Thank You Adam Rose, Maya Autret and Joyride for Once Again Ruining a Stuy Town Weekend

That months-old caption from Town & Village is now particularly ironic and cruel.

Saturday. Stuyvesant Town. The Oval. The damn Joyride truck. Not hooked up to electric. The hum from hell is being heard all over the Oval. Lord knows about the fumes. No place in the Oval area to sit down and relax and not hear that hum. I wonder if Adam and Maya have a perpetual hum where they live? Thanks, guys, for taking residents' peace and quiet seriously.

What a dump.

Oh, and let's not forget the Yelp comment page for Joyride:

Yelp comment page for Joyride Trucks.

(BTW, the Stuy Town negative reviews on Yelp have been bounced to "filtered reviews." You can still read them going through a link, but they do not count now in the overall ratings for Joyride. So I guess the moral of this lesson is that one shouldn't mention Stuyvesant Town in the review or anything to do with the noise and pollution their truck causes in this residential community.)

  1. I wonder if Adam Rose is deliberately trying to lower the value of the property so it can be sold off cheap in a "fire sale?" He's certainly not doing anything to enhance the value of the property.

  2. In 20 years ST and PCV will be NYU dorms. They're the only group who have a realistic business model that could actually make a profit.

    Mark my words.

Can't we get a class action law suit going?

Where the hell is The Tenant's Association????

  4. Joyride: The best commercial rent in town!

Anchored all day, every day, on busy private walkway.
Free rent and electric. A personal staff to clean space before and after. No A,B,C or F ratings from city inspectors. Over priced gourmet goodies.

I'm applying for a food truck license today!

  5. The Tenants Association are busy trying to figure out how to get postage stamps on the email.

  6. Well, they didn't have free electric today. Unfortunately.

  7. The Tenants Association is "fighting" to keep trunk storage rooms that most people never knew about. And relying on STR and Lux Living to get their word out and keep some dialogue going. And asking for money.
    WTG all of today's commenters.

  8. I think that the Tenants' Association really doesn't involve itself with QOL issues, but it does good work in the legal department concerning outrageous MCIs and the like. They can't be all things to all people and in fairness, I think they do work "backstage" that we only get to appreciate later. Don't diss them too much because they are a volunteer organization and they concentrate on doing what they can do effectively. They have fought and won many a battle that has saved us from inappropriate and onerous rent increases. I think we should try to work with them and be a little more supportive of their efforts. They are limited in their power to address all the annoying and stupid gimmicks that Rose foists on us, but they are quite good at fighting extraneous and burdensome charges for the so-called "improvements" that Rose and it's despicable predecessors, the much hated Tishman Speyer (spit spit) try to dump on us.

  10. You can vent all you want on this site. Rose does not care.

These trucks violate the zoning regulations. Write to the NYC Department of buildings, the agency responsible for zoning enforcement.

Deputy Commissioner, Regulatory Policy and Enforcement
New York City Department of Buildings
    280 Broadway, 3rd Floor
    New York, NY 10007

Make the same complaint to our elected officials and ask them to complain to and pressure the Buildings Department as well.

  11. Would you please explain exactly how the Joyride truck ruined your weekend? For those of us who did not make it over to the Oval, in what ways did it interrupt your otherwise nice Saturday?

  12. I couldn't sit at the Oval with the hum from hell interrupting my thoughts or my reading.

  14. I, for one, enjoy the fumes...

  15. All commerical actvity in the interior of Stuyvesant Town is in violation of the NYC Zoning laws.

Read it and weep Adam Rose:

    http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/pdf/zone/map12c.pdf

    File your citizens complaint:

    NYC Dept of Buildings
    280 Broadway, 3rd Fl.
    New York, NY 10007
    Borough Commissioner: (212) 566-0011 & (212) 566-0019

Perhaps now we will get some sleep.

  16. I called the number listed for the DOB above and was told by a very rude (what a surprise) city employee that you cant call that number to register your complaint. She said to call 311. Of course she is totally wrong and you should be able to call the department directly but if you do be prepared for some real rude treatment at the hands of the Department of Buildings employees. I wonder if the bribes by the coalition of landlords in NYC get that far down the ladder that even the lowest employee gets something and thus will do all they can to deflect complaints from the residents and taxpayers who actually pay their salaries.

  17. Don't call the buildings department first - write to them with your complaint. Send it by certified mail and track when they received it. Then start calling. Call the Commissioner's office, call the General Counsel's Office, call the Deputy for enforcement and, probably most importantly, call your elected officials and demand an answer, and action. Deluge them with letters and calls.
