For a Moment, I Thought...

The mattresses I saw at the loop near me were covered! So, the photos are working and Management is listening!

Silly me, though. Just now, I went to Associated. This is what I saw:

I was not going to post the photos I took the other day, figuring that the new mattresses had finally been covered, so what the hell? But, since I was wrong, these are the photos from the other day:

  1. You know STR, just an observation, in the days when moving out of ST was a notable event, the "move out' trash was kept in the carriage rooms and brought outside for bulk pickup. NOW, there is just so much turnover, it seems that they are just overwhelmed with the volume of it, BUT... since they built the garbage collection garage on Avenue C, I don't see why Blackstone can't run a bulk collection truck continuously around the loops and pick the stuff up when it appears. There should be a crew dedicated to this task all day, every day.

  2. This garbage disposal gets worse and worse. As long as management permits it on several locations on the loop, the pigs here will continue to dump, even on the sidewalk. Instead of having a TA meeting on Manhattan issues, the TA needs to hold a town meeting to hold Hayduk And Blackstone accountable for the filth. Let us confront them on the conditions here.

How and why is this permissible? See below the list of things that are on old mattresses. Beware, this is a partial list. I will post more heinous/harmful pathogens on improperly discarded furnishings shortly.

IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE WILL BECOME GRAVELY ILL!! THIS ALSO NEED ATTENTION FROM OUR REPRESENTATIVES

  6. The recycling room in my building is choc-a-bloc full of broken up boxes and huge garbage bags. It's not even possible to get near the recycling bins (which are overflowing with all kinds of dreck, anyway). I think this place has reached crisis point.

Rick, please resign. Go back to the trailer park you used to manage. I don't believe you ran a resort. You don't have the brains or imagination to hold that kind of responsibility. And you definitely do not have what it takes to run this place.

Just go away quietly and let's hope they replace you with somebody who knows how to run a hugh residential complex in the City of New York. You are out of your depth and you are dragging us all down with you.

  9. 9:45, I don’t think there are “usual suspects,” at least not anymore. People who may have been clean and considerate when moving out have seen that it is literally a free-for-all, and that anything goes when moving out, and they follow suit.

Why am I going to spend time wrapping a mattress that I am disposing of, when thousands of other before and after me didn’t!?!?! Why should I not toss my crap everywhere when leaving, just like everyone else?!?!

FYI - I’m not moving from here until I’m dead, so this is more from the perspective of anyone and everyone that does move.

  10. Not sure why 10:14 keeps telling Hayduk to resign. He does not run things. He takes orders and his bosses are very happy with him because he ingratiates tenants with his accessibility. I know that, because I have friends who like him. This poster needs to realize that any replacement would be status quo.

We had a nasty manager with CW that didn’t BS us with niceties, as CW destroyed the property. He was carrying out CW’s orders, and I know they didn’t tell him to be a PR nightmare in the process, it’s just who he was.

Rick is two-faced, and that is not on Blackstone. Do you really think the Blackstone bosses would lose sleep if there was a nasty general manager here who wasn’t responding to every email??? The answer is NO.

Please stop giving Rick credit, you either sound like an SPS employee, or Rick himself.

  12. Best Photo: U-Haul Truck (illegally parked?) in background behind midnight furniture dump says it all.

Last night a gypsy abandoned a tiny cubbyhole crammed into a former PCVST residential apartment transformed by Blackstone into chopped up dormitory housing. Today a replacement gypsy will temporarily occupy the same tiny cubbyhole. It's doubtful Blackstone has any clue about their identity or location. In fact, Blackstone not wanting to know about them pretends they don't exist.

There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of unidentified transients illegally occupying chopped up dormitory housing and illegal hotels here in PCVST and Blackstone wants to talk about dangerous squirrels.

Blackstone does not give a flying f#ck about the real safety of legal PCVST residents.

  14. Along with the slum look that graces this place every day, seems like we have the crime to follow suit:

    As per Citizen app:
Man displaying knife at 315 Avenue C (yesterday)
Residential burglary at 655 E14 on August 17
Man threatening Starbucks staff on 17th and First on August 17
Police investigating assault on 18th and First on August 28 (may not be on the property)

With a completely defanged public safety team (extremely disappointed in Fran Martin), all Public safety is here for is to act as resident services and greeters. They want to ignore crime altogether and just hope nothing truly bad happens. I’m guessing that poor girl in the lobby got a seven figure settlement from Blackstone and is now living comfortably (although I’m sure with a lot of therapy).

  17. Is there any way of finding out what happened with the sulfuric acid incident? I feel very uncomfortable living in a place that has that type of tenant. This place should NOT be used as a dorm. No wonder they are always begging tenants to bring in a friend to rent and are advertising so aggressively. Nobody who knows anything about this place want to come and rent here. It is a nasty, dirty, dangerous dump.

  19. I am a new tenant ( I know, fool that I am ). What a deal, $3,800 for a one-bedroom in this dump. Hahaha she says through her tears.
But I was desperate for a place for my one-year job assignment in New York. So I got suckered by the slick rental agents in their 1st Avenue office.
    My bad.
Anyway what's done is done. After one year I'm out of here.
    Nonetheless, money is tight.
I need to furnish my apartment.
Specifically I need a mattress for my bed.
    Sleepy's? Mattress Firm?
Nah, said one of my new neighbors, somewhat tongue in cheek.
Simply head on over to one of the loops and grab one of the filthy, uncovered mattresses strewn all over the sidewalk.
    They're free.
AND THE BEDBUGS are included as an "amenity".
    What a mistake moving here.
At least I have my sense of humor.
By the way, don't people believe in rugs?
I believe my upstairs neighborhood are running a bowling alley up there....at three in the morning.

When it comes to destroying this historic PCVST residential community, Blackstone doesn't discriminate.

The personal safety and overall QOL of Peter Cooper Village residents is also compromised and degraded by gypsy transients dumping furniture in the middle of the night as they vacate cubbyholes crammed into former PCVST residential apartments converted by Blackstone into dormitory housing and illegal hotels.

Along with our mayor and Dan Garodnick, the TA pushed this deal as the greatest thing that could have possibly happened to us aside from tenant ownership.

I believe a retraction of those statements is warranted, although I won’t hold my breath. Marsh and the TA will never admit they were duped by their pals DeBlasio and Garodnick.

Rick is in place to protect Blackstone’s investment and make as much money as possible from the place.

The TA and Powers are in place to protect themselves and the other politicians that got us into this mess. Don’t forget, Powers was a lobbyist and TA board member before coming a councilman.

Tenants have to protect their homes. For many of us, this is the only home we’ve ever known. The stability that we once had is long gone, and people are scared. I love when people say there are long-term tenants that “love” Rick. Long-term tenants FEAR Rick, and FEAR losing the only home they’ve ever known. This is why they pretend to like Rick and give him false praises.

Any long-term tenant (lifer) who tells you they love Rick and all these cheesy amenities is lying to your face, and they don’t trust you. They think you are a management mole. I have at least 20 lifers who feel and act this way, and that is more than the TA membership!

  69. Rick is a bullshit artist and the dead wood from the old regime fit the bill perfectly for him. The people who have been negatively mentioned on this thread were here as far back as when Rose ran the place and they were useless (and in the case of one of them) nasty then. Blackstone should have had a complete purge of all of the dead wood, but it seems they only got rid of the one person people complained about the most because she was the one they always had to deal with. I speak of the Deadly Donalda! Instead of throwing out the garbage, Blackstone got rid of some of the best of the so-called Public Safety department and installed puppets who are not permitted to do anything more than wear a uniform and smile.
