA and slimy little councilman? They never say a peep about the dangerous bikes zooming around here and the fact that Blackstone and Public "Safety" in no way enforces the law, let alone the the "House Rules." Maybe the TA is on Blackstone's payroll and maybe Blackstone or the head of PS get some kind of "incentive" to not go after the delivery guys. Who knows. Corruption is endemic in this city and it reaches from the top (e.g., Cuomo and De Blasio) all the way down to dirty little council persons and so-called "Public Safety" officers.

They all feed at the same dollar-filled trough of corruption.

    ReplyDelete
  67. These bikes are the responsibility of Blackstone, as it is their property. The lack of enforcement is also their responsibility. They can, of course, give out excuses all they want, and they do.

BTW, the 13 Precinct is very interested in these bikes, particularly the motorized ones.

    Here are the city "rules":

    http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/bicyclists/commercial-cyclists.shtml

As you will see, what these untagged motorized bikes are doing it illegal. Our PS can stop them. Residents that know of a restaurant that uses them and their riders are encouraged to report them to the 13th. The more evidence, the better. There are not that many restaurants in the area. Some of these jokers even insert menus into your door.

    >>Enforcement

DOT's Commercial Bicycle Unit will enforce §10-157 and §10-157.1 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York while inspecting those businesses using bicycles for commercial purposes and in response to 311 complaints.

NYPD will continue to enforce both traffic-related moving violations against bicyclists and §10-157 and §10-157.1 against business.

    Electric Bikes

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles does not register electric bicycles, therefore their operation is prohibited in New York City.<<

    ReplyDelete
  73. Honest question.

What can these PS guys do when legally they can't grab these guys off bikes, put speed bumps or traps (wheelchairs/strollers) or give tickets since the store owners tell delivery guys to not carry ID so you can't issue a tickets?

Sure they can follow them to their stores if it's around the perimeter but aren't these guys stuck on property and have no juristiction off of it? ( not that they do stay on it but you get the idea )

  74. I feel the need to write and let you (STR) know how grateful I am for the incredible work you do without compensation for the good of all the residents of PCVST. I cannot Thank You enough. Without you most residents would not have any voice whatsoever. You are a true Hero!!!

I don't think it is illegal not to let them into ST or PCV if they are disobeying the law, which they are. Turn them around until they have proper ID.

  76. Take a look. Every PS officer should be familiar with this.

  77. BTW, I happened to be on 14 St. a while ago and these motorized bikes, with no id of course, are everywhere.

  78. Can we get back to Rick's total BS number of 8,000 dog lanyard stops? I spent quite a bit of time in the oval this weekend and I was specifically checking, and not a single stop was made in the 10+ hours I was out there. Rick is BLATANTLY LYING to all of us, and it's making me sick.

  79. I've been stopped a number of times, I could be upset, instead why not just look at it as a ways to better our community. I will not stand around and be critical of the other rules enforcement or lack thereof. All because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not done

  80. When someone gets knocked down, hits their head on the pavement and dies, then, and only then, will there be no bike riding allowed anywhere here, just like the old days.

Yeah, like when that young woman was sexually assaulted a few weeks back. Who-wee, after that nightmare you can't walk 10 yards around here at night without seeing another PS officer vigilantly patrolling the grounds.

Let's face it, it ain't never gonna be "just like the pold days" ever again.

I don't understand. What is being done?

They even have those plastic posters that advertise "24/7" for our security. LOL. Sure....

  83. I have to say that I'm getting mighty tired of looking at that bat on the main TA Facebook page. Or perhaps that is the newest mascot for this place: a gasping, dying bat.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Tommyboy, it's nice that you've been stopped, and I'd love to believe there is enforcement, but this number is an absolute lie. I talk to about 2 dozen dog owners every week while out with my dog, and not one of them have been stopped. As a matter of fact, you are the first person I've heard of getting stopped.

Mr. Shapiro has also done public searches for dog tickets in the property for not picking up poop, and it shows a whopping 2. But yet I'm supposed to believe there have been 8000 lanyard stops? Nope.

  85. I'm at the Oval a lot, and I have never seen this year, and probably the one before that, anyone stopped for a dog check. I have seen PS regularly ticket cars that are illegally parked, I'd say once a week. And very infrequently I will see PS (two whom I don't recognize as regulars) stop of delivery guy on a riding bicycle around the Oval. That's it. 8,000 dog walker stops in year!? Someone is lying.

  86. Never see PS officers at night and I come home just as it gets dark several times a week. That bat thing is ridiculous. First of all bats can be rabid. They are treating it like a little kitten. And back to the ridiculous on the TA site, how about music in the laundry? Might give Rick and Blackstone another idea for an "amenity".

    ReplyDelete
  87. They can stream the awesome summer concert series into the laundry rooms!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Can we put that bat out of everyone's misery? How many times do I have to look at that dying bat on the tenants' Facebook? Tishman Speyer tried, CW tried, Blackstone tried, but the TA bat can be the straw that broke my back!

    ReplyDelete
  89. OMG! Now that bat is being equated with "diversity"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Wasn't one of the playgrounds filled with bikini babes sunning themselves while being oblivious to the kids around them? After a while, the whole world was watching. I know. This blog got the most hits then, across the world. Well, we have our laundry show! Bikini Babes of Stuy Town!

  91. Did you know there are only a total of 4 vehicles that patrol this place? And you wonder why you never see any security around here. They sacrifice safety beacuse they don't want to hire any more of these dopes. Gotta close mt window again, POT smoke.

  92. Stuy Town Dorm, and management DOES NOT CARE! This place is a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  93. "They can stream the awesome summer concert series into the laundry rooms!"

No No Nooooooooo! I would rather have no laundry room at all than use one that streamed those execrable concerts!

  94. STR, have a little compassion for the bat, please. It's a living, breathing, feeling creature. If people feel moved to compassion by this creature, be glad of that. We have so many heartless fuckers in our midst and it's good to care about the suffering of even the "least" of the living, critters or humans.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Who said I feel nothing for the bat? Whether its photo belongs front and center (and I think it is dying) is another story.

    ReplyDelete
  96. More of that poor unfortunate bat. I think the bat, which is probably dead by now, will never leave the TA Facebook. I'm telling you, make it a mascot.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Of course, now it is a battle between John Marsh and that bat. Who will win? See tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  98. A bat in my opinion is a pretty disgusting creature. Would be a great mascot for the Pig Stuy.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I don't care about the bat, except for one reason - why we're a half dozen or so found dead or distressed over this past weekend? Is there something being sprayed or planted by our overlords meant to "control" the wildlife on the property, which is causing them to die in droves?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I think Marsh is going to win. He has two posts now and one is getting some feedback. Oh, and there is a dentist post to contend with, but not as popular as Marsh. The bat is still there, but I sense a lack of current concern over it.

Perhaps PS can help with delivery. They have eyes 24/7.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Marsh seemingly tries to remain relevant with his occasional post or response on a thread. I pretty much don't agree with a damn thing that he spews, but his posts remind me how inept our current TA "leadership" is... basically the former head of the TA is providing the tenants with more information (and completely biased opinions) than the current group of crooks running the helm at the TA. Susan, why is it that your predecessor seems more involved in the community than you? Is it because his hands are no longer tied by Dan the little man?

With that being said, I wish John would just shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Does Susan Steinberg (or any of the TA leadership) ever comment on the TA facebook? Maybe they are the moderators? I've never seen a post by Susan Steinberg.

  103. PCVST = DORM

    To All:

DO NOT LIVE HERE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

  105. John Marsh's post about missing packages is recycled from 2014! He was the TA leader at that time.

  107. Looks like it! At least we have our 24/7 Public Safety that is not beholden to the rules outside.

  108. BTW, I'm "pumped up" for next week. The start (okay, it's a re-start) of our lanyard rule! Remember, no lanyard and if are not a member of the good neighbor community (that's us!), then you and your dog get walked off the property!

I'll believe it when I see it.

  110. I am so sick of seeing moving trucks and u-hauls in my loop. Day in and day out at any given time they are there. Moving vehicles and suitcase Airbnbers all of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  111. For the past two weeks I have seen a person coming and going from my building with 2 dogs each over 50 pounds easily, frequently off leash as they enter the building and outside. Security has to see them as they have cameras in each entry. So, given that I call BULL on Rick Heyduck!
