3 people now live no problem roommate need 1-2 for both sexes

Obviously the Google translation is screwed up, but I wonder if what this actually states is that 3 people are living in the Stuy Town apartment currently, and there are openings for 1 or 2 more of any sex. Well, if that's not what the original message says, it's still provides fodder for the imagination!

The original message:

Do note it's an NYU forum.

Where is Lo Rhent when you need him!

“Altogether the Prospect Heights home has six roommates, a steady stream of guests crashing on the couch and the occasional small concert staged in the living room of the fourth floor walk-up that still has manufacturing companies on lower floors. “
“A lot of people don't want to have five roommates, especially in their late 20s and early 30s, and once in a while, it's like, 'Yo, there are a lot of dishes in the sink,'" Abramovich said. "But it turns out I like to live with a lot of people. And price is important to me."

  9. Totally off-topic, I know, but here goes:

There was a program on NY1 tonight about the fact that the City Council is proposing charging ten cents per bag for plastic bags. One of the SDNY talking heads said that because people put these plastic bags in the recycling bins, they fuck up the optical sorters at the recycling plants and prevent recycling stuff from being recycled.

I see tons of plastic bags in our recycling bins, notwithstanding the instructions to not put them in there. Of course, some idiots don't know the difference between plastic and paper and some cannot read.

I believe in recycling, but I am not prepared to forego the plastic bags to lug my groceries home even if I have to pay for them. Would the people who fuck up the recycling by putting plastic shopping bags in the bins, please cease and desist! If you don't, then you are totally making recycling a waste of time.

This is the kind of information the TA should be accumulating for a lawsuit again CWCapital. The TA will not do it, however.

  13. Do we even have a TA? If we did, they'd be fighting these and more as Str said…..

so, I guess that's that. NO TA, and apparently we cannot get a real/ ahem, new one.

  14. No forget to send in chek for $35! TA always on you side! Or you back. They somewhere.

  15. Over at the "TA" facebook, Peter Stuyvesant only comes out of his/her den to chide people for being snippy with each other. Tsk, tsk!

There is never anything of substance from the Wizard of Oz. Tenants raise very relevant and important issues (such as a possibly dangerous generator installed on a playground), noise from the circus tent, multiple apartment inspections, etc., but the Peter Stuyvesant never has any comment on those posts and comments. The TA should be addressing these important QOL issues, but instead does nothing. Absolutely nothing. I really don't see the point of its existence or why anybody should pay to be a member.

The East Village Community Coalition has put together an online survey about what type of retail and services you want in the East Village. Here's the link:

    http://town-village.com/2014/11/21/tenantspac-its-time-for-tenants-to-step-up-the-pressure-in-albany/

TenantsPAC's Mike McKee explains exactly how we can apply the pressure.

  25. Nov 20 9:01 Good Point. I repeat it below. Also the inspections are ILLEGAL. Confirmed they are taking inventory eg refrigerator and air conditioner model numbers so they can count number to buy for renovation at bulk rates then charge tenants 5 to 10 times what they paid for the renovation.
CONFIRMED WITH LAWYER AND NYPD THE INSPECTIONS ARE ILLEGAL.

Spot on. Very little response or any discussion from TA representatives on most of the issues raised in their forum. That generator post went over like a lead balloon, even though placing it in the middle of playground 8 creates an outrageous safety issue. Who the hell runs the place like this anyway ?

  28. Nov 19 @ 10:17 pm: I doubt very much that anything other than cardboard boxes is actually recycled from here. The reason: the recycling bins are used as general garbage bins. It doesn't really matter if the cans and bottles, etc., are not rinsed, what does matter is that there is all kinds of non-recycleable dreck mixed in and that means that everything in the bin ends up in the landfills. The situation continues as long as the City doesn't issue fines to management and, as we all know, management and the city have a "look the other way" deal when it comes to the enforcement of most laws, whether they be quality of life laws, DOB, DHCR, whatever.

  30. If people actually took action, and by action I don't mean filling up a comment section with rants, we'd stand a chance. But it ain't going to happen. Look at the mid-lease rent hikes. Rents were going up thousands of dollars a month yet people couldn't find an hour to protest outside the leasing office. CompassRock KNOWS this community will take it up the ass which is why we keep getting fucked. Sorry, but that's the truth.

  34. Was considering fios with its wi fi Stuy Town Peter Cooper Village (despite that I hate hate hate that Verizon destroyed hundreds of trees to install it in the Oval Park) and googled to see if its secure as some said it is not. Verizon knows it is not secure and they are not doing anything about it. I will not be switching to Verizon Fios and I am relieved to continue to honor the fallen Trees by not using Verizon.

Yes, true. But it would not be happening either at all or to the level it is if the Buyers Association calling itself a TA weren't holding the doorhole wide open.

  38. Response to Bat: What do you suggest we do? Ranting here is probably the only thing we powerless tenants are able to do. I would love to do something substantial, but I don't know what. We have a TA that is supposed to address the illegalities and QOL issues, but they choose not to.

  39. "But it would not be happening either at all or to the level it is if the Buyers Association calling itself a TA weren't holding the doorhole wide open."

The TA didn't prevent everyone from showing up to the protests, did they?

    ReplyDelete
  40. The people who were affected by the mid lease rent hikes didn't bother to show up.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 9:24AM. Don't get FIOS because it sucks. Very unreliable, rates increase drastically after promotion expires and the customer service people are liars and idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 3;51 i'm affected by mid lease increases and I showed up. So did my friends.

? what is your point? Many tenants are busy working or taking care of kids.

    ReplyDelete
  43. That's the problem. No one shows up. Except to piss and moan in comments on blogs and Facebook. I report EVERY party, robbery, noise complaint, etc. all to 311. If even 5% of us did this instead of waiting for the TA to rev up their postcard machine these issues would get the attention they deserve. Stop waiting for someone else to do the work or tell you what to do. Show some personal leadership and stop being victims.

  44. >>3;51 i'm affected by mid lease increases and I showed up. So did my friends.<<

Very precious few people showed up. I saw, chiefly, RS tenants at those protests. I was a pathetic turn out considering the thousands of people who live here, disregarding the student population who doesn't care.

  46. Wow! Just wow! How can I sign up for Spelling Bee Battles? I want to see of Susan Steinberg can spell 'bikini.'

    ReplyDelete
  47. @5:35 But not all aren't. Look how many people turned out the Ferguson rallies last night. I bet the a lot of them have kids too. If you want to do something, you'll find the time. If Oprah did a book signing at the study, I bet you'd find the time REAL fast.

    ReplyDelete
  48. "If Oprah did a book signing at the study, I bet you'd find the time REAL fast."

You'd lose your bet because I wouldn't show up for an Oprah book signing if you paid me!

Now, if we had someone on the TA board with the fire and fury of the Reverend Al, we would actually get the entire population of tenants plus some to attend rallies, meetings, protests, etc. All we have now is a bunch of wannabe buyers who don't give a damn about anything else and are lead by the nose by Devious Dan.
