Your ST vehicles, to include PS mopeds, are heading in the direction AGAINST NYC traffic laws and almost ran into me again! Which way do you want pedestrians to look? Both ways? And walk slowly so as not to get hit? Maybe it's best if we wear twinkling bright lights to be noticed easier by your vehicles and those bike riders?
Also the bicycle rule around the Oval is gone once the sun is down. Even when the sun is up, it is a problem You know this, and what are you going to do about it???
TA, too, what a disaster you are! Speak up and say something! Speeding bicycles, ST vehicles, dog shit are a constant problem, and you know it, too. But you say NOTHING.
STR, the "TA" is just an arm of Management. It is not a tenants' association any more and should not even be using the moniker "Tenant Association." It is not useless and ineffectual because of lack of funds (ha!) or manpower or because of prevailing laws that it cannot counter. It is deliberately and strategically obstructive to anything that is not to Management's liking. It is a political entity at this point and should not be considered as anything other than that.
ReplyDeleteThe unlawful and life-threatening behavior of the bicycle riders golf carts, etc., is all part of Management's overt display of "FUCK YOU!" to tenants who are subjected to the threats to life and limb.
Rick whatsisname is a nothing and a nobody. He has no power and not even any desire to enforce the rules he claims to endorse and he will go the way of Sean Sullivan. I'm surprised he has lasted this long.
TA lost any remaining credibility when Susan Steinberg ( while preening for the TV cameras) has the sheer audacity to announce what a great deal the TA and the politicians made with Blackstone - this after several years of promising tenant ownership.
ReplyDeleteThe TA knows they are a disaster, but they don't care. IF they cared, they would have meetings that didn't focus on politicians and management.
ReplyDeletei often wonder who is part of the ta now. since no one speaks up or does any work for us, are there 3 people, 2? 1?
ReplyDeleteAgain, if it was me I would take pride in my position here and enforce the rules that I've set. I wouldn't care about "the bottom line," and not walk softly because the paying customers (the few of them) might protest. From what I see, things have gotten out of hand. And I see things all the time.
ReplyDeleteAnd taking pride in one's position indicates that you, not the residents who live here, nor the TA, are on top of what is happening here. It should not be that I or a resident should keep his/her eyes open for dog shit or speeding bicycles. This should be a priority for ME, because I take pride in my work.
ReplyDeleteThe Recent TA survey could have been leverage for gains for residents instead they handed the analysis and interpretation and PR to Rick with a bow on top and let Blackstone write the narrative.
ReplyDeleteI just saw Susan walking around the property like she owns the place. She is a disgrace to this place, along with Garodnick.
ReplyDeleteThe TA is buckling. The way you know is Steinberg asking for money. They've ducked all the politically divisive issues and are focusing on MCIs but if mgt resists, you need money to do that and the TA is probably getting close to being broke.
ReplyDeleteAbout Hayduk...maybe it's starting to come apart for him too. Is there anyone here who is okay with all mgt policies...who likes the dog, bike, partitioning, student policies combined. I don't think so.
So Hayduk was hired to bring peace to the valley. Seemed like a nice guy at first. Says he listens...blah, blah, blah. But then people start seeing that when it comes to 'listening', some things that they really care about are not negotiable.
And when they get mad about these things, old Rick goes into his nice guy routine and tries to put them to sleep. Also, he's trying to compensate by being responsive in non-contentious areas. Like...grounds maintenance or service repairs, providing ample heat or responding to laundry room reports.
It's just matter of time before people come to expect these things and start complaining about all the other, more contentious issues.
The TA Facebook report on the important meeting is like reading a Bizzaro comic!
ReplyDelete>>They've ducked all the politically divisive issues<<
ReplyDeleteNot the way I read the TA Facebook report. Come Tuesday, expect Dan to be out there.
Of course, not this Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Duane's finger in the air (many times).... BS, again.
ReplyDeleteSTR, do you mean Tom Duane? Wasn't he the guy who never showed up for any TA meetings and then waltzed off to do something else. A nasty arrogant prick among other things.
ReplyDelete"Also, he's trying to compensate by being responsive in non-contentious areas. Like...grounds maintenance or service repairs, providing ample heat or responding to laundry room reports."
ReplyDeleteThese issues are important and he should be responsive to them. That's his job. However, he should also be responsive to the other issues, e.g., how dangerous the property has become for anybody simply WALKING through it (especially the very young and the elderly) because of speeding bikes, segways, mopeds, golf carts, etc. Then there is also the issue of nasty dogs who attack other dogs AND the dog shit that is all over the place. Add to that the hooting, screaming students and their hard-partying .... it just goes on. The man has a lot to deal with and probably it would be a good idea if there were two of him! I don't envy him his job, but he took it and is no doubt handsomely compensated. If he would take a tough stance on the serious quality of life issues he would no doubt piss off some people, but so many more of us would admire and respect him.
"TA lost any remaining credibility when Susan Steinberg (while preening for the TV cameras) has the sheer audacity to announce what a great deal the TA and the politicians made with Blackstone - this after several years of promising tenant ownership."

History
All TA claims about "tenant ownership" were false. Garodnick-TA conceived a phony "tenant led purchase" scheme delivering 100% PCVST ownership and multiple billion dollar windfalls to Brookfield investing $25 Million supporting and cheerleading Speyer's failed business plan booting the middle class out of PCVST. In a major conflict of interest, PCVST board members entered into a formal business partnership with Brookfield, a major REBNY predator showering millions of $$$$ on NYS/NYC politicians ordering them to outright kill, or at the very least maintain, RS on a death march. Garodnick-TA promoting futile bus trips to Albany begging Speyer's lapdog and Garodnick's mentor Cuomo to defend RS are a tremendous insult to PCVST middle class residents. Did Brookfield pay for the futile bus rides?
At a time when PCVST residents did not need a phony partner, Garodnick-TA were executing a scam wherein residents would be tricked into needlessly purchasing the entire PCVST complex, including their homes, for Brookfield. PCVST residents would own NOTHING. Brookfield would own EVERYTHING. Thereafter, any possibility of individual unit ownership would be restricted to only the highest earning (mostly "victorious" Roberts class litigants paying highest rents with vanishing RS protections)PCVST residents forced to buy their homes back from Brookfield at a "fair" or "reasonable" market price much higher than the price they paid needlessly buying their homes for Brookfield. Speyer's business plan raking in multiple billion dollar windfalls booting the middle class out of PCVST would be successfully realized by Brookfield.
Want to know if Brookfield is still lurking around PCVST?
Start by asking TA board members about the current status of their formal business partnership with Brookfield continuing to shower millions of $$$$ on our elected politicians ordering them to kill RS protecting the PCVST TA board members' neighbors/constituents. Does that tremendous PCVST TA Board conflict of interest remain in effect?
One nice moist dog shit right on the sidewalk near playground 10.
ReplyDeleteLove this place.
>>STR, do you mean Tom Duane?<<
ReplyDeleteYes, him!
would pay to know how many bro and hoe residents are in Rick's building! I bet he's on the top floor, with no shit over him.
ReplyDeletepost all this stuff on YELP. the public needs to know what goes on here. Awake since 6 am since the shit hits the fan and every weekend someone moving in and out and partying in the hall. Retain lawyers people.
ReplyDeleteA sting of dog shit, not picked up, on the way (loop) to the back entrance of the new management office. Thank you, Rick and Blackstone.
ReplyDeleteBTW, your new signs are working wonderfully. The dogs really love them!
ReplyDeleteOctober 29, 2016 at 1:30 PM that is so true. It is a Ric Clark Mitch Rudin Brookfield and Mayor Bloomberg three term legacy plan that requires clearing out rent stabilized homes. Rudin worked for Tishman then later partnered with Tishman. The Brookfield TA plan is absolutely still in motion in Stuyvesant Town with the TA doing Brookfield's foot work and the deal for tenants is dreadful (unless you are Roberts). See ike Bloomberg's Youtube channel.

ReplyDeleteTake a look at this place from 1000 feet up and it looks great. Come back to ground level and you have pee stains, dog shit, noise and bikes.
Take back all the phony landscaping, new security system, crappy signs, dumb amenities, dogs and bikes. The quality of life here 20 years ago was far superior to what it is today.
"Take back all the phony landscaping, new security system, crappy signs, dumb amenities, dogs and bikes. The quality of life here 20 years ago was far superior to what it is today."
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth!! This place has been raped and pillaged and it shows!
2 45 post this on Yelp and other SM. Str only goes so far. Complain where it counts - tell the world what it is like inside our buildings. Audio the fucked up noises we're subjected to. My daughter can't even study these days - the neighbor above has no decency and refuses to carpet - and stuy says he has. THEY LIe. they lie. they lie. so you move out and they get more money.
ReplyDeleteSo I am assuming that it's okay for people to have their blankets splayed out in front of the fountain on a nice day? Just as I assume, by now, that despite the signs, it is okay to ride a bicycle around the Oval. Thanks, Rick and Blackstone! I love this place!
ReplyDeleteOctober 30, 2016 at 3:47 PM
ReplyDelete"Ain't that the truth!! This place has been raped and pillaged and it shows!"
Raped and pillaged by the politicians who put on a show and tell at the important TA meeting.
According to NYU all housing with undergrads must have a security officer stationed in the lobby. That includes the buildings in Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town that have undergrads as the woman attacked for her phone in the Stuyvesant Town lobby.
ReplyDeleteWill investigate, but Blackstone believes it can do anything it wants, laws be damned.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time here, I am coming across every day dogs in elevators. Some are small size, but others are definitely not and would go over the 50 pound requirement. Of course, nobody checks their weight, so what's the big deal? Our predictions are coming true. More dogs brings in even more dogs. And Rick has two himself! Dogs and dog shit or markings are now a part of life in STPCV, and there's no getting around it. Take a look at the entrances to PCV apartments, which once were a beacon of loveliness that left us in Stuy Town jealous. No more, as these entrances are urine stained galore with dog piss. Good going, Rick and Blackstone. You made us who want to live here decently feel like strangers. But, guess what. I ain't moving!
ReplyDeleteAnd you ask again, where is the TA on this? It nice to have your important meetings and invite all the politicians you can, and Rick himself, but don't you think you have to be more aggressive???
ReplyDeleteas much as the dogs are annoying the head of me, and to be honest, i don't like them much constant barking. there is not much we can do and frankly I have bigger issues with residents and mci and high rent.
ReplyDeleteOctober 30, 2016 at 7:20 PM Because they put politicians in offices who will never hold them accountable for anything they do and that includes a lot of Blackstone money "donated" in the DA office.
ReplyDeleteThis is off topic but it is too funny not to share. Politicians, developers and union bosses taking turns congratulating themselves on how great they themselves are while they make themselves richer. LOL What a bunch of putzes
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcffCUvxxLM
The floors and the noise problem are intentionally made worse every day by Blackstone. I repeat, intentional.
ReplyDeleteEvery time a tenant moves out the floors are heavily stripped decreasing the layer between you and those below you. There are materials that can be used to eliminate noise but Blackstone refuses to use it. the floor and ceiling of those below you is so thinned by now you can hear every fart, sneeze, conversation, sex and sound.
It would seem that the ultimate goal is for management to not keep tenants around for more than one year, therefore Rick and BS can continue to raise the legal rent, even on high priced units. In fact, they are more focused on having market rate tenants move out now.
I have not pass a post because it is too strong! Again, I ask a certain moderation, at least when names are mentioned.
ReplyDeleteThey strip the walls to October 31, 2016 at 7:41 AM. We never heard our neighbors before but now after renovation we hear everything they say and do.
ReplyDeleteEventually, the floors will become so thin from all the scraping and traffic that they will probably start to cave in. The wear and tear on the infrastructure and the buildings, in general, is bound to hasten their demise.
ReplyDeleteToo bad we live in a city where greedy developers and the politicians they own get away with flouting all of the laws that ensure tenant safety.
Did the TA publish minutes or a report on the very important meeting? I don't see anything on their web site.
Another move out in the apartment next door. That makes about 6 in 6 years. Not sorry to see this group go--noisy dog and lots of door slamming. It has become a revolving door student apartment. And the beat goes on.
ReplyDeleteYou can't even make this up. Seen: a PS guard on a moped and right behind him a female civilian riding a bicycle to keep up with the moped to her front. Around the Oval! You either laugh or cry....
ReplyDeletePS has become a bad joke. Management should fire McClellen and get somebody competent to do the job.
ReplyDelete6 in 6 years? No way, is that fake?
ReplyDeletewe have 6 in 6 months!
11:49 AM: an apartment on my floor can beat yours! In the last few years it has changed hands at least 10 times. Sometimes the tenants only stay for a few months. I haven't seen any furniture coming or going in a few years, so I am thinking it is a management-run long-stay hotel. I see people coming and going with rolling luggage and sometimes there are occupants who don't speak a word of English. Pretty much speaks for itself, wouldn't you say?
ReplyDeleteAmusing that management saw fit to put stickers on all the doors warning people not to let in strangers, but every door has a hook on it so it can be held wide open for hours on end.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I found the door propped wide open three different times. But hey, it's not like anyone's ever gotten robbed or assaulted here in the hallowed halls of Stuy Town!
11:11 - no! Someone asked about a video of the meeting on the FB page, and "Peter Stuyvesant" said no. HOW can the largest TA in America have no video or meeting minutes?
ReplyDelete"Another move out in the apartment next door. That makes about 6 in 6 years."
ReplyDelete-----
We are born and raised NYC residents living in PCV for 24 years. Very quickly after moving in we realized that - no exaggeration - literally everything good we'd heard about PCVST and the historic middle class community inhabiting it was true. This place was not just another fantastical, semi-true, semi-fictional NYC legend. The legend was fact. Like most PCVST residents, we decided to live here for the rest of our lives.
During our 14-year residency before Speyer, one (1) senior couple resided in an adjoining 2 BR apartment. During that time period only one (1) apartment on the floor turned over. During the 10-year period after Speyer at least 40-45 loud, nonstop partying students and post grads churned through the adjoining apartment with not a single continuous tenancy lasting more than 1-2 years.
Speyer-Bloomberg tried to kill PCVST and failed.
Garodnick-De Blasio resurrected Speyer's catastrophe, successfully killing it.

Blackstone packing transients into PCVST insults PCVST residents:
https://town-village.com/2016/10/31/30th-st-shelter-resident-arrested-in-connection-with-robberies-in-kips-bay-and-near-stuy-town/#more-13764
"Rick Hayduk, general manager of Stuyvesant Town, later said that in one of the aforementioned incidents in the complex, the creep managed to “piggyback” his way inside building. In the second incident, the victim had held the door for the suspect when she went inside her building and once they were in the elevator, he demanded her phone ... He said there would be an alert sent to residents to remind them not to open the door for people they don’t know ... “Don’t let anyone come in behind you. It’s not rude,” said Hayduk"
Hey Rick! Notwithstanding 13 PCT doing you a favor reducing PCVST crime stats, the following is a robbery.
"Hayduk mentioned that there was also another attempted robbery in the complex ... a 16-year-old resident rode his bicycle into the 20th Street Loop and locked it to a pole before entering the terrace side of 18 Stuyvesant Oval. A mugger then followed him as he went inside and they both got onto an elevator. That’s when the mugger demanded the victim’s backpack. The resident turned it over but then followed the suspect as he went back into the lobby. The mugger then told the teen, “I know you have drugs in here,” while rifling through his bag. He then dropped it though and fled ..."
The mugger tossing a forcibly stolen backpack to the ground after rifling through it and finding nothing worth keeping did not reduce the crime.
every day someone waits outside our building, i live on M in pc, to be let in. so one dude got really snotty about it, as i was not holding the door for him.
ReplyDeletei said, there's a sign on eh door, dont hold for ..... he said, that sign? it's 4 x 4 postcard, who can even read it ,
he laughed and waited. An tween who lives here held it for him not 4 minutes later.
We did not have this high level of crime during the Metlife years. It was not until
ReplyDeleteTishman Speyer and Brookfield came in and now Blackstone that the crime rate skyrocketed.
Tonight another group of college sisters moving out with their crap. What a pigsty this has become. Every day there are at least 3 moving vans in the loop at one time. I am so sick of Blackstones lame e-mails. Got another noise one today. As if they care if these transients have carpets or slam doors. who are they kidding!
ReplyDeleteThere has to be a reason Rick won't put down carpets for new tenants or require. The owners are spending millions on plants, pumpkins and outside of the pig, but not inside.
ReplyDeleteHas to be a reason since it is blatantly obvious at this point in time.
So I am walking my dog this morning at 5:30am and was almost hit by a car IN THE OVAL!
ReplyDeleteYes, an UBER was driving around the oval!!! How he got there, I have no idea.
He then drove past the barricades to a building off the 20th street loop.
There was no security in the booth for me to go to.
Again, an uber was driving around the oval!!!!!!
gotta post photos of this stuff. new victims need to know. We moved in this past august. wish to God we'd known.
ReplyDeleteCars drive around the roads in Peter Cooper all the time. It isn't hard for them to fit in between the posts on peter cooper road that security drives in between. Until security stops driving all over the place, cars will continue to follow suit.
ReplyDeleteRick should post signs informing everyone that driving cars on the Oval is limited to residents and their guests.
ReplyDeleteSelf Enforcement
Situation Resolved
Is anyone bothered by the placing of new signage instructing that cyclists ride slow and turn their lights on at night invokes Section 4-07 (c) (3) of the NYC Administrative code allowing cycling on the sidewalks where signage allows? Along with the elimination of the previous signage that was posted on the Oval of Section 19-176 that prohibited cycling on our sidewalks, enforceable by fines and confiscation of said cycle, management has changed their policy and is inviting cycling on the walkways of PCVST by posting this signage.
ReplyDeleteEven more dangerous in allowing cyclists is the refusal of all parties to enforce subdivision (k) of Section 10-157, on the "supposedly" safe sidewalks of our community which states:
"A business using a bicycle for commercial purposes shall not possess any motorized scooter and shall not permit any [employee of such business] person to operate such a motorized scooter on behalf of such business."
Why does our City Council even bother to make any laws that address our safety when other interests can simply ignore them with no consequence?
Speed bumps randomely placed especially with the elderly and small dogs about. Want to know why landlord won't do it? Too busy with pretty pumpkins and tree pruning. Stuytown spent over 10 million on flowers.
ReplyDelete"Why does our City Council even bother to make any laws that address our safety when other interests can simply ignore them with no consequence?" Because the City Council is owned body and soul by the Developers and REBNY. Thank God for term limits so they can't do any more damage after their second term is up. I hope we don't have another Christine Quinn-type who will sell herself (for nothing, it turned out) to allow a powerful mayor to buy an illegal third term. One local I will be voting against on Tuesday is Maloney. She MUST go!!!!
ReplyDeleteALL the signs we have been seeing for the last many months are disingenuous, smoke and mirrors and Orwellian doublespeak.
ReplyDeleteThe intent is clear: destabilize, disrupt, destroy.
Blackstone is among the most predatory and harmful entities depriving people of homes in this entire country. Research them.
Everyone who observes that massive protests are necessary is correct.
And whomever posted that we have "no balls" is likewise correct.
ReplyDeleteNo balls at all.
Hey, you with the balls, what do you suggest we do?
ReplyDelete11: 22, well if you have to ask, you know. Grow a pair.
ReplyDeleteNovember 2, 2016 at 6:48 PM Residents ONLY or Residents and Guests (who must be accompanied in the vehicle by a Resident).
ReplyDeleteRent strike. Escrow account into which we deposit monthly rent. THAT is taking meaningful action.
ReplyDeleteThey are busily cleaning and preparing the apartment next door to me for a new group of transient students. Got rid of the dog yapping and the door slammers but shudder to think of what is coming in next. Churn!Churn!Churn!
ReplyDelete11:47 ya. Over and above us too.
ReplyDeleteIn 510 East 23 St. - they are simultaneously working on 2 adjacent apartments on the 14th floor!!! What's the story with this ??? The posted construction schedule lists the completion date as MARCH!!!! They started at the end of October. Are they connecting the 2 apartments??? Are they making a duplex?? Building a pool?? ( joke). Very strange. I feel for the people on that floor & the nearby areas. It will be a long winter on the 14th floor & beyond.
ReplyDeleteBe careful what you wish for. After the students moved out a bunch just moved next door to me speaking a foreign language and putting a sticker up on their door already which I find offensive. They look like a cult and do not look like "luxury housing" tenants. I don't know what this management is renting to anymore. They warehoused that apartment in less than ten days. I will be watching closely.
ReplyDeletei know, my building! and when the fuck will the the VA pounding end - beep beep beep all hours of the day and early too. i love the VA but stop the madness.
ReplyDeletewait, what kind of sticker?
ReplyDeleteStickers are not allowed, according to the House Rules, for the very reason that some may be offensive. Take a pic of the sticker and send it to Management and see what they say. I think Management is running a short-stay hotel business here, I really do.
ReplyDeleteI think that the group next door to me is being funded by some kind of foreign religious institution. They have a God Save Us Jesus sticker on the door which they put up before they even moved in. There were about 8 of them moving in but nobody slept in the apartment last night. I am in a wait and see pattern , but I have a feeling it is some sort of group that has to be financially supported. As I said, I am not going to jump to conclusions, but I have a bad feeling that they will be running something out of that apartment. Management does not care who they rent to, as long as they are paid.
ReplyDeleteno short term hotels here, they dont need to. they just rent to whomever and whatever and they in turn rent to whomever they want. it is a fantastic air bNb place.
ReplyDeleteand when and if the owners want to EVICT, good luck in NY, it takes years. Remember we're all pro tenant here. now it's biting us in the ass.
November 11, 2016 at 6:07 PM They are building suites for 31 day hotel stays. Thanks to our local politicians that is legal.
ReplyDeleteWhere?
ReplyDeleteHow large is the apartment with the 8 people cult in it? If this is true, then Management really needs to be outed for allowing this. They are totally misusing the usage purposes of this property and violating New York City and State laws. I wonder if the Tenants Association is aware of this? If Management is renting apartments at 31-day hotels they are breaking the law and there should be repercussions.
ReplyDeleteDon'twe have any aspiring journalists around here who would know the chanels to go through to out these illegal practices? We know Garodnick doesn't care what Management does because he ceased to care about anything to do with the property after the Brookfield deal fell through.
Nov. 13 at 6:11- WHAT ??? Is that accurate??? Can't be. If that's true, we are in deep trouble. Hotel suites???? OMG.
ReplyDeleteDon't know how many people actually live in the apartment yet. Will be watching to see who goes in and out and what they are using the apartment for. Management can care less. They are renting out to crap.
ReplyDeletehmmmm God save us Jesus is offensive to whom? you?
ReplyDeleteAny sticker on an outside door that is religious or political is offensive to me. People should not be advertising their views on outside doors.
ReplyDelete"hmmmm God save us Jesus is offensive to whom? you?"
ReplyDeleteWouldn't be offensive to me and I am in no way religious. Sick of all the censorship in the name of "political correctness" or "secularism." People can express themselves in whatever way they please so long as it doesn't impinge on someone else or isn't vulgar. If someone put a sticker saying "Grab them by the pussy" or "hate muslims/jews/christians/buddhists" I would be offended.
"Any sticker on an outside door that is religious or political is offensive to me. People should not be advertising their views on outside doors."
ReplyDeleteBad job about you, poor baby.
Personally not finding that sticker 'offensive'.
ReplyDeleteWhen ISIS post a sticker, get offended. Until then, live and let live.
ReplyDelete640 PM agreed.
ReplyDelete
