Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

"No trees were cut down..." The TA - Peter Stuyvesant Reports!
I have another post in the near future, but I had to get this in, with photo, because not only did I see a tree being cut here and there, but I also heard the very loud noise a buzz-saw was making. The fact that the TA has assumed something different is not only telling on the TA (it's clear now that your TA does not see what goes on around here) but is indicative of the SPIN told by Stuy Town to anyone who says something different. I guess Management's way out is the tree was removed, but not really, really "cut down."
Here is the process in progress:
"Peter Stuyvesant: We asked this question and were told no trees were cut down...."
"Will ask again. Perhaps
bushes/other plantings were removed. I know some benches were removed.
But we were assured no trees were cut down."
UPDATE: Since Blackstone is broke, residents will have to learn how to make labels themselves and put a label on the front door.
The TA just sent out an email about names not being on lobby directories and apartment doors. The asses gave their phony president as an example of issues created. Instead of doing anything about it they tell residents to call management. Do something about the heat you fools. Disband! Disband! You are nothing TA.
The TA is controlled by a bunch of spineless liars. The various "Peter Stuyvesants" are controlled by Management. What they get in return is debatable. Just ignore what they say because they have their own agenda. Honesty with tenants is not part of their agenda. You saw trees being cut down? How dare you say such a thing! Clearly, you were hallucinating!
They are raving about the veteran ceremony already on the TA site. Phony cheerleaders. When I get some heat maybe I will mellow out. Right now their whole agenda disgusts me. It is phony.
Have you noticed . . . • Strangers calling on the intercom in the wee hours of the morning? • Food delivery gone astray? • Package dumped at the wrong door? • Emergency workers and caregivers needing direction to an apartment? No wonder.
Tenants’ names have totally disappeared from the video intercom. Check it for yourself. Only apartment numbers and buzz-in numbers are now listed.
This came to light this weekend when Susan Steinberg, president of the Stuyvesant Town–Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association, had visitors who didn’t remember her apartment number—and couldn’t look her up on the intercom by name because it was no longer there.
This is now the case throughout our complex as a quick survey of other buildings confirmed.
But the intercom change is only the latest obstacle to making sure caregivers, delivery people, emergency workers, friends, relatives, and neighbors get to the right door:
Management has already decided not to put tenants’ names on apartment doors. Management has already removed directories from lobbies. If you want to locate a neighbor or check the correct apartment, you can’t. You may find yourself wandering the halls, calling out a name and hoping someone answers.
Not being able to look up a resident by name is not only tenant unfriendly, it goes against the concept of community-building—something management keeps saying it is in favor of.
The TA does not agree with these changes. So how did we get here?
This is the explanation management gave the Tenants Association about no longer putting your name on your door: It costs too much.
New tenants’ names are given to a supplier, who makes the labels. Then, when the labels are delivered, they have to be sorted and then distributed to be affixed to the door. Similarly, it’s too much work to update the building directories.
We don’t agree, and we even offered to make the labels ourselves, although we understand that some tenants may prefer not to have their name on their door for privacy.
Tenants, if you find any of this unacceptable, particularly if you are concerned about your safety or that of a neighbor, please call Resident Services to register your displeasure. The number is (212) 420-5000.
The TA has a link on the TA Facebook to the official Stuy Town page run by Property Services. No comment from the TA, just a link. The TA seems not aware of what it is doing.... But they do have a "seat at the table."
Willfully blind TA willfully loses memory to agree with lying Black$tone's alternative facts.
We received a TA email message Subject: "tenant unfriendly" tonight. (We quit paying dues when TA Board formed a business partnership with major REBNY predator Brookfield, but still receive regular emails soliciting member dues. Does this enable the member-starved TA to count us as members?)
Apparently the TA Board President just discovered Black$tone has no fu¢king clue and does not give a flying fu¢k about properly identifying anyone currently occupying more than 12,000 former PCVST residential apartments. Everyone, including decades-long residents, is a participant in Black$tone's anonymous transient CHURN.
I'm not a member of the TA now, so I don't get this blast. Why is it not on the Facebook page?
But, now that Steinberg is involved and residents (including myself) are bitching about the TA, some action may happen. But please, please, don't wimp out and offer to pay for labels!!!
>>New tenants’ names are given to a supplier, who makes the labels. Then, when the labels are delivered, they have to be sorted and then distributed to be affixed to the door. Similarly, it’s too much work to update the building directories.<<
So Blackstone is admitting that there is churning and they can't handle it?
"Tenants, if you find any of this unacceptable, particularly if you are concerned about your safety or that of a neighbor, please call Resident Services to register your displeasure. The number is (212) 420-5000."
What a joke. The nerve of that bogus TA telling residents to call management. I guess they gave up their”seat at the table.” On these 50 degree days we get absolutely no heat. This is outrageous.
STR, it is clearly not just new tenants because Steinberg's visitors couldn't find her name in the intercom.
I just can't believe they have sunk this low. It will probably get worse.
OT - on the TA fb some person commented that when she told a couple of young people that they really shouldn't have let her visitors in, they came back to the intercom and flipped the bird. Some stupid bitch commented that she shouldn't have mentioned that the rude ones were young. OMG! Political correctness can go too far.
This latest penny-pjnching ruse of Blackstone is going to cause a lot of confusion, upset and be an ABSOLUTE BOON to thieves this coming Holiday Season. They can't afford to keep the directory up to date and they can't afford to put labels in the intercom and on the tenants' doors. Blood-sucking parasites of the very, very worse kind. They make me want to vomit.
Some of the idiots on the TA facebook are welcoming the "anonymity." What a bunch of total jerks. This is going to cause so much trouble for the delivery services and letter carriers, as well as visitors.
Please go away, Rick. We don't like you or want you around anymore. You are not up to the job and if you can work for such a despicable, life-negating company as Blackstone, then you don't have much moral fiber.
Though I am not an expert on this issue, it would seem that this "can't do a label or update the directory" is a diminution of services. I don't know of any landlord who would even suggest such a thing.
This is management admitting they churn apartments constantly. In the old days, 'name labels' on doors and in lobbies would stay for decades as tenants usually only left this place horizontally. Now, management would probably need to assign a few full-time employees as 'Label Associates!' to keep up with the churn.
I've been here for 40 years and have seen this place deteriorate over time especially after MetLife sold the property. I'm seeing a general QOL deterioration not just here but around the city. This is partly due to the current Mayor as well as district attorneys not prosecuting 'low-level' perps.
I'm old enough to remember the city 'going to Hell' in the 70's thru the 90's. I grew up in a public housing project in the South Bronx so I have first-hand knowledge of what this city was like at its worse. This city can and will go back to the 'bad old days' if 'progressive liberal policies' continue to prevail.
Even though I have an 'old' rent stabilized apartment I'm strongly considering moving out of New York in the next few years. After 58 years of living in this city I'm not interested in dealing with another wave of crime and political incompetence.
It's not easy giving up a $1500/month 1-bedroom apartment but you have to like where you live and feel safe too.
As far as Stuytown, I don't ever see it getting better but only worse over time. I'm lucky that I have the ability to move if I choose to but I feel sorry for some neighbors who are stuck here.
I feel the same way about this place. Moving is a big undertaking, but I cannot tolerate being cold anymore in my apartment. This place is a disgusting property to live in and it is only getting worse.
STR, I was just going to post exactly what you said, but you beat me to it! I think it is, indeed, a diminution of services and it is about as cheap and outrageously chintzy as it's possible to get! This slashing of services is sheer vindictiveness on the part of Blackstone. They are in such a snit over the fact that laws were passed to stop them from constantly "renovating" and driving tenants out for the sake of getting more money with each new lease, that they are punitively retaliating against all of us. They cut security/safety to the bone, cut resident services to the bone and deny us adequate heat and now they take away the directories and name labels. I guess we will just have to put up our own name tags on our doors. That's gonna be pretty.
All of this indicates what a vile and vicious bunch of thugs now own this place. When you get condemned by the UN for being the worst landlord on the planet .... Well, that speaks for itself.
My pipes have been ice cold for three days. The bastards love this weather. If it is over 55, they are not legally bound to give heat and they don’t . I pray for cold days do they have to give us some heat.
There is some airhead on the TA fb who "treasures her anonymity" and has no problem with the lack of directories, etc. She puts out so much of her business on fb and has already announced she's a singer and has no problem with people "rehearsing" in their apartments, even if it annoys neighbors. Where do they get these dolts?????
What happens if the EMT is called and they are not sure of the apartment to go to, but they do know the name of the patient? This is going to create a lot of problems (probably life-threatening) for many people. It may not be illegal, but it is the absolute epitome of contempt for tenants and disregard of our well-being and safety (not to mention convenience), and all to save a few dollars.
I probably shouldn't be surprised that a company that is headed by somebody who is destroying the Rain Forest has such a vindictive policy. This is punishment and vengeance wreaked on the tenants for the fact that laws were passed to prevent these thugs from raising rents exorbitantly and bleeding tenants dry. Clearly Rick has no decency or he wouldn't be working for such a vile outfit and carry out its destructive and harmful orders.
Can you believe these bloodsucking parasites are no longer putting up a directory of tenants and not having names on the intercom! There is such a churning of these apartments and so many transients, students, AirbnB guests, illegal sublets, etc., that they just can't keep up and don't want to spend a dime even for the benefit of the tenants who have a legitimate lease and actually call this place "home."
This really is the proverbial "straw." No heat, no Security, no RS, no maintenance and now this!
I don't think they've been updating the intercom for a while now because I am always getting buzzed by people who can't find who they're looking for so just ring any apartment at random to be let in. I keep my intercom turned off now unless I'm expecting a visitor or delivery. We are paying a huge MCI for these intercoms so the least they can do is keep them updated with the names of tenants/occupants, whatever.
Every day in every way Blackstone shows what a vile landlord it is and Hayduk shows what an asshole he is.
STR, that video and the photographs so very, very clearly show what a slum this has become. It's hard to believe that it once was a pristine "oasis" in the City. Now it is very much like (or worse than) a NYCHA project. In fact, I have friends in a NYCHA building on 115th and Lex and you never see dirty (or any!) mattresses tossed out on the property.
Something that speaks volumes about Rick Hayduk and his style of "management" is the fact that in every lobby there are two holders of glossy pamphlets. One is filled with pamphlets advertising "The Ice" and the other advertises the events of the month. Meantime, he is having directories of tenants' names and apartment numbers removed.
Go run a hotel, Rick, and leave us alone! Surely, Blackstone could find a competent residential property manager?
Slimy Shameless Susan Steinberg was seen trolling for $50 memberships to the bogus Tenants Association by the new Veterans Memorial statue. Have you no shame, Susan? Ever hear of the concept self-respect? The response "Just Call Rick" to all resident concerns just doesn't work anymore. How about opening up the books to your possibly corrupt and probably criminal organization. A fraud, a real fraud!
Tonight a neighbor and myself were entering the building together and we saw a large box from some food delivery place sitting in the vestibule at the Terrace level. The label clearly indicated the person's name, but the apartment number had been obliterated by scuffs and a tear. Of course, we couldn't find the person's name in the directory because the directory no longer has names. We had no idea what the apartment # would be, so we pushed the (very heavy) box into the lobby and hope that the person to whom it is addressed sees it and takes it.
Leaving tenants' names off the intercom directory is the most lame brained idea that Rick has come up with. It is totally ridiculous and is going to cause some major problems, especially with the Holidays coming up.
Rick, please take some well-meant advise. Go away and run a hotel and please don't ever try to run a residential property again. You are not qualified to do that, but I am sure you are a wonderful little entertainment director a a resort or on a cruise ship. You are hurting us, Rick. Your ideas are not good ones. Not for here. We need a PROPERTY MANAGER WITH EXPERIENCE IN MANAGING PROPERTIES. RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES. PROPERTIES WHERE PEOPLE LIVE.
I wish you could take all the students, transients, air b b folks with you too. We don't like them roaming around, especially as you and Chief Martin have dumbed down the Security Force we used to have and reduced them to NOTHING but window dressing.
For the umpteenth time, you will NEVER get a decent property manager here. Hayduk follows Blackstone‘s agenda. Anything he does is endorsed by his evil bosses. Please stop thinking that he can be replaced by someone decent.
Rick is running this property exactly how Blackstone wants it run - as a transient resort. They have done absolutely nothing to show that they have plans of creating a stable community, so people need to get it out of their heads that Rick needs to be fired.
Rick has done an excellent job in creating a resort, which is exactly what Blackstone wants. They have done a great job at marketing these “events” and “amenities” to their target clients - students and people looking for a place to live for 1-2 years.
Although people on here may continue to think differently, this is no longer a residential property as we have known it for 75 years. It is now a residential resort, and Rick is exactly the man to continue that trend.
Oh, and the people who deserve ALL OF THE BLAME for this are our politicians and the TA.
Heard on the news today that Campos Plaza will not be getting heat and hot water today because of repairs to the system. Hey, Campos Residents! Now you know what it's like living in Stuyvesant Town EVERYDAY!
For the umpteenth time, you will NEVER get a decent property manager here. Hayduk follows Blackstone‘s agenda. Anything he does is endorsed by his evil bosses. Please stop thinking that he can be replaced by someone decent.
SO LONG AS HAYDUK IS THE FACE OF AND REPRESENTATIVE OF BLACKSTONE, HE IS THE SATANIC SERVANT WILL WE GO AFTER.
These idiot cheerleaders who are crowing over the new Veterans Monument and other Blackstone crap must have heat in their apartments. How can anyone praise what this evil company does if they are deprived of heat. I woke up on this cold morning to a cold apartment. The heat finally went on at 11 AM but it is still not comfortable. Maybe these cheerleaders have a deal with Slick Rick to heat their apartments. Otherwise how can they possibly praise this management. Every place you enter in the city is warmer than these dump apartments.
To: 11/11 12:39 If EMS cannot locate a tenant because of this insane policy and someone dies or their treatment results in further damage due to delays it will make a very good lawsuit - take note.
As far as diminished services perhaps a class action lawsuit should be considered.
"The TA just sent out an email about names not being on lobby directories and apartment doors. The asses gave their phony president as an example of issues created."
wait. WHAAAATT?!? this is...just bizarre. are we all in some kind of witness protection program?? all 30,000 of us would be in danger if...our names should be listed on our apartment doors?? I am dying with laughter at this idea, except that it's not really a joke, if management thinks people are just gonna take this. what other building in the entire city doesn't list tenants' names on their doors, and usually OUTSIDE the building, on the intercom?
this is so outrageous I think it warrants a complaint to Powers--I know he doesn't do anything really, but this is just such gaslighting and total lack of competence from Blackstone. there's got to be some legal grounds on which to fight this. come on, all you old school jewish new yorkers, aren't there any lawyers out there that have some ideas about this? some way to approach Powers?
"If EMS cannot locate a tenant because of this insane policy and someone dies or their treatment results in further damage due to delays it will make a very good lawsuit - take note."
But you will never hear about because Blackstone, with it billions, will settle with NDAs signed all round. Remember the woman who was assaulted at playground three where the caught the guy?
Heat? What's heat? It something that even the Projects have. Stuy Town? Nah! What should I do? Call 311? Call Resident Services? Call the Buildings Department? Nope! I just asked Susan Steinberg and she said those magic three words: "JUST CALL RICK!" Now why didn't I think of that?
I called RS today to protest the removal of the directories in the lobbies and on the intercoms. The answer I got was that it was done for security purposes and that some people don't like their names listed. I was also told that new tenants are given the option of having their name on their door.
Security my ARSE! This is nickeling and dimeing us to death. Lazy, greedy bastards.
It was done because they cannot keep track of the transient flow in and out. The turnover is out of control. When you have a property full of dorms, Airbnb, and tourists it becomes out of control.
What a terrible state of things in this dorm dump that you have to worry about whether or not you will have adequate heat when you return to your apartment on this freezing cold night. Your workplace is warm and the bus is warm. You do not know what awaits you in the apartment you pay rent on. Shame on you Hayduk and your bastard bosses for putting us through this.
11PM and heat has been off a hour. They need to have it on constantly on frigid days like today. Now we will wake up to a cold apartment. So tired of their sick games of heat deprivation.
"come on, all you old school jewish new yorkers, aren't there any lawyers out there that have some ideas about this? s"
This part of the comment is blatantly anti-Semitic and should not have been allowed to be posted on your blog at all. Since it's either all or nothing for a post, the whole post needs to be deleted ASAP.
Our councilman’s office does nothing to assist us against Blackstone. They do not respond to e-mails. Totally useless. They will not confront Blackstone on heat or other critical quality of life issues here.
>>This part of the comment is blatantly anti-Semitic and should not have been allowed to be posted on your blog at all.<<
I considered the post for a moment. But what if the poster is Jewish himself or herself? I don't know about "blatantly"... There are other things one can say that are blatant. Whatever the case, this city is known to have a lot of Jews. Those are the facts. Certain occupations are ethnic centered. Those are the facts. I can't read someone's mind unless the person does/says something that is indeed blatant. This? I don't know.
I too noted a hint of stereotyping, a form of anti semitism as well. I doubt that the poster was Jewish and the notion of ethnic centered professions is no longer correct . This poster’s remark annoyed me as well and struck me as not only biased but ignorant.
""come on, all you old school jewish new yorkers, aren't there any lawyers out there that have some ideas about this? s"

What utter fucking bullshit! It's a compliment to old school Jewish Lawyers! The best. Knew/know their stuff and don't bend over for private equity firms like Blackstone.
Older Jewish lawyers had to fight to overcome prejudice and misogyny as well as financial hardship to get into law school and when they did get into law school, they gave it their best! I'd love to have Ruth Bader Ginsberg in my corner! She is my hero!

My goodness, it's as if Bigmo pulled all of my thoughts out of my brain. What he/she wrote really can't be improved upon in my opinion. My thoughts and experiences exactly.
I do believe, however, that most of our vitriol should be directed at the entity which allowed Blackstone into our lives and not Blackstone per se. Blackstone was and is no mystery, but for and entity whose existence is predicated on ensuring the well being of tenants living in this sty to just feed tenants to the wolves is just diabolical. Please let's all not lose track of who should be the object of our ire.
Why the f—- doesn’t Peter Stuyvesant answer the people who post that they have no heat. One hour of heat this morning, then off. Can’t stand this tenement slum anymore.
"come on, all you old school jewish new yorkers, aren't there any lawyers out there that have some ideas about this? s"
This part of the comment is blatantly anti-Semitic"
There's a word (two words) for people like you, and it is SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE. I bet youre one of those people who complains about millenials being too PC on the TA page, right?
>>I too noted a hint of stereotyping, a form of anti semitism as well. I doubt that the poster was Jewish and the notion of ethnic centered professions is no longer correct .<<
There is zero intent on my part to insult any nationality. I don't know about the poster. Maybe, but maybe not. From reading the message, it is not clear to me. As for ethnic centered professions, check out who owns and mans a lot of the current newspaper stands. Or, if you get pizza, who makes the pizza? Rarely is it Italians or Italian-Americans. Some businesses became ethnic centered, and changed, but are now centered around another ethnicity. To willfully ignore this reality is nice, very nice, but that's about it.
Just a note that the two times I went to see a Broadway show was the Jackie Mason one. This was years ago, but he had the audience laughing uncontrollably because of his non-PC--and very true--observations.
Such an uninformed response. Until the 1970s Jews were excluded from most major law firms because of anti Semitism .From that emerged some great law firms founded by Jewish lawyers from top law schools. Those firms have never excluded non Jews. Further, the vast majority of lawyers are not Jewish . Waiting for someone to call us “ shysters” and then have some idiots who comment anonymously that “ shyster” is in no way anti Semitic. This is the second time I have called out Stuy Town Reporter for posting an anti Semitic post . Just shameful especially for hiding behind the cloak of anonymity
"There's a word (two words) for people like you, and it is SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE. I bet youre one of those people who complains about millenials being too PC on the TA page, right?"
>>the notion of ethnic centered professions is no longer correct<<
Continuing... What of "happy ending" massages? I am sure that you can find different nationalities doing that work, but the Chinese have a market here predominantly. Or else the cops are continually busting the wrong ethnicity.
"Older Jewish lawyers had to fight to overcome prejudice and misogyny as well as financial hardship to get into law school and when they did get into law school, they gave it their best! I'd love to have Ruth Bader Ginsberg in my corner! She is my hero!"
So do I. But this is a deflection.
"What utter fucking bullshit! It's a compliment to old school Jewish Lawyers! The best. Knew/know their stuff and don't bend over for private equity firms like Blackstone."
We will soon see if my post is f*****g BS.
STR, I have provided full context and sent the posts to the ADL for their opinion. I am hoping that you will let post what they have to say, whether its for or against my POV. We will see what they have to say. I think you made a mistake in posting it but I do not accuse you or even the poster of being anti-semantic. And referring back to Jackie Mason is really not a good comeback option today. He was, like many, a man of his time. BTW, is the term “colored people” acceptable to use today? Jews being "naturally" good lawyers (because that is what the post implies, not that many Jews are lawyers) acceptable?
I agree with you that the poster was out of line in his stereotyping. You don’t hear remarks like that anymore. I am not extremely politically correct, but I found that remark about Jewish lawyers offensive.
"Continuing... What of "happy ending" massages? I am sure that you can find different nationalities doing that work, but the Chinese have a market here predominantly. Or else the cops are continually busting the wrong ethnicity."
If you’re against the removal of residents names from our video intercom systems, please email Rick Hayduk and tell him. If he hears from enough tenants MAYBE it will get him to relent and restore our names. What he has done is not only dumb, it’s dangerous.
I don 't think there was anything anti-semitic in the post about old Jewish lawyers, etc. To me, it sounded like "how about we get some GOOD lawyers taking on Management. Stereotyping or not, Good Jewish Lawyers and Good Jewish Doctors are a highly-revered group of professionals! They are (or were) long considered the mainstay of good lawyering and good doctoring! A lot of us wouldn't go to any other for our legal and medical needs. And I am not Jewish. I a speaking as a life-long New Yorker who reveres professionals who really know their stuff. Not saying that the non-Jews in those professions are not good, but some ethnicities have a a reputation (well-earned) for being the best of the best.
I worked for a Jewish law firm for years and totally admired the way they took their profession ethics so seriously. Of course, there are always the exceptions, e.g., Michael Cohen, now a guest of Club Fed, but there are always some bad apples. Jews put great stock by education and they make some of the best teachers and excel in many professions because of the emphasis on education. Of course, if they for some reason "sell-out" the ethics and strongly-instilled sense of decency, than you get shit heads who will only do what they can to make a buck. That goes for every profession though.
Talk of these ethnicities is stereotypical and on the fringe of bias. I mistrust people who rationalize their statements by flattering or lauding the group mentioned. You are still singling out and stereotyping a group whether it is unfavorable or favorable.
>>STR, I have provided full context and sent the posts to the ADL for their opinion. I am hoping that you will let post what they have to say, whether its for or against my POV.<<
>>I don 't think there was anything anti-semitic in the post about old Jewish lawyers, etc.<<
This is a true story because it happened to me....
Ages ago, in my twenties, I saw a doctor. I didn't see him beforehand, so I didn't expect anything. As I entered I saw the doctor was an African-American. In my head was the thought that I was hoping for a Jewish or white doctor, not one that was black and, to me, not as qualified. That was my view at that time, and I wonder how many people have that view today. To me, calling someone a Jewish lawyer is not automatically an insult.
>>And referring back to Jackie Mason is really not a good comeback option today. He was, like many, a man of his time. BTW, is the term “colored people” acceptable to use today?<<
I wonder how many people are closer to Jackie's age than the twenty-somethings here? "Colored people" is not acceptable term these days because there are much noise in eliminating certain terms. But it was used, without malice, back in the day.
4:07 PM here. Sorry, I misread the original comment. I somehow read "Jewish lawyers" rather than Jewish New Yorkers.
My apologies. Having said that, I do believe that "old time" generational Jewish New Yorkers" have a certain savvy and can see through and cut through bullshit better than anybody else and many are direct descendants of a large vibrant community that brought this City to life in the 19th Century (no disrespect to the Italians, Irish, Germans, Chinese and many others who also did that).
I see no insult or antisemitism in what the OP said. The quintessential savvy of the generational New Yorker is often quite different from the way the newbies view things. And the Jews have a unique sense of humor.
In the UK the term "colored" was always acceptable; "black" was not. Don't ask me why. I lived there once and just know it was that way. Now it's "Afro-Caribbean," "Asian" and who knows what else.*
*Who knows what else is not an ethnic label. It's me thinking out loud.
With all this talk about Jewish attorneys have a laugh:
A woman on a train walked up to a man across the table. “Excuse me,” she said, “but are you Jewish?” “No,” replied the man. A few minutes later the woman returned. “Excuse me,” she said again, “are you sure you’re not Jewish?” “I’m sure,” said the man. But the woman was not convinced, and a few minutes later she approached him a third time. “Are you absolutely sure you’re not Jewish?” she asked. “All right, all right,” the man said. “You win. I’m Jewish.” “That’s funny,” said the woman.” You don’t look Jewish.”
Yes, sorry about when people make statements about a religion or group like that poster did, I see that they are biased . Maybe not meant in a mean spirit but almost rationalizing that the group is different.
Two talks lately with those in the know here. They yielded the following information:
1. All of the crap and intensifying bullying regarding the HEAT, is just that: crap. If the horse whose mouth this came out of can be trusted (and this horse is one of the few INVOLVED with the heating system), please read what I heard from the horse's mouth:
Forget the elaborate explanations about sensors. Forget "management" and "supervisor" types explaining how sophisticated is our new heating system. IT IS SCREWED! Specifically, among other problems, the wires connecting the sensors are OLD. THEY ARE THE OLD TELEPHONE SYSTEM'S WIRES, RESULTING IN: THE SENSORS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. PERIOD.
Connected with this (and you'll pardon the pun), there is only a "LIMITED BUDGET" ALLOTTED TO FIXING THIS HIDDEN, OBFUSCATED, CONTROLLING PROBLEM. Only a specific, limited number of sensors can be rewired at any one season or year due to (Blackstone's) LIMITED BUDGET FOR THIS SITUATION.
Have any resident services (ha!) folks, management (ha) folks or other Blackstone employees 'splained this little gem of a fact to you???
2. Under NO circumstances does ANY PERSON with whom we speak here care about: the temperature outside (27 degrees ain't no big thing, for example). Ditto for if you're freezing your toesies, nose, knees, infant, sick grandmother and the like. WHATEVER YOU ARE EXPERIENCING AND FEELING AND SENSING WITH YOUR SKIN AND OTHER ORGANS IS ENTIRELY, THOROUGHLY, AND COMPLETELY GODDAMN IRRELEVANT.
Further, there's some chance that they no longer will respond with any speed, or maybe NOT AT ALL to pleas to fix your windows which let in frigid air.
That there is a building and particularly vicious refusal to even listen to the EFFECTS on human BODIES of their heating sadism suggests very, very, very strongly to me that:
As has been commented on this blog previously, THIS CAMPAIGN IS COMING FROM WAY ON TOP AND IS ENTIRELY OUT OF THE HANDS OF EVEN OUR "MANAGEMENT" OFFICE. This is further bolstered by the fact that one of the highest people up here in a vital department has been deprived of heat in their home while dealing with a very grave illness.
Is someone really going to go to the ADL about an anonymous post on a blog about life in Stuy Town?? How about instead of doing that you spend that time and energy writing to someone who can help us get some damn heat. People are still going to have their antiquated thoughts and stereotypes whether you go to the ADL or not, but you wanna know I’m still not going to have??? Yeah, HEAT!
Can we get back to what really matters around here??
I agree somewhat, but just complaining about the heat situation is doing nothing. After a miserable cold night, the heat came on at 4 AM. It is at minimum legal level. Cannot call 311 as I intended to. They are crafty and devious. Still no answer to my e-mail to Powers’ office. Tenants are suffering here.
" see no insult or antisemitism in what the OP said. The quintessential savvy of the generational New Yorker is often quite different from the way the newbies view things. And the Jews have a unique sense of humor."
I am the one who first said it was not cool. And I am a native New Yorker, born, raised and still living in Stuyvesant Town. BTW, I have seen Henny Youngman, Dennis Wolfberg and Rodney Dangerfield at shows several times.
STR, may I respectfully request that we get back to the original discussion about Management's crackbrained decision to remove all names from the intercoms? This is going to be a major problem when people start receiving holiday gifts without apartment numbers on the labels. We all know this is going to result in many stolen packages and outright confusion. I wish Rick would use what few brain cells he has to think of ways of making our lives more livable in this chaotic dump. Thank you.
OMG! Just go look at the TA facebook page. So many people with no heat and cannot get RS to even pick up the phone!
There needs to be an expose about this place. What they are doing is criminal. Rick is a nothing. Just a tool of Blackstone. They probably hired him because he is a schmuck and a smarmy liar. They wouldn't hire a real man because no real man would do their bidding.
Apartments getting no heat in this kind of weather is a big part of what constitutes a slum. The thermometers show that the apartments are illegally under-heated, but when you can't get hold of RS what are you supposed to do?
The vile conditions of this place should be picked up by the press. You expect this in a tenement slum and the City will go after those landlords, but because of the BIG name of Blackstone, the City turns a blind eye.
Hayduk should be kicked out and somebody appointed by the City should be put in his place. He's a useless manager because he has to do as his vile "superiors" tell him to do. Nobody with any semblance of decency and self-respect works for Blackstone. It's like working for the Mafia or a drug cartel. You have to have absolutely no integrity and self-respect or you wouldn't do it.
Was just reading the TA FaceBook and it seems people are freezing again this year. My apartment is almost as cold as being outside, but I have two space heaters which I will switch on soon (just got home). This place really sucks! Whatever their heat system is, it's a total failure. Problem is, we have a property manager who just doesn't care. He probably doesn't live on the property (even if he has an apartment here to make it look like he does).
I've never lived on such a badly managed substandard property (which they charge ridiculous rents for!) It's no wonder they have such a constant turnover. Who could make this substandard place home? I think if it had a manager who cared and who engaged employees who cared, it could be a lovely place to live. The grounds and all the trees and greenery are lovely. But the apartments are ice chests and the management is abysmal!
Last night was the coldest night yet. 65 in my bedroom. According to the TA site, this lack of heat was widespread. Heat came back at 4 AM . Conveniently so that when RS opens, everyone has heat
Keith Powers- spineless coward Rick Hayduk- slick, hypocritical puppet Susan Steinberg-phony hag TA- vindictive frauds
Just shameful especially for hiding behind the cloak of anonymity<<
I am fully aware of what Jews went through in the States and elsewhere, and are going through now. But, as I said: I was concerned about the statement, but I did not see it as blatantly anti-Semitic. Some others can disagree, and some can agree. God Bless America, where freedom of speech is still around. For now.
>>STR, may I respectfully request that we get back to the original discussion about Management's crackbrained decision to remove all names from the intercoms? This is going to be a major problem when people start receiving holiday gifts without apartment numbers on the labels.<<
I hope to do a front page post on this soon. This decision, coupled with a reasoning that Blackstone is broke, is insane. The decision may change, though. Wait a week and we shall see.
Can anyone please advise me? I am paying over 4 grand a month and there is no heat? How is this possible? Calls to management get me nowhere. What a mistake moving here.
I wish I could give advice other than call 311. I too am frustrated with the second year of these heat problems. I froze last night and they continue to get away with it. We get no help from our councilman or nonexistent TA. I am a long time tenant and living here used to be great. Sorry you made that mistake of moving here.
His answer on the TA site was ridiculous. These are not individual problems. This heating issue is affecting many of us more and more. If he is reporting our complaints to management, it is not doing any good.
Why is my apt freezing? Why does it take 45 minutes to reach resident services? Why are there piles of shit, shit stains, and piss stains all over the property (and occasionally in the hallways and elevators)? Exactly what is the Stuyvesant Town Peter cooper Village Tenants Association doing about all of this? Why did the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association allow Blackstone into our lives in the first place when we had an opportunity to take control of the property ourselves? Why.......
I find it very offensive the way posts here refer to the manager of the property. Pronouns are being used without consulting with the individual as to which to use. Be respectful and inquire what pronoun to use in the future. Here is a partial list for the uneducated. He, She, It, They, Ne, Ve, Spivak, Ze (or zie), Ze (or zie) and zir, and Xe.
In the future get permission before using pronouns. If not I will refer the post to The Thought Police and The Ministry of Truth!
They keep saying that the heating issues are individual and each one is different, but so many of us are having issues that there must be something wrong with the entire system or they are purposely slumping in the heat. Had 4 hours of heat this morning, now cold again. They say they have to send the engineer first. There is no end to this misery.
There are so many people complaining on the TA and the Tenants facebook pages about having no heat.
This withholding of heat is deliberate and calculated. It is Blackstone punishing us for the face that it can no longer keep doing what it was doing before the rent laws changed this year. It is criminal, inhumane and indecent. But those three words pretty much describe Blackstone. I would like to see Schwarzberg be tried for his crimes against humanity throughout the world. That bastard belongs in jail. I have zero respect for his minions. His lying, smarmy, uncaring, slick, glib minions.
My impression, which will be proven by some photos, is that Management is curtailing certain things to make residents bitch that the new rent laws are too much. I don't think that heat is included in this "plan," but the heat problems are certainly recognized by Management. As I said, Blackstone is crying that they are basically "broke," (broke to help tenants) and they need the residents to bitch and bitch loudly. Even now, I bet Blackstone is figuring out how to apply for a MCI, so that tenants can pay some more. Watch those labels on doors, the intercom listing of tenants, the packages missing or misplaced, become a MCI or the entry of Oval Services (which cost money). Of course, our TA suggested that tenants should make their own labels!
>>His answer on the TA site was ridiculous. These are not individual problems. This heating issue is affecting many of us more and more. If he is reporting our complaints to management, it is not doing any good.<<
What day ye phony Peter Stuyvesant? How can this bogus organization call itself a tenant association when the major issues of name and directory removal and heat are ignored. This fraudulent bunch needs to disband immediately. Shameful.
There si NO peace in this place. THEY ARE ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING IN THIS PLACE. Please sell to another owner. I can't take living here anymore. Freezing in my apt by the way.Socks are on and it feels like I am still barefoot. NYCHA DUMP!!!
I will put my own label on my door if they remove the existing one. What is it with these idiots? This is harassment, pure and simple. If Powers ever wants to get re-elected, he'd better stop being a TA ass-kisser and start being a PAID elected representative. We are being royally fucked over by this vile fascist Nazi landlord and it has to stop.
Are these things they're doing to tenants legal? Removing directories, removing name plates, cutting RS and PS to the bone? I don't think they are actually within the law. We know that the denial of heat is against the law, but who do we turn to? I wish we could have a rent strike. Maybe if we had a tenants association that could be achieved. The group that calls itself a tenants association is no such thing. It is a total sham and is collecting money under false pretenses.
They have the resources to do stupid things (like removing name labels from doors - and which will be replaced by tenants themselves, but will not be pretty), but they don't have the resources to have a full complement of security officers and people working in RS. They have the resources for these lame-brained "events," but not enough for cleaning up all the dog piss and shit.
I wish they'd sell the property to a company that would run it properly. Blackstone is noted throughout the world for being he foulest and most abusive landlord on the face of the earth. Who was responsible for enabling the sale of the property to these opportunistic vermin? I would rather they brought back CWC and Compass Crock. I never thought any landlord could be worse, but Blackstone has proven me wrong. They certainly live up to their reputation.
Hayduk must have no personal morals or principles to work for such an outfit. I have absolutely no respect for the man. He absolutely disgusts me.
Why would anyone pay over 4K/mo. to live here? See if you can get a subletter and move out. You learned your lesson. Before you move anywhere else speak to other tenants. My advice: Get a few heaters and place them around the apt. Call 311 if all else fails. By next winter hopefully you'll be out.
STR, you've said that you wouldn't accept comments about certain people being wished dead. But...that is exactly Blackstone's wish for all non-transient residents. And they are doing everything possible to make that wish come true! Why is Steinberg complaining about name labels? I'd thought she supported ALL Blackstone policies, since she helps enable them.
A Stuyvesant Town celebrity actor family featured in The New York Times, with other actors, the tenant association, and New York State Attorney General back in the day when they were protecting invested market rate tenants was just in the news again with the loss of a high profile celebrity actor family member and yet no mention at all, no honor or tribute or condolence from the StuyTown property or tenant association.
Young Broadway actress Laurel Griggs suffered a fatal asthma attack while doing homework in her family’s Manhattan apartment — calling out to her father that she didn’t “feel so good,” kin said Sunday.
The 13-year-old — who debuted on Broadway at age 6 and had appearances on TV’s “Saturday Night Live” — started to feel unwell Tuesday evening as she worked on a homework assignment on her computer at her family’s Stuyvesant Town home, according to relatives.
Such a tragedy that happened in Stuy Town, and yes, absolutely no peep from our esteemed Rick. I doubted whether he had a conscience before, but now I know he absolutely does not. Now that his silence is being called out he will probably make a comment, and all the cheerleaders will praise him for saying something not realizing his statement is reactive to criticisms and not genuine.
Hopefully her allergy attack was not caused by environmental factors from living here, like mold or construction.
Again: THE HEATING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE THE SENSORS CANNOT WORK PROPERLY BECAUSE OLD, OBSOLETE TELEPHONE WIRE FROM WHO KNOWS WHEN IS USED TO CONNECT THE SENSORS.
AND BLACKSTONE ONLY "FIXES" THIS PROBLEM IN SOME BUILDINGS BECAUSE IT CANNOT BUDGET MONEY TO FIX IT FOR ALL OF ITS BUILDINGS.
Wow, so they are gonna get rid of all directories and nameplates in the name of privacy??? I guess Rick should probably call Jeff Bezos and tell him that Amazon can no longer deliver any packages here, because the labels on the packages contain private information and those packages are thrown all over the place for anyone and everyone to access.
And while Rick is obviously a pathological liar about the real reasons behind why management is doing this, to those people who claim that they have privacy concerns with the directories - you can’t order packages every other day that sit in the lobby for extended periods of time and the complain about your privacy. Can’t have it both ways!
>>Can you explain that please, STR? Went right over my head!<<
THE PRISONER summer TV show with Patrick McGoohan. I believe in the late 1960s. Repeated many times through the years. "I am not a number." He is Number 9 in the show. When I see some of the signs here, I am reminded of THE PRISONER. "Have a nice day."
As predicted: Rick sent out an email. Guess what? "Privacy concerns" are the reason now for the removal of tags everywhere. Front of your door, downstairs, etc. Yeah, residents really complained about privacy. Bullshit! There is no other word for that excuse.
And, get this. Yes, Oval Services was suggested by Rick. Quoting this email: "If you want to ensure safe package delivery, Oval Services provides this service for a nominal monthly fee."
I'm waiting for the cheerleaders to give Rick and Blackstone a thumbs up. I'm waiting for the TA to still want that seat at the table.
Rick thinks we are as stupid as he is dishonest. He told the TA the new policy was because it was too expensive to keep up with the labels for the ever-churning tenancy, then he tells us it's for safety and privacy. Bullshit! This is the same man who said it was ok for "security" to buzz in hoards of strangers on Haloween to go roaming the buildings, ringing doorbells to ask for whatever. He talks about "good neighbor" crap, but enforces NOTHING that makes people good neighbors. Now, we are not allowed to know who are neighbors are.
This is going to be very problematic for a lot of people and it is just to save them a few dollars on keeping the directories updated. Why not make it optional for people to not have their names in the directory or on the doors? I'm sure the students, Airbnb hosts and illegal sublets would be perfectly fine with that. I think that most of the long time tenants (the REAL tenants) would prefer the status quo.
Don't talk to us about privacy and safety, Rick. You are not fooling any of us. You are insulting us.
Stycha must be like Soviet Bloc housing was. Ugly, unheated, no names allowed and filled with cameras. Only difference is that the Stasi's cameras worked, ours don't.
Just want to give kudos to Resident Services and the engineer who visited my home in response to my heat complaint. They responded quickly and the engineer was helpful. Since he came, I have had adequate heat. Some of these workers are sympathetic to the plight of the tenants here. Don’t know if the heat will last, but at least I have had two days of pure toasty paradise.
Rick does not offer condolences when a teen resident dies. But he celebrates (privately) when an older person does, as long as that results in a vacancy. If a suicide causes a vacancy, he celebrates that, too. Harsh, but true.
I have little respect for Hayduk. He is a bs artist and uses that aspect of his personality to endear himself to older tenants. Some of these older tenants actually love his crap events and think that he is great. Very sad, because he cares nothing for the long time tenants. It is all a big act. I actually know people who organize get togethers a around his cheesy events like they are big social occasions. Maybe he can spread some of that heat from the s’more fire pit tonight into our apartments.
I sincerely believe that this removal of directories and nameplates is a result of the inability of this management to keep track of who lives here. There are so many transient apartments and dorms that they cannot keep up with who lives here. Very dangerous indeed.
How dare Hayduk put out that nonsense about removing directories due to privacy issues. He lied through his teeth. All buildings without doormen have directories. Everyone knows that he removed them because they have to be altered so much due to the transient crap demo here.
"Rick does not offer condolences when a teen resident dies. But he celebrates (privately) when an older person does, as long as that results in a vacancy. If a suicide causes a vacancy, he celebrates that, too. Harsh, but true."
I don't believe that is true at all. I think that is very nasty and over the line.
I know one of the people who was fired in the recent round of firings due to the new rent laws and the supposed money crunch facing Blackstone, and they told me that management definitely had immediate plans for rent stabilized apartments that vacated, but with the new rent laws their hands are tied and a rent stabilized vacate probably doesn’t create the same response as it used to.
"Hopefully her allergy attack was not caused by environmental factors from living here, like mold or construction. Or smokers. Second hand smoke has caused asthma attacks for my child. Management does nothing about it."
"Rick does not offer condolences when a teen resident dies. But he celebrates (privately) when an older person does, as long as that results in a vacancy. If a suicide causes a vacancy, he celebrates that, too. Harsh, but true."
Not a fan of conspiracy theories but this does seem rather odd that Blackstone has maintained radio silence. After all are we not a “community”?
Exactly! If they were able to come in and solve your problem that quickly it tells me one thing - they are in complete control of what is going on with the heat. They are playing with the levels of heat people are getting, and when someone complains they go in and can immediately increase that persons heat intake to make it look like they are saviors when in reality they knew what the problem was before they even went in.
I’d be curious to see how long this persons heat stays at a good level.
Short term boosting of the heat at least for that day. They can control it. Has been better today as well though not ideal. The guidelines are too low for complete comfort. Blackstone has set 62 at night and 70 during the day. Not high enough.
"I actually know people who organize get togethers a around his cheesy events like they are big social occasions."
That's not a bad thing for the older folk, but I think they would be better off if Rick worked on giving them adequate heat and adequate protection from the predators that roam this neighborhood, including on the property.
"I know one of the people who was fired in the recent round of firings due to the new rent laws and the supposed money crunch facing Blackstone, and they told me that management definitely had immediate plans for rent stabilized apartments that vacated, but with the new rent laws their hands are tied and a rent stabilized vacate probably doesn’t create the same response as it used to."
Sure they had immediate plans for any rent stabilized apartment that was vacated - they would gut it, put in all kinds of cheap glitz and low-end appliances, add a 20% bonus (plus some) to the rent as well as some ridiculous figure for the tacky "upgrade." Now they can only spruce up an apartment and give it a paint job and cannot increase the prior rent. Cry me a river. They would soon get it occupied because there are people who will jump at the opportunity to rent a rent stabilized apartment at a realistic rent.
"and they told me that management definitely had immediate plans for rent stabilized apartments that vacated, "
I am so tired of this. Again, again, ALL PCVST apartments are NYS RS. And after the HSTPA was passed, they will be forever unless that law is changed or REBNY/RSA wins their lawsuit. Facts matter. The issue is what happens to non-renovated apartments when they are vacated. Blackstone was called out on this when they were warehousing them and they have said that they are now renting them after some minimum restorations. The question; Is Blackstone doing this?
Ask someone who is paying $5000 a month if they believe they are rent stabilized. Then ask them to see their lease renewal and compare it to yours. The market rate tenants are not rent stabilized and do not see themselves as being rent stabilized. It’s nothing more than a formality that uses legal loopholes to make it seem like the entire property is rent stabilized.
The only TRUE rent stabilized apartments in this property are the ones that are not renovated. If you are tired of this it tells me that you are probably a part of the TA. They seem to be the only people who believe this property is all rent stabilized, regardless of rent being paid.
@12:06 PM: I think when we refer to "rent stabilized" we actually mean unrenovated, real RS apartments. Those $5k+ units are only rent stabilized in theory. The rents have been inflated to a level that nobody can afford them unless they have an EXTREMELY high salary (in which case, why rent here?!) or have three or four (or more) roommate living overpriced YMCA-style.
9:30 PM, 32 degrees outside (feels like 27 according to TV) and we have no fucking heat. Rick, Karma will get you and the diabolical scum who signs your paycheck and Karma will be real bitch.
"I am so tired of this. Again, again, ALL PCVST apartments are NYS RS."
Who cares what you are tired of. Most readers of this blog know we are referring to unrenovated apartments when we refer to rent stabilized. Go word-police somewhere else.
I have brown water coming out of bath tub faucets. What's up with that? I have been on hold with Resident Services and still no resolution. Anyone else with this issue? Help!
Moved out in August 2019 partner & me still no return of deposit. Has anyone had luck getting deposit back How who do we call who do we write No-one returns our cals at accounting.
Footsteps” or even “banging” for a short period of time during the daytime is considered to be reasonable.Additionally, noises that are loud but short in duration (items being dropped, etc) are also considered to be reasonable as they are expected in apartment living. Our quiet hours are 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM Sunday night through Friday morning and Midnight to 9:00 AM
tenants dropping tools and without carpets A=ok as long as it's after 7 am.
Who is 'policing' what Blackstone is actually doing with non-renovated/vacated apartments now? Answer: Nobody. 8:24: No former tenant EVER gets their deposit back after leaving. Who is 'policing' this? Answer: Nobody.
Last night was absolute frozen Hell. Heat went off at 9:30 PM and stayed off until early this morning (it's off again now). Would not have survived if not for space heaters. The sensor system is a monumental FAIL, as is Hayduk's attempts to convince us he is telling the truth. The man is a pathological liar!
I know tenants in apartments where the sensors are and they are freezing.
The heat guidelines are too low. 62 at night and 70 during the day and the heat is on for too short a time. Never gives the apartments a chance to warm up. They are cruel bastards.
Heat was on all day yesterday in my apartment. As soon as the sun went down, the heat went off for the rest of the night!!! Been off and on today and it's definitely cold and have space heater on. Karma is a hitch Blackstone!!!
Concerning security deposits, it is well-known that Blackstone does not return them, so the way to go is to not pay the last month's rent before you move out.
Went out this morning and saw a package I was expecting. Was in a hurry to get to work and didn’t have time to bring it to the apartment. Was stolen. Not there when I returned this afternoon. Would not be surprised if a resident or transient of the building took it.
No heat again tonight. This is tenant harassment. Hayduk and the goons he serves are no better than the goons that Jared Kushner and Michael Cohen used to hire to terrorize their tenants. I don't know what they hope to get out of it. Are they trying to make everyone leave so the buildings will be empty and then they can tear the project down? Is it pure sadism? We must all be using a hell of a lot more electricity because of the space heaters we are forced to use. I don't understand why they are doing this, but it all boils down to harassment. Is Keith Powers going to do anything about this or is he scared of losing his pay-offs from REBNY? The TA won't do anything because they don't want to lose their pay-offs from Powers!
Something's got to give and it will probably take a tragedy caused by these goons before the situation is addressed and those responsible have to be held accountable.
Yes, my apartment is freezing tonight. Although the bedroom is 68, it doesn’t feel like it. They know that legally we cannot complain to 311 unless it is below 62 at night. They also know that below 70 is not comfortable. As for Powers’ office, they talk a good game but do nothing. You can forget about the bogus non existent TA. I shudder(literally) to think of what December and January will bring. I dread coming home to this chilly apartment. Hayduk and company, have you no compassion. I guess not, as he keeps putting out e-mails lying about the heat situation.
Some of the cheerleaders have warm apartments. I wonder if good old Rick rewards them for their loyalty. Makes me sick that many of us have to suffer and they have heat.
I think Hayduk is just biding his time here and will be gone by the end of next year to take care of a new enterprise he is working on. They'll probably put another Liar-in-Chief in his place. Google him and see what comes up. Interesting stuff.
Are these bastards ever going to give us any heat tonight. 68 and dipping. What do we have to do to get decent heat, not just legal but comfortable. Cheap bastards.
Whoopdy do. A few of the cheerleaders have too much heat. Are you rewarding them for their loyalty Hayduk? All otherscomplaining on the TA blog, no recourse. As long as it is in the cold 60’s it is legal and they know it. Let these cheerleaders have no heat and let’s see how much they love living here. It is miserable to be cold.
As one of the posters on the TA site said, when you call they do boost the heat up but it is short term. The engineers’ hands are tied by management. They do offer short term help but then it gets cold again. They can control heat in individual apartments. This management is spiteful and greedy.
Comments have to await approval by the administrator of this blog to be published. Comments that insult another commentator, or that cross a line the administrator is not comfortable with, will not get approved.
The TA just sent out an email about names not being on lobby directories and apartment doors. The asses gave their phony president as an example of issues created. Instead of doing anything about it they tell residents to call management. Do something about the heat you fools. Disband! Disband! You are nothing TA.
ReplyDeleteThe TA is controlled by a bunch of spineless liars. The various "Peter Stuyvesants" are controlled by Management. What they get in return is debatable. Just ignore what they say because they have their own agenda. Honesty with tenants is not part of their agenda. You saw trees being cut down? How dare you say such a thing! Clearly, you were hallucinating!
ReplyDeleteThey are raving about the veteran ceremony already on the TA site. Phony cheerleaders. When I get some heat maybe I will mellow out. Right now their whole agenda disgusts me. It is phony.
ReplyDeleteLatest e-blast from the TA:
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed . .
ReplyDeleteWillfully blind TA willfully loses memory to agree with lying Black$tone's alternative facts.
ReplyDeleteWe received a TA email message Subject: "tenant unfriendly" tonight.
>>Latest e-blast from the TA:<<
ReplyDeleteI'm not a member of the TA now, so I don't get this blast.
ReplyDeleteSo Blackstone is admitting that there is churning and they can't handle it?
Folks, this is just Blackstone and Management being bitchy because of the new rent laws. Too much work to make labels indeed!
ReplyDelete"Tenants, if you find any of this unacceptable, particularly if you are concerned about your safety or that of a neighbor, please call Resident Services to register your displeasure. The number is (212) 420-5000."
ReplyDeleteWhy not "Just Call Rick" ???
What a joke. The nerve of that bogus TA telling residents to call management. I guess they gave up their”seat at the table.” On these 50 degree days we get absolutely no heat. This is outrageous.
DeleteYeah, call Rick!
ReplyDeleteLabel-gate. Tenants finally rise up because their landlord can't afford to make labels. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSTR, it is clearly not just new tenants because Steinberg's visitors couldn't find her name in the intercom.
ReplyDeleteI just can't believe they have sunk this low.
Yes, that one is a real winner. Obnoxious cheerleader.
Delete^^ I’m that stupid bitch. :) Grow up.
Delete>>Political correctness can go too far.<<
ReplyDeleteI'm getting a quick sense of that on the TA page recently. Total insanity!
ReplyDeleteSome of the idiots on the TA facebook are welcoming the "anonymity." What a bunch of total jerks.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is a result of the tremendous turnover of tenants and churning that goes on here. They no longer know or care who lives here anymore.
DeleteThis is management admitting they churn apartments constantly. In the old days, 'name labels' on doors and in lobbies would stay for decades as tenants usually only left this place horizontally. Now, management would probably need to assign a few full-time employees as 'Label Associates!' to keep up with the churn.
ReplyDeleteI've been here for 40 years and have seen this place deteriorate over time especially after MetLife sold the property.
DeleteSTR, I was just going to post exactly what you said, but you beat me to it!
ReplyDeleteAll of this indicates what a vile and vicious bunch of thugs now own this place. When you get condemned by the UN for being the worst landlord on the planet .... Well, that speaks for itself.
I WANT SOME FU*KIN' HEAT!
ReplyDeletePipes ice cold?!
My pipes have been ice cold for three days. The bastards love this weather. If it is over 55, they are not legally bound to give heat and they don’t . I pray for cold days do they have to give us some heat.
Delete"I'm not a member of the TA now, so I don't get this blast."
ReplyDeleteI haven't been a member of the TA for years. I continue to get their inane email blasts. I guess you're just lucky.
ReplyDeleteThey are dolts and nasty vindictive cheerleaders.
DeleteIf I had a dollar for every "wheelie" I see being rolled in by an AirbnB-er I'd have quite a pile of cash.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are all over, speaking foreign languages and checking their destination on phones. I believe some are two month tourists.
DeleteWhat happens if the EMT is called and they are not sure of the apartment to go to, but they do know the name of the patient? This is going to create a lot of problems (probably life-threatening) for many people. It may not be illegal, but it is the absolute epitome of contempt for tenants and disregard of our well-being and safety (not to mention convenience), and all to save a few dollars.
ReplyDeleteI probably shouldn't be surprised that a company that is headed by somebody who is destroying the Rain Forest has such a vindictive policy.
ReplyDeleteThis really is the proverbial "straw." No heat, no Security, no RS, no maintenance and now this!
ReplyDeleteEvery day in every way Blackstone shows what a vile landlord it is and Hayduk shows what an asshole he is.
ReplyDeleteSomething that speaks volumes about Rick Hayduk and his style of "management" is the fact that in every lobby there are two holders of glossy pamphlets. One is filled with pamphlets advertising "The Ice" and the other advertises the events of the month. Meantime, he is having directories of tenants' names and apartment numbers removed.
ReplyDeleteGo run a hotel, Rick, and leave us alone! Surely, Blackstone could find a competent residential property manager?
They don’t want to find a competent one. Hayduk is their guy. Does their dirty work.
DeleteSlimy Shameless Susan Steinberg was seen trolling for $50 memberships to the bogus Tenants Association by the new Veterans Memorial statue.
ReplyDeleteHave you no shame, Susan?
Ever hear of the concept self-respect?
The response "Just Call Rick" to all resident concerns just doesn't work anymore.
How about opening up the books to your possibly corrupt and probably criminal organization.
A fraud, a real fraud!
"Slimy Shameless Susan Steinberg was seen trolling for $50 memberships to the bogus Tenants Association by the new Veterans Memorial statue."
ReplyDeleteSorry for all the crap that the TA has become (and it's a lot), I think this accusation is bogus.
ReplyDeleteLeaving tenants' names off the intercom directory is the most lame brained idea that Rick has come up with.
Thank you, Rick. Please leave soon.
For the umpteenth time, you will NEVER get a decent property manager here. Hayduk follows Blackstone‘s agenda. Anything he does is endorsed by his evil bosses. Please stop thinking that he can be replaced by someone decent.
DeleteIt amazes me that people keep blaming Rick as if he's acting independently of Blackstone.
ReplyDeleteI agree.Although he is a slick hypocrite, he does not call the shots here.
DeleteRick is running this property exactly how Blackstone wants it run - as a transient resort. They have done absolutely nothing to show that they have plans of creating a stable community, so people need to get it out of their heads that Rick needs to be fired.
ReplyDeleteRick has done an excellent job in creating a resort, which is exactly what Blackstone wants.
I agree somewhat but cannot call this dump a resort. It is far from a resort.
DeleteResorts are pretty and luxurious. This is far from a resort. More like a slum.
DeleteHeard on the news today that Campos Plaza will not be getting heat and hot water today because of repairs to the system. Hey, Campos Residents! Now you know what it's like living in Stuyvesant Town EVERYDAY!
ReplyDeleteIt is forty degrees and these bastards still are limiting the heat. My bedroom is 68.
ReplyDeleteFor the umpteenth time, you will NEVER get a decent property manager here. Hayduk follows Blackstone‘s agenda. Anything he does is endorsed by his evil bosses. Please stop thinking that he can be replaced by someone decent.
ReplyDeleteSO LONG AS HAYDUK IS THE FACE OF AND REPRESENTATIVE OF BLACKSTONE, HE IS THE SATANIC SERVANT WILL WE GO AFTER.
Just don’t think you will EVER get a decent replacement for him.
DeleteThese idiot cheerleaders who are crowing over the new Veterans Monument and other Blackstone crap must have heat in their apartments.
ReplyDeleteWe are so fortunate to have our heroic duo advocating for us:
ReplyDeleteRick the Dick and Slimy Shameless Susan
What a pair!
A disgusting situation here.

ReplyDeleteIf EMS cannot locate a tenant because of this insane policy and someone dies or their treatment results in further damage due to delays it will make a very good lawsuit - take note.
As far as diminished services perhaps a class action lawsuit should be considered.
This is what the TA should be doing on a number of issues.
Delete"The TA just sent out an email about names not being on lobby directories and apartment doors. The asses gave their phony president as an example of issues created."
ReplyDeletewait. WHAAAATT?!? this is...just bizarre. are we all in some kind of witness protection program?? all 30,000 of us would be in danger if...our names should be listed on our apartment doors??
ReplyDeleteBut you will never hear about because Blackstone, with it billions, will settle with NDAs signed all round. Remember the woman who was assaulted at playground three where the caught the guy?
Nothing.
What TA? If there was a tenants association here I would join it in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteHeat?
ReplyDeleteWhat's heat?
It something that even the Projects have.
Stuy Town?
Nah!
What should I do?
Call 311? Call Resident Services? Call the Buildings Department?
Nope!
I just asked Susan Steinberg and she said those magic three words:
"JUST CALL RICK!"
Now why didn't I think of that?
I called RS today to protest the removal of the directories in the lobbies and on the intercoms. The answer I got was that it was done for security purposes and that some people don't like their names listed. I was also told that new tenants are given the option of having their name on their door.
ReplyDeleteSecurity my ARSE! This is nickeling and dimeing us to death. Lazy, greedy bastards.
It was done because they cannot keep track of the transient flow in and out. The turnover is out of control. When you have a property full of dorms, Airbnb, and tourists it becomes out of control.
DeleteCOLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEARS SO FAR AND WE HAVE NO FUCKING HEAT.
ReplyDeleteWake up again this morning to a freezing apartment. Bastards.
DeleteWhat a terrible state of things in this dorm dump that you have to worry about whether or not you will have adequate heat when you return to your apartment on this freezing cold night. Your workplace is warm and the bus is warm. You do not know what awaits you in the apartment you pay rent on. Shame on you Hayduk and your bastard bosses for putting us through this.
ReplyDelete11PM and heat has been off a hour. They need to have it on constantly on frigid days like today. Now we will wake up to a cold apartment. So tired of their sick games of heat deprivation.
ReplyDeleteSay hello to SATAN:

I agree
DeletePipes ICE COLD this morning.
ReplyDeleteOur councilman’s office does nothing to assist us against Blackstone. They do not respond to e-mails. Totally useless. They will not confront Blackstone on heat or other critical quality of life issues here.
ReplyDeleteHave to love the way all these TA posters say to get Powers involved. He does absolutely nothing to assist us against Blackstone.
ReplyDelete>>This part of the comment is blatantly anti-Semitic and should not have been allowed to be posted on your blog at all.<<
ReplyDeleteI considered the post for a moment.

ReplyDeleteComing from Vallone Associates, I sort of expected this. I did not know he would be this bad. He makes Dan Garodnick look like Michael McKee.
Older Jewish lawyers had to fight to overcome prejudice and misogyny as well as financial hardship to get into law school and when they did get into law school, they gave it their best! I'd love to have Ruth Bader Ginsberg in my corner! She is my hero!

ReplyDeleteThere is zero intent on my part to insult any nationality.

ReplyDeleteContinuing... What of "happy ending" massages? I am sure that you can find different nationalities doing that work, but the Chinese have a market here predominantly. Or else the cops are continually busting the wrong ethnicity.

Delete"Continuing... What of "happy ending" massages? I am sure that you can find different nationalities doing that work, but the Chinese have a market here predominantly. Or else the cops are continually busting the wrong ethnicity."
ReplyDeleteAgain, let's see what the ADL has to say. Yes?
If you’re against the removal of residents names from our video intercom systems, please email Rick Hayduk and tell him. If he hears from enough tenants MAYBE it will get him to relent and restore our names. What he has done is not only dumb, it’s dangerous.
ReplyDeleteRick.Hayduk@stuytown.com
ReplyDeleteI worked for a Jewish law firm for years and totally admired the way they took their profession ethics so seriously.
Delete>>STR, I have provided full context and sent the posts to the ADL for their opinion. I am hoping that you will let post what they have to say, whether its for or against my POV.<<
ReplyDeleteSure I will post it!
>>I don 't think there was anything anti-semitic in the post about old Jewish lawyers, etc.<<
ReplyDeleteThis is a true story because it happened to me....
It is a stereotype.
Delete>>And referring back to Jackie Mason is really not a good comeback option today. He was, like many, a man of his time. BTW, is the term “colored people” acceptable to use today?<<
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many people are closer to Jackie's age than the twenty-somethings here? "Colored people" is not acceptable term these days because there are much noise in eliminating certain terms. But it was used, without malice, back in the day.
4:07 PM here. Sorry, I misread the original comment. I somehow read "Jewish lawyers" rather than Jewish New Yorkers.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies.
ReplyDelete*Who knows what else is not an ethnic label. It's me thinking out loud.
With all this talk about Jewish attorneys have a laugh:
ReplyDeleteA woman on a train walked up to a man across the table. “Excuse me,” she said, “but are you Jewish?”
“No,” replied the man.
A few minutes later the woman returned. “Excuse me,” she said again, “are you sure you’re not Jewish?”
“I’m sure,” said the man.
But the woman was not convinced, and a few minutes later she approached him a third time. “Are you absolutely sure you’re not Jewish?” she asked.
“All right, all right,” the man said. “You win. I’m Jewish.”
“That’s funny,” said the woman.” You don’t look Jewish.”
>>It is a stereotype.<<
ReplyDeleteYes, but depending on what it is, a stereotype can be a generality that has some truth in it.
>>Talk of these ethnicities is stereotypical and on the fringe of bias.<<
ReplyDeleteCan one talk about ethnicities?
Yes, sorry about when people make statements about a religion or group like that poster did, I see that they are biased . Maybe not meant in a mean spirit but almost rationalizing that the group is different.
ReplyDeleteAn elderly Jewish New Yorker would look at this thread and say "Feh!" "Schmegegges." Then look at Rick and say "Oy. What a Putz."
ReplyDeleteLotta wisdom in that demo! ;-)
NEWS YOU CAN USE:
ReplyDeleteTwo talks lately with those in the know here.
No, I cannot give details or name names. Not yet.
Yeah, HEAT!
ReplyDeleteCan we get back to what really matters around here??
I agree somewhat, but just complaining about the heat situation is doing nothing. After a miserable cold night, the heat came on at 4 AM. It is at minimum legal level. Cannot call 311 as I intended to. They are crafty and devious. Still no answer to my e-mail to Powers’ office. Tenants are suffering here.
Delete" see no insult or antisemitism in what the OP said. The quintessential savvy of the generational New Yorker is often quite different from the way the newbies view things. And the Jews have a unique sense of humor."
ReplyDeleteI am the one who first said it was not cool. And I am a native New Yorker, born, raised and still living in Stuyvesant Town. BTW, I have seen Henny Youngman, Dennis Wolfberg and Rodney Dangerfield at shows several times.
Nice of you to speak for Jewish people.
Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Just go look at the TA facebook page. So many people with no heat and cannot get RS to even pick up the phone!
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be an expose about this place.
ReplyDeleteI've never lived on such a badly managed substandard property (which they charge ridiculous rents for!) It's no wonder they have such a constant turnover. Who could make this substandard place home? I think if it had a manager who cared and who engaged employees who cared, it could be a lovely place to live. The grounds and all the trees and greenery are lovely. But the apartments are ice chests and the management is abysmal!
"Can one talk about ethnicities?"
ReplyDeleteApparently not.
This thread was hijacked by PC.
Last night was the coldest night yet. 65 in my bedroom. According to the TA site, this lack of heat was widespread. Heat came back at 4 AM . Conveniently so that when RS opens, everyone has heat

Just shameful especially for hiding behind the cloak of anonymity<<
ReplyDeleteI am fully aware of what Jews went through in the States and elsewhere, and are going through now.
ReplyDeleteI hope to do a front page post on this soon. This decision, coupled with a reasoning that Blackstone is broke, is insane. The decision may change, though. Wait a week and we shall see.
Can anyone please advise me?
ReplyDeleteI am paying over 4 grand a month and there is no heat?
How is this possible? Calls to management get me nowhere.
What a mistake moving here.
I wish I could give advice other than call 311. I too am frustrated with the second year of these heat problems. I froze last night and they continue to get away with it. We get no help from our councilman or nonexistent TA. I am a long time tenant and living here used to be great. Sorry you made that mistake of moving here.
DeleteKeith Powers, formerly of the Tenants Association board, is as phony and corrupt as Susan Steinberg.
ReplyDeleteHis answer on the TA site was ridiculous. These are not individual problems. This heating issue is affecting many of us more and more. If he is reporting our complaints to management, it is not doing any good.
DeleteWhy is my apt freezing? Why does it take 45 minutes to reach resident services? Why are there piles of shit, shit stains, and piss stains all over the property (and occasionally in the hallways and elevators)? Exactly what is the Stuyvesant Town Peter cooper Village Tenants Association doing about all of this? Why did the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association allow Blackstone into our lives in the first place when we had an opportunity to take control of the property ourselves? Why.......
ReplyDeleteI find it very offensive the way posts here refer to the manager of the property. Pronouns are being used without consulting with the individual as to which to use. Be respectful and inquire what pronoun to use in the future. Here is a partial list for the uneducated.
ReplyDeleteHe, She, It, They, Ne, Ve, Spivak, Ze (or zie), Ze (or zie) and zir, and Xe.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many people complaining on the TA and the Tenants facebook pages about having no heat.
ReplyDeleteThis withholding of heat is deliberate and calculated.
ReplyDeleteMy place is sweltering. So bloody hot. Why is this happening.
ReplyDeleteAren’t you the lucky one. Open the windows and don’t complain.
Delete>>His answer on the TA site was ridiculous. These are not individual problems. This heating issue is affecting many of us more and more. If he is reporting our complaints to management, it is not doing any good.<<
ReplyDeletePowers tends to speak with forked tongue.
Let's see... "Call Rick!" "Call Security!" "Call Resident Services!" "Call Powers!" Have I missed anyone?
ReplyDeleteYes, call 311
DeleteCall Ghostbusters!!!
DeleteI spoke to a RS Rep, and she said the name labels are going to be removed from all apartment doors as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat day ye phony Peter Stuyvesant? How can this bogus organization call itself a tenant association when the major issues of name and directory removal and heat are ignored. This fraudulent bunch needs to disband immediately. Shameful.
DeleteThere si NO peace in this place. THEY ARE ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING IN THIS PLACE. Please sell to another owner. I can't take living here anymore. Freezing in my apt by the way.Socks are on and it feels like I am still barefoot. NYCHA DUMP!!!
ReplyDelete>>I spoke to a RS Rep, and she said the name labels are going to be removed from all apartment doors as well.<<
ReplyDeleteSplendid! The conversion to the Village proceeds. Doors on the first floor: Number 1, Number Two, etc. Of course, I want Number 9.
ReplyDeleteAre these things they're doing to tenants legal? Removing directories, removing name plates, cutting RS and PS to the bone? I don't think they are actually within the law. We know that the denial of heat is against the law, but who do we turn to? I wish we could have a rent strike. Maybe if we had a tenants association that could be achieved. The group that calls itself a tenants association is no such thing. It is a total sham and is collecting money under false pretenses.
ReplyDeleteThey have the resources to do stupid things (like removing name labels from doors - and which will be replaced by tenants themselves, but will not be pretty), but they don't have the resources to have a full complement of security officers and people working in RS. They have the resources for these lame-brained "events," but not enough for cleaning up all the dog piss and shit.
ReplyDeleteI wish they'd sell the property to a company that would run it properly.
"Splendid! The conversion to the Village proceeds. Doors on the first floor: Number 1, Number Two, etc. Of course, I want Number 9."
ReplyDeleteCan you explain that please, STR? Went right over my head!
To: 11/14/19
ReplyDeleteWhy would anyone pay over 4K/mo. to live here? See if you can get a subletter and move out. You learned your lesson. Before you move anywhere else speak to other tenants.
My advice: Get a few heaters and place them around the apt. Call 311 if all else fails. By next winter hopefully you'll be out.
STR, you've said that you wouldn't accept comments about certain people being wished dead. But...that is exactly Blackstone's wish for all non-transient residents. And they are doing everything possible to make that wish come true! Why is Steinberg complaining about name labels? I'd thought she supported ALL Blackstone policies, since she helps enable them.

ReplyDeleteA Stuyvesant Town celebrity actor family featured in The New York Times, with other actors, the tenant association, and New York State Attorney General back in the day when they were protecting invested market rate tenants was just in the news again with the loss of a high profile celebrity actor family member and yet no mention at all, no honor or tribute or condolence from the StuyTown property or tenant association.

DeleteHopefully her allergy attack was not caused by environmental factors from living here, like mold or construction.
Wish that cheerleader would shut up about the heat issue. She makes me sick with her commentary.
ReplyDeleteIf Rick Hayduk was as good a property manager as he is a liar and a bullshit artist, this place would hum along and everybody would be happy!
ReplyDeleteAgain: THE HEATING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE THE SENSORS CANNOT WORK PROPERLY BECAUSE OLD, OBSOLETE TELEPHONE WIRE FROM WHO KNOWS WHEN IS USED TO CONNECT THE SENSORS.
ReplyDeleteAND BLACKSTONE ONLY "FIXES" THIS PROBLEM IN SOME BUILDINGS BECAUSE IT CANNOT BUDGET MONEY TO FIX IT FOR ALL OF ITS BUILDINGS.
ReplyDeleteAnd while Rick is obviously a pathological liar about the real reasons behind why management is doing this, to those people who claim that they have privacy concerns with the directories - you can’t order packages every other day that sit in the lobby for extended periods of time and the complain about your privacy. Can’t have it both ways!

ReplyDeleteTHE PRISONER summer TV show with Patrick McGoohan. I believe in the late 1960s. Repeated many times through the years. "I am not a number." He is Number 9 in the show. When I see some of the signs here, I am reminded of THE PRISONER. "Have a nice day."
LOL. I must be fixated on the Beatles song! McGoohan is Number Six.
ReplyDelete5 21 you cannot just walk into any building in nyc and speak to tenants. Get serious.

WE WILL ORGANIZE IT and THEN PUT IT INTO EFFECT.
As predicted: Rick sent out an email. Guess what? "Privacy concerns" are the reason now for the removal of tags everywhere. Front of your door, downstairs, etc. Yeah, residents really complained about privacy. Bullshit! There is no other word for that excuse.
ReplyDeleteAnd, get this.
Hopefully her allergy attack was not caused by environmental factors from living here, like mold or construction.
ReplyDeleteOr smokers. Second hand smoke has caused asthma attacks for my child. Management does nothing about it.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be very problematic for a lot of people and it is just to save them a few dollars on keeping the directories updated.
ReplyDeleteJust want to give kudos to Resident Services and the engineer who visited my home in response to my heat complaint. They responded quickly and the engineer was helpful. Since he came, I have had adequate heat. Some of these workers are sympathetic to the plight of the tenants here. Don’t know if the heat will last, but at least I have had two days of pure toasty paradise.
ReplyDeleteRick does not offer condolences when a teen resident dies. But he celebrates (privately) when an older person does, as long as that results in a vacancy. If a suicide causes a vacancy, he celebrates that, too. Harsh, but true.
ReplyDeleteI have little respect for Hayduk.
DeleteI sincerely believe that this removal of directories and nameplates is a result of the inability of this management to keep track of who lives here. There are so many transient apartments and dorms that they cannot keep up with who lives here. Very dangerous indeed.
ReplyDeleteHow dare Hayduk put out that nonsense about removing directories due to privacy issues. He lied through his teeth. All buildings without doormen have directories. Everyone knows that he removed them because they have to be altered so much due to the transient crap demo here.
ReplyDelete"Rick does not offer condolences when a teen resident dies. But he celebrates (privately) when an older person does, as long as that results in a vacancy. If a suicide causes a vacancy, he celebrates that, too. Harsh, but true."
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that is true at all.

Not a fan of conspiracy theories but this does seem rather odd that Blackstone has maintained radio silence. After all are we not a “community”?
"They responded quickly and the engineer was helpful. "
ReplyDeleteWhat was their solution? Thanks.
DeleteI’d be curious to see how long this persons heat stays at a good level.
Short term boosting of the heat at least for that day. They can control it. Has been better today as well though not ideal. The guidelines are too low for complete comfort. Blackstone has set 62 at night and 70 during the day. Not high enough.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Griggs family asked for privacy.
ReplyDelete"I actually know people who organize get togethers a around his cheesy events like they are big social occasions."
ReplyDeleteThat's not a bad thing for the older folk, but I think they would be better off if Rick worked on giving them adequate heat and adequate protection from the predators that roam this neighborhood, including on the property.
Bros and chiefs disturbing the peace at 11:30 PM . Coming through the dump in their drunken revelry. Typical Friday night in the Dorm Dump.
ReplyDeleteRick is the one who is "very nasty" (at heart). Only pretends to be a Good Guy. Evil personified.
ReplyDelete"Bros and chiefs disturbing the peace at 11:30 PM . Coming through the dump in their drunken revelry. Typical Friday night in the Dorm Dump."
ReplyDeleteYup, I heard 'em, but not at 11:30 PM (that's early!), but at around 2 AM. Par for the course in this Dorm Dump with no Security.
ReplyDeleteSure they had immediate plans for any rent stabilized apartment that was vacated - they would gut it, put in all kinds of cheap glitz and low-end appliances, add a 20% bonus (plus some) to the rent as well as some ridiculous figure for the tacky "upgrade." Now they can only spruce up an apartment and give it a paint job and cannot increase the prior rent. Cry me a river. They would soon get it occupied because there are people who will jump at the opportunity to rent a rent stabilized apartment at a realistic rent.
"and they told me that management definitely had immediate plans for rent stabilized apartments that vacated, "
ReplyDeleteI am so tired of this.
DeleteThe only TRUE rent stabilized apartments in this property are the ones that are not renovated. If you are tired of this it tells me that you are probably a part of the TA. They seem to be the only people who believe this property is all rent stabilized, regardless of rent being paid.
Well said 7:07. So true.
DeleteYes, definitely active in the TA. We do not need these semantic corrections to know what is going on.
Delete@12:06 PM: I think when we refer to "rent stabilized" we actually mean unrenovated, real RS apartments. Those $5k+ units are only rent stabilized in theory. The rents have been inflated to a level that nobody can afford them unless they have an EXTREMELY high salary (in which case, why rent here?!) or have three or four (or more) roommate living overpriced YMCA-style.
ReplyDeletePuke in the elevator.
ReplyDeleteGuess the bros did too much partying.
9:30 PM, 32 degrees outside (feels like 27 according to TV) and we have no fucking heat. Rick, Karma will get you and the diabolical scum who signs your paycheck and Karma will be real bitch.
ReplyDelete"I am so tired of this. Again, again, ALL PCVST apartments are NYS RS."
ReplyDeleteWho cares what you are tired of. Most readers of this blog know we are referring to unrenovated apartments when we refer to rent stabilized. Go word-police somewhere else.
I have brown water coming out of bath tub faucets.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with that?
I have been on hold with Resident Services and still no resolution.
Anyone else with this issue?
Help!
We have had occasional brown water here for years. Never a viable explanation. Hopefully it is not harmful.

tenants dropping tools and without carpets A=ok as long as it's after 7 am.
Who is 'policing' what Blackstone is actually doing with non-renovated/vacated apartments now?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: Nobody.
ReplyDeleteI know tenants in apartments where the sensors are and they are freezing.
The heat guidelines are too low. 62 at night and 70 during the day and the heat is on for too short a time. Never gives the apartments a chance to warm up. They are cruel bastards.
ReplyDeleteHeat was on all day yesterday in my apartment. As soon as the sun went down, the heat went off for the rest of the night!!! Been off and on today and it's definitely cold and have space heater on. Karma is a hitch Blackstone!!!
ReplyDeleteCold in my apartment too but reading is 69, above legal guideline. They give borderline heart to get away with it.
DeleteConcerning security deposits, it is well-known that Blackstone does not return them, so the way to go is to not pay the last month's rent before you move out.
ReplyDeleteWent out this morning and saw a package I was expecting. Was in a hurry to get to work and didn’t have time to bring it to the apartment. Was stolen. Not there when I returned this afternoon. Would not be surprised if a resident or transient of the building took it.
ReplyDeleteI have brown water coming out of bath tub faucets.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with that?
We’ve all had that. For decades. You mean, the nice rep in the Leasing office didn't tell you about it? I’m shocked!
I guess they didn’t tell you about limits on heat either.
DeleteNo heat again tonight.
ReplyDeleteSomething's got to give and it will probably take a tragedy caused by these goons before the situation is addressed and those responsible have to be held accountable.
ReplyDeleteSome of the cheerleaders have warm apartments. I wonder if good old Rick rewards them for their loyalty. Makes me sick that many of us have to suffer and they have heat.
ReplyDeleteI think Hayduk is just biding his time here and will be gone by the end of next year to take care of a new enterprise he is working on. They'll probably put another Liar-in-Chief in his place. Google him and see what comes up. Interesting stuff.
ReplyDeleteAre these bastards ever going to give us any heat tonight. 68 and dipping. What do we have to do to get decent heat, not just legal but comfortable. Cheap bastards.
ReplyDeleteWhoopdy do.
ReplyDeleteAs one of the posters on the TA site said, when you call they do boost the heat up but it is short term. The engineers’ hands are tied by management. They do offer short term help but then it gets cold again. They can control heat in individual apartments. This management is spiteful and greedy.
ReplyDelete62-68 degrees. Inhuman in a private housing development.
ReplyDeletewhich city agency do we then contact to sue this landlord for deposit fund return???????? This is disgraceful.
ReplyDelete
