Oh, and check this out if you were considering renting the River Room:
https://www.stuytown.com/nyc-apartments-amenities/event-space
"Residents can rent this space by the hour and host parties, bridal & baby showers, meetings, functions, study groups, presentations, and more."
Remember: Nothing says "I love you" better than moving out!
ReplyDeleteThey can go fuck themselves! Ain't moving out unless they pay me HANDSOMELY to move! Even then, I might not move!
ReplyDeleteI know someone who works in the Management Office and she tells me that they have what is jokingly called The Death List...no kidding.
ReplyDeleteIn it is listed the actuarial life span of all the older rent-stabilized tenants.
They eagerly look forward to the day we all croak.
Clearly, the body will still be warm when the painters come in and the workers put in the wildly inflated Home Depot cheap "upgrades" so the rent can be bumped up for the market rate suckers.
Under Tishman-Speyer they actually had parties Friday afternoons to celebrate the newly vacated apartments and deaths of the old timers.
Beyond ghoulish, huh?
Of course, the TA will deny, deny, deny.
Remember, they'll joyfully celebrate when your apartment becomes vacate too, Susan.
Something to think about, yes?
>>I know someone who works in the Management Office and she tells me that they have what is jokingly called The Death List...no kidding.<<
ReplyDeleteWhat's that saying? Something about making lemonade out of lemons.
When the Death Team go into a senior's apartment after the tenant has died, do they steal things? I wonder if it is possible for a senior to arrange that the rent be paid for another month after demise in order for the executors and beneficiaries of the will to get in there and take care of business without being harassed by the the Death Team? I never thought I would have to be concerning myself with such fears, but seeing what a cruel and ruthless landlord we have, it gives me pause. I am not that old and am in good health, but I live alone and my executor and beneficiary are in another city. I'd hate to think that the Death Team will be in before I am cold and will plunder and probably kill my cats. It really is very disturbing.
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny how somebody on the TA Facebook page, as well as the Tenants Facebook page (not the TA) has two names (neither her real name) and posts as two different people and one recommends the other (recently for dog sitting). I wonder why she's afraid to use her real name? Peter Stuyvesant allows her to post under both phony names. SMFH.
ReplyDeleteIs this a seminar to buy a StuyTown apartment? Or to buy into one of Ben Shoul's StuyTown leases?
ReplyDelete3:45 Who are you referring to? As a dog owner I know a lot of the other dog owners, and I hate to tell you, but all the people that posted on the most recent dog sitting thread are real breathing people that are using their real names, unlike you.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure what the point of your post was anyway.
And here I thought The Death List was comprised of all the students with suspicious buckets of sulphuric acid in their apartment. I stand corrected.
ReplyDeleteI am not 3:45, but 7:21 if you actually know the “real breathing” “Toni Martini”, then you would KNOW that she is posting under a FAKE name and has been for years, which makes your post defending her look very suspicious. Could it be that YOU are the fake “Toni Martini”?
ReplyDeleteAs for the point of 3:45’s post, it’s pretty obvious. The point is that Facebook can be manipulated to make you think things that aren’t true. You know, like the Russians did in the 2016 election.
And to berate 3:45 for not using their real name because they’re posting as Anonymous is laughably hypocritical when YOU are doing the very same thing.
Who cares about fake Facebook profiles? That doesn’t affect me and my crappy quality of life here. If someone feels the need to promote themselves or their businesses using fake aliases, that’s on them and their weakened self-esteem that causes them to use a fake name.
ReplyDeleteAnd you think Peter Stuyvesant is going to say something to someone for using a fake alias?? Peter Stuyvesant is the biggest fake alias of them all.
Probably is her. The berating gives it away.
ReplyDeleteAs many times as it is said, I will say it. Again and again. This morning I have seen outside dogs being walked in Stuy Town and not a word by PS or Management was said to their owners. No one was being "escorted" out of this complex. No one.
ReplyDeleteI call major BS. Prove me wrong.
Many of the cheerleaders have been absent from the TA site as of late. Maybe Blackstone is pulling their strings. Either that or they were priced out of this marvelous oasis.
ReplyDeleteYes, I hear the noise from the work on Playground 1, even though I am not living around it.
ReplyDeletePeter Suytvesant on Facebook thought himself or herself so clever when choosing the moniker but it is perhaps one of the most offensive uses of another person's identity. That moniker is offensive.
ReplyDeleteThe real Peter Stuyvesant worked for Dutch West India Company a trade monopoly that had jurisdiction over Dutch participation in the Atlantic slave trade, Brazil, the Caribbean, and North America - one of histories biggest slave trade organization comprised of foreign investors.
Ironically Human Trafficking is or was a hot topic since around 2012 - 2013 when one of the biggest money movers ( launderers), arms dealer financiers, investors in Airbnb StuyTown landlord-investor BlackRock commissioned a production company to make a movie glorifying BlackRock and at the same time a documentary to be made about Human Trafficking atrocities.
Ironically in 2012 the Clinton Global Initiative complete with photos of politicians who are major stakeholders in StuyTown holding anti-Human Trafficking signs who would in 2016 go onto visit StuyTown (as famously PR'd in Town & Village).
In 2012 then President made a famous speech at the Clinton Global Initiative saying Human Trafficking is modern day slavery.
https://www.traffickinginstitute.org/incontext-president-barack-obama/
According to the press, the famous politician who visited StuyTown has now been sidelined by the Democratic Party due to his sexual harassing of women.
Exploiting Human Trafficking, Slavery, Abuses of Women for political gain or to close real estate deals are depths of depravity lower then imaginable for even the real estate industry and political industry yet that is where they went. Now we know how low they go.
Anyone with any decency would shut down grotesque Peter Stuyvesant on all his or her social media.
"I am not 3:45, but 7:21 if you actually know the “real breathing” “Toni Martini”, then you would KNOW that she is posting under a FAKE name and has been for years, which makes your post defending her look very suspicious. Could it be that YOU are the fake “Toni Martini”? "
ReplyDeleteAre you Inger Fard? LOL! Toni and Inger are one and the same. I just find it hilarious that they talk to and answer each other on certain threads. When they endorse or decry anything it is two for the price of one!
But life goes on!
These playgrounds that are being "improved" are not going to be for the sole benefit of tenants and guests. They are going to be used by Management to make money. They will be used for Pay-to-Play events.
ReplyDeleteNow, where have I heard the term "Pay-to-Play" before? Aaah, I know! THAT'S HOW DEBLASIO RUNS HIS OFFICE!!
"3:45 Who are you referring to? As a dog owner I know a lot of the other dog owners, and I hate to tell you, but all the people that posted on the most recent dog sitting thread are real breathing people that are using their real names, unlike you."
ReplyDeleteDog sitting thread? They/he/she are on every thread. TM is usually scolding other posters.
12:14 she berates posters on the TA thread too.
ReplyDeleteSounds like dogs arent the only ones that could benefit from a walk today.
ReplyDelete@1:59
ReplyDeleteIf I was Inger Fard - who you claim is the same person as the fake "Toni Martini" - would I be calling out "Toni Martini"? In other words, would I be calling out myself??
Makes no sense. So, I think that answers your question.
The real (historical) Peter Stuyvesant was also a notorious anti-Semite.
ReplyDelete>>Sounds like dogs arent the only ones that could benefit from a walk today.<<
ReplyDeleteI'm in the clear. I already took a walk earlier!
BTW, too much now of who is and what is, etc. Let's move on... Wait, doesn't Management want us to "move on"?
I really shouldn't go out in the evening, particularly on a nice day. At around 7:40 PM, no PS presence in the booth or anywhere nearby. A lot of people, though. Seen three, yes, three bicycles riding, yes, riding around the Oval fountain! Then I saw two bikes peddled around the Oval. No PS presence, no one stopped them. Then I saw two of those motorized bikes. No one stopped them. Dogs? A lot, too, but I don't know about lanyards as I wasn't really checking.
ReplyDeleteThis place is a free-for-all at times. No one gives a damn, and PS and Management should be very embarrassed.
I've decided, some time ago, in fact, to get serious about some of what's going on here and what I see. Sorry, no photos sent again and again to Rick or complaints to PS.
ReplyDeleteThey may eventually hear about it, though.
Also our dear TA. Still no response. Makes the work more expansive, but that's life.
The TA doesn't really exist anymore. Just write them off as extinct.
ReplyDeleteManagement is not embarrassed. This is exactly what they had in mind when they bought the place. Our politicians and TA sold us out . They knew that they could fill these apartments with students, tourists, and subsidized and keep raising the rents. They knew that they were not going to be able to run a tight ship with this demo. They did not care if the property deteriorated. Profit, profit, profit and a great PR department to appease and fool older residents into thinking that they were providing amenities and responding to tenant concerns.

ReplyDeleteMay 23, 2018 at 11:52 PM
And fooling tenants into believing they were beautifying the exterior roads when really they were confirming the utilities go to the red line. Nobody is fooled by the PR department of Garodnick & Steinberg on that one.
https://ny.curbed.com/2009/6/2/10540470/conspiracy-theories-lights-out-for-peter-cooper-village
I have no respect for people who hide behind aliases on Facebook. I could care less about Toni Martini, as my bigger problem is with “Peter Stuyvesant.” These are people who volunteered to help us, yet we don’t know who we are talking to when communicating with the TA via Facebook.
ReplyDeleteIt would kind of be like showing up to a TA meeting, and all the board members being dressed up in Disney character costumes and us having no idea who they are.
On another note, pay for play is here to stay. The TA let it slide for too long and I’m worried there’s no going back now.
This morning, I've seen the placard that states Family Fun. I am so happy. All summer long. Meanwhile, not far away, is that PS presence in the little booth. PS: Looking and texting on his cellphone. Meanwhile, while there is this Family Fun and PS interested in his cellphone, there is a dog with his owner around the Oval fountain. Nothing is said. My supposition is that the rules have been changed to allow dogs at the Oval fountain. The signs on that issue are now in the garden, not in front of the Oval fountain.
ReplyDeleteRule 1 of StuyTown:
DeleteTHERE ARE NO RULES.
Enforcing their own house rules seems to be completely nonexistent, so why should we follow them??? I know a few people are insistent that we need to follow the house rules, otherwise face the wrath of SPS legal, but I don’t think they even care.
ReplyDeleteUnless you are in a true RS apartment. Then they care!
"This place is a free-for-all at times. No one gives a damn, and PS and Management should be very embarrassed."
ReplyDeleteSome people cannot be embarrassed because they are too stupid, corrupt and uncaring to ever be embarrassed no matter how obvious to everybody their egregious unprofessionalism is. Rick would be fired if Blackstone was a respectable and well-thought of corporation. It is, unfortunately, one of the dirtiest and nastiest corporations on the planet. Blackstone makes some fascist dictatorships look respectable.
Nothing will get better for the tenants. Rick is just the kind of guy they like - unprofessional, sleazy and a big dolt. He does his masters' bidding as he runs this place into the ground and makes it a hazardous and unpleasant place to live.
"Profit, profit, profit and a great PR department to appease and fool older residents into thinking that they were providing amenities and responding to tenant concerns."
ReplyDeleteDon't underestimate the older residents. They are not fools by any means. You want to find a fool among the older people here, you have to bring one with you. The older residents were willing to give Rick and co the benefit of the doubt, but more and more of them have wised up to what is really going on here. They know they are on the Death List and it angers them. Many of them have alerted their kids as to what to expect if they should die suddenly and have put in place strategies of how to make sure their apartments aren't gutted and their property taken five seconds after they draw their last breath. They don't trust Rick and see beyond his cheesy smile. I know several who have had their younger relatives go in and take extensive photographs of the inside of their apartments so that when they die their executors can make sure that no so much as a tooth pick has been taken.
It's pity that the older folk that to worry about such things, but that is the way it is with this predatory Death Watch landlord.
So now they have FamilyFun Nights on Tuesday nights, movies on Wednesday nights, and concerts on Thursday?!?!? Man o man is Rick a real a-hole or what! People who live near the oval need to start lawsuits, it’s the only way to slow down this ridiculousness.
ReplyDeleteSome of the older tenants that I know still swear by Hayduk. They e-mail him and say that they find him so nice and responsive. He is fooling some.
ReplyDelete>>So now they have FamilyFun Nights on Tuesday nights, movies on Wednesday nights, and concerts on Thursday?!?!? Man o man is Rick a real a-hole or what! People who live near the oval need to start lawsuits, it’s the only way to slow down this ridiculousness.<<
ReplyDeleteThe joint is jumping! There is no reason to leave Stuy Town this summer. All the events are here.
Speaking of lawsuits.... I can't do anything, not living at the Oval, but anyone who is not getting what is promised on their lease should start playing hardball, and not in Playground 1. Yeah, it takes time and patience, but it also requires a tenant writing down times and infractions, and responses, if any.
Of course, dare I mention the TA...?
ReplyDeleteI can’t help but laugh when I see all of the postings by Peter Stuyvesant (TA) that have nothing to do with QOL issues here. They completely sidestep any of the complaints about life here and just post general articles.
ReplyDeletePeople that are paying dues to thecTA are giving money to management.
ReplyDeleteIf for one an more than willing to literally pull out the plug from the horrible noise assault of the so-called Oval concerts.
ReplyDeleteI will march right up to the speakers and pull the plug.
Watch me!
They do NOT have the right to assault our peace and quiet with unreasonable noise and disruption.
Let them arrest me.
I am a senior citizen and, rest assured, I will have a news crew from Channel 2 and reporters from the NY Post on hand to watch the show.
Any others interested in this act of Ghandian civil disobedience?
I hope you are reading this Rick.
May 24, 2018 at 9:13 PM good points. That could be why the phony PR Hayduk trick with Clinton visit was contained to an audience of unsuspecting elderly at the community center and the few selfies with Garidnick and DeBlasio staff / city employees instead of an announced visit for all tenants that would have opened the door for all tenants to voice their opinions about the predatory problems inflicted on the middle class here. That visit is an embarassment to the democratic party because it showed them for who they really are..a bunch of PR tricksters who achieve no results for the public while making the "Blackstones" of the world richer.
ReplyDeleteReading through De Blasio's emails the court made him release shows him for the narcissistic manipulator he is. Only caring about manipulating the press with made up quotes, made up narratives, instead of doing good work that gets results and speaks for itself. All PR tricks and no work. That is De Blasio. Benefiting the most are his good friends Peter Ragone, James Capalino, and Stuytown Tenant Association PR firm owners of Berlin Rosen.
The Judge ruled that BerlinRosen real estate clients and his role in City Hall is a conflict of interest! Yes indeed-ey dirty it is.
Deblasio and Mccray admit deceptive public relations tricks on the public to distort the news and undermine the news journalists using click bait tactics to control what the public sees and knows. You cannot trust either one of these two.
ReplyDeletehttps://nypost.com/2018/05/24/de-blasio-had-deranged-trump-like-plan-to-fight-media/
A few weeks later in August, media critic de Blasio and wife Chirlane McCray were musing about publishing their own articles — in the form of “click-bait.”
“New idea from Chirlane: create our own click-bait. Our own topical, lively, unconventional, sometimes fun, sometimes controversial content. Pls discuss at mtg tonite,” he wrote on Aug. 19, 2015.
The emails came as part of a long-fought freedom-of-information request battle by The Post and NY 1. The administration claimed the emails, which were sent among staffers and outside political consultants, were privileged."
Never mind the TA; they really don't exist as such anymore. If you live on the Oval and are subjected to the intrusion of that total nonsense they call "entertainment," get together and get a lawyer and sue the bastards. Don't we have noise ordinances in this city? Aren't we entitled to the quiet enjoyment of our apartments? If a bunch of buskers or a mariachi band played under your windows, you would call the cops and they would be removed. The noise emitted by these execrably bad "musicians" and old movies is something that nobody should have pumped into their apartment against their wishes.
ReplyDeleteThe amenities are for marketing the Vacation Home Business that the property management is running with those who have admitted they work closely with property management, the tenant association. A simple google search shows some of the StuyTown tenants that were in the Brookfield Partnerships multiple leases that they use as vacation rentals. The StuyTown tenant association turned this permanent community into a vacation resort complete with a resort manager at the helm.
ReplyDeleteNo less than 5 moving vehicles in the 14th St loop today. This place is disgusting.
ReplyDeleteMayor deBlasio emails reveal that he has a serious level of control issues. He believes he has the right to control what others say. He has no belief in the American right of freedom of speech. He believes he has ultimate control over what he says and what others say and that is a serious control problem.
ReplyDeleteI am aware of the talk on the TA Facebook (not talk from the TA, of course) of the pay to play intentions of some hours in Playground 1, and other playgrounds. As for Oval Cafe, as I have said the people behind the counter didn't even know anything about a guy named Garodnick. They are clueless. Yes, the place should be only for residents and their guests. At least the Oval Cafe should be aware of that. Regarding music outside on the Oval Cafe patio: We will see about that. This place is turning into a cruise ship. Now, where have I heard that before?
ReplyDeleteMusic on the Oval Cafe patio?
ReplyDeleteLucky residents of 5 Oval who will be noise blasted by this BS!
Rick Hayduk, YOU are a tool!
This place is nothing like a resort or cruise ship. It is a dump filled with a low life transient population.
ReplyDeleteMayor is in the news whining about corporate media meanwhile he sold us out to a corporate landlord instead of a co-op tenant ownership. No pity for the Mayor crying corporate foul.
ReplyDeleteIn a newer thread, I wrote that I am ready to begin a class action lawsuit against Blackstone for breach of contract - nullification of our leases by reason of denial of quiet enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteIs there an attorney to advise us?
The noise blasting into our homes now 3-4 weekday evenings all summer has got to be stopped. The Oval is not Madison Square Garden.
9:22 PM, IF we had a TA, its attorney would be fighting against this Oval concert shit. Unfortunately, we do not have a TA and the attorneys who work for that nefarious organization that calls itself a TA, will certainly never lift a finger to help us. That would be like asking Donald Trump to give Robert Mueller carte blanche access to all of his banking/tax/dark money information.
ReplyDeleteI agree that a TA should take this issue on. We do not have one anymore. It is an arm of management. So sad.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the TA was up in arms over soda machines being put in the Oval by MetLife and then they protested the stinking ice rink when CWC put that in. They did at least try and showed that they cared. I also remember when, many years ago, we were all getting nasty letters from Belkin, Belchin and Fartin (whatever that sleazy law firm calls itself) because MetLife was doing something nefarious. Belkin Belchin wanted the TA to hand over a list of its membership, but they refused.
ReplyDeletePoint is, the TA wasn't always bad, but something changed. I think that something was Garodnick. I may be wrong, but the TA just seemed to be so hellbent on the ownership dream. I wish we had taken up the offer of that Gutterman guy who thought he could help us go co-op.
People need to stop thinking that the TA is going to do something, because they aren’t. Dan Garodnick took them over and purposely made them irrelevant. We need to continually remind ourselves that Garodnick was the belle of the REBNY gala for many years, and that tells you all you need to know.
ReplyDeleteSo with no TA, the only way to get things done around here is through lawsuits. Start suing for QOL issues. Nobody should be subjected to this shit 5-6 days a week.
6:56 AM. I think you are absolutely right. I wonder what damage Garodnick will do in his new job? Little turd should go back to being a low quality lawyer.
ReplyDeleteThe Tenants Association really is history. It's dead and buried as far as being a TA is concerned. They do show up for RGB hearings, etc., but that is about all. The real purpose and mission of the TA these days is to support and cheerlead for certain politicians (Powers, De Blasio, Hoylman, et al) who are all firmly up the ass of REBNY. I don't think they should even call themselves a Tenants Association anymore because it is a deceptive name and in no way descriptive of what kind of organization it has now become.
It's sad, but it is what it is.
It is what it has been for years and that is what this blog has been saying for years. This blog outed the TA and Garodnick for their REBNY gala ways years ago but nobody cared back then and now it is too late. The only way to win lawsuits is to do simultaneous press about the lawsuit because without the press all tenants are screwed. The courts are corrupted against tenants, remember not one landlord taken to court or convicted in court of harassing tenants in 20 years. Only 1 since then and that case is a joke as the landlord is planning a vacation in Greece to celebrate his short stint in prison and small financial penalty for ruining tenants lives.
ReplyDelete
