Another MCI Coming...for Girl Watching???

Reports from the TA indicate that another MCI is coming, this time for the "TV/Security System and Video Command Center."  Now is this the same Video Command Center that has proven useless to prevent any crime that occurs here, discouraged true crime prevention in putting boots on the ground, and that we found out a couple of years ago "monitors" the bathing beauties at the Oval Lawn during the summer to the delight of Public Safety?  Are tenants suppose to be paying for this???

UPDATE: I have to stress how outrageous is this MCI.  This Video Command Center has never been proven to deter crime.  In fact, there have been numerous recent reports of bicycles and mail/UPS packages being stolen, and I've yet to hear of the Video Command Center finding out who these culprits are. The only benefit these cameras have is that they take a photo (a hazy one at that) of a perpetrator if he is in the vestibule or elevator. But this is after the fact. The crime isn't stopped. On top of that, residents who used to go the management office were able to see just what is being looked at by the security staff: SpongeBob SquarePaints, Craig's List and, the hot show, Stuy Town girls in bikinis and micro-skirts and shorts.  Plain and simple, tenants should not be paying for a useless, and misused, Video Command Center.

  1. Same video command center that got swept away in Hurricane Sandy. If this goes through, we'll be paying in perpetuity for something that didn't even get close to reaching its natural life. Talk about scam.

  2. What happened to Sponge Bob? I thought that was their fave!

  3. We live in ST. Our MCI Ordered increase for the TV/Security System and Video Command Center arrived on Sat. $4.95/room monthly increase = $20/month for a 2 bedroom.

  4. This is a total rip-off! I think we need to contest this very rigorously. They have cut back on security and put in these stupid cameras that no one monitors (except to ogle the young girls) and we have more and more crime in the project. Where do these jerk-offs get off trying to pull this nonsense. I think we should all object and not pay the increase. If we file a PAR the increase gets put on hold for a long time.

  5. I know that the DHCR is full of Pataki lackeys that rubber stamp anything the landlords put before them, but they OUGHT to be required to prove some benefit in order to collect.

I could be wrong, but I'd bet anything that there's been no reduction in crime whatsoever, post Video Command Center implementation.

So who benefits? TS/CW has shrunk the size (and budget) of the Security force, and replaced boots on the ground with a bunch of cameras that they want the residents to pay for in perpetuity.

Bullshit meter is well in the red zone on this one.

  6. The sponge bob photos on Lux were classic. As were the real photos of security using the system to browse craigslist.

  7. We have to put up a strong battle against this one. It is ludicrous. It is beyond ludicrous - it is an absolute INSULT!

  8. How many times was the ice pick mugger caught on tape attacking victims in Stuy Town and how many times did these cameras stop the attacks? It was the NYPD who caught him. In fact, none of the muggings of recent years caught on tape were interrupted by security. They are USELESS. Charging us for them is insulting.

  9. Precisely. And the TA lawyers or lawyer should compel evidence of just how useful the Video Command Center has been these past few years. And expose how the Video Command Center provides masturbatory fantasies to those who monitor Stuy Town's hot babes. Perhaps Public Safety should be paying us for that privilege.

  10. I received two identical copies of the same notice for the security camera/key card MCI. Hope they don't plan to charge me twice for that! It's bad enough being hit up for the stupid intercom that hardly ever works without being hit up twice for the cameras they never use except for voyeur activities.

  11. STR;
Between your pictures of dog shit, and your undercover steak out of Starbucks, and now hiding behind bushes taking pictures of girls sun-bathing... It's truly amazing! What a full, rich, and rewarding life you have carved out for yourself.

Hey, don't you remember: those ice-pick muggings took place in "Gramercy!" Or so they said! LOL!

That's not a photo of a Stuy Town girl or the Oval Lawn. It's from a simple Google search. I let this comment of yours through (I rarely do, as you know, no matter how persistent you are), just to show you what an idiot you are. Nice try, but much, much better luck next time.

  18. In addition to the dormitory (see 4students in an apartment STR Yelp tread), excuse me, I meant the “compound” being covered with dog and human feces, we now have the privilege of being gasoline covered as well. Pls go the PCVST TA FB page to see the latest horror. Well, I guess it all makes sense because back in the day, we were the “Gashouse District.”

  19. I read that about the spilled gasoline. Outrageous.

  20. They will be applying for an MCI for cleaning up the gasoline

  21. Another MCI has come in PCV--for water tanks and valves.

I too received one for that in ST. This brings to three the number of mci's I've received in the last week.

    1.Resurfacing/water tank
    2. TV/Security System and Storage Card System
    3. Video Intercoms

Plus I apparently have to cut them a check for approximately $2100.00 for retroactively.

    The price for luxurious living.

  23. I don't think anyone will have to write about a check for retroactive payment. At least I hope not!!!

No, you do not have to cut them a check for $2,100 UNLESS you move out before the retroactive fees are paid off. They are not allowed to charge more than 6% of whatever your rent was in 2009 to be added to your rent. Of course, I don't know if there are going to be several 6 percents added onto our rent bill! What a horror this is. Add to that, they have totally incompetent idiots working in their accounting and legal departments and you can be sure they are going to fuck up royally. I hope the TA can challenge them successfully and get this robbery thrown back in their faces.

  25. I've received so far (2) MCI increases for $15.99 and $27.27 for a one bedroom ST apt. The retro charges are ~$717 and $1300. My lease is up at the end of February and with the additional rent increase, my rent, so far, will increase approximately $400/mo. (with retro) (still awaiting the 3rd MCI notice!)
If I move out in March can I assume I'd still be responsible for all retro charges until March '14?

  26. I live is ST 3 mci increase for a 2br means nearly 70/month increase plus 3,500 in retro charges. I notice 3 doors were replace in my building for a total charge of nearly 21,000 that 7,000 per door-were they bought at Saks???

They claim 3 doors were replaced in my building and then cite the wrong building address. What kind of people work at DHCR? The same bozos who work for Compass Rock?
