It was drizzling. Weather bad. Yet the films continued.
You know, I will not be surprised any more. There is laughter, a shaking of the head, for sure. After the shark was jumped already, what more is there?
Photos of the second film showing:
Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.
Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteWhat were they showing, Waterworld? Singin' In the Rain.
This place is managed by imbeciles.
The abuse of the Oval Tree Park is a disgrace. This whole place is a sham. Oval Concierge is doing some shady things but then so is property services. The only thing not shady is the Oval Tree-less Park.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like people are sitting with umbrellas watching a movie during rainfall.
ReplyDeleteAre they being paid to do that?
"Photos of the second film showing:"
ReplyDeleteThe so called “adult” demo targeted film. Yet they sit in the rain. Oh the irony.
>>What were they showing, Waterworld? Singin' In the Rain.<<
ReplyDeleteThanks. A good laugh. Yeah, that would at least be appropriate.
Once we stop laughing, we stop living.
DeleteKeep up the good work STR.
And to top it all, the first movie was super loud, came right through my Oval window. Morons sitting there in the rain.
ReplyDeleteMorons sitting in the rain. And boy was it loud tonight, especially the first flick. Came through my Oval window.
ReplyDeletemorons running a sanctuary for morons. Kinda sad. Especially annoying that the normal folk (in the majority) have to suffer the affects of catering to such losers. The Oval has been destroyed for the sake of catering to imbecilic morons.
ReplyDeleteTrees are a great noise barrier and air cleanser, but the blood-sucking morons who run the property don't care about that. The quality of life is being destroyed on an ongoing basis. It's very sad.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we can blame the students for the movies and concerts because most (if not all) of that demo wouldn't be caught dead at such cheesy, third rate events! They donn come to New York City to bother with shit like that!!!
Again, I’m willing to bet that a lot of those people out there in the rain were not tenants. But hey, we will never know since Rick doesn’t have PS check people as they come in.
ReplyDeleteI went down towards the end of the film and there was ONE, I repeat, ONE fool sitting with an umbrella watching. That's all!
ReplyDeleteIs this some sort of joke? Mark my words this is just the beginning of the destruction of the Oval.
First, the Love Boat deck chairs.
Soon you will see other "amenities' like swings, kiddie stuff, concession booths, etc., ON the Oval.
Eventually we will be blessed
with The Oval Pool.
Finally, the ultimate "amenity".
60-story Oval High Rise.
Laugh people.
But you heard it here first.
Owners and Management are vile scum second only to the TA who are in bed with them.
Rick Hydick, Susan Steinberg, have you no shame?
...one way to avoid the oval movie!
ReplyDeletehttp://evgrieve.com/2018/07/noted_25.html
My Porter told me he just doesn't care anymore. That sums it up.
ReplyDeleteI continue to say it, but Steinberg is worse than Hayduk. Hayduk is paid handsomely to run this place into the ground, and somehow sleeps at night knowing he is doing this.
ReplyDeleteSteinberg is supposed to be helping us, the tenants. She is so damn silent, it’s deafening. Unless it’s a photo op, don’t expect to see her! How she shows her face on this property is beyond me. Same thing with Powers.
Yes, Steinberg is worse than Hayduk. Hayduk dutifully supports his evil bosses and does a fine job of it. The TA has gone over to management and has left us essentially without one.
ReplyDeleteA blast from the past, posted by me on August 18, 2008:
ReplyDelete>>Stuy Town in better days. A security booth to the right of the fountain, typically manned 24 hours a day, is now gone, leaving the security presence in that area at an all time low. The Oval lawn was well maintained, but now is filled with pockmarks, exposed dirt, puddles and mud. Dogs, previously forbidden in Stuy Town, are now investigating and relieving themselves on the Oval lawn where lie itchy sunbathers, though dog walking on the lawn is against ST regulations. Aggressive noise from the continual construction work being done throughout Stuy Town and around the formally tranquil Oval intrudes from 7AM on.<<
And in that year, 2008, there was this:
>>12/9: Mass Rally to Repeal Vacancy Decontrol<<
STAND UP AND FIGHT
ReplyDeletePowers' office told me yesterday they will do NOTHING to stop the assault on the Oval (they used the word "can"t as in "can't do anything") this summer.
What a wonderful elected representative. Hey Powers....FIGHT FOR YOUR CONSTITUENTS!!
DeleteDon’t hold your breath for next year.
DeleteI'm amazed that some people think the local pols will help regarding issues such as the Oval concerts/movies. Pols are 'owned' by big business. They represent the interests of those businesses. They DO NOT represent YOU (the tenant).
ReplyDeleteWhy do you even waste your time contacting them? They might talk a good game with you but it's only appeasement.
The only way to effect change is through lawsuits providing a law or laws are being violated. Public shaming is another option providing enough people are 'on board' and you spread the word through as many media outlets as possible for as long as possible.
Powers is Garodnick light.
ReplyDeleteOnly taller.
They are both cut from the same cloth...to use a Yiddish expression...a "schmateh"...lol
For those who don't know a "schmateh" is a rag.
I don't disagree with the assessment of who and what the politicians are; neither do I disagree about methods to right things here. I would add, as I've been advocating for some time: civil disobedience.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to add that, for the most part, my sympathy for wage slaves who knowingly hurt others, and lie to them, is disappearing. People have been "just doing their jobs" for hundreds, probably many thousands of years . . . and hurting other people and life forms because they'd lose their jobs if they refused to hurt others in order to survive.
"Just following orders" says the military. "Nothing personal, only business," says any person who is an employee.
I'm not buying it anymore, if you'll pardon my diction. To knowingly, willingly, and deliberately harm other living beings because you're afraid to lose your job, even if you've a mother with cancer at home, a special needs child, a beloved aunt for whom you are caring as she deteriorates with dementia . . . well, wrong is wrong is wrong.
. . . partly because if you need a job to care for an ill or disabled person, YOU CAN SURE AS HELL JOIN WITH YOUR CO-WORKERS TO GODDAMN RESIST AND EVENTUALLY OVERTHROW THE "BOSS" WHO IS DOING DAMAGE TO ALL OF YOU.
STAND UP AND FIGHT
STR, you do a GREAT job.
ReplyDeleteI salute you!
>>wrong is wrong is wrong<<
ReplyDeleteI agree, but I don't think with the numbers that we have whether civil disobedience will work. Blackstone would love to get rid of the "troublemakers" and this is one way.
I agree STR
DeleteI agree with "Stand Up and Fight." "I was just doing what I was ordered to" didn't wash at Nuremberg and it doesn't wash her.
ReplyDeleteSitting under an umbrella in the rain to watch an old movie is very sad and pathetic. Those people clearly have empty lives.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the full TA membership obliged to turn out supporting their deal with the devil Blackstone.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the same loud stinking band from last week outside. Anyone remember when we would hear an actual orchestra concert on Saturday afternoon in Playground 9?
ReplyDeleteJust caught the tail end of the concert this evening and it was deafening and very bad. I counted about 30 to 40 people, some of whom were not listening. It gets worse and worse.
ReplyDeleteJust 1-2 blocks away much better live music can be enjoyed in a much more welcoming, much more convenient, much more comfortable, much better listening environment.
ReplyDeletePure and simple, these concerts are just another Black$tone harassment tactic intended to degrade QOL for the overwhelming majority of PCVST residents and strip away their right to quiet enjoyment of their homes.
The latest SPS email blasts announces more jazz and events on the Oval. Who are they doing this for? A handful of people show up to be "entertained" while thousand are deprived of the peaceful occupancy of the homes they are paying to live in and enjoy some peace and quiet.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of WACO when they tried to force those people out by playing terrible music outside the compound to flush the occupiers out.
Then somebody had the "brilliant" idea of burning them all alive. I doubt Blackstone will do that, but they are driving Oval tenants to extreme misery. I'm surprised there aren't more suicides in this place. Maybe we just don't hear about them.
The latest SPS e-mail blast also features Keith Powers’ mobile meeting. It is not to my liking that he is working with management to meet with tenants. Not a good sign of his intents to help rid us of the Blackstone assaults on QOL.
ReplyDelete5:56am
ReplyDeleteI agree that it’s in very poor taste by Powers and Epstein. They want us to believe we can come to talk with them about serious issues on the property, yet they hold an event in a management facility that is promoted by management.
I must say it - these guys are idiots!
what's the issue here? it was on and off rain but had mostly stopped by mid-afternoon. ground was wet, but why not give people the choice to see a movie outside? maybe 1/5 the normal movie crowd size but is it that much of an issue for you to walk past and see people enjoying themselves?
ReplyDeleteYou have to be kidding. Not that important to show in the rain. Not like it’s a big paying event. Concert was pretty empty too. Most people prefer the AC on hot, humid nights. Take the kids to the movies. The issue is that they are annoying Oval residents for an audience of less than 20 or 30.
DeleteWe will remember Powers and Epstein when we vote for thei rivals, or write in a name. Slimy little shits.
ReplyDeleteNot idiots. Epstein and Powers know exactly what they are doing. They are brazen in their support of Blackstone. They care about their own perceived power and money. They do not care about any of their constituents or they are enjoying making people suffer. I have been around people like them for many many years. This is not innocent and this is not a product of incompetence. This is deliberate contempt and desire to inflict harm upon others.
ReplyDeletePeriod.
Do not be deceived.
7:40
ReplyDeleteAnd hopefully like the rest of the NY Democratic machine, they end up in jail for their injustices to their constituents and the taxpayers.
Thank you 5:29 pm!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why they have to disturb so many in order to please so few. Maybe they should move the events to PCV and see how much Rick enjoys the noise. It seems like they have contemp for the residents of ST. They treat us like shit. If what they are doing is illegal, then Powers must be really corrupt to go along with it.
ReplyDeleteNot only Powers. Epstein is the one who arranged to have this August 7th community meeting at Blackstone's "property."
