Two great comments on that page:
"I guess the idea of constructing affordable housing for regular hard working people is but a lost dream now."
"I miss the old NY so much, this town is as plastic and corny as it gets. No more character or culture or soul left. Everything looks the same, major chain stores dominate the landscape, no more mom and pop shops where you can go in and have a conversation with the old man behind the counter. More high rise 'glitzy' ugly sky scrapers being built for wall street types and trust fund babies. My friend from Portland came to town last month, he hasn't been here since 1999, he was here for 2 days, he calls me and says 'what the hell happen to this place?' When somebody from Portland says your city is dull and boring, something is wrong."
And:
http://therealdeal.com/blog/2015/05/27/sl-greens-one-vanderbilt-gets-council-approval/
The money quote, italics mine:
"The Council also approved a rezoning of the Vanderbilt Corridor, a five-block stretch in the area of the tower. The rezoning is intended to spur commercial development and will make it easier for landmarks to transfer unused development rights. It is seen as the first step toward a potential rezoning of the entire East Midtown neighborhood."
Congratulations, Dan!
I guess the idea of constructing affordable housing for regular hard working people is but a lost dream now.
I guess the idea of constructing affordable housing for regular hard working people is but a lost dream now.
Received an email from Dan. He's gonna be in the Albany bus next week. What a fraud!
ReplyDeleteHas he no shame?
Dirty Deal.
ReplyDelete"The rezoning is intended to spur commercial development"
ReplyDeleteIf there is any single location in Manhattan that does not need more commercial development it is Midtown East around Grand Central Station. In truth, this is the last NYC business district needing more traffic, more people, more density, more congestion, more noise. One Vanderbilt, together with the already in-progress LIRR access and 2nd Ave subway projects, will transform the entire area into a huge construction zone lasting 20 years, probably more.
http://commercialobserver.com/2015/05/vanderbilt-rezoning-takes-giant-leap-forward/
Vanderbilt Rezoning Takes Giant Leap Forward
“We are here today to say that East Midtown is back,” said City Council Member Dan Garodnick.
The Vanderbilt Corridor rezoning will permit for buildings along the avenue from East 42nd to East 47th Streets to expand after obtaining a special permit and agreeing to make significant infrastructure improvements or by purchasing air rights from a landmarked building.
“It will be up to the public and the public review process to consider whether the density that is being sought is deserving based on the infrastructure improvements they are delivering to the public,” said Mr. Garodnick."
East Midtown isn't coming "back" because it never went away. No matter, we already know Dan's notion of the "public review process" consists entirely of generating and maintaining a false narrative pretending a public review took place (when it didn't) and the public approved (when it didn't) whatever it is that Dan wants. Looking forward, we should anticipate an additional four office towers will be constructed along Vanderbilt after the extremely grateful, extremely generous developers planning them earn Dan's special endorsements.
All the simultaneous construction will combine into a massive, overlapping, 20-year clusterfu*k.
What bothers most is this was a quid pro quo deal instead of organic evaluation on the sensibility of this train wreck. A unanimous vote by City Council is suspicious. The only way there is no dissension is if it was a back room deal. This is as back room and ass backwards as it gets. Even takes the Grand out of Grand Central. Ruined an icon.
ReplyDeleteDISGRACEFUL AND DUMB
ReplyDeleteChatter in CT is this is all about shortening the commute for very wealthy corporate Connecticut executives while giving 360 degree views without having to get on a dirty subway. Lost MTA revenue for the city with CT getting it's own corporate alley next to Grand Central getting minimized to being a hub in a dark shadow. Don't hate CT, some of us think it is the ultimate in disgraceful.
A deal made by the very wealthy for the very wealthy under the guise of attracting new headquarters and businesses $ for NYC. It is a fool's deal that prioritizes convenience for the wealthy at the cost of character and safety of NYC. Just as the towers for very wealthy non-residents darkening and killing Central Park.
REBNY politician soldiers giving away NYC to accommodate the very wealthy and eliminate the enemy, the Middle Class. This cries for redistricting so never again will multiple important icons fall under a single politician's control to demise. He is literally killing the value and life of New York icons to enrich the 1% and take away from the masses, the tourists and the working New York City citizens.
He is bad for NYC citizens. Good for wealthiest of non-residents and commuters.
Let's pray they don't use PAL for the asbestos removal as they demolition those beautiful artistic masonry buildings. Dan's plan is dumb as a pile of rocks.
ReplyDelete>>If there is any single location in Manhattan that does not need more commercial development it is Midtown East around Grand Central Station. ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a nightmare. And, you're right. I was in the Grand Central area last week and it is very tight and narrow already, and packed with humanity. Putting in some extra underground walkways to the trains and a couple of mini-parks with waterfalls (Dan's favorite amenity) for the lunchtime crowd is not going to offset the tremendous increase in density. And now with the construction of more high-rises in the area assured because of the City Council deal, we will have decades worth of obstruction, noise and pollution all over the place. Just what the Grand Central area needs!
I was going to sign up for the bus but refuse to with Dan on it. Maybe we will organize a car group that supports tenant's rights and fights against Dan's plan that raised the rent roll $100 million.
ReplyDeleteIs Meredith Kane of Tenant Association's Law Firm Paul Weiss on the bus? She is our lawyer after all, right? Where is Meredith Kane? Where was she at the Hoylman / Marsh / Kavanagh high school pep rally? Meredith where are you?????????? Will you sit next to Dan on the bus? We would love to talk with you.
ReplyDeleteIs City planning doing any evaluation on the effect these have on blocking the sky and sun? The new tower in the flatiron almost completely blocks all our sun and sky and we are 15 blocks away. NYC windows have tiny cut out sun between buildings as it is. These towers can block some apartments completely of sun even if they are a mile away dong all they can to ruin quality of life of real New Yorkers who live, work and raise our families here.
ReplyDeleteAnd with Dan on the bus I am now out.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget this Vanderbilt corridor rezoning disease has even greater waste and greed with this luxury hotel for those coming to New York for the Trump golf cups, and classless Barclay conventions.
ReplyDeleteIt is a plague on New York and New Yorkers by a REBNY owned city that owns city and state politicians. Come on Preet, take out the lobbyists too.
"The Vanderbilt corridor may be getting a new tower on a site no one expected to be redeveloped so fast.
Shrewd Howard Milstein is now focusing on designing and developing a completely new modern tower at 335 Madison Ave. that would take advantage of the new Vanderbilt corridor zoning boost, ...
To those of you who can’t make heads or tails out of taking down a 1.1 million square-foot tower from 1984 for a slightly larger one, think again."
http://nypost.com/2015/03/03/vanderbilt-corridor-set-for-massive-new-tower/
What a terrifically sound plan, (sarcasm) use energy and resources to take down perfectly solid, good buildings to make bigger ones while the city infrastructure is decaying and vast number of buildings are in disrepair. The DOB is a greedy, negligent agency.
This City Council if failing EVERY NEW YORKER
ReplyDeleteTHIS CITY COUNCIL IS FAILING EVERY NEW YORKER
ReplyDeletehttp://nypost.com/2015/05/29/de-blasios-pension-opposition-is-about-to-blow-up-in-his-face/
ON THIS I SIDE WITH THE STATE, TEAM NYPD AND FDNY ALL THE WAY! We are a family with generations of NYPD and FDNY (by marriage). We serve the entire community of New York City. This City Council serves the rich only.
Dan and his cronies steal sunlight from the general populace. We are going backwards in this country. It's almost like a Feudal System here. Eventually, the tide will turn and people will start moving out of NYC to live in more human-friendly cities and the Oligarchs and Plutocrats will have their hideous skyscrapers all to themselves. As the people flow out, so the jobs flow out.
ReplyDeleteDan should have stayed with Paul Weiss and not inflicted himself on the unwary people of New York. He and his bloodsucking pals were salivating over PCVST from the get-go. This little jerk must have done an awful lot of back-room deals for him to achieve the level of power that he has now. Hopefully, he will go away the day after his ill-gotten third term ends and we will never hear about him again.
Don't ask me to recycle my fucking garbage, you bastards! You turn the whole City into a toxic dump and take away every shred of grace and charm it ever had (and it used to have a lot) and build monstrosities to block the sun and light. Bunch of assholes!
ReplyDeleteThose tides already turned.
ReplyDeleteMore people are moving out of New Jersey than are moving in.
The same is true for Illinois and New York.
Those three states top the “outbound” list compiled by United Van Lines, the big St. Louis-based moving company that has put together an annual survey of where Americans are moving for the last 37 years.
The company analyzed a total of 125,000 moves across the 48 continental states and the District of Columbia in 2013 and came up with a picture of migration patterns across the U.S.

"I’m not surprised that people are leaving New York. The average rental price in the city for a one-bedroom, excluding Staten Island, is $3,000, according to a recent Daily News report, more than three times the national average of $1,100."

There is no need for this build higher de Blasio density plan. It is a lie to say it is for any reason other than to enrich RE and Wall Street.
Incomes in NYC
ReplyDeleteNew York City is home to both the extremely rich, and the extremely poor. According to data from the IRS, New York City had 10 of the top 20 ZIP codes as ranked by income- with an average reported income of $953,177 per tax return.
On the other end of the spectrum many NYC residents are quite poor- according to data from the US Census bureau 19.3% of the city’s population is living below the poverty level- with around 2 million NYC residents receiving food stamps.
http://www.movingtonewyorkguide.com/facts-about-new-york-city-for-people-planning-to-move-to-nyc/
7:54: Almost all the big hedge funds are already IN Greenwich and nearby. Since all trading is done via internet, there's no need for these guys to commute into Manhattan every day any more. And with taxes so much lower in CT than NYC, that pretty much seals the deal.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't see how another office tower in midtown is that big a deal. And office towers and affordable housing are not mutually exclusive. Stop pretending that this is another ultra-luxury condominium for rich , foreign investors, it's just a place to go to work, and it's bringing in $220 million for the Grand Central SUBWAY station, NOT Metro North, improvements.
Reading this blog and its comments is so depressing. Count how many "needs" and "shoulds" appear on this blog at any given time. It's remarkable. It is clear the only purpose of this blog's comment sections is to complain and not engage in a full and productive conversation.
ReplyDeleteBut no commenter takes any action. More complaints. No action. And on and on. If you hate this place so much, move out. If you stay, that's on you, not Compass Rock.
"This City Council if failing EVERY NEW YORKER"
ReplyDeleteYou are so damn right! They are supposed to be working for us. Instead, they work for their donors/owners and everything they do is for their benefit. We, the people, are just an annoyance they try to avoid except when it comes to paying our taxes and VOTING FOR THE BASTARDS.
I'm sending them all POSTCARDS!!!
ReplyDelete>>It is clear the only purpose of this blog's comment sections is to complain and not engage in a full and productive conversation.<<
ReplyDeleteI disagree. But what would your "full and productive conversation" look like?
This building benefits the richest 1% of the 1% same as billionaire row. How can these people face themselves in the morning? They should be ashamed of themselves.
ReplyDeleteMay 30, 2015 at 6:45 PM I disagree. I know quite a few different people who are taking action. They just, and I just do not tell you about the actions being taken or give trolls reading this blog a heads up. There is nothing wrong with those who comment and take no action and those who comment and are taking actions. I enjoy reading all their opinions and get many ideas from what this community says on this blog. Sounds like the comments are really bothering you a lot. So stop reading them. Or keep reading them. So what. Do what works for you and let others do what works for them.
ReplyDeleteI find it hilarious that we hate on Texas and their politics but who has the most CORRUPT POLITICIANS in the country? New YORK . Wake up New York. So damn naive - i do have a bridge to sell you people.

All it takes for anyone searching for the truth about Garodnick betraying his ST-PCV neighbors/constituents is a simple "garodnick brookfield stuyvesant town" or similar-worded google search.
Google search gets past [1] Dan's phony "tenant hero" self portrayal and [2][3] same phony storyline paid lobbyists feed to lazy media.
Google may not be perfect, but it's way more difficult and expensive for paid lobbyists to rig than yelp. The fact that lobbyists repeatedly launch troll attacks against STR for publishing the truth about their clients is proof the truth is getting past the false narrative they are paid to spin.
STR - Please keep publishing the truth about Garodnick and the TA selling themselves out to Brookfield. They are distracting us with post cards and a bus ride while simultaneously stabbing us in the back with their phony "tenant led purchase" delivering ST-PCV right back into the claws of a REBNY predator investing $25 million supporting and cheerleading Speyer's failed, all-or-nothing scheme to boot us out of our homes.
What do corrupt politicians care about? Millions of REBNY dollars or post cards and a bus ride? Preet and the media will pick up on the truth and demand honest answers to basic questions Garodnick and the TA ignored and dodged for more than 4 years.
Keep up your good work STR. We need it.
6:17 the jam packed Metro North New Haven and Danbury lines with millionaire executives would indicate otherwise. Vanderbilt corridor is to benefit the wealthy commuters who will now have a shorter commute and no longer need to take a subway or support another neighborhood with revenue as companies migrate offices to midtown. This plan does not bring in new companies, it merely migrates them in a sadistic competition to steal from other NYC - an easy objective.
ReplyDeleteA better plan would have been to come up with ways to increase revenue without stealing it from other NYC areas. TD bank, the main tenant of this tower is migrating their other offices to this one. This benefits the wealthy canadian TD bank operations to consolidate - something which could have been consolidated to a location without destroying perfectly solid buildings and without the huge amount of energy it will from a planet in peril take to tear down and build an ego driven tower.
The destruction of Vanderbilt corridor benefits the corporations and the wealthy.
New Yorkers are wise to these schemes. Don't kid yourself. We are not buying it.
Some politicians imitate and compete with other in childish petty acts to get headlines and increase money-take instead of original ideas and solutions to further society. A group of low class, low achievers who go after low hanging fruit for big headlines and $.
ReplyDeleteNYC communities, neighborhoods should not compete with each other but rather build each other up, support each other to further all neighborhoods and boroughs of NYC.
Vanderbilt corridor and midtown east rezoning is to steal businesses that moved to the west side or downtown. Then what - those neighborhoods suffer?
NYC neighborhoods and boroughs should support each other just as US cities and US states should. de Blasio in a competition with San Francisco for tech industry steals from Americans.
We need better leadership that gets revenue in without having to steal it from other areas of ourselves - with new organically developed ideas, new companies, individuality and not generic city skylines of same tower design, lit up with corporate logos. The AG was right to fight back years ago against LG along the Hudson although the development should have been disallowed entirely rather than just the eye view of the corporate logo.
NYC is a collection of communities, or it was, now it is a collection of degenerate convention centers, golf courses, casinos, skylines dotted with corporate logos and empty towers for "eurotrash", oligarchs, and the world's nastiest criminals. All mass produced, all generic, all common mainstream no artisan. We have this problem in Boston to where my kid is in school. He gave me the below point of view on NYC and Eurotrash.
De Blasio is failing with his policies for working and middle class.
By "eurotrash" I\we are not knocking Europeans, but using the Urban definitions:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Eurotrash
There are dozens of funny ones, Here are 2.
Eurotrash
A human sub-phylum characterized by its apparent affluence, worldliness, social affectation and addiction to fashion. Males are characterized by a semi-slovenly appearance (including half-shaven faces), greasy hair, rib-hugging shirts, tight jeans and loafers worn without socks. Women are easily distinguished by anorexia, over-bleached hair, gaudy jewelry, plastic surgery (particularly breast-enlargement) and their attachment to the male species. Both sexes greet each other with “air kisses,” immediately speak of their last trip (often Paris, Rome, Majorca), spend hours at “see-and-be-seen” restaurants and exhibit a world-weariness and pained sense of irony.
eurotrash
A drug addicted, skinny, pale, sarcastic, trust fund baby, clubbing every night, male/female. eurotrash have keen fashion sense and often aren't european. they often go to university full time, but skip most of their classes and have no major. they don't get kicked out and they don't have any visible form of income but live lavishly. eurotrash don't bathe, smile or wash their hair on a regular basis so they may reek of perfumes and colognes.
Shit man, look at all the eurotrash at Boston University.

ReplyDeleteBravo. Well said. Brilliant.
Also BRAVO STR. Thank you for all you do for this community.
ReplyDelete12:11 AM that explains it. That is why the trolls keep making passive aggressive comments telling people to stop complaining here and take action. We are doing good work here, making a difference, probably more of a difference than twitter or the other stuff the troll demands.
ReplyDeleteThey are trying to stop our good work here. If we weren't making a difference they would want us to keep commenting, wasting our time as a bus ride and post cards are waste of time, waste of fuel, waste of trees and the same tactics the TA and Dan tell us to use every year that have never worked. We can't keep doing the same things as bus rides and post cards and expect a different outcome.
We may get a different outcome this year but that is because Preet Bharara stopped two major corrupt heads.
That explains why the only advice we got from the Tenant Association was bad advice bad direction that would waste our time and get no results. We never did as they told us and would never trust their advice.
We went straight to DHCR and got better advice. Before the trolls start asking what happened at DHCR - we suggest everyone go there, tell your story, file your own complaint instead of comparing yourself to other people.
Another crane collapse. The latest of many. When the Vanderbilt Boondoggle starts there will be more. NYC is becoming more and more unlivable.
ReplyDeleteOh, I almost forgot: Thank you, Dan. (You asshole)
and it's bringing in $220 million for the Grand Central SUBWAY station, NOT Metro North, improvements.
ReplyDeleteMay 30, 2015 at 6:17 PM
Puhlease...the "improvements" so those poorer low level workers who take the subway to work because they were rpiced out of Manhattan in these lower and middle level support jobs in these offices get on the subway stations that are decaying in conditions and at the Grand Central destination (used by tourists) the subway is fixed up. This is not for New Yorkers and it is not worth the price New Yorkers are paying for the loss of Vanderbilt corridor because politicians have no imagination to come up with better ways to use the corridor than to give it away to billionaire developers laundering money. Bullshit.
>>That is why the trolls keep making passive aggressive comments telling people to stop complaining here and take action.<<
ReplyDeleteHere's the action the TA can take. Instead of bus rides to Albany or postcards. How about suing CWCapital/CompassRock? There are enough infractions here and HUGE questions about the legality of adding rooms but stating no change in occupancy or use. Why has nothing been done yet from the TA and Our Man Dan?
I wasn't going to say anything about that bus ride, but since the topic has been brought up.... Thank you to those who care enough about tenant protections to go to Albany (and I mean that), but seriously, what is this going to change? (BTW, is this one bus or a legion of buses leaving Stuy Town?) Does anyone think that rent protections will evaporate mid-June? If they did, I predict a revolution and not the peaceful kind in NYC. So the rent protections will be there, it's just a matter of how much more can be achieved, if anything. Yet the spin is primarily about instilling fear in tenants that the protections will be gone. So when protections are not gone, there is a claim of success.
"Yet the spin is primarily about instilling fear in tenants that the protections will be gone. So when protections are not gone, there is a claim of success."
ReplyDeleteExactly right. Completely agree.
May 31, 2015 at 2:04 PM It's a demonstration of tenant power. Members of 1199SEIU will be there along with tenant groups from across the city, especially, judging by Foley Square and from my past experience, people of color. They get why they have to show up. They don't give up as easily as you.
ReplyDeleteSpin? The numbers are real. Landlords want to extend regs as is for as long as possible because under current regs, the city is hemorrhaging rent stabilized housing and protections are gone for all except those already in rent regulated apts. Every apt that gets de-stabilized makes the rent-regulated voting bloc that much weaker. Soon enough we'll be weak enough to pick off. That's why Real Rent Reform and uptown's Alliance for Tenants Power are pushing Cuomo hard now to repeal vacancy deregulation now, not in 4 years.
>>It's a demonstration of tenant power.<<
ReplyDeleteSo why not do it IN New York City, and not on a weekday, where everyone who can attend can go. Surely, a massive turnout in NYC (and there'd be more people who could attend if it was in the city) could say more than a bus from Stuy Town heading to Albany along with other buses from here or there.
I know str. How convenient that it's in Albany (for who) and not here.
ReplyDeleteAgain, again and AGAIN
ReplyDeleteWHY DON'T WE FORM A TA. Is there ar rule against it? I'M PULLING MY HAIR OUT.
May 31, 2015 at 4:26 PM
ReplyDeleteThere was one a month ago in NYC at Foley Square/Brooklyn Bridge, and after 5pm. Did you go?
It'll be tough to ignore thousands of angry tenants who took off a day of work to show up at legislators' workplace during business hours.
>>There was one a month ago in NYC at Foley Square/Brooklyn Bridge, and after 5pm. Did you go?<<
ReplyDeleteNo, I couldn't make that. Sorry.
But I have been at other protests/tenant support gatherings. You'll even find on this blog some STR photos of one at City Hall.
One final thought. Letting your disapproval of the TA get in the way of publicizing Tenant Lobby Day in Albany on June 9 is petty. The rally is being sponsored by Real Rent Reform, Alliance for Tenants, and 1199SEIU. The TA is just providing the transportation there for us in ST and PCV. Please do the right thing.

ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you take it up with Real Rent Reform or Alliance for Tenants Power? The peanut gallery on the comments threads here can always be counted on to pipe up after the fact, but if you don't like being inconvenienced, it would have been perhaps more helpful to have brought that up at the time at one of the countless strategy meetings and workshops they ran since the start of the year.

"We may get a different outcome this year but that is because Preet Bharara stopped two major corrupt heads."
ReplyDeleteCuomo said corruption arrests have thrown Albany politics into chaos preventing rational deliberation and legislation. As a result, he felt inclined to maintain both RS and 421-A, as is, which is precisely what REBNY paid/ordered "3 men in a room" (Cuomo, Silver, Skelos) to do this year.
Good luck with the postcards, but keep in mind Speyer and Brookfield own him.
"But no commenter takes any action. More complaints. No action. And on and on. If you hate this place so much, move out. If you stay, that's on you, not Compass Rock."
ReplyDeleteGoogle "garodnick brookfield stuyvesant town"
Make that a repetitive response to repetitive troll attacks by paid lobbyists spinning the false narrative for their clients. Does Compass Rock use the same paid lobbyist employed by REBNY, Speyer, Brookfield, Cuomo, Garodnick, PCVST TA ... and sadly, Mayor de Blasio?
Publishing the truth gets the truth past paid lobbyists. Preet and real journalists will pick up the truth and run with it.
Albany has been in chaos for years because of the corruption. There may be additional chaos now because the rest of the criminals are sweating as the wait for the heavy hand of Preet to land on their shoulder. I would dance barefoot on broken glass to see Speyer and the pols he owns get dragged out by the short hairs.

Again, these ongoing troll attacks are proof STR publishing the truth is getting past paid lobbyists spinning false narratives promoting their dishonest client's agenda.
So much corruption here - no one cares though. The beloved democrats continue in NY and we shake their hands. I am so proud (not).
ReplyDeleteThe Call on NY1 is (I think) going to discuss crane safety in NYC. There was an engineer being interviewed on Ch 7 today who said yesterday's accident was caused by human error and incompetence. He also said there are not enough inspectors for all the cranes in NYC and given the current construction boom, that does not bode well for the general public.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Cuomo kicks 421a to the Curb because DeBlasio and the shitty council just don't give a ff about the safety of the public, just as they don't care about the destruction of neighborhoods and communities. The minute amount of "affordable housing" isn't worth the sell-out of New Yorkers.
Anonymous 7.05 AM. Buses are also being provided by 1199SEIU, the Alliance For Tenant Power and Real Rent Reform. Contact Darren@tandn.org or ava@metcouncilonhousing for further info. Going to this Albany rally has nothing to do with dissing the STR, who provides a valuable service. I guess you think Michael McKee is a REBNY troll as well. The action now is in Albany. But you rather just post here and rag on the TA, Garodnick, etc., post dozens of links showing the corruption of the NYS/NYC political system, which again does NOTHING, you are preaching to the converted on a blog. I’m taking the day off to travel to Albany on one of the Real Rent Reform buses. What are you doing that day? Again, as a previous poster said, Twitter is the way to interrupt CR/CWC’s demo strategy. What tweets do you do? Are you following and tweeting for the #SaveNYC campaign?
ReplyDeleteCertainly anyone is welcome to go to Albany. Thanks and good luck!
ReplyDeleteRegarding "action"--I'd love to see some real action from the TA and Our Man Dan here. Still waiting and waiting....
>>But you rather just post here and rag on the TA, Garodnick, etc., post dozens of links showing the corruption of the NYS/NYC political system, which again does NOTHING, you are preaching to the converted on a blog.<<
ReplyDeleteDisagree completely. You have no way of knowing how many readers of this blog ARE going to Albany. (Actually, you are going there and you read this blog and the comments and make comments, so that's one person at least!) As to the "ragging" here--there's a good amount of information presented in the comments that can be used or ignored, but it's there. The "ragging" also can provide a focus on the problems we have and presents to outsiders the truth about what's going on in ST/PCV. Blogs like this are an important part of social media, and this one is read, not just by the people who make comments. Believe me.
@7:05 an anonymous poster disagreeing with an an anonymous poster on an anonymous blog is not "trolling". At best, you may both be trolls.

ReplyDelete"Anonymous 7.05 AM. Buses are also being provided by 1199SEIU, the Alliance For Tenant Power and Real Rent Reform ... Going to this Albany rally has nothing to do with dissing the STR, who provides a valuable service. I guess you think Michael McKee is a REBNY troll as well."
There you go again repeating yourself conflating TA criticism with opposition to stronger RS protections. I responded to your troll comment attacking STR, which specifically states:
"Anonymous May 31, 2015 at 5:38 PM - One final thought. Letting your disapproval of the TA get in the way of publicizing Tenant Lobby Day in Albany on June 9 is petty."
Are you denying your 05/31 comment is a baseless, malicious attack against STR conflating legitimate TA criticism with opposition to stronger RS laws?
The links posted weren't about corrupt politicians lying to us while actually stabbing us in the back and sadly, not caring very much about thousands of postcards or the occasional busloads of NYC tenants trekking up to Albany when REBNY is showering millions of dollars on them 24/7/365. The links trace to recent STR posts supporting stronger RS protections and alerting readers to important upcoming dates and public events. But since you're a lobbying troll with a different agenda, the truth gets misconstrued when it doesn't promote your client's false narrative.
It's good reading you changed your opinion and now agree STR provides a "valuable service," but why did you then immediately conflate a comment calling attention to lobbyists trolling for REBNY with calling Mike McKee a troll for REBNY?
"The action now is in Albany."
No it's not. The action is REBNY buying corrupt politicians here in NYC and in Albany 24/7/365. Again sadly, postcards and a bus trip will not effectively change that circumstance. It will take criminal investigations, arrests, prosecutions and prison sentences to deter corrupt politicians betraying constituents with impunity and without remorse. It would be great if the billionaires bribing them were arrested too, but it looks like Speyer and Litwin will portray themselves as extortion victims and probably get away with it.
"I’m taking the day off to travel to Albany on one of the Real Rent Reform buses."
Maybe, but I doubt it. That's not what your comment is about. It's a standard malicious troll attack with misleading ID.
I'm no fan of Garodnick.
I'm not a TA member.
I'm not riding their bus.
Anyone not aboard a bus to Albany opposes strong RS protections.
"Again, as a previous poster said, Twitter is the way to interrupt CR/CWC’s demo strategy. What tweets do you do? Are you following and tweeting for the #SaveNYC campaign?"
I don't Tweet or follow Twitter. Is there a reason the troll cites a previous poster recommending it? I believe STR is valuable, effective and should not be diluted. Is Twitter more effective? Is it easy to rig/trace? How so? What's the REBNY lobby agenda there?
5:59 Don't tarnish the good name of Mike McKee by lumping him in with the Peter Cooper Stuyvesant Town tenant association that hired senior level REBNY lawyer Meredith Kan to help with Rob Speyer Tishman BlackRock Brookfield investor's plan against this middle class community.
ReplyDelete7:05 AM. He's not posting a notice about the tenant rally in Albany because the TA is providing the buses to the rally for us in PCV,ST. Sorry, that IS petty.
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm considering posting about the rally, but if tenants don't know by now that there is one, and need a posting on this blog to inform them of it, well.... That I doubt very much.
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY RIGHT

BTW, it's never a good idea to try to bully me into doing anything on this blog.
ReplyDelete12:19 you have no basis for your cheap-shot passive aggressive claim on STR's intentions or reasons to manipulate or guilt or falsely accuse. STR can post whatever he / she does or does not want to post. It is not your blog. Stop trying to control all the blog posts and control all the commentators words and topics of discussion. It is not your blog!

ReplyDeleteThat's the truth. They can laugh at anything else and ram on.

ReplyDelete"1:13 PM he posts about dog shit and ny in 1950 while met council on housing and other tenants groups are trying to get bodies representing in albany so what falsely accuse are you talking about?"
Lobbying troll conflates dog shit and ny in 1950 with opposition to stronger RS protections.
Comment isn't about RS protections. It's standard malicious troll attack. STR is about dog shit. STR opposes stronger RS protections. Anyone not taking a bus trip to Albany opposes stronger RS protections ... dubious met council affiliation.
WE know the lobby troll agenda is malicious attacks against anyone opposing the false narrative they promote for dishonest clients. We've been reading their comments on STR for years.
Met council has website, forums, etc.
Keep up the good work STR

12:20 AM so throwing the word troll around like a monkey flings shit makes you what, the minister of information? or hall monitor?

ReplyDelete"so throwing the word troll around like a monkey flings shit makes you what, the minister of information? or hall monitor?"
Lobbying troll conflates comment identifying malicious lobbying troll attacks against STR with a monkey flinging shit. Lobbying trolls are the monkeys flinging shit at truth exposing their dishonest client's false narratives.
