Gumby must be working overtime. Gumby is in Management. (Yes, he is; it's in their job descriptions.) Anyway, just when I thought that Management couldn't be more out of touch, here we have a notation on that costly flyer that came with our current rent bill of "The Village Vampire Ball"! Yes, wine will be served and cocktails (Signature Apple Cider, what's that?) at... Bet you thought it was somewhere in the Lower East Side. No, wrong! Our very own Playground 3! Yes, a playground! Just one step away from Sodom and Gomorrah.
Unbelievable, but believable.

Updated 10/16:
I'm so excited. Adult drinks, hookers (well, you can dress whatever), bad boys.... Did I say "adult drinks"? In a playground, too!
Now Management is advertising all over the place. In front of Five Stuy Cafe:
Is this real? And serving alcohol? I can't believe it!
ReplyDeleteGood LUCK, Playground 3 Residents!
ReplyDeleteNo "and their guests" ???
ReplyDeleteWe don't need this. Dog walking is the established hook up activity here in Gypsy Town Transient Village.
ReplyDelete>>Is this real? And serving alcohol? I can't believe it!<<
ReplyDeleteYup. What I showed in the photo is very real, as is the info there.
"Any other costume you desire." Sounds like an invitation to dress up as a hooker. As a matter of fact, ST and PCV hookers take note. You can get some good clients there! Playground 3, don't forget.
ReplyDeleteAbout that "incident" IN Stuyvesant Town. Our leader, Rick:
ReplyDelete>>There’s nothing more important than one’s health, safety and well-being. You entrust a big part of your life with us and in particular, our dedicated Public Safety team. Know we stand watch, 24/7 to keep everyone safe and will continue to do so.<<
Nice PR for the outsiders and Media, but not true, and everyone knows it who lives here. You can also ask the residents who have been mugged here and the women who have been at least groped and, recently, almost raped.
WOW, STR!
ReplyDeleteAnother STUPID gimmick. It never ends.................
ReplyDeleteHey TA, YA HEAR WHATS GOING ON HERE?
ReplyDeleteThe cheerleaders are noticeably silent when bad things happen in this place, but I guarantee they will eat this crappy event up. Probably the greatest thing since sliced bread for a few of them!
ReplyDeleteI think some of the cheerleaders were priced out of their apartments. They are quiet on the TA site.
DeleteHayduk should go. We want a quiet, safe, clean apartment complex to live in. God knows the fucking rents are high enough! He is determined to push down our throats a filthy transient/dorm/AirbnB non-community. We don't want those stupid concerts, troubadours at the PigSty Cafe and these ridiculous asinine "events" he comes up with. He really needs to go back to running resorts and Carnival Cruises and stop trying to do something that he will never be any good at, e.g., running a residential apartment complex in a major city. Go back to Boca, Rick. You belong there.
ReplyDeleteHe does not run this place, Blackstone does. You have the wrong idea. It is the company.
DeleteBooze outdoors? No license. No way. Call the 13th Precinct today to alert them to prevent it.
ReplyDeleteAgree with 10:03 PM. Maybe we should get up a petition to Blackstone to have him replaced with a real apartment complex property manager? We don't need a resort manager/cruise director. This has become a truly horrible place to live. He is obsessed with "entertainment" and turning our once-tough security department into a toy cops joke. This is New York City, not Boca or any other resort hotel compound.
ReplyDelete>>Booze outdoors? No license. No way. Call the 13th Precinct today to alert them to prevent it.<<
ReplyDeleteWine, red and white, is offered. At Playground 3. License? Who needs one? It's Stuy Town!
For those of you who believe that a different manager would be better, you are incorrect. The Blackstone company sets the rents and policies here.
ReplyDeleteJust stepped in dog s*$!% yesterday. Really gross. Big problem here. This place is disgusting to live in.
ReplyDelete"Booze outdoors? No license. No way. Call the 13th Precinct today to alert them to prevent it."
ReplyDeleteYou don't think the 13th Pct is on the payroll? Why do you think we never see them around here? We pay our taxes for policing, like the rest of the City of New York, but all we get is this pretend "Public Safety."
Badges, we don't need no stinking badges....
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lj056ao6GE
>>He does not run this place, Blackstone does. You have the wrong idea. It is the company.<<
ReplyDeleteFrom what I know, the "suits" visit occasionally and are delighted with the Management style. And, sad to say but it's true, a number of residents are also.
'a movable model of a person or animal that is used in entertainment and is typically moved either by strings controlled from above or by a hand inside it."
ReplyDeleteHHHHHMMMMMM............. Sounds like Rick!
The alcoholic drinks will be free? What constitutes a "costume," and who will enforce it?
ReplyDeleteIf Hayduk or anyone else from RS appears at this planned Halloween 'event', they should all be arrested.
Wishful thinking, huh?
>>You don't think the 13th Pct is on the payroll? Why do you think we never see them around here? We pay our taxes for policing, like the rest of the City of New York, but all we get is this pretend "Public Safety."<<
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed in the 13th. Last time I went, the officer in charge of the neighborhood meeting rolled his eyes when Stuy Town was mentioned by a concerned citizen. It was then that I knew I was wasting my time. The 13th and PS are pretty tight.
>>The alcoholic drinks will be free? What constitutes a "costume," and who will enforce it?<<
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it. As I said, for a costume you can dress up anyway you like. Remember, it is adults only. I would suggest all the women dress as hookers or at least have on these low-cut bodices, while the men can wear that very old-fashioned pouch where the outline of your "member" is obvious to everyone. Go for broke. After all, it's Halloween time, and Stuy Town gives a blessing. Remember, Playground 3. Why should the little ones have all the fun?
>>Stuyvesant Town-Cooper Village (Manhattan) – 0.8 Average Yearly Complaints/Per 10,000 Households – 0 complaints in 2017, 0 complaints in 2018 as of Aug 31st.<<
ReplyDeleteI know I complained numerous times. Where are my, and I assume other, complaints??? I complained to Public Safety. Are they keeping this quiet? Is Management?
https://www.realtyhop.com/blog/doo-doo-the-new-urban-crisis/
"RealtyHop.com" is in the business of selling. I smell a rat.
ReplyDeleteWell fellow “Sty” Town sufferers, the silver lining in this cloud is that for once one of these loud (you know there will be recorded music for this event) Carnival Cruise events will take place in PCV, the home of senior (Rick, Fred, etc.) SPS managers. Here’s hoping that some of the TA FB page cheerleaders live around this playground. On a serious note, this alcohol drenched event, marketed to the Bro/Woo-Hoo demo, is just another nail on the coffin of the slow motion commercialization of the interior of PCVST , no matter that is for “residents and one guest” apiece only.
ReplyDeleteWoo!
Dear Blackstone Can we have a real property manager? We can post all this on Yelp and Social Media by the way!
ReplyDeleteI am well aware that the 13th Precinct and Stuyvesant Town whomever-whatever are probably partners in crime, so to speak, and have been for quite a number of years.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless: I did speak to the Precinct today and heard something that sounded at least somewhat encouraging: YES, IT IS ILLEGAL TO BE DRINKING PUBLICLY; YES, IF WE CALL THAT NIGHT, THERE MAY BE ACTION TAKEN. Such action could include summons (ticket? I forget the exact wording) and MAYBE EVEN BREAKING IT UP.
I mentioned, forcefully, Blackstone's ongoing "permit" situation. The officer who spoke to me was somewhat vague about this.
No details or certainty here: it is possible that forces within Stuyvesant Town's employees are themselves seeking to prevent this atrocity from occurring.
We shall see.
P.S.: I phoned Keith Powers' office and received the usual refusal to put me through to even his community liaison. I considered calling Harvey Epstein's office, as well, but I've found him to be even more difficult with which to deal.
Blackstone's destructive and demented actions are escalating. This is how it always works: illnesses such as theirs, whether of individuals or organizations, spread, increase and simply become worse and steadily more devastating UNTIL THEY ARE STOPPED.
Another observation: the Public Safety folks, both old and new, are not only terrified by Blackstone. I don't know how the hell they accomplished it, but Blackstone has literally terrorized them. Think: terrorists, dictators and the like. TERROR. I understand the threat of being fired as an incentive to do the wrong thing. The fear and the subservience, however, and the mantras recited by nearly all of Public Safety with whom I speak are unprecedented.
An old, and not uncommon idea, at least in theory:
Stand Up and Fight
Dear Blackstone, you can take your cheesy, noisy, hokey tenth-rate events and stick up your Blackhole. We don't want them. We don't live here because we want such shit. This is New York City, not Trailer Park Village, Wippalloosa, MS. Please stop subjecting us to this shit and, while you're at it, please send us a real Property Manager. We want someone who is competent, sophisticated and knowledgable of what New Yorkers like and what we hate (trailer park shit, to begin with). We work hard, pay overpriced rents and live in a city that is anything BUT easy on the nervous system. We have construction all around us and MTA work on 14th Street. What we consider desirable is peace and quiet when we get home. Oh, and safety too. We don't like rapes, muggings, sexual assaults of any type because the place (especially over by the river) is a favorite place for subhuman mutants to hang out to look to get lucky on unsuspecting females. You don't think they KNOW those cameras are not watched and there is little to no Security presence over here?
ReplyDeleteWe hate you Blackstone and we have no respect for your glib and pious Bullshit Boy. We are not the only people aware of what this place is like just because we are unfortunate enough to live here. It's "fame" spreading. No wonder you have to rent to the dregs. You can't afford to be fussy.
Thanks for finally talking about >"Drink Booze and Screw Around - Adults Only at Playground 3" <Loved it!
ReplyDeleteIncome inequality. The city is at #2. At least we are not Bridgeport.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.bloombergquint.com/onweb/have-and-the-have-nots-divide-increases-in-new-york-new-york#gs.WoGEkVE
I would be surprised if the adult play at our playground will have wine banned. It could happen, but my suspicion is that the 13th is okay with it, because it's a Blackstone thing. We shall see.
ReplyDelete>>Dear Blackstone, you can take your cheesy, noisy, hokey tenth-rate events...<<
ReplyDeleteI think they (Blackstone and Company) think that certain laws are made to be ignored. If Blackstone wants it....
>>YES, IT IS ILLEGAL TO BE DRINKING PUBLICLY<<
ReplyDeleteMy memory is jogged now. Years ago, wasn't there an event for brokers? Two got into a fight, but aside from that, wasn't the alcohol flowing freely? PS was around big time to make sure residents didn't interfere with the events and "protect" the brokers, but no police, though they may have come after the fight.
While the powers that be market their stupid Halloween event, I did a little experiment yesterday. Went to the T entrance in 4 random ST buildings and 2 PCV buildings to see if I could get let into them By unsuspecting people going in or coming out of the building.
ReplyDeleteI was in all 6 buildings in less than 4 minutes. 3 delivery men, 2 students, and one older woman. I said something to the 2 students and 1 older woman, since I knew the delivery guys could have cared less. The only one who seemed concerned was the older woman.
All of this done and not a single public safety officer seen.
It's very easy to "piggyback" on someone and enter these buildings.
ReplyDelete'Piggybacking" is done ALL OF THE TIME. People are soo stupid. If they don't look behind them, then they get what they deserve. Pure stupidity!
ReplyDeleteNobody cares!!!
ReplyDeletePowers and Epstein won't be getting my vote EVER again. Might as well have Repuglicans, if it comes to that. Couldn't be any worse than those two jerks.
ReplyDeleteI doubt if I will vote for them either. They have not been proactive in dealing with QOL issues here. They will get in anyway.
DeleteRecently, the NYT published an article, complete with photograph, about the filth in certain parts of San Francisco. The photograph was of a filthy, garbage-strewn street corner. Somebody, in the comments section, said it looked just like Stuyvesant Town! How low we have sunk!
ReplyDeleteone day a young woman was waiting outside door 6 peter cooper. i did not let her in. she was banging and cursing and more. i told security. they could not have cared less.
ReplyDeleteStuy Town is hosting key parties?
ReplyDeleteAdmiddetdly late to the party, I saw the yelp review about the charges and deposit not returned and false charges for lateness and more. I am disgusted by the is place and wish I had read Yelp reviews. How does Blackstone Management keep stealing from tenants?
ReplyDeleteAnother Friday night "amenity" at the Five Turd eColi Cafe.
ReplyDeleteA completely untalented "musician" disturbed all the residents of 1 Stuyvesant Oval and 5 Stuyvesant Oval with over two hours of bleating and blaring "playing".
Who wants to hear this intrusive noise?
All people want is to come home to their homes and enjoy a little peace and quiet.
What a disgrace! A royal FU to Love Boat Rick and Susan "Just Call Rick" Steinberg for their incompetence, disrespect and TA corruption.
.
Wait until the Booze Party comes on October 26th.
ReplyDeleteIt is ILLEGAL. ILLEGAL. ILLEGAL.
I have notified the State Liquor Authority, Channel 9 News, the 13th precinct, and the Post.
All have indicated interested.
We shall see.
At worst Stuy Town will get negative publicity.
At best we will see the perp walk by the participants.
Seen out of my window, bros dumping their uncovered mattress and other crap on the loop. But of course it is a designated spot for garbage. Pig Stuy.
ReplyDeleteBeen out there all day. Now it is nearly 5 and they put it out at 10 AM. Disgusting torn couch and dirty mattress.
DeleteThe police aren’t going to do jack about the booze fest, so the only way to counter this event is with bad publicity. The press is nice, but I’m not sure how negatively it would be seen when all you have are some adults outdoors on a private property drinking. It’s actually very common for buildings to host one-time events like this on their property.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if someone under 21 were to get in and obtain alcohol, that would be very very bad, and probably the only way to get bad publicity.
I can't say I'm that annoyed by participants, if any even show up--this looks exactly like a poster stuck on a dorm room back in my college days for a dorm party. this place is marketed as a dorm, and people come here expecting a dorm. No one--not blackstone, not mt sinai, not nyu, not sva, not their parents or their resident advisors-'no one tells them it's not a dorm, ITS AN APARTMENT COMPLEX BUILT FOR RESPONSIBLE ADULTS WHO SHOULD NOT REQUIRE SUPERVISION AND HANDHOLDING
ReplyDeleteJust opened my window and the disgusting smell of skunk pot came through.
ReplyDeleteThis so-called "Property Manager" is a total incompetent and a moron. I doubt he would even qualify for a job on a Carnival Cruise ship. As for the horrible "entertainment" at the e-coli cafe, I think everybody should get up and walk out. The one and only nice thing about that place was that it was a fairly pleasant and quiet place to sit and have a coffee and enjoy looking at the Oval and foot traffic. It was quiet and pleasant. Not now! The unwanted "entertainment" is horrible and totally destroys what little bit of "ambience" the place had. Will never ever stop foot in there again.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with these vile bloodsucking parasites that they try to wring every last drop of blood out of the place to such an extent that they probably end up losing money? Are they that stupid that they don't realize that by now this dump has a terrible reputation and apartment-seekers are actively avoiding it? I was at a dinner the other night celebrating afriend's retirement and when somebody asked me where I live and I said "Stuyvesant Town" the response from so many people was really quite embarrassing. It seems that its "fame" has spread and it widely known to be a dirty, noisy, badly-run Blackston Blackhole. I hate it when people give me looks of sympathy (verging on pity) when I tell them where I live.
The people who run this joint have their heads up their asses because they clearly have no idea about how badly this place has deteriorated and how widely-known that fact is. For those of us born and raised in New York, Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town has always been a fixture, well known to people who had never even lived here. It was an iconic place. Now it is well-known for other reasons, none of them good.
Blackstone does not care. They are renting these apartments and profiting from their rentals to students and transients.
DeleteSKETCHY STUFF AT THE ACCOUNTING OFFICE. NOTHING NEW THERE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DEPOSIT BACK.
ReplyDeleteThis property is indeed a dorm. My building appears to be over 60 percent students at this point. They are all over- in the elevators, laundry, congregating outsidethe building. The place is infested with them and their move out trash.
ReplyDeleteBlackstone is not losing money4:44. They have an endless pool of students, Airbnb, city subsidized, tourists and transients with short term leases to fill these apartments. Three unrelated parties can pay ever increasing rents. I think the city is getting involved too. This is profitable for them. They don’t care about reputation.
ReplyDeleteSomeone on the TA Facebook page said her lease renewal had been mistakenly forwarded to some City department by the dopes in the office. Maybe got her lease mixed up with one of the homeless people they are now catering to. So this is becoming one of De Blasio's shelters or cluster properties for the homeless?
ReplyDeleteNo wonder Blackstone is letting it become a slum and have such a loser acting as property manager.
This is definitely a cluster property now. My neighbors are not paying rent of over 3500 monthly on their own. Interesting that they have already been in the apartment over two years. Some church group. Name isn’t even on the door.
DeletePIG STUY TOTWN!
ReplyDeleteE-COLI 5 TURD CAFE!
What a sad joke this place has become.
@7:50 PM. I fear you are right. Blackstone doesn't care and Rick Hayduk doesn't care. They have no sense of decency and feel under no obligation to the tenants. All they care about is collecting the rent and their paychecks. The concerns of tenants (especially the real rent-stabilized tenants) are of no interest to Blackstone and its employees. So long as they collect the rent and their pay checks, they don't give a damn about our health, comfort, dignity and safety. I doubt that Rick is here for the long-term and I don't think he gives a rat's ass about the misery of the tenants.
ReplyDeleteRick is already here three years and he does not set policy here. His company does.
DeleteRENT AND PAYCHECKS. It is only about rent and paychecks.
ReplyDeletehow can the RS housing division approve 3 months of penalties should you lose a job or move? i read 3 months on here. 3 FUCKING Months, cannot be legal.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I saw today and I wasn't even looking. One uncovered mattress at the 20st loop and three (!) uncovered mattress on that 1st Ave loop stacked one atop the other, kinda. I wish I did have a camera. Never seen three together! Obviously Management doesn't give a fuck and neither does PS. All uncovered mattresses in NYC are ILLEGAL.
ReplyDeleteWe can photograph from now to doomsday and it will not matter. A Stuy is a sty.
Delete"If you want to 'break' your lease"
ReplyDeletehttp://metcouncilonhousing.org/help_and_answers/if_you_want_to_break_your_lease#answer03
STR, I think it is obvious that "Management" is paying the City to look the other way when it comes to uncovered mattresses and many other things that are CLEAR VIOLATIONS of City law.
ReplyDeleteThis is a corrupt and very dirty bunch of human filth who own and operate this place. Nobody with any morals and sense of decency would work like this. Eventually, they will have to face the music, but probably not until DeBlasio and several members of the City Council are out of office.
I also believe strongly that management has deals with the city to get subsidies for apartments here. Perhaps on a limited scale but there definitely are tenants here who are subsidized by the city and who are not paying full rents in market rate apartments.
DeleteDog shit this evening all around the Oval area where the Greenmarket sets up each Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYUMMY!
How sanitary!
Oh, sorry, Rick, forgot it is just another "amenity".
They also let the dogs right up to the produce. I have seen dogs sniffing the fruit. Disgusting. At one point they had a restriction on how far the dogs could go but of course it wasn’t continued or enforced. A PS officer told me the dog owners didn’t pay any heed.
Delete4;32 how do you know their rent?
ReplyDeleteAll market rate apartments that have been turned over several times are between 3500 and 4000 monthly(1 bedroom) FYI 8:43
DeleteI love the two most recent 5 star reviews for Stuy Town on Yelp (5 days ago and 14 days ago). SPS isn’t even good at paying for their 5 star reviews! Both of these reviews are from the classic templates available for purchase from companies that post positive reviews on Yelp.
ReplyDeletePeter W literally paid for these reviews and then thanked these two “people” for their reviews and welcomed them to the community. I’d love to see the marketing budget reports to see what they shell out for positive reviews on various websites.
Dogs and Students have ruined this place!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely
Deletehttps://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/new-york-retail-vacancy/572911/
ReplyDeleteYeah....
Someone needs to expose all this.
ReplyDeleteI have now officially lost all hope in all of our elected officials. While I don’t agree with the violence that happened on the UES over the weekend, the fact that all of our politicians (from Governor to Councilman) made a huge spectacle of it while we have much larger and long-term issues happening all over this city.
ReplyDeleteThey should have released a statement calling for an NYPD investigation, and gotten back to work on more pressing issues that we face every day, like the L train construction fiasco (actually the MTA as a whole).
The politicians of this city are a gang, plain and simple. They are all from the same political party, and come together like a pack of wolves when there’s a press opportunity for them. This mentality does not bode well for us as constituents of this district and resident of this city. It just continues to show me that priorities are ass backwards, as I sit here awake all night from L train construction.
They should not allow dogs at the green market. I would never ever shop there, even if it were the last greengrocer in New York! I'd rather eat canned or frozen vegetables than the dirty, e-coli-laden "fresh" stuff they sell at that green market. Yechh
ReplyDelete>>I have now officially lost all hope in all of our elected officials.<<
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, I am STILL waiting to hear back positive or negative news from the Powers office. It remains delay and delay. Pretty soon it will be Christmastime, and I still haven't heard the promised news.
This place is a Dead End.
ReplyDeleteWhat news (good or bad) are you waiting for from Powers' office, STR?
ReplyDeleteBlackstone is the second largest theme park operator in the world second to Walt Disney. This little party is no surprise. It is a sign of things to come.
ReplyDeleteWhen Baratta led private equity giant Blackstone Group’s €102 million ($136 million) deal to buy Merlin Entertainments in 2005, the U.K. theme park group was best known for the macabre London Dungeon, a museum that recreated gory historical events for curious tourists. But with Blackstone’s backing and €3.5 billion in capital, Merlin was soon devouring other attractions — bidding for Legoland and acquiring Italy’s leading theme park operator, aquariums in Asia, Madame Tussauds, and the London Eye. Merlin CEO Nick Varney stresses that without Baratta’s deal-making skills and Blackstone’s capital, the company would have had little chance of becoming what it is now: the second-largest theme park operator in the world, behind Walt Disney Co. Varney remembers Baratta’s detailed due diligence, which included riding the roller coasters at Merlin’s parks and asking intense questions about its business — at least once at 3:00 a.m.

ReplyDeleteNo mold in the water??? If it smells and tastes like mold, guess what??? Mold can make people ill and can even kill people. Why are our elected officials and landlords giving us some BS city line??? Changed reservoirs ..what!! It still taste like and smells like mold!!!! Why is the Bronx moldy??
Here are illness from shower/bathing water that mold can cause or exaserbate:
rashes, headaches, dizziness, nausea, allergies, asthma attacks, and serious lung infections.
Now when referring to drinking water, here are the effects:
Nasal and sinus congestion, runny nose
Respiratory problems, such as wheezing and difficulty breathing, chest tightness
Cough
Throat irritation
Sneezing / Sneezing fits
And let’s not forget about the big one....Mycotoxin toxicity! This can cause neurological disorders, cancer and death!!! While this is a result of prolonged exposure, please do your own due diligence!
This may alarm you but I hope that this is not the case. I am just trying to get to the real answers here. DOG WASTE, ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS ABOUND, PILES OF GARBAGE, and ROUND UP WEED KILLER ARE ALL OVER THIS PLACE.
Continue to ask questions! After all it’s your health
I have learned from, shall we say, "informed sources" that "working girls" are operating out of a number of apartments here in Pig Stuy Town.
ReplyDeleteAll very discreet, very quiet and on the down low but a presence nonetheless.
Hey Rick, hey Susan, is this another "amenity"?
No surprise here. These apartments are full of sketchy parties. They do not have any idea who rents here or who is living in these apartments.
Delete>>What news (good or bad) are you waiting for from Powers' office, STR?<<
ReplyDeleteTwo things: 1) The uncovered mattresses on the loops. Illegal, but Management doesn't care. 2) The club cars going across 20th Street. Illegal with no license, which they don't have.
And Powers is...what on these two?
Keith is getting a lot of praise on the TA site for helping to get new lights installed at the construction area on 14th St. It appears that he is somewhat more proactive than Garodnick was. In his last years of his term, Garodnick did nothing. Despite this, Keith Powers appears to back down when confronting management.
Delete4:17, I agree with you. I don’t buy the whole reservoir change thing for a second. This city is not known for having truthful government agencies and politicians, so they don’t care if they spread lies and misinformation about the water, or anything for that matter.
ReplyDeleteIt’s not like we have to look far for a concrete example of city agencies and politicians lying about the water supply, just ask people living in NYCHA whose kids were poisoned.
I love the people gushing over Powers putting up some lights on 14th between 1st and A. How low our expectations have become is embarrassing, and I guess we have no-action Garodnick to blame for that. Our thoughts regarding those lights should be to ask what the hell took so long to get them up!?!?
ReplyDeleteI’m surprised Powers didn’t wait for an assault/attack to take place before putting the lights up!
I have noticed that since the water changed I have had constant sneezing fits, I itch from head to toe and my sinuses are constantly blocked and inflamed. I clean my apartment assiduously every day. I can avoid drinking the water and use bottled water for drinking and cooking. I can't bathe in Poland Spring though!
ReplyDeleteWe live on and by a toxic waste dump and with the MTA work going on outside (I live on 14th) the situation is just terrible. I don't think people should move into any of these buildings (especially with children) until the subway is finished and the drinking water sources have been changed. It could be very dangerous for their developing nervous systems. Mine is totally shot just from living here!
I hate this place with it's dirty air, dirty water, rampant noise and the disgusting, stomach-churning filthy mattresses strewn all over the property. Add in the plethora of dog excrement all over the grounds and in many of the public areas of the buildings, and I think this place needs a thorough going over by the Board of Health.
Keith Powers may have been helpful inasmuch as he had some increased lighting installed on 14th Street near the construction, but he seems to take no interest in the many, many other egregious health and safety violations that are created and maintained by Management. Maybe he is not up to the level of having any power in those departments, or maybe Blackstone has warned or paid him to stay away from those issues.

Hey Rick, hey Susan, is this another "amenity"?"
Nothing new. We've had many drug dealers, child molesters (one a therapist!) pot farms, meth factories and god knows what else here over the years. Prostitution is nothing new to Sty Town. We have all sorts from City Subsidized to AirbnB and illegal sublets. Very few people know their neighbors and it's best to not get to know your neighbors unless they have been here many years and are not among the new wave of hookers, dealers, opportunists and generally shady riff raff that Ricky loves so much. He knows what goes on here and encourages it. What's good for the bottom line is good for Blackstone and Rick IS Blackstone.
Even TS and CW didn't pander to the like of what we have now!
I agree. TS and CW were rotten landlords but we never had the filth, lowlife demo and absolutely exploding student and Airbnb population we have now.
Delete'WORKING GIRLS' just come with the filth that surrounds us. Also, please, PLEASE, to my fellow neighbor, have your dog stop barking soo late at night. I am on the verge of calling Security. I can't take it anymore. PLEASE!!!!!! Don't you realize people live around you?

ReplyDeleteI noticed the enthusiasm, too. LOL. Pitiful.
>>I have noticed that since the water changed I have had constant sneezing fits, I itch from head to toe and my sinuses are constantly blocked and inflamed.<<
ReplyDeleteNot to get in on the bandwagon, but my sinuses have really been acting up of late. And today, I noticed an oiliness to the water. Subtle, but it seems to be there.
From now on I only vote for politicians who have a well-documented history of opposition to real estate. Not a single politician that we currently have has any backbone whatsoever when it comes to battling real estate.

ReplyDeleteVery pertinent to what happened in Stuy Town. Amazing....
When did such an occurrence happen in Stuyvesant Town?
DeleteI've lived here for 30 years or so, and I have never seen this property feel so bad, though there are a few pluses.
ReplyDeleteOne plus is that the service for maintenance is still good. That is about the only one I see. Otherwise all minuses—the appearance of the property, the nasty demo and the cheap events besmirching the Oval all big minuses.
DeleteI never thought I would miss TS and CW, but I do!
ReplyDeleteTHE TA HAS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER IN ANYTHING AROUND HERE. MANAGEMENT WILL NOT LISTEN TO THEM. WE ARE DONE FOREVER. I'M LOCKING MY DOOR BEHIND AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE THAT GOES ON AROUND ME. I'M GOING TO TAKE THE SAME 'IT'S ALL ABOUT ME' ATTITUDE. I H A V E H A D I T !!!!
ReplyDelete>>When did such an occurrence happen in Stuyvesant Town?<
ReplyDeletePiggybacking is a well known way to get into an ST building if one doesn't have a key card. What was it? A week ago, someone piggybacked into a ST building, following a tenant and attacked her. A few years ago, a senior, who did not want to be called a racist, allowed someone to get in, without a key card. He was attacked by this person in an elevator. The sign says to be a good neighbor (ha!) one doesn't allow anyone in who doesn't have a key card.
Wise-up, people. TS and CW never left. The “owner” changed names, but kept on the same vicious bunch of losers. They put Hayduk “in charge” as a puppet, but we are still suffering under the same bunch of vile anti-tenant scum e.g. Keheo, Sabatino, et al.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't let the Pope in if he didn't have a keycard. Sometimes you just have to be "nasty" to protect yourself from opportunistic lowlives even if it means you have to snub or insult some people who are bound to play the race card.
ReplyDeleteI agree STR. Now that the woman in that case has spoken up about her reasoning for not wanting to allow the young man into the building, it definitely rings true here. As is the protocol with her condo association, we are told not to hold the door for anyone we don’t know.
ReplyDeleteBecause there is absolutely no way of knowing who lives here anymore, it’s only a matter of time before a situation like this happens here. Unfortunately we live in a time where people will rip out their cell phone to document the hostility instead of just showing their key fob/key card and putting the situation to rest.
“HOUSES OF ILL REPUTE”
ReplyDeleteProstitution of all types, genders and fetishes are not addressed in our community. We have called security and written letters about blatant occurrences. We had to move buildings to avoid our three small kids from being in danger. The girls on our floor were hig class fetish dealers. They operated a revolving door establishment. The appeared to be college students but it was very obvious what they were up to. Men and couples all times of day.
I thought at the time when the complaints were laughed at, that maybe senior members of management we getting a discount at this house. Maybe that’s the case all over the complex. You would think that landlords would be concerned. I guess it’s another amenity.
There was a "crusty" hanging out in the Main Level vestibule last night clearly waiting to piggyback his way in.
ReplyDeleteNice huh?
I was sitting on one of Rick's "beach chairs" on the Oval yesterday.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of The Love Boat...lol
Anyways, a young woman came onto the Oval with her clearly 50+ pound dog, a behemouth, lanyardless of course.
The dog proceeded to take a massive shit no more than 10 feet away from me.
I was dumbfounded. To stunned at her lack of civility to say something.
After Fido did his business, the dog owner walked calmly away leaving a "gift" for all to enjoy.
Classy, huh?
What's wrong with these people?
Unfortunately even some of the ones who live or stay here are lowlifes. There is no way of knowing who you are letting or not letting In anymore.
ReplyDeleteDon't know them, don't let them in! Too bad! This ain't the good ole days.
ReplyDelete>>The girls on our floor were hig class fetish dealers.<<
ReplyDeleteJust give me the building and the room number. I will check them out.
I wonder if members of Management are customers of the hookers? Ya never know.
ReplyDeleteThis place is unsafe overly expensive and bye all.

That is a fact.
So now we are officially starting to see the external deterioration of this place. A post on the Tenants page shows what is happening to the bricks below one of the newly installed below the window AC’s. Who knows if the runoff from the AC’s has chemicals that can erode the bricks, but I think we are going to start finding out sooner rather than later!
ReplyDelete"Wise-up, people. TS and CW never left. The “owner” changed names, but kept on the same vicious bunch of losers."
ReplyDeleteAll true except for one thing...
Those marching orders were issued to corrupt NYC Councilman Dan Garodnick from REBNY/Wall Street predators bankrolling him: Strip away PCVST residents' golden opportunity to own the entire PCVST complex without a phony, unnecessary partner by diverting our exclusive access to $2.7 Billion Fannie Mae purchase funding to ineligible, undeserving REBNY predator/$25 Million Speyer investor Brookfield, which without any notification or consultation with PCVST residents suddenly became our disgraced, incredibly conflicted PCVST TA Board's business partner.
Unlike corrupt NYC Mayor de Blasio and corrupt NYC Councilman Garodnick following orders from REBNY/Wall Street predators bankrolling them, our PCVST TA Board had only one constituent - PCVST residents. We were never informed at that time Garodnick was secretly bankrolling the hijacked PCVST Board we thought acted in our best interests. Our disgraced, incredibly conflicted PCVST TA Board 100% abdicated their fiduciary obligations owed to us, their sole constituent, by entering into a secretive business partnership with major REBNY predator/$25 Million Speyer investor Brookfield.
History revealed the Garodnick/TA Board conspiracy betraying their PCVST neighbors/constituents in an attempt to deliver PCVST into the claws of major REBNY predator Brookfield was inept and incompetent on an epic, grand scale. They 100% botched their betrayal of their PCVST neighbors/constituents. At some vague point Brookfield walked away ... and Garodnick/TA Board had no backup Plan B or C or D ... and they never informed their PCVST neighbors/constituents anything about the dire circumstance/trap they staged and collapsed into. Corrupt NYC Mayor de Blasio acting on behalf of Blackstone bankrolling him only had to strip away from corrupt, incompetent Garodnick/TA Board what Garodnick/TA Board acting on behalf of Brookfield had already stripped away from their PCVST neighbors/constituents. Then they all hugged and held hands singing songs forever about how the best possible outcome from Speyer failing to rake in multiple billion dollar windfalls pushing the middle class out of PCVST is Blackstone successfully raking in multiple billion dollar windfalls pushing the middle class out of PCVST.
All true except for one thing ... "the same vicious bunch of losers"
2009 - Speyer miserably failed to destroy our historic PCVST middle class community.
2010-2015 - FIVE YEARS!!! - Lying, Conniving Dan Garodnick incompetently arranged for Brookfield to replace Speyer. Disgraced, incredibly conflicted TA Board was merely a convenient, stooge-filled shell vehicle Garodnick hijacked in furtherance of his scheme. Since PCVST residents were never actually presented with any type of cogent, legitimate purchase/conversion plan, it's fair to assume Garodnick's phony "tenant led purchase" scheme and equally phony, middle class unaffordable Brookfield condo scam was really just a misleading, time consuming, distracting hoax.
2015 - Notoriously corrupt NYC Mayor de Blasio opportunistically seized upon Garodnick/TA Board epic incompetence to competently arrange for Blackstone to replace Brookfield.
All of them: Speyer, Brookfield, Blackstone, Garodnick and de Blasio are "the same vicious bunch" but they are not the "losers" here. Blackstone is successfully executing Speyer's same failed business plan; successfully raking in the same multiple billion dollar windfalls Speyer failed to rake in; successfully pushing the same historic PCVST middle class community out of PCVST replaced by the same transients. The same bulldozers owned by the same major REBNY/Wall Street predators bankrolling the same corrupt NYC/NYS politicians are the same end game.
Speyer Won!
It is the historic, world renowned PCVST middle class community lacking honest representation that lost everything.
Garbage bag full of empty beer cans in stairwell this morning.
ReplyDeleteAt least that's a step up from the used condoms which residents of my building have seen in the past.
Luxury living, huh?
I don't think so.
Why is the water brackish and brown?
ReplyDeleteAnd the noise from the construction on 14th Street...good grief!
The sign at the 14th and Avenue A loop entrance says "Oasis".
Are they delusional? An "Oasis" all right.
An "oasis" of shit.
People actually pay up to four grand for a one-bedroom to live in this dump?
Unfu*king believable!
We are one step up from the NYCHA Projects. The horrible "concerts" and "events" are an attempt to distract our attention from what a slum this place has become. It's very sad.
ReplyDeleteThe concerts and events are presented as fake amenities to justify the high rentals. It is obvious that they are not true amenities such as a doorman or pool.
DeleteTo summarize:
ReplyDelete• The feeding of wildlife, squirrels or birds, will be prohibited effective April 1, 2019.
• StuyTown Property Services will continue to work with environmental groups ensuring
we do the right thing for both the wildlife and the community. In particular, our team
will collaborate with the Madison Park Conservancy team and other organizations
such that this decision is monitored after April 1st.
Thanks Rick, yet again, you have ruined another good thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Feeding the wildlife here is not good. Glad that it will be prohibited.
DeleteNOW we can't even feed the squirrels. IT JUST NEVER ENDS HERE.
ReplyDeleteGlad about that rule. They are rodents.
DeleteThis place blows.
ReplyDeleteThis place is simply a Hotel. Nobody is going to stay here for the long term, unless you are rent stabilized. It's going to get worse. Happy MEGA everyone! ( You too STR )
ReplyDeleteSigns up for ice rink with new extended hours and music. The slamming bodies into plastic sides and hockey pucks slamming and screaming children and adults is almost too much to cope with year after year if you live above the rink. How can they add extra noise with music and extra hours? Isn’t 8 or 9 pm too late already because people want to relax at home by 8pm? What can be done?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is unbelievable what they charge for rent here. That is why many apartments arenow filled with students, unrelated tenants and transients. People are getting wise to this place.
ReplyDeleteBeginning next April, will Madison Square Park Conservancy (a private, 'charitable' organization) also make arrangements with Rick to 'import' some of their junkies, winos, and homeless here, in order to enliven the carnival atmosphere?
ReplyDeleteAlso, night temperatures in the mid-Forties now, with no heat, and no discussion thereof here yet:
Remember folks, this is courtesy of the supposed "sophisticated sensor system" installed by benevolent(?) Met Life.
And made fully-Kosher everywhere last year by our wonderful City Council, while Danny Boy was still enthroned there.
SQUIRRELS AND BIRDS: FEED THEM.
ReplyDeleteIGNORE THE THREATS. WE HAVE A PARTICULARLY STUPID, STUNTED BUNCH OF MORONS SPOUTING SHIT (HUMAN WASTE WHICH ONLY POISONS THE EARTH).
ALL OF THE OTHER FORMS OF LIFE HERE BESIDE HUMANS HAVE MORE OF A RIGHT TO LIVE THERE THAN DO HATEFUL, HATE-FILLED HUMAN TOXINS.
FEED THE SQUIRRELS. GIVE THEM WATER IN THE SUMMER. FEED THE BIRDS. GIVE THEM WATER IN THE SUMMER.
SAVE THE TREES.
See more and more tourists and strangers in these buildings all the time.
ReplyDeleteThird-rate "musician" singing at the Five Turd eColi Café this chilly evening.
ReplyDeleteMassive throng of maybe 12 people listened in rapt attention...NOT.
The fact that residents of 5 Stuy Oval and 1 Stuyvesant Oval were disturbed by the racket is of no interest whatsoever to Rick Hydick or Susan Steinberg.
This Hayduk guy is a total fucking idiot. He is cracking down on squirrel feeders while he turns a blind eye to the behavior of the many noisy, filthy degenerates who live here. Just because they are paying "market rate" rent does not mean that they have any class or know how to live like decent human beings. There is a young couple (millenials) on my floor who have the noisiest parties, the noisiest sex and absolutely no carpets, so they can be heard rutting and partying by all their neighbors on the same floor, upstairs and downstairs. The female has a voice like a dentist's drill.
ReplyDeleteGive me the squirrels any time! I will continue to feed them and if I get a summons I will tear it up and mail it to Hopeless Hayduk. I doubt it will come to that though because none of the rules of this dump is enforced. It's all form without substance.
Hayduk does not set the renting policies which are the core problem here. Blackstone does. They are renting to a low life demo now because the apartments are not affordable to families and couples. The result is students, unrelated people, tourists and city subsidized crammed into apartments. Hayduk is responsible for the glut of lousy entertainment and some of the garbage issues but the company sets the policies.
DeleteFeeding the squirrels has been done by a few residents since I've been here. That will continue, despite "the rules." Management hardly enforces some of the rules here (I'm sorry, but they are lawless themselves in cases like uncovered mattresses or club cars passing 20th Street), so whatever "enforcement" is really laughable.
ReplyDelete"Billy Jack" (remember him?) said something about the law being broken by the police, then there is no law, just survival.
ReplyDelete>>Third-rate "musician" singing at the Five Turd eColi Café this chilly evening.<<
ReplyDeleteWow. Even on a day when it is chilly and chilly.
I'll stop feeding he squirrels and birds when Hayduk stops allowing filthy, disgusting mattresses to be dumped al over the property. Most of them look like they've been dumped out of a hot sheets brothel motel. That guy has no interest in the welfare and wellbeing of tenants. With his tenth-rate "entertainment" and laissez faire attitude towards the people who blatantly break the rules, he really doesn't belong running a place like this. He'd be better off working on a cruise ship - as entertainments director, not anyone with responsibility for safety and wellbeing!
ReplyDeleteI guarantee that any manager would perform the way Hayduk does. His superiors at Blackstone seem to be quite pleased with him. The company is rotten to the core.
DeleteThis new rule about feeding the squirrels, is it kind of like the dog lanyard rule or no?
ReplyDeleteStuy Town has NEVER looked so shitty.
ReplyDeleteLooks just like the projects now.
And the fools who pay those exhorbitant rents???
For what??
An "Oasis"?...hahahaha
P.S. Love the rags hanging in the elevators.
Clearly they are a permanent addition, wouldn't you say?
Really a nice homey touch...hahaha
PIGS in PIG STUY TOWN
ReplyDeleteWhy are people so lazy that they leave their garbage OUTSIDE the carriage room door?
So classless.
In my building too . Low life demo
DeleteFinally, some heat. Though the wind factor doesn't care.
ReplyDelete3:34 am the only fool is you.
ReplyDeleteRent here if you want to live underneath a place that feels as if you are under a bowling alley. I swear to XX I have never heard so many dropped weights day after day, night after night. The persons above us just keep dropping real heavy items all day. What in the or who the hell drops things constantly. Then there's a lot of dragging. Day after day. Dragging things. There are for 100% not in possession of even one rug.
ReplyDeleteI think what 3:34 is trying to say is that these rents are outrageous for what you get here or do not get. No doorman, no pool, pay extra for gym, dirty garbage strewn loops, heat issues, noise problems, crappy retail in the area. Plus market rate people will keep getting outrageous increases. You can do better elsewhere for market rates. Let’s face it. This is an old seventy year project. Maybe fool is a strong word but it isn’t an oasis or close to being worth the rents.
ReplyDeletePeter Stuyvesant (John Marsh) with yet another voting post. When will we see this phony group post something about the daily issues we face here????
ReplyDeleteThe TA and politicians should be ashamed.
Yes it is hilarious how they veeroff the topic with their posts. Sometimes the posts deal with events up at Union Square or Gramercy Park. Anything to avoid confrontation with Blackstone.
Delete4:21 PM...I disagree with you. I agree with Harriet. Anyone paying market rate is a fool.
ReplyDeleteand to 7:49 yes, maybe, not sure. Where do you get 800 or more square feet for this price, no broker fee? Please enlighten us.
ReplyDelete6:35. Why do you think these apartments are all filled with students and transients. People who can afford rents of 3500-6000 monthly are going elsewhere. If they weren’t you would have a more stable demo. They are willing to pay a little more for a doorman building with real amenities. True, the rooms may not be as large . I had a neighbor a couple of years ago who moved to Amsterdam on the upper west side. They kept upping his rent. An engineer for the second ave subway , family man.
Delete6:35pm
ReplyDeleteWe went through this exercise a little over a month ago. Someone said you can’t find apartments that are the size of PCVST for the same price without a brokers fee. Someone came back with a number of links to apartments that met the criteria in much nicer buildings and neighborhoods in manhattan.
I’m sick and tired of people trying to justify the ridiculous rents here, when all it takes is a quick visit to Street Easy to show you are wrong and there are much better options out there. If I was paying over $3500/month in rent, I sure as hell wouldn’t be paying it to Blackstone to live here!!
Agreed
DeleteHeat? What's heat?
ReplyDeleteCertainly not in the lexicon of our landlord.
For 3800 for a one-bedroom I must really have lots of nerve to expect heat.
Reminds me of the cold-water flats my grandparents grew up in.
My next door neighbor pays 3 times as much as i do, and we BOTH GET THE SAME THINGS!
ReplyDeleteSUCKERS!!!!!!
https://nypost.com/2018/10/23/man-leaps-to-death-from-stuy-town-building/
ReplyDeleteOff topic, but there has been another suicide on the property. Someone jumped out a window at 16 Oval. Poor thing. RIP.
ReplyDelete6:35 PM.... You can get a better deal virtually anywhere. One of the top spots would be Battery Park City.
ReplyDeleteYet another suicide in this vile shit hole. How many suicides occurred when MetLife managed the place? Sure, a few terminally ill older folk, once every several years, but they are getting younger and more frequent. Is there something about. this place that depresses people to the point of eternal extinction?
ReplyDeleteWe don’t need your thoughts and prayers, Mr Heydyk. We need you to manage the property like a professional manager of a NYC housing development (as opposed to a silly resort in Florida) OR GET THE FUCK OUT AND MAKE ROOM FPR SOMEBODY WHO KNOWS WHAT THEYRE DOING!!! She
I hope, though I am not hopeful, that we will hear the truth from Management.
ReplyDeleteThe suicide reminds me that we are starting again with the ice rink. The noise will be heard in the buildings adjacent to that. Question: Is there any other residential community that has an ice rink so close to its surrounding buildings?
ReplyDeleteOr loud concerts? There is a new cheerleader on the TA site. Most of the other ones are gone. Probably were priced out of their apartments.
DeleteAnother suicide here! Wow! We used to have one every few years when MetLife ran this place and they were usually terminally ill or intractably depressed persons. Very few and far between. Something about this place that is making it the suicide capital of New York City.
ReplyDeleteSTR, unabated noise can cause suicide. Ask any shrink. The noise, filth and total indifference of Management to what people suffer through is probably a strong contributing factor. The knowledge that you cannot got to bed here and not be woken up (if you even manage to get to sleep) by the noise of heavy walking on paper-thin uncarpeted apartments upstairs and downstairs from you; the heavy noise of constant construction indoors and outdoors can cause such distress as to bring on psychosis from sheer exhaustion and sleep depravation. Management will never acknowledge this because so long as the rent is collected, that's all they care about. There is always a high rate of suicide and mental illness in places like this.
ReplyDeleteThis Hayduk guy should be ashamed of himself because he is not a Manager, just a perpetrator of misery for thousands of people.
He carries orders out from above. He is not the culprit, Blackstone is. A manager follows the agenda of his bosses.
Delete"Question: Is there any other residential community that has an ice rink so close to its surrounding buildings?"
ReplyDeleteThe answer is NO! There are apartment complexes bigger and better than this (some of them Mitchel Lamar and some of them NYCHA) that are quieter and better run than this complex. They don't try to capitalize on every fucking spare blade of grass (as if there were any spare blades of grass in New York City!). The avaricious, bloodsucking "managements" that we have been persecuted by over the last decade or so are right out of the "Kill in Increments" playbook. They are morally bankrupt and don't have a speck of decency or humanity in them, but they get to rule and control the place we call home. There is something very evil about their greed and indifference to our suffering. If there is such a thing as Judgment Day, they should be very afraid.
You certainly do have to start believing that living here is a potential contributing factor for these 4 suicides in less than a year. Maybe it’s the noise?? Maybe it’s people struggling with rent???
ReplyDeleteWhat I do know is that all we get once again from Rick is “thoughts and prayers.” “Thoughts and prayers” for the poor woman last week, now for this gentleman.
Hey Rick, what are you doing to prevent this? This is yet another suicide on your property where other people were put at risk (what if someone was walking there at that moment?). Weekly stories in the news of suicides and assaults can’t have the bigwigs at Blackstone too happy with you...
I don't men to be gruesome or insensitive but rumor has it that the workman were already in the deceased person's apartment late that afternoon painting, spackling and putting in cheap upgrades so that they could raise the rent to market rate.
ReplyDeleteManagement is joyous each time a rent-stabilized tenant dies. Another few shekels in their pocket.
May the deceased rest in peace.
REMEMBER: If you are having any mental and emotional issues, PLEASE seek help immediately.
God Bless All.
You won't read about the suicide in the Town & Village.
ReplyDeleteA management rag.
Freshly laid dog shit on 9th floor stairwell at 6** E. 14 Street this morning 8:30AM.
ReplyDeleteClassy!
Another"amenity" I guess?
"we are starting again with the ice rink. The noise will be heard in the buildings adjacent to that. Question: Is there any other residential community that has an ice rink so close to its surrounding buildings?"
ReplyDeleteThe rink at Brookfield Place in the World Financial Center is between 2 buildings, but I don't know if they're apartment buildings.
Many years ago, there was a rink at the base of the apartment building on 1st Ave and 34th St, but they took it out and made a small park.
I find it funny that Peter Stuyvesant is putting up a heat regulation guideline sheet. Typical of their uselessness. Instead of helping tenants with the problem, they post something that tenants have already seen and acted on with no results.
ReplyDelete>>You certainly do have to start believing that living here is a potential contributing factor for these 4 suicides in less than a year. Maybe it’s the noise?? Maybe it’s people struggling with rent???<<
ReplyDeleteIt could be various factors, and some come together, too. My grip is the oft-said, "Please, respect...." Etc., which basically means "shut your mouth and don't ask questions."
>>The rink at Brookfield Place in the World Financial Center is between 2 buildings<<
ReplyDeleteBriefly, I checked this rink out on the internet. It doesn't look to be in the middle of the property buildings, but there is a building close by and the occupants may hear something, though the rink is farther away than our rink. BTW, the Brookfield rink puts ours to shame. Ours is so small, but some residents with kids are satisfied. Sorry, but our rink is low class. Still used as a "selling point," though.
>>He carries orders out from above. He is not the culprit, Blackstone is. A manager follows the agenda of his bosses.<<
ReplyDeleteWhat you say is true. However, what must be asked is has someone put a gun to the manager's head and forced him to accept this position? No. So he has accepted the position (money talks), so in a way he is one of the culprits.
I really do not believe that the workmen were in the deceased's apartment the same day. The place would be cordoned off by the Police because they have to investigate. There is always an investigation when somebody commits suicide because they have to determine whether or not the person was murdered or if there was any foul play involved in any way.
ReplyDeletePlease don't spread lies because it is not helpful to anybody in any way.
Also, the incident was reported in T&V.
STR, some people post absolute garbage on this blog and they make the honest commenters look bad because if Management reads it (and they probably do) they will be even more included to write us off as a bunch of crackpot malcontents. Thank you.
"My next door neighbor pays 3 times as much as i do, and we BOTH GET THE SAME THINGS!
ReplyDeleteSUCKERS!!!!!!"
But you both suffer from an equal lack of self respect. Your best claim to fame is that you pay a fraction of what your neighbor pays to live in the same open sewer. I know, I suffer from the same lack of self respect.
If zambonie can be contained in tent why cant entire rink be tented to at least dampen noise particularly with advertised live music at rink this year?
ReplyDeleteI agree STR, and I’m beginning to think Rick is coming on here to defend himself. Rick smiles at you and tells you everything is great here, and then he follows through with the heinous acts that his bosses at Blackstone tell him to do. There is some serious sickness in a person that does that.
ReplyDeleteI would rather a manager who is a realist and painted a true picture of this place instead of a phony.
People are dying to get out of here!!!!
ReplyDelete>>STR, some people post absolute garbage on this blog and they make the honest commenters look bad because if Management reads it (and they probably do) they will be even more included to write us off as a bunch of crackpot malcontents. Thank you.<<
ReplyDeleteDepends on the comments. As for me, the top people at Management know me and I've met with them and they know I run this blog. I'm not just "a crazy voice in the wilderness."
Why is there NO HEAT?
ReplyDeleteAccording to one of the cheerleaders on the TA blog residents without heat can just put a sweatshirt on. This coming from someone with a highly heated apartment.
DeleteThis blog may have some loonies, but management can’t hide from the actual news catching wind of the assaults and suicides and covering those stories.
ReplyDeleteAs long as this string of bad press continues, we don’t have to worry about management not caring about what’s said on this blog, we have news outlets reporting the truth for the entire city to see.
And so what. Blackstone will continue to collect rents.
DeleteFact is Management is JOYOUS each time a rent-stabilized tenant dies.
ReplyDeleteA 90-something lady passed over the weekend and by Tuesday the workers were prepping the apartment for the market rate suckers who will pay three times the rent.
Not fantasy. Reality. It's all about the moolah, baby. Maximize the profits. That is Blackstone's mantra.
Just throw in a few "amenities" to fool the rubes. Money, money, mon-nay!!!
Regarding what they term the "death squad," or "death team," or something similar: I am sorry to report, BUT NOT SURPRISED, that employees of Blackstone have told me that this is in fact what is done: entering the apartment of a deceased resident AS SOON AS THEY CAN, MAYBE EVEN BEFORE THE FAMILY CAN GO THROUGH THE BELONGINGS OF THEIR DEAD LOVED ONE.
ReplyDeleteThis is "employees" - plural, and several of them, on several different occasions.
Blackstone murders trees, squirrels, grass. People. And then desecrates the homes of the dead.
It is probably literally unbelievable to many people living here that they are as morally deficient and damaging as they are. Believe it.
We don't know the half of the suffering they are knowingly, deliberately causing.
Just found out another rule that is allowed to be broken - going on the roof to take pictures! A gentleman posted a picture of the moon last night on Instagram, and Stuy Town reposted this very picture.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess it’s ok to break this rule, as long as the photo is Instagram worthy?!?! Either there are idiots in the social media department for passing this photo through, or management truly doesn’t give a shit if people do whatever the hell they please. And aren’t there expensive solar panels on the roofs now??
What about the overcharges???????????
ReplyDeleteBig disagreement on the use of the oval over on the TA page. I don’t mind the use of the oval for quiet enjoyment, but I despise the events.
ReplyDeleteWith that being said, I believe there was a reason MetLife kept everyone off the grass, and it had more to do with what is underneath the soil. Now, almost 75 years later there are tests being done on the ground underneath us? I’d be worried about coming into contact with the soil in this place, and I don’t think it’s coincidental that a lot of men who lived their whole lives here died at a fairly young age of cancer.
All of this freedom to explore the grounds is potentially exposing tens of thousands of people to an unknown that lurks directly beneath us.
Didactic nasty witches have resurfaced on the TA page. Rah!Rah!Rah!
ReplyDeleteLet me assure you there is indeed a "death team".
ReplyDeleteUnderstand there are still many older rent stabilized tenants who pay 1200-1500 per month rent for a one or even two bedroom apartment.
As soon as the old timer croaks, dollar signs light up in Blackstone's eyes.
Think of a slot machine which lights up and goes bing-bing-bing when a winner hits.
So Blackstone tries to get its crew in as soon as possible to ready the place for the next sucker...err..I mean renter who will now pay 4000 for the dump.
Remember you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
I know for a fact that they try to gain entry the VERY NEXT DAY.
Nice, huh?
I believe that Met Life kept people off the grass for aesthetic reasons. Blackstone uses the Oval events as a fake amenity to entice renters. A lot of these young yuppies use the events as cheap entertainment for their kids. At any given event you can see kids running around. Cheaper and easier than taking your kid to a current movie or museum.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day ST/PCV is a COMMUNITY of 8k apartments and 30k people (ish). Not everything is going to be to be everyone's liking. I am one of those yuppies that pays $4k to live here with my kids. They love the playgrounds, sprinklers, Oval events, Appleseeds, etc. Sure there are things I dont like; all the trash on the loops, dog shit left everywhere, etc but nowhere in NYC is perfect. I've lived in 6 different neighborhoods around the city.
ReplyDeleteYou don't like the adults Halloween party? then don't go. you complain that parents like their kids to run around outside on grass vs. sit in a movie theater or museum?? come on.
Clearly this place isn't perfect and honestly think a few calls to the Better Get Baquero type new segments would do a lot of good for pushing mgmt to clean up the loops, the heat issue, the possible water issues, etc. but saying people are committing suicide because of the stytown situation is absurd or suggesting the Oval soil is cancer causing.
