The Carnival Comes to Town!

Today saw Family Carnival arrive to the Oval! We had a circus before, so why not a carnival? Actually, it seemed a nice affair for kids and parents. I expected more crowds, but since families are in the decrease here, with single Urban Young Professionals and students becoming more the norm, it's understandable that one wouldn't see as many families as probably would have been present even ten years ago. Music was playing, but not blasting throughout the Oval. The food offered was something First Lady Michelle Obama would not approve off, however--sugary and fatty.

Of course this is one more event to be used to sell the place to prospective tenants. (Warning signs about filming were placed about the Oval.) The positive element: At least such a promo will be directed at people with families, something Stuy Town needs to see an increase in.

  1. Residential complex. Not a carnival venue. Stupid, inconsiderate, more bs from the lying side-show freak Adam Rose, his clowns and Maya, his marionette.

So that means you disapprove? ;-)

  3. Open space with plenty of room to run around, lots of playgrounds—and kids still need to be entertained?

  4. I think the idea was to do a taping to use in the promotion of the property to potential renters. So, it's not really about the kids, it's about renting out apartments. The big difference here is that the promotion is geared for families.

  5. Forget the motive behind it.
It was a nice day, and the kids had fun.
My kids are all grown and it a very nice thing to see young kids and their parents enjoying such a nice day together.
If Rose was using the "carnival" as a promotional event, who was their target audience?
It was young families, and certainly not transient students.
So lets give Rose a thumbs up on this one.

  6. Sadly, Rose only rents to students and transients. If they want to attract families, they should get rid of the dorms.

  7. Money would be better spent on building cleanliness and maintenance. The place is getting to be a slum inside as well as outside.

  8. Totally unrelated but need advice. The washing machines in my building (400 East 20th) have had 2 broken for months, and another one broke yesterday. Stuy Town does nothing since its Mac Gray's issue - I have called them and written emails. Does anyone have any advice how to resolve this issue and does stuy town have any responsibility? I apolgize for hijacking this topic but desperate to get laundry done! Many thanks.

  9. Well, management SHOULD get on Mac Gray's case. Otherwise, I don't know what you can do, but keep on plugging away. Perhaps Mac Gray has some administrative contact you can complain to.

  10. Does anyone know if it's ok for Rose to raise rent 7-10%? What happened to 3%? It's clear why the community is so transient. They are definitely trying to push me out to make room for more students.

  11. Go the the Laundry View on the tenants' website. You can report broken machines from there. They usually fix them then.

  12. You have to call 1 800 Mac Gray and report them. I have found this is the fastest way to get them fixed. Most importantly do not assume someone else has called it in already because people dont.

  13. Off-topic, but very reflective of our stinky "management," if anybody wants to see a real fire hazard go look at the recycling area of 445 E. 14. Cardboard boxes from floor to ceiling. God help us if some asshole were to drop a lighted cigaret in the area. What a vile dump this has become since the blood-sucking TS and Rose got their filthy paws on it.

  14. Rose has to get its act together on these recycling and terrace floor dumping rooms. Really, some of them seem to be clear fire hazards with all the material piled up in them.

  15. Rose needs to get its act together regarding what kind of substandard tenant they are renting to. With noise and filth proliferating, it is a sad reflection on what kind of half-assed people run this place.

  16. Rose is in it just for the $$$$$.

  17. If Rose ASS. wont clean up vomit that has been on the stoop at the entrance to a building for over 2 months now, what makes anyone think they give a crap about ANYTHING??????

  18. Oh that's right. The alleged super vomit that even torrential rain and hurricanes won't wash away.

  19. Kid must've been drinking paint!

  20. Alleged would mean it isn't true, but it is. It is still on the stoop for all to see. Get off your ..../computer and go for a walk. You'll discover all kinds of things that you wont see on your monitor or your i-pad or pod or whatever other electronic gadget you use to avoid contact with actual people and places.
