Stuy Town, Wednesday, May 24

I don't know if this is it, but the benches were "cleaned" around the Oval Fountain:

This is what greets me in the morning, among other things....

Update: May 25, about lunch time and since the morning:

  1. They should just abandon recycling in this shit hole. Nothing in those bins will be recycled.

  2. I am not going to bash the staff, because from my experience the porters do an impeccable job in doing their best in terms of the upkeep of the property (obviously there are exceptions!). Like with public safety, the long-term porters/groundskeepers are faced with the same factors as security, a skyrocketing population and reduced staff.

It's impossible to keep this place clean and safe when staff numbers stay the same but there are as many as 10,000 more people. These are the issues we see on a daily basis, the infrastructure is a whole different ballgame.

  3. The one thing i could get behind is PS investigating and fining tenants who (or their german airbnb "guests") drop bags of leaky garbage in the recycling area. Also the lazy mofos who won't break down their frigging boxes.

I'll add it to the sidebar, too.

  5. The porter in my building does a great job. It is a losing battle dealing with these slobs who live here, many of whom are short term tenants(a year or less).

  6. With all the terrorism going on in the world, you would think Blackstone would be a bit more careful about who it rents to and who some of those Airbnb people really are. Every other country in the civilized world has major security in place (and NYC does too, except on this property), but Blackstone lets this place be used and abused by thousands of people who just use it as a toilet and temporary flophouse. The property is overcrowded, understaffed and totally devoid of serious security.

I remember years ago, there was an IRA cell here and, unbeknownst to tenants at the time, the Feds were installed and watching and waiting and did, in fact, arrest the tenants. All with the help and cooperation of MetLife. ISIS could set up a cell here and not even be subtle about it and Blackstone would only care if they paid the rent because Blackstone doesn't care about anything except money.

  7. I too have thought of the way Blackstone does not screen tenants. Anyone, including an Isis terrorist could rent here. This place is open to anything. It is already a flophouse dump and it could get worse if they do not screen tenants.

  8. I think Blackstone is a major player in the dark network of oligarchy that is aligned with Putin and helped put the useful idiot in the WH. Blackstone is not a good actor and democracy and freedom are not values it cherishes.

  9. This place is a slum. Garbage all over the place. There must be a million people living here, crammed in their jail cells. Can't wait to get outta this dump. It's really bad around here
and its NEVER going to get better. NEVER!!

  10. These pictures indicate that you people live in slum conditions. I am going to reconsider
    signing a lease. Cheers.

How's the Dog Blue Tag Lanyard Rule going?
    Real strict enforcement, huh?
About as stringent as the 80% carpet rule.
    I don't think so.
    What a joke.

  19. The politicians had a simple choice in Stuyvesant Town.

    Public Service Benefitting Constituents
    A. Protect our quality of life by putting our homes in our hands with a co-op plan

Private Service All Profits Go To Political Pals
    B. Demolish our quality of life by putting our homes in the hands of profit-seeking developers who are members of the Mayors administration programs (The James Foundation, Blackstone Foundation, Tishman Speyer, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Citibank Citi Foundation and whatever other "foundations" are lurking about).

Politicians chose B, the tax-evading foundations seeking profits instead of their constituents.

The Mayors Fund to Advance NY advances themselves and developers, not New Yorkers.

    www.nydailynews.com/new-york/de-blasio-4-3m-plot-target-donors-city-business-article-1.2905101

"For the choreography of commercial and residential landlords, Brookfield often needs City Hall approval for zoning changes and tax-exempt financing for affordable housing construction. In early 2015, the firm broke ground on one such project, 790-unit Manhattan West, which includes 158 affordable apartments.

Three weeks later, according to her official calendars, Deputy Mayor Glen spoke by telephone with Brookfield’s then-chairman, the late John Zuccotti, at 8:30 a.m. on March 27, 2015. That same day, Brookfield Properties wrote its check to Campaign for One New York."

    De Blasio’s donors
"Two Trees, Brookfield and Toll Brothers are among the supporters shelling out the most for mayor’s non-profit" using children's causes "Pre-K" as a masquerade for big RE to give big donations circumventing the limits.

Sorry, mate, but you have just learned the hard way that this landlord is only interested in your rent money, not in your happiness or comfort. Hope you only signed a one year lease.

  22. "Landlord might have informed us. $4900 for this per monthly." Sorry mate, you were had. You don't think they are taking the piss when they rent this dump at that price? How many room mates do you have?

  23. I have a name and more info, which is always good. Either tonight or tomorrow.

BTW, I did see a PS officer (whom I've not seen before) standing at the corner of 1st Ave and the loop (South), but I also saw someone texting and standing around with luggage at our favorite location on 14th St and Ave A, our side.

  24. And, yes, the property still looks like shit.

  25. New Mate- You are hearing the construction trucks backing up as they work on the flood wall at the VA Hospital across the street. Been going on for 2 years!!! They used to start at 5 am. They were fined , so now they start at 7 am. If you have your AC running , it should help. Not sure how close you are to the craziness!!! Good luck. Welcome to the neighborhood.

  26. The property looks like crap. The plantings in front of my building are drying up and dying.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The property looks like crap because management is crap. Bill Potter and a bunch of little old ladies, plus the groundsmen and qualified, skilled maintenance staff, used to run this property like greased clockwork AND turned a profit.

Now, we are in the hands of Sleaze and Corruption, Inc., and it shows.

  28. Is there a reason the soccer coaches in the oval scream use louder screaming voice than a drill Sargent? Do they realize people live around the 'soccer field'?

  29. He may have one roommate or none. how many do you have??????????

    ReplyDelete
  30. "He may have one roommate or none. how many do you have??????????"

None, but if I was paying $4,900 per month for rent I would have to have at least two. If I could afford to pay that kind of rent without a roommate I sure as hell would NOT rent here!

    Screw you Rick Whyaduck.

  32. This place is nastier and dirtier than the projects. The projects get better while this dump gets worse.

  36. The hostile, violent guy upstairs moved out over the week-end. after years!!Although you never know who you're getting, I have put up with him dropping weights on my head, loud boots at 1-3 Am in the bedroom, hissy fits every time he heard a noise etc. etc. I feel like I can breathe again with this self important entitled pr--k gone. The train always comes into the statin eventually but I've recently started checking out long-distance movers myself.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @3:47 PM, sounds like you had a real peachy upstairs neighbor! Just the kind that Blackstone likes and seeks out because such "people" drive out the long-term tenants by their violent and menacing behavior and they make sure that the apartments that are market rate keep on churning. Blackstone and the Gambino family have a lot in common. A lot more than you would care to know.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Blackstone rents to anybody as long as they are paying the market rent, and this usually results in crammed multi tenant dumps. Their goal is to churn, churn, churn.
