Small Favors

TG, that we have those carts that residents can use!

  1. Rules in this place are nonexistent. Rick sends out emails about squirrel rules, but basic tenant decency rules are COMPLETELY ignored. Rick is quickly becoming the worst property manager in the history of this place... but wait, he responds to emails, so he can't be the worst. Give me a break!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Rick doesn't deviate from the company line, whether he responds or not.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Rick and Company represent Blackstone. That is understood. But we also have the TA which should represent tenants. Aside from the predictable MCI response, what has the TA done? Not much.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I don't even bring up the TA anymore, because as far as I'm concerned, they don't exist.

  5. Just so people know, although it has been said differently many times before, I was sitting for a brief while near the Security booth at PCV, along 1st Ave. This was early evening time. I was not there to "watch," but I couldn't help seeing a good number of outsiders with their dogs going into PCV to make a "deposit."

This is one of my primary faults with this place. There seems to be zero or almost zero PS presence to escort these outsiders out of the property. Not my rules, but the rules of Blackstone and Rick. I've spent some time on this issue, even having an angry conversion (ultimately) with the PS office, who, of course, talked of their monitors.

For whatever reason, the dog policy is not enforced.

  6. I've called numerous times and NOTHING, ALWAYS gets done! This place is run poorly.
It's an absolute joke. WAY too many people living here, and going in and out. It's not a safe environment here anymore. It's like a free-for all. Rolling suitcases EVERYWHERE!
Management is well aware what is going on, and really does not care. I've called several times about those carts, and Resident Services says there is nothing they can do. NOTHING THEY CAN DO? That's not the answer I want! I really hate this place.

    ReplyDelete
  7. THe monitors don't do a damn thing with outsiders. You are exactly right STR, PS needs to enforce in person. I highly doubt they are using facial recognition to identify outsiders bringing their dogs in and then sending them warning letters. PS needs to start doing their jobs and stop talking about those crappy monitors.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Nobody cares about anything anymore except about themselves. It's all about me!

    ReplyDelete
  9. >>I highly doubt they are using facial recognition to identify outsiders....<

Even facial recognition won't do it, unless there is enforcement. I see the same people heading into ST/PCV over and over again. Perhaps, just perhaps, they send someone a warning. The next question is how many? And the next, next question is let's see the figures. I'm sure they will answer that they can't show the list to tenants due to "privacy concerns"....

It's such BS that keeps going round and round. That's why a good TA is important.

Anyway, Rick was quite clear about what will be done to those outsiders with dogs. Quite clear. Again, his words not mine.

    ReplyDelete
  10. >>NOTHING THEY CAN DO?<<

If they had the will, there is something they can do. But there is no will. Other than making money and keeping the plants and flowers in nice shape.

    ReplyDelete
  11. As to those laundry carts, Management is not concerned, it seems, as the word is out that those carts will be replaced. So, despite the written warning on the side of the carts, the carts are free to use for anybody! I guess you can take these carts off the property and use them for your company's mail room.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Pot smoking, missing laundry carts, slamming doors, garbage all over the place, banged up doors, students partying everywhere, dog crap all over the place, packages being stolen, etc., etc, etc .... Well that's for sure not Luxury Living. That's called living in the Projects. Rick, you deserved to be fired. How can you run a place like this with so many things that need to be addressed? Collecting six figures a year for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! WOW! Just keep putting on that phony smile, and continue to nod your head and 'yes' us to death. I have had it also.

    ReplyDelete
  13. There is totally no enforcement of any rule here except that you pay your rent. Once you've done that, feel free to do whatever you like. Have a ho-down at 3 am in your uncarpeted apartment, throw your rotting garbage in the recycling bins, steal the laundry carts, rent out your apartment to strangers, take a dump in the stairwell (or at least let your dog do that), smoke pot in the hallways, prop the outside door open so that your friends don't have to buzz to get into the building to attend your party (and you won't hear the buzzer anyway because of the noise of your shrieking, braying party guests), run a brothel out of your apartment, sell drugs (even manufacture them!) in your apartment. Do all those things and I promise you that Management will not ever bother you at all. Just obey the one and only Cardinal Rule (or make sure Momsie and Daddy do) and that is PAY YOUR RENT! Once you've done that, the place is yours to trash. Rick Hayduk endorses this announcement (though he'll never admit it).

    ReplyDelete
  14. This DB should be id'ed and fined the cost of the cart.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Constuct them in the laundry room, a little larger, so they don't fit out the door.

    On, I forgot , that's to logical!

    ReplyDelete
  16. =>>run a brothel out of your apartment<<

Where? I've been meaning to get a happy ending, but I don't want to leave the property.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Good grief. So much hyperbole.

  25. You know, sometimes it can be hazardous to joke. Some people can be so serious.

    ReplyDelete
  26. True, but it's better to keep it clean.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ah, "clean".... Well, sorry but joking about "happy endings" is, or rather, should not destabilize anyone. You may want to read the "real" news about seniors and sex. Some of them do not run away, but rather toward.

I don't see a problem, as this was mentioned, among other things, not by me. Personally, if someone wants to give a "happy ending" to someone else, that is their business. Yeah, we can get real serious and talk about sex slaves, etc. But know that some men (even of the senior variety) would like a happy ending rather than an unhappy one.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's not the clean vs dirty. It's your old habit of saying you were joking when clearly you're weren't. Likewise your nasty contempt for women. Really wish you could tone it down. But I don't thing at this point you can.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It is patently obvious STR was joking.

What is not a joke is the online Sex and Date APPS like Tinder or even ones that are invented right here in StuyTown and whose online businesses and APPS were plugged by these dubious ones, CompassRock and Oval Concierge.

FYI it looks like both these APPS have since been shut down for whatever the reasons.

"The app’s Stuy Town-based founder, Josh Wittman – a financial analyst at Amex who previously launched a cab sharing app – insists its intentions are noble: by doing away with all pre-date messaging, women are spared the “creep factor” of guys sending cock shots or asking for racy photos, and men and women weed out people who are, well, just dicking around online and have no intention of meeting IRL. (Wittman says he’s encountered a lot of this in his own online dating experience.)

That’s the idea behind Dapper, a new matchmaking app that arranges dates at Manhattan nightspots in three easy steps, and then treats you to a “free” drink at them."

    http://bedfordandbowery.com/2014/11/this-tinder-alternative-will-score-you-a-date-with-a-gentleman-no-questions-asked/

According to Town & Village CompassRock gave Josh Wittman's Cab With Me APP a plug on the PCVST Living Website and the service was offered via a business arrangement with "Oval Concierge"

    https://town-village.com/2013/06/04/st-resident-launches-cab-share-service/

Both APPS, Cab With Me started in 2013 and Dapper online "free drinks and meet men" started in 2014 look like they have been shut down. The links lead to nowhere.

"Make 'em moan fo' da' bone and scream fo' da' cream.

  43. Re the carts, I have been on the record at the TA FB page that the only way to stop this stealing of SPS property (because that is what it is, theft) is to equip the carts with electric fence technology (see link) that is over 10 years old. SPS, as has been pointed out, will not invest in this and will just replace the carts as they are stolen. Which leaves tenants SOL when there are hardly any carts available for use. Full disclosure, as I have also pointed out at the TA FB page, I never use the carts to place laundry directly in, I use my own basket which I never leave in the room. The carts are E Coli and vermin traps.

    https://www.geek.com/news/electronic-fences-for-shopping-carts-555102/

O/T for this thread, as per the 9/7/17 T&V, Dist. 4 CC election candidate survey, only Vanessa Aron & Barry Shapiro have gone on the record (not even bothering with Bessie Schahter* whose party believes in zero rent regulation for commercial stores and residential housing) of supporting the Small Business Jobs Survivor Act (SBJSA) . All the rest of the Democratic candidates (in this survey) support the Band-Aid approaches that will do NOTHING to stem the tide of chain stores, vacant storefronts and the closing of the mom and pops. Therefore, my choice will be for Barry Schapiro (see his link which is also on the banner page of this blog) ) who has taken ZERO RE money.

  45. "So what if it his own blog. Grow up everyone and act like respectful adults."

If you insist, Church Mother. But you could start a blog of your own and then you would be in the right to lay down the laws.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Please. Let's stop criticizing STR for what some perceive as his lack of sensitivity and get back to discussing the important matters that this blog was and is all about. If STR wants to make a joke, it's his prerogative because it is HIS blog. If you are so puritanical and uptight, just get over it or go away.

The myriad problems and QOL infractions that we have to put up with in this nasty, dirty, unsupervised dorm are the most important matters. The slimy politicians who are up the ass (too bad if that offends you) of REBNY are our worst enemies and Keith Powers, a very much admired and touted chip off the Garodnick block, is likely to become our next representative on the City Council unless we don't vote for him.
It will be more of the same and then some if he wins the nomination. Because he is the most monied and is supported by the Old Boys Club of Tweeddom, we have much to fear from him. I strongly recommend either voting for Barry Shapiro or Rachel Honig.

Barry is a tenant of PCVST and has shown sensitivity towards the long-suffering tenants of StyDorm. He also has some very good ideas regarding the halting of the decimation of small businesses in favor of mega-stores that are turning New York into Sunrise Highway. If you don't want more of the same ole same ole, don't vote for a parasitic lobbyist who will deliver more of the same ole same ole. Vote for Barry Shapiro. We have been Garodnicked to death over the last 12 years and it's been as if Bloomberg never left.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The Keith Powers people are out in full force along Stuy Town, including Powers himself. At this point, with the intrusion into the buildings by his workers, it can be considered spamming. Of course, most people who vote will not examine carefully, and will just vote for him because they "heard" of him. He should lose based on all this spamming and a "war chest" that, I believe, is the greatest of the people running to replace Garodnick. (And don't forget the hefty raise given to themselves by the City Council.)

Don't worry, though. If he wins, I will be there.

  50. Am I the only one that has a major major problem with one of our council candidates being on the TA board?? I am concerned that he hasn't already publicly given up his seat on the board, and see this as nothing more than the continuation of the shady relationship between the TA and our current councilman. The TA needs to back away from the politicians, otherwise nobody will ever trust them again.

Btw, the posts reminded me that the property really was much worse when TS reigned over us. It may not be perfect now, but it is so much better than it was when TS were busy driving it into the ground and terrorizing the RS tenants.

  56. The TA=Powers connection is obvious to those who look, despite the refrain that the TA does not endorse anyone. "Firm uses loophole to secretly donate $60G to de Blasio campaign, lobbying records show

Constantinople & Vallone has a reputation as a powerful lobbying firm that gets its clients access to City Hall — but what’s not so well known is that it has helped steer $60,900 in campaign donations to Mayor de Blasio.

A loophole in the city’s campaign-finance law has allowed the firm to stay under the radar as a fund-raiser for the mayor, the Daily News has learned.

The only way to know that Constantinople & Vallone has raised so much money for de Blasio is through obscure filings with the City Clerk’s Lobbying Bureau."

    http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/firm-loophole-secretly-donate-60g-de-blasio-campaign-article-1.3483516

    and this:

The Daily News reported the foundation — which has been represented by powerful lobbying firm Constantinople & Vallone — got $1.88 million in city contracts in the past year despite a string of criminal charges against employees, city probes and bad performance evaluations.

The group has twice been penalized for losing a child on a field trip, and is currently being investigated for payroll discrepancies and conflicts of interest.

Sports and Arts is set to receive 12 new grants, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, from 12 different Council members, according to the budget documents.

  58. I'm not taking photos, but this morning in my walk I couldn't help but see near one of the Oval buildings a massive dog dump. Several--no, make that a lot--of trails. Thank you, Blackstone and Company, and our own PS, for being so observant and on top of the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anyone hear the commotion at 18SO last night? The Citizen app reports a possible explosion at that building, but there is no follow up.

This worries me, because I called Security last week to report a small gas odor, and nobody came. I eventually called fdny, and they came - still without security. A gas explosion is in the cards for the very near future for this place, and blood will then be on Blackstone's hands. I can understand turning a blind eye to some things, but reports of gas????? Really??

    ReplyDelete
  60. It seems like more dogs than children reside in PCV.

An immature transient neighbor's dog barks all the time and can't make it to the elevator without leaving trails of dogshit and dogpiss along the way. Then, unable to wait it just dumps whatever's left outside the elevator doors.

We have to watch out for dogshit whenever we step outside our apartment or exit an elevator. The stained hall carpet looks and smells like crap. It would be better if there was no carpet at all.

    Blackstone Sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  61. The dog shit is still there. I checked. Between 11 and 15 Stuy Oval. No, I didn't call it in. I'm assuming (wrongly?) that one of the porters of those buildings called it in or the PS guard that's riding around on one of those Segway things.

    "Boss, everything is okay."

    ReplyDelete
  62. 9:52 AM, you say the FDNY came, but Security didn't? That is totally outrageous! At the risk of sounding like I'm repeating the party line, I really think you should call Rick about that, especially as Security didn't respond to your report of a smell of gas. That could have had catastrophic results. Are they cutting back so much on Security that we are now all in danger if there is a gas leak? Don't let them sweep that under the carpet. Please!

I contemplated reaching out to Rick, but my wife told me that there have been at least 5 instances on the Stuy Town Moms Facebook page where people reached out to security to report a strong gas odor, and they never showed up. They reached out to Rick and he told them it would never happen again, but it obviously has.

It scares me to think this, but maybe they want an explosion to take out a building or 2. Than they can knock it down and rebuild to their liking.

    ReplyDelete
  65. To: 9/10 - 10:22 Am
What building are you in? We had a situation a couple of years ago in 635 with a dog who left his dump in the hall. We called security to document and called the Porter many times. Security has to be involved because surely this is so me kind of lease violation and the tenant should pay for cleaning up the rug over and over. and if it's a transient does the person have a lease?
