A post on the TA Facebook from a member:
"After a year of having a NYU fraternity, Zeta Psi, living next to us, they have finally moved out. It was a year of security coming for loud parties, pot smoking, garbage in hallways, etc. It was unbearable for tenants in our building. Especially the tenants immediately in the Zeta Psi apartments vicinity. Well, PCVST sure can turn over a 5 bedroom apartment quickly. We now have another NYU fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, living next to us. The shenanigans have already started. Last night waking up the whole building at 11:00 pm, blasting music and smoking pot. Security came and did a great job. Kudos to them. But how long do we have to put up with them making the building not livable. The office and NYU have said this is not an NYU apartment, but how can two NYU frats have moved in consecutively. There has to be some connection between management and NYU. Whether it is the broker management uses or management's leasing agents. Is someone getting a kickback? Is it legal for management to keep renting to NYU frats? I have all the evidence to prove that it is NYU frats. Can Dan Garodnick get some law pass were these entitled disrespectful NYU students can't live here? Is there legal action that can be taken against management and NYU?"
A follow-up comment from another member:
"Same here."
Response from the TA:
"Noise and other complaints should be made to 311. Do not confront the frat boys--call Public Safety instead (you know this already). Complain to NYU (deans, the president) and to the national organization of fraternities and societies. If you can get others to complain, that's even better. Management is not changing its policies (don't ask, don't tell?), so we have to take our fight elsewhere...."
My comment:
How about the TA taking the fight to CWCapital and CompassRock itself? How about gathering information such as this from tenants, and information about other infractions here (it is ILLEGAL to have more than three unrelated people in an apartment), and finally initiating a lawsuit? How about being serious for once? Or is the hope still alive that the TA's wealthier tenants will have the opportunity to purchase their apartments in a condo conversion? And is the fear that the any lawsuit would delay or screw-up that pipe dream? Stand up for what Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village were created for: AFFORDABLE MIDDLE-CLASS HOUSING. Be serious, damn it.
The tenant association MUST address these issues on behalf of everyone who signed the pledge and is a member of the tenant association.
ReplyDeleteIf you are not a member, understandably as they do nothing, suggest you call 311 to get the noise complaint on record, give 311 the full names of the tenants and all other names partying, and if it continues file a harassment complaint in the courts.
For further instruction on filing the harassment complaint in the courts contact the 13th precinct.
Capture the sound level and any video and photos you can on your iphone.
Are they ineffective on purpose?
ReplyDeleteHow about the Tenant Association file harassment in the courts! Or would CW CompassRock call them out on their role.
ReplyDeleteThis has been going on for years and the TA has done nothing to stop it. It should not be a tenant problem when we have a tenant association. Otherwise why have a tenant association at all if not to have a stronger voice in protecting tenant rights?
ReplyDeleteI want to know the special perks the TA board gets in the purchase of their apartments in exchange for not challenging ANY of the 10 year Fink Speyer Langone plan being carried out by Brookfield with all the same former Tishman employees.
ReplyDeleteMust be one helluva an incentive package
Videotape the party and start a YouTube page of what life is really like in Langone PartyTown Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town.
ReplyDeleteAny complaints about NYU on the TA fb elicit the same prissy little response from the moderator. I get the feeling that the TA is run by little old ladies. Finger-wagging little old ladies.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't they do anything about college dorms and parties?
ReplyDeletePaul Weiss/Apollo + McGraw Hill Education/NYU Collaborations
They were always bringing in college campus dorms, college quad, college amenities, and tons of office spaces for all the third party businesses as they all commercialized this once residential community in a now dead and gone tree park....all of them were bringing "college" into PCVST. That is why they cannot dispute the college element in PCVST .. it would be hypocritical and exposed.

Formerly a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, McGraw-Hill Education was divested from McGraw Hill Financial and acquired by Apollo Global Management in March 2013 for $2.5 billion in cash.[7][8][9][10]

Google McGraw Hill education NYU for tons of information on the collaboration. Some in the city administration was always kicking out working families and replacing them with NYU. The list of pols involved is very long.
Most Quinn city council and now Viverito, city administration, state either turned a blind eye, voted for or were instrumental in eliminating working middle class from PCV ST to build the Dental Medical Health and Teaching Corridor for NYU. That includes each and every politician who campaigns on our perimeter pretending they will protect PCV ST while they are voting against us, writing policies for NYU, using their political office for the business deal. Do not vote for any politicians you have seen campaigning on our perimeters, 14th and First and all the way up..

ReplyDeleteOne reason: THEY ARE AFRAID
Afraid? No. Bullies? Yes. The crap they have done to tenants is disgusting.
ReplyDeleteJune 7, 2015 at 2:04 PM that is troubling. A Board of Directors are supposed to be assured, assertive, aggressive, anything BUT afraid. We are doomed.
ReplyDeleteOne of those Zeta Psi summer intern guys was in charge of
ReplyDeleteMaterial Coordination

I've been watching a really interesting documentary on Al Jazeera called "Hard Earned." It spotlights various middle and low income people in different parts of the country. Mother are all working two jobs or more and barely keeping their heads above water. The American Dream is dead. Murdered by Wall Street and the politicians they buy. Jobs gone overseas and bloodsucking Wall Street. Damn them all to hell.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAH......I really have to laugh when I contemplate the fate of NYU and all these frat apartments. Once the Stytown TA catches wind of their existence They'll be ruing the day they ever came to the Sty. I suggest that any normal tenant in the Sty who is affected by these mutants contact said TA as soon as possible so they may seek out and rid us of these puking vermin.
ReplyDeleteLobbyist trolls claim only 100 NYU students reside here. There is no NYU interest in PCVST. STR readers posting comments documenting NYU's insatiable real estate grab are fringe lunatics fabricating conspiracies about space aliens stealing their homes. Stop mentioning NYU. There's no story there. There's nothing to see. Move along. Move out!
ReplyDeleteLangone is a noble philanthropist donating millions to charity. Posting links connecting him to multiple scandals is defamation. If the bad publicity doesn't stop his goons will come hunting. We've been warned.
Cuomo and Garodnick are warriors fighting an epic battle defending millions of tenants living in NYC against a dozen billionaires living in Greenwich. Like Silver and Skelos, they gladly accept incredible amounts of money showered on them from REBNY, RSA, Speyer, Brookfield, Litwin, Langone, etc., but unlike Silver and Skelos, incredible amounts of money cannot buy them. We know they are not for sale and would never accept millions from billionaires requiring them to help a few billionaires take valuable property rights worth scores of billions away from millions of their constituents. Right now our tenant heroes are fighting an uphill battle to raise luxury decontrol from $2,500 to $2,700. If they succeed we should celebrate their tremendous victory saving affordable housing with parades awarding them our votes. Anyone failing to appreciate their superhuman efforts protecting us is selfish, narrow minded, spoiled, lazy, ungrateful, never satisfied, hateful...
TA - Let's not get started.
It's going to be a long summer and the media loves shit like this. Start a "Stuy Town Gone Wild" YouTube channel.
ReplyDeleteThe media doesn't give a flying fuck about us. They know too well what goes on here and no one reports nor investigates it. Every ask why??????????
ReplyDeleteTA....LOLOLOLOLOL...as if there is a tenants association here. Please! That's a good one. That's like saying Dan Garodnick isn't owned by the REBNY.
ReplyDeleteJune 8, 2015 at 7:21 PM
ReplyDeleteDo you know why the big cover up and silence from the media? Aside from the very long list of dirty hands in the deal, what else is there?
Just about everybody I speak to and mention where I live, has heard of Stuyvesant Town and that it has become a nasty college dorm. It is no secret. When I was in the hospital recently, the doctors and nurses had all heard about what a shitty dorm it was and were sympathizing! BTW, I was in NYU/Langone! Curses on the second part of the name!
ReplyDeleteYeah even some who worked in the management office during the CW years were shocked at the horrible things they were doing to this beautiful property. They no longer work here.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I guess the TA ignored the call to "be serious damn it" by ignoring Stuyvesant Town issues while focusing on city-wide issues. Also their office bunker is hideous.
