New BIG Signs Come to the Oval, But...

Here are some of the signs. You can't miss them. Impossible. Almost intrusive.

I figured that this was a good idea, as some are not seeing the original much smaller signs, or so they say. Plus, it is a shaming sign, so large....  So I waited a few minutes.... Two moving bicycles go by and the people head to Oval Cafe. I decided hell's bells, I may as well ask them why they passed the BIG signs that are now at all points of the Oval. I was nice and just doing my STR duty.

The response: Aside from one of them, the male, getting instantly belligerent, the response was because they, the bicyclists, are "defiant." A few other words were spoken, which I won't get into. ;-)

Anyway, I decided to walk around and check out the other signs. I saw two speeding bicyclists around the Oval, one of whom was a delivery person. The BIG signs were ignored.

Okay, so I'm about to head home and what do I spot? A woman leaving the Oval Fountain area...with her dog.

BIG signs, but I guess they are not working right now.

  1. This place would be much better without any signs stating the rules. If Management and PS are not going to enforce rules, why make the place look worse than it already does with cluttered signs?

I seriously wonder who we have running this place, and how they got their jobs... it's pure incompetence!

  2. My Dog Sh*ts Wherever and Whenever He WantsSeptember 13, 2017 at 4:29 PM

4:15PM, Wednesday, just walked around the Oval to see the new signage.
I saw a little dog, a pomerainian perhaps ,lift its leg and piss all over the NO Dogs Allowed sign. Woman just walked away.
Ten minutes later after completing a loop around the Oval I saw a bigger dog, maybe a german shepard, take a massive shit on the flower bed right by the No Dogs Allowed sign. Owner, a male perhaps in his early 20's, just walked away.
Thank you, Rick, for the rigid enforcement of THE RULES.
hahahaha...would be funny if not so sad.

  3. Pretty sure those "No Dog" signs mean that dogs cannot go in that little area, not the entire oval.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The entire Oval Fountain area is covered by the center sign. But dogs can "go" anywhere at the Oval except that fountain area and dirt-paths on either side of the grass area.

  5. STR
If rules were enforced, dogs would not be allowed in the oval area you mentioned. Because rules are not enforced, dogs and bikes are allowed wherever the hell they want to go.

Those signs are merely to protect themselves when the lawsuits come from people getting hit by bikers.

  6. If people lived here permanently rather than temporarily then there would be no need for signs because everyone would know the rules and have vested interests in the quality of life. The transient nature of the temporary residents requires signs and apparently big signs with big letters cluttered all over the place hitting the transients over the head! Transients are not dummies, they are ignorant. surely there is a better way to educate transients then these big cluttered signs.

  7. Blackstone doesn't listen and doesn't listen... It is simple: Enforce. But Blackstone doesn't. Lots of rules. And now BIG signs you cannot miss. Little enforcement, however.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm surprised that money-hungry Blackstone doesn't dish out fines for infractions.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I agree that that the transient nature of the Pig Stuy contributes to the lack of rule enforcement. These temporary residents could care less and their guests who come in and out are just as bad. No screening if tenants and you get a dump. Rick and company are a farce.

    ReplyDelete
  10. >>I'm surprised that money-hungry Blackstone doesn't dish out fines for infractions.<<

The most important thing is to get bodies into the rooms (live bodies!). Infractions? Not so important when faced with angering a certain portion of tenants. So just signs.

Meanwhile angering another portion of tenants who would like some enforcement? These have to considered "good" tenants that, so Blackstone thinks, will just suck it up in the end.

Bottom line: Enforcement of certain rules is not a priority. That's the truth. If it was....

  11. More signs? Just goes to show you how bad it is around here. It is at the point of sheer ridiculousness! Still waiting for a senior manager to call me back. It's been two weeks now. This place is horrible. Sorry I ever signed a lease here.

  14. No dogs and no bicycles were ever permitted here a while ago. No problems! Now that you want them, you got them, and ALL the headaches they come along with. Message to Management? "Suffer like a dog!!" You are SOO stupid!

  15. Blackstone knows that the only tenants who care about the enforcement of the rules are the tenants who don't break the rules. We are the ones who consider our apartments to be our homes and who would like the property to be maintained in a clean and safe manner. Unfortunately, we are the tenants that Blackstone wants to drive out because we (especially the real RS) are not as profitable as the students and transients.

When I went to the Oval on Saturday to see what was happening with the Pols on Parade, I saw Rick standing around chatting. I also saw many, many AirbnB people rolling their luggage around. I went up to one bunch just to ask them for directions (pretended I didn't know where I was) and they couldn't speak English and were the ones who were actually lost.

Speaking of lost, this place is a lost cause.

Harvard Business School’s Latest Case Study Looks at American Politics and Finds a Rigged System
The political-industrial complex has taken over from American citizens, Harvard study says

The U.S. political system isn’t broken. It’s working exactly the way the two main parties designed it.

That’s the conclusion of a new Harvard Business School study. Authors Katherine Gehl, former president and CEO of Gehl Foods, and Michael Porter, a professor at the school, apply business theory to the U.S. political system and find an industry that works for Democratic and Republican organizations, big donors, pollsters, consultants, partisan think tanks, the media and lobbyists, but ignores most American citizens.

“By nearly every measure, the industry of politics, itself, is thriving,” Ms. Gehl and Mr. Porter said in the report. “There’s just one problem. The people whom the politics industry is supposed to serve have never been more dissatisfied.”

You got that right. A dog could shit on Rick's foot and he wouldn't even notice or even care. He is as bad as so-called PS. They just stand around and do nothing while the bicycles fly around and the dogs shit and piss everywhere and anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Everyone needs to take a look at Rick's email... what a complete laugher about the dogs. I walk my dog through the oval 4-5x a day, and have still yet to see a stop. I also continue to see non-residents cross 1st Ave at 22nd and come on the property right in front of security, and they never stop them.

Nice try Rick, not buying it!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Again, from what I've seen (and I am around the Oval a lot) the bicyclist will get off his/her bike if they are going to pass a PS person. If there is no PS officer around or on the other side of the Oval, then the coast is clear for a speeding bicycle. But also why just bicycles? The other speed demons on skateboards, etc, should also be banned. They go quicker than those bikes many times.

As for dogs and lanyards, despite what is said by PS and Rick, I've not seen ONE stop for a lanyard check. Remember, it's not just a check but a non-resident and his/her dog should be escorted off the property.

    ReplyDelete
  23. >>I also continue to see non-residents cross 1st Ave at 22nd and come on the property right in front of security, and they never stop them.<<

This flaunting of the rules happens all the time there. The dog owner can trip over a PS person, and he or she won't be stopped. I believe Barry Shapiro confirmed that those inside that big booth along 1st Avenue are told not to stop anyone without a lanyard.

  29. As a management professional, I can confirm one thing, and that is that Rick and the SPS only care about one thing - the bottom line. If decreasing QOL (but keeping things just borderline legal) means increasing the bottom line, they will 100%. Churning apartments increases the bottom line, so that will not change anytime soon. Until their bottom line is affected, do not expect any changes. Unfortunately that's reality.

  30. The Harvard Study is right on the mark.

    The BIG PICTURE
Why Property Services Gives Lip Service

NY politicians are giving inside scoop on developers NYC master blueprint to their close wealthy friends while aiding developers special interests in land grabs and give aways to replace all current residents, communities with wealthier neighborhoods. Our gripes will fall on heads with deaf ears that frame lying eyes and grins.

The politicians close friends know long before the public is made aware about billion dollar developer projects and have been buying up surrounding real estate knowing it will sharply increase once the billion dollar hotel goes up on the East 14th street STPCV site and the multi-million dollar concert Diller event space goes up on the W 14th street Pier thus creating downtown billionaires row, like midtown billionaire's row on 59th street.

Are both these billionaire's row (East / West Village and Central Park South) in the same city council district? If so, that is an accomplishment to make REBNY very very happy with their city councilperson. Building 2 Billionaires Rows is quite a developer pleasing feat.

It is no surprise all three politicians with rich friends who have been making out quite well while these politicians are in Public Offices are loudly vocal with their upset about the developers plans changing because the effect of the Diller Island Hollywood on Hudson plan being dead and the Dalian Wanda - Yacht dock Hotel up in the air, their wealthy friends real estate values may not increase as sharply, or as quickly.

Downtown Billionaire Row is a give away to politicians close friends just like all the NYC waterfront, the Yacht dock contracts to the Mayor and Governor close Friend Farkas, the piers - RXR YoungWoo / Bourdain, Durst, Diller Fantasy Island concert party space, One Brookfield former World Trade Center, and of course the soon-to-be dock in PCVST StuyTown that was to be in the front yard of the billion dollar hotel.

There is a master blueprint and model of all developers projects that is shown to foreign investors but kept hidden from the public so the politicians can circumvent the process and cut out Public input. It is no wonder people are losing homes, communities are losing neighborhoods, and politicians are crying wolf about loss of affordable housing while they give away NYC to their wealthy friends.

4 apartments combined into one, 2 townhouses combined into one 14,000 square foot house, and so on. Most of the real estate is being bought up to Television friends of the Mayor and Governor. TV friends who are likely to give an earful to their camera-loving politician friends if their east and west village real estate does not increase their already large wealth. TV friends mostly from 2 corporations:

    1. GE (NBC, Bravo, USA, HBO)
    2. Knoxville Tennessee headquartered Scripps Networks Interactive / Wells Fargo (FOOD NETWORK THE COOKING CHANNEL THE TRAVEL CHANNEL)

The Mayors close friends have been buying up townhouses like this:

    273 and 275 West 11th Street

  31. Part 2
Looking at the photo knowing now what we did not know back then, it is all the more unsettling. They knew the STPCV site was slated for the billion dollar hotel that was announced in 2013. They knew all the residents the campaigning politicians were asking for votes from PCVST were going to be kicked out of their homes so property values could increase for developers and politician's close friends who are buying up real estate around the developer's projects.

Schumer's response is the most troubling and most un-democratic. No matter how large or small your group, everyone has an equal voice in a democracy, or at least they are supposed to. But now we know from the Harvard Study in an earlier comment, some politicians use their office to bully the People for the benefit of "so many" special interests, special friends, lobbyists, and the wealthy.

"Senator Schumer had a sharper-edged response. “For such a small group of people to hold up a public and philanthropic project that would benefit so many is just awful,” Mr. Schumer said."

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/13/nyregion/bill-de-blasio-general-election.html?mcubz=0

It was the morning after a resounding primary victory for Mayor Bill de Blasio, the kind that political mandates are made of, and as luck would have it, the mayor of New York had a tailor-made moment to bask in the glow of electoral success.

    It was not to be.

The political gods had conspired to place Mr. de Blasio on Roosevelt Island on Wednesday, in an uncomfortable white plastic chair in the front row at the opening ceremony of the Cornell Tech campus, alongside Michael R. Bloomberg, his billionaire predecessor, with whom Mr. de Blasio has had an uneasy relationship, and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who has been Mr. de Blasio’s near-constant tormentor.

Speaker after speaker praised Mr. Bloomberg, who had conceived of the tech campus when he was mayor and put the project in motion. But it was Mr. Cuomo who damned the current mayor with not even the faintest of praise.

“Mike Bloomberg had the formula: vision plus confidence plus achievement equals progress,” Mr. Cuomo said. “Mike’s formula was shared by my father Mario Cuomo, who called himself a pragmatic progressive. Think about it. A progressive who gets things done, and gets results.”

The governor did not include Mr. de Blasio, who sees himself as a paragon of progressivism, in his commendations.

And, please . . . before writing any nasty or mean-spirited comments:

It became clear some time ago that the locals in charge here (Hayduk, McClellan, Sabatino, ALL OF THE FOLKS IN "RESIDENTIAL SERVICES," INCLUDING THE LAWYERS), have no authority or ability to improve our lives here to any appreciable degree.

They work for Blackstone. The principals of Blackstone are soul-dead humans, as are nearly all people who are in "finance," banking, real estate, government, politics and dozens of other fields of human endeavor.

If you say, "no" to those who pay your salary, or treat tenants, bank customers, etc. well, you will find yourself without a salary, health care and the ability to feed yourself or others dependent upon you.

Upton Sinclair wrote: "It is hard to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."

NO ONE who works here is the problem. I have been a resident here for decades and I've given any number of management and security folks a very bad time of it. I have learned, though, that they are not the problem.

Very few people I've met in my many years stood up to "bosses" and risked living in poverty or in the streets. Members of my own family did, as did I. We need, though, to stand up and say "no" in exceedingly large numbers to have an effect.

Blackstone in New York is based on Park Avenue and THEY are to blame for the suffering of so many of us on a daily basis.

Do some research about them. They destroy the lives and health of humans all over this benighted planet.

  66. Googled Reuters Bloomberg Schwarzman PART TWO!!!!

On the same list of articles in the same search is this 2016 NY Times piece with Blackstone and BlackRock and their Russian business funds and advisory boards they sit on with Russia much like the Trump board of advisors before it disbanded over Charlottesville.

"Authorities signed up a high-powered board of international advisers to oversee its activities, a group that included American private equity executives like David Bonderman of TPG and Stephen A. Schwarzman of the Blackstone Group."

  67. The links to the birthday parties tell it all. These people care about two things, keeping the money they have and attaining more money on top of what they have. That is it. They did not attain huge wealth because they are smarter than any of us. They attained their wealth because they do not care from where money comes, they game the system and live and act above the law

That is what makes it all the more outrageous that Speyer aggressively attacked this community accusing residents of gaming the system and declaring in the NYTimes he was only going after those gaming the system because he said he wants permanent residents. Bullshit. Hypocrite.

They are the ones gaming the system and the politicians enable them.

  68. McClellan is gone!?

    ReplyDelete
  69. >>There are no differing options here.<<

    Explain, please.

    ReplyDelete
  70. >>McClellan is gone!?<<

    Vacation time most probably.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Is it a coincidence that the premiere 80 acre waterfront property belongs to an NYC Mayor's best friend?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Lots of photos of the garbage dumping inside and out are going up on the TA site and all the TA can do is empathize. Useless organization. This place is becoming a real garbage dump thanks to the demo here

  73. YES, MCCLELLAN IS GONE, AND SEVERAL MONTHS BACK, A SECURITY GUARD STATED BLACKSTONE WAS CONSIDERING ELIMINATING PUBLIC SECURITY ENTIRELY.

If you can find a Security Guard who is brave enough, or angry enough, or disgusted enough, they will educate you about how they are prevented from enforcing rules, how they are ordered NOT to do their jobs to an extent that is quite disturbing, about the kind of threat of being fired with which they are abused.

One of our newer guards could tell you quite a story about his job.

Blackstone knows exactly what it is doing, including destroying infrastructure, grounds, community, safety.

Look 'em up, folks. Look up Jonathan Gray and Stephen Schwarzman. Read about how they harass tenants and then evict them. Read about the protest against them in ITALY.

Do some homework. It will convince you, once and for all, of the kind of monster with whom we are dealing.

  74. >>YES, MCCLELLAN IS GONE, AND SEVERAL MONTHS BACK, A SECURITY GUARD STATED BLACKSTONE WAS CONSIDERING ELIMINATING PUBLIC SECURITY ENTIRELY.<<

You may be right, but I have to verify this.

  75. Not surprised that Blackstone tells guards to be passive and look the other way. This is clear to me. Fortunately there are a few who do their jobs anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  76. McClellan is no longer listed on the management page, so maybe he is gone!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I checked, and it is verified. McClellan is gone.

Now the question becomes: Who takes his place?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Rick will take over. He's doing such a great job ruining everything else in this place, why not Security as well??

    ReplyDelete
  79. McClellan was prohibited by Blackstone from doing his job and, according to those who know, marginalized.

The new "chief" might well be one of Blackstone's own minions tasked with inflicting further destruction, greater harm to us.

If that is the case, you can bet your bottom dollar it will be presented under the guise of "protecting" us and the like.

Double-speak, as is the order of the day here and elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  80. As has been suggested by others in previous posts, many times, Rick ain't the problem. He is doing his job.

The Blackstone psychopaths and those who support them by virtue of their psychological, mental and emotional inadequacies and diseases, are the ones doing the damage, coming up with the myriad strategies and practices to hurt us and de-home us!

  81. So if PS is eliminated, it will mean more and more calls to the cops for noise infractions.

    ReplyDelete
  82. The question is was McClellan paid a big retirement package for completing the tasks he was hired for in 2006, sign an nondisclosure agreement or what other reason he departed.

He knows about a lot of the "StuyTown" many skeletons in the landlord closet. As said earlier, that was a very quiet departure. No bon voyage party send-off and no announcement to the community publicly thanking him for his service and wishing him well after 10 years of "service".

    ReplyDelete
  83. >>As said earlier, that was a very quiet departure.<<

    Seen today, gone tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I don't see how this community can be without a PS or police presence.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Some people know why McClellan is gone. And how.

For the rest of us, any educated guesses?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Does the word "departure" mean retirement, resignation, or fired?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Could have been for health reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Whatever you do, don't step in the piss.....it's everywhere.
