The TA, our TA, is silent so far. So is Management.
* * *
Updated: 7/19. As we wait to hear more about the hockey stick beating, it's it apparent that some residents do not travel about the city to see how other people may live. For instance there is this place, on the West side, which has some strange rules:
This may be the same community. Or one which is close by. Take a look inside. Does it remind you of our own?
They even have a church!
The greenmarket is on the sidewalk. A novel concept, that.
More of the greenmarket:
A view of the community outside:

1 – 200 of 275 Newer› Newest»My supposition is that the excuse will be the address is on the sidewalk and technically not ST or PCV. Though, of course, I have been told that the "golf carts" can ride freely here because it is Stuy Town property. Management and the TA (and Dan, who will express concern, no doubt) will be basically on the same page.
This happened on July 12. Management was hoping that this attack would never hit T&V, but it has. It now makes them look really bad, since they never addressed this.
I expect the exact same nonsense from Susan and Dan that we got after the woman was almost killed.
Maybe they are mad that Rick took away their hockey playground!! 🤣
Don't forget that our Public Safety is 24/7.
We also need the swamp cleared here. No guys from some Florida rest community, no BS from PS and our TA. No "number one priority" is to fill apartments as quickly as possible. No, the number one priority is making sure that things work the way they are supposed to work. This lack of attention on several "rules" is embarrassing and can even be life-threatening.
"Don't forget that our Public Safety is 24/7."
24/7 dozing, noshing, talking on cell phones, reading and texting on cell phones. Why the fucking hell are we paying for all these security cameras when crimes are committed right under them and nothing is done? Is it going to take a killing or rape and a major lawsuit and news coverage by the press and the television news before Hayduk and McClellan finally wake up and do their jobs? Both of those men are abysmal failures and should be fired.
As for the TA. They are totally useless. Absolutely, totally useless as a voice and advocate of tenants. They are as far up Hayduk's and Garodnick's asses that they must look like chocolate popsicles. They are total Do Nothings!
TA is busy making sure we can keep our names off of the key cards ok?
>>They are as far up Hayduk's and Garodnick's asses that they must look like chocolate popsicles.<<
A serious issue, but this really got a laugh.
Let's see how long it takes for the TA to address this on their Facebook page. I'm certainly not holding my breath. I also expect total BS to come out of their mouths when they do talk about it.
There is still nothing about it on the TA official FB page. There is a mention of it on the unofficial page that is independent of the TA and Management.
The TA posts all kinds of banal shit, but never anything that is of any use to tenants or (God Forbid!) embarrassment to Management.
Edmund has put up a link to the T & V article. The "complainers" will have something to say, if they haven't been banned, but the others...? No action from the TA, however. Prove me wrong.
I could write Management's message: "As you may have heard, there was incident.... However, need we remind residents that this did not occur inside Peter Cooper or Stuyvesant Town, but on the sidewalk outside our perimeter.... Our Public Safety is fully aware of the incident and has stepped up security to make sure all residents feel safe. Though it did not happen in our boundary, we take this incident very seriously...."
The sidewalk outside 531 on 20th street is on this property. If it's not then I don't want to see golf carts or security vans driving on there.
I hate that things say "outside" PCV. In no way does anyone consider this to be outside.
Are we clear on where this took place.
The sidewalk outside 531 East 20th Street, as per article. It shouldn't matter if this was inside the property or on 20th street, it's within the range that the 13th precinct considers to be under PCVST security patrol. For them to even consider 20th between 1st and C to be outside PCV is crazy. It's not!
Some dumb asshole has already made the kind of remark that you would expect a dumb asshole to make. (On the TA fb page)
The quality of life is going down and the crime rate is going up. It will probably get worse now that a homeless shelter is opening on 17th Street, not that the assholes who assaulted somebody with hockey sticks are from a shelter. I don't care what our corrupt and useless part-time Mayor says about NYC becoming safer. He's a liar. Btw, how many homeless shelters has he placed in Park Slope?
STR, maybe all the suits you saw earlier this week were "security consultants?" Obviously it worked great the last time they came in... oh wait
So far, this is dead issue over at the TA. Do they know something we do not?
I needed to get outside, so I checked. 531 East 20 Street is indeed in PCV "territory." If the incident was on the sidewalk, then the spot is opposite Oval Fitness.
Oh, around the Oval: Two unpicked and big dog turds. Between Oval Study and the small guardhouse. No, I did not call it in because PS will see it, no doubt.
Don't forget that PS is 24/7 and they are always watching.
Below the pinned post at the TA, someone should write: "Hockey Sticks Optional."
I doubt that Dan will have anything to say about this incident because he is never heard from anymore. It is like he he has disappeared from the ugly scene of this cesspool. As Blackstone keeps churning apartments there will be a greater chance of crimes being committed in this area. I can't really blame PS, because they are told to look the other way and not be proactive. Yesterday there were 4 moving trucks in the 14th St.loop at one point and suitcase bnbers galore. Today, Saturday, will be a moving extravaganza. I see outsiders on this property all of the time and who really knows anymore which people are outsiders and which people live here. Of course, no PS after dark. I agree that Blackstone will say that the hockey stick incident occurred of the property, their pat answer.
Has there ever been any discussion about closing the gates at night? I know that would be a logistical nightmare in ST but restricting access to a few guarded points might not be a bad thing.
>>STR, maybe all the suits you saw earlier this week were "security consultants?"<<
I don't think so. There were a lot of them. I've never seen that many. And they were smiling and pointing. More money!
From the T&V report online:
>>Two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old were arrested on Monday inside the 13th Precinct after further investigation. Police are still looking for additional suspects but the exact number of people involved is unclear because the victim could not remember how many kids approached him. The names of the teens are being withheld due to their young age. The NYPD said that the investigation is ongoing.<<
This still sounds a bit strange. I await more information. And what's with this BS of "young age." If you are going to do any crime, "young age" doesn't matter.
If Blackstone says that the attack didn't happen on the property and you believe them, I have a bridge I'm looking to sell...
That being said, people have started commenting on the TA FB page, and the crickets are still out in full force!
I cannot understand why there there cannot be a PS officer on night duty at each of the loops. If this is such a "luxury" community then make it gated. I did see for the first time a PS officer on a scooter at 3:30 AM out my window yesterday. My guess is that he wasn't patrolling, just coming back from a noise complaint.
" I can't really blame PS, because they are told to look the other way and not be proactive"
Disagree. These are grown adults of free will who are choosing to behave in manners bordering immoral and unlawful and some crossing the lines of morality and law.
July 29, 2017 at 8:58 AM Imagine if some of the teens are residents and some are Airbnb hotel guests.
>>Imagine if some of the teens are residents and some are Airbnb hotel guests.<<
Wouldn't surprise me. Also, I think the 13th had a talk with PS, where PS said they would take of it. Something stinks, as the saying goes.
Just spotted a guy with a rolling suitcase and a cellphone in his ear. Good advice to have all "guests" first go to the PS office and fill out a short form. This way, and soon, PS will know which tenant is having over a lot of these "residents." A simple cure, but I realize that PS would have to work more. Then hire more!
Guards working here at night! LOLL our landlord can't afford it, they're poor, they're not making enough money, they have plants to buy, flats to paint, people that are residents to screw over.
No security for you my friend. You haven't paid enough money for that and does your lease state security?
Of course, we always forget the monitors. 24/7. The monitors, and therefore PS, should see everything when they are watching.
Another person. This one lugging TWO very heavy suitcases!
That would expose that Blackstone Property Services are giving Airbnb hotel guests access to amenities and sports equipment. It also means the 13th is covering up crimes for Blackstone, because the tenant association, city council and city hall have spent years calling Airbnb hotels a major crime ruining affordable housing. The 13th leadership's relationship with the landlord is troubling especially in matters of tenant safety.
>>These are grown adults of free will who are choosing to behave in manners bordering immoral and unlawful and some crossing the lines of morality and law.<<
What the person said.
I still remember the PS officer who was fired for getting into an altercation with a dog-owner resident. The PS officer was just following the "rules." This happened some time ago, and may have been in CW's reign. While this doesn't absolve PS from looking the other way, I bet this incident is remembered and spoken off among the current crew at PS.
Also I bet that PS tells the 13th that they, PS, will take care of the problems, as long as the problems don't involve murder or rape. The 13rh, probably overwhelmed, is relieved. But I don't like that cozy relationship.
From where did the teens get their weapons - the hockey sticks?
This sounds like an "inside job." Again, we need to know more, but the kids of residents are not all angels. There have been incidents in the past, like graffiti, that were the result of some of these "good" kids. The silence of the TA and PS and Management is getting more and more telling.
"The silence of the TA and PS and Management is getting more and more telling."
Yes it is.
Obviously things are bad in and around this property, but I feel like it's all part of the bigger picture of what this city is becoming. I no longer feel safe walking in many parts of the city where I used to. Walking over homeless people on every block and aggressive beggars are the norm once again. Gang numbers appear to be increasing again.
If management and PS can not make us feel safe within the confines of this property, than they are failing majorly. This was something that was NEVER an issue in the past. I fear that things won't change until NYU parent guarantors catch wind of the dangers in this community, and stop allowing their kids to rent here. Incidents like this keep happening and it will be sooner rather than later.
It sounds like a combination of some kids who live here and some who are traveling with their families staying as hotel guests. The cover up is probably twofold. 1. To cover up the hotel businesses operating here. 2. To protect the hotel business operating here because what family would stay here if news got out that there are violent teen criminals on the property who will ensnare your kids into crime.
I came across this a few seconds or minutes later, but there was some trouble with the kids of "residents and their guests" at Lenz's. And the age group of these kids was closing in on 16 or 17, as reported in this incident. The Mexican workers at Lenz's don't fool around, though, and these "kids" were hustled out the store.
But, yeah, I could see residents' kids with hockey sticks and masks having a "fun" time. And I could see the powers that be saying "Don't worry; we will take care of it." And silence.
I don't think it is AirBnb, though some people I have seen give me pause. I think, if it is anything, that it is kids of "residents and their guests."
"and their guests" could very well be the traveling family staying in the hotel on their floor. A family in our building was operating a catering service to the hotel "guests" staying on the property. The operative word is "guests"
To refer to a prior post, you may very well be beaten or raped in stytown, but because of the Tenant Association's hard work that will happen without your name on your key card if you so choose.
Don't anyone dare infer that the Stytown Tenant's Association does nothing.
I wish Giuliani was mayor instead of this idiot and his CC who pander to criminals. Excuse me, I have to go take a piss outside and then jump a turnstile to get to my favorite hangout park where I can hassle and rob a few elderly people.
DeBlasio is a major fucking disaster and the scum on the City Council are the lowest of the low, especially that MMV creature.
LOL. I saw this urgent email from the TA. Yeah, not having your name on a key card is a real safety measure, and thank you, TA, for battling so hard to get one's name off it, if you so choose.
Don't forget to send in your dues!
Oh, and forget about the guy I see at the Oval right now. Extended leash a mile long and no official lanyard.
11:20 AM, the Stytown Tenantss Association is a sick joke. That huckster, Steinberg, was mouthing-off about the 17th Street shelter, but she has fuck-all to say about crime right here on the property. Well, I guess she did send a letter to Management after the attempted rape and murder, but what has she or any of her ilk done since when it comes to the lack of safety on the property?
I wonder what happened to the guy who tried to rape and murder that young woman? Have to check court calendars. I hope the young woman is suing Blackstone and McClellan because they caught the assault on camera, but did absolutely nothing to help her. She would be dead and buried now if it were not for a neighbor happening on the scene and scaring the perp away. It was the neighbor who called "PS" and got the woman help.
There has been no increase in security since that crime. In fact, the property seems darker and more sinister than it ever was at night. They don't even replace the fucking lightbulbs.
Rick, pack your sack and get your useless ass back down to Boca because when it comes to managing this property, you are an epic failure. I think you are even worse than those CWC vermin. Wait, you still employ the same substandard people, don't you?
Seriously? Is this a joke? It is not a tough battle to argue that putting your name on a building key card is a major safety risk.
Someone steals your wallet, gets your key card with your name and looks up your address on their smart phone and they are in the building within minutes of stealing your wallet. That is a major lawsuit for the landlord.
Who came up with this dumb stunt, the PR firm?
I wonder if Blackstone is being sued by the 22-year old who was assaulted and almost killed by Aaron Kish of the Bonnie Brae Home in NJ? I wonder what happened to dear little Aaron? Maybe DeBlasio adopted him.
Susan Steinberg and Dan Garodnick are complete and utter failures when it comes to this community. I expect nothing less of Rick, as he represents our landlord. On the other hand, Susan and Dan represent each and every one of us. At least they are supposed to.
I can not take anyone seriously if they continue to defend these two people or the TA, as they are a disgrace to this community.
The TA has not successfully argued anything in years. This phony argument stinks like an attempt to make the TA look like they argue with Blackstone on behalf of the tenants and even win some arguments. The TA has never won an argument, ever, not on MCI charges, dorms, anything so now they are making up arguments.
Didn't we see this with the bunker and Dan faking an argument to get a photo rendering but STR already posted it so Dan asked STR to remove the post so he could fake his "letter" argument?
The only reason I can think of that would justify having your name removed from the key card is if you lost your keys and key card together. Anybody find them could go straight to your apartment and rob it. But then, if your purse is stolen and your keys are in it and you have id, the same thing could happen.
I think the TA should focus on more important issues, such as the rise in crime on the property and the constant noise from construction, renovation, etc. They are renovating an apartment near me right now. It's Saturday folks and I would have welcomed a lie-in this morning and a bit of peace and quiet today. It's bad enough I have to listen to those execrable concerts and stupid movies because my apartment is near the Oval. I absolutely pray for heavy rain on those evenings.
1:00pm
9 moving trucks in the 20th street loop, 3 more on 20th between 1st and A. Although I'm sure most of them are fine people, these mass moves are why I worry!
I have my name on my Key Card. That way I will know who I am.
>>9 moving trucks in the 20th street loop, 3 more on 20th between 1st and A.<<
I've seen so many at the 1st Avenue loop, that there as no room for more!
BTW, if your key card is stolen, even with your name on it, you can get someone at PS to instantly invalidate it.
Of course, a monitor (don't forget those) will be able to "see" if a key card is stolen. Even with it stolen, one can only get in the bottom door that anyone can get into if they wait long enough to piggyback. You need an actual key to get into an apartment.
July 29, 2017 at 1:28 PM exactly. So there is no way a landlord would make his building vulnerable and open themselves to lawsuits because a stranger got into a building with a stolen key card. Plus PS can only invalidate it once you notice it stolen which unless you immediately notice it, a thief could have your key card for hours before it is noticed and reported. No landlord is going to institute a policy that puts the building at risk and themselves for lawsuits. They may not care about safety but they care about money and lawsuits hit the bottom line and hurt future profits.
DASNY should have paid for the security system and not tenants. The MCI for the security system is a state requirement for the students and it is not even working to keep the property safe. DHCR, DASNY, TA, Fortress CW CR and the lawyers who determined the security system MCI should be sued to high heaven.
I think the whole conversation about the key cards is ridiculous at this point. The TA has a huge problem right in front of them that they are blatantly ignoring.
STR: Where is this beautiful community on the West Side?
The FBI event last week was great. Susan does deserve a thank-you for that.
"DASNY should have paid for the security system and not tenants. The MCI for the security system is a state requirement for the students and it is not even working to keep the property safe. DHCR, DASNY, TA, Fortress CW CR and the lawyers who determined the security system MCI should be sued to high heaven."
Now, that would be a nice little project for the TA and its lawyers to get its teeth into. If they did that, I would gladly pay my $50 membership + a donation, and would volunteer my time to the TA.
>>Where is this beautiful community on the West Side?<<
Past 7 Ave, I think. Between 14 and 23 Streets. There are more communities, even here on the East Side....
"STR: Where is this beautiful community on the West Side?"
i think it is Penn South. I have friends who live there and it is very, very well run. The Management there could really put these pikers over here to shame.
>>The FBI event last week was great. Susan does deserve a thank-you for that.<<
Depends what the FBI talked about, and if it substantially helped (and how?).
Susan also walks through the property. She sees what I see, but nothing....
>>Police arrested an 83-year-old homeless man, Henry German, after he allegedly stabbed a man with an ice pick, causing his lung to collapse, and strangled a woman on First Avenue last Saturday around 3:20 p.m. German was additionally charged in connection with an assault in 2016 that also resulted in the victim’s lung collapsing. He was arrested at the corner of Peter Cooper Road and First Avenue but police said the incidents happened near 495 First Avenue at East 29th Street.<<

4:12, are you kidding? First off, what was this FBI event, and why does nobody seek to know a thing about it? Secondly, our problems are not problems that the FBI deals with, so this event has no bearing on the everyday issues we are facing. And finally, Susan Steinberg deserves absolutely nothing that resembles a thank you. She owes this community apologies, a lot of them.
>>I have friends who live there and it is very, very well run. The Management there could really put these pikers over here to shame.<<
I have a feeling, and it is just a feeling, that if one of us found ourselves in such a community, where things actually work via the quality of life issues, we would cry and cry, knowing the crap we had to put up with here in our community. And, no, it doesn't mean that I'm moving, because the affordable rent ship has already sailed.
People are afraid to comment on the hockey stick attack and ruffle managements feathers. That's the only thing I can think of with 16 comments on a thrift shop thread and 6 on the attack.
I think it's just best to forget about the TA. Just ignore it and forget it exists. It serves absolutely no purpose and is a total waste of time to even think about, let alone get angry about. Let's just face the fact that we do not have a TA. We used to, many years ago; but then we also had clean dog-free grounds and beautiful trees and flower beds. Everything has changed. The TA has no more relevance now than the long-defunct waiting list to get an apartment in here.
Hoping for anything from the TA is like hoping that the automat will come back. It's gone. Dead. Irrelevant. Let's put it out of our minds and move on.
So far not a beep out of "Peter Stuyvesant."

I wonder if "Peter Stuyvesant" knows about this? Named after a slaveholder and an anti-Semite. Bad, very bad.

About the hockey stick crime or the "FBI event"
There is definitely more to the hockey stick crime then meets the eye.
There is definitely less to this "FBI event" .. seriously is this even a real event or just another lie among many lies and is it legal to lie about FBI events? You can't lie to them but are you allowed to lie about them holding events?

The TA is absolutely silent about the attack with hockey sticks. They have said absolutely nothing. Management has said nothing either. None of them gives a damn about the increase in crime on the property and the threat to life and limb. I swear, the Trump Whitehouse is better managed than this dump.
More high-rise projects, more construction. More assume the prone position and say "More Master, please!"

In the press recently SL Green owns Cuomo and his re-election and the midtown councilman is Cuomo's minion.

Regarding hockey stick attack PS has repositioned cameras to include hockey stick. Mgt has hired a referee & 2 linesmen to address thus egregious example of offsides.
The silence by the TA and StuyTown property services speaks volumes. There is more to this story that they want covered up entirely.
Garodnick can still show up for press conferences about his midtown rezoning, but he won't even make so much as a statement regarding an attack that took place a few buildings away from where he and his family live. Dan is truly a POS.
>>The silence by the TA and StuyTown property services speaks volumes.<<
Something is going on. I've never seen this kind of "silence." As if nothing happened and we (the complainers of course) are dreaming.
It has to involve hotel "guests"
The dirty corrupt DOB, City Council, Mayor Office Criminal Justice OSE and state attorney general made a very big deal about illegal short term stay hotels being reckless and highly dangerous to communities while the TA with their PR firm and law firm PAUL WEISS pursued a StuyTown case. They went on and on and on and on about the dangers illegal hotel operators bring to their communities while hypocritically ignoring dozens of StuyTown Airbnb ads and hunting one case. What a bunch of hypocrites, frauds and liars.
I think I have it figured out.
There are about 5% that are TA supporters (that's being very generous), 5% realists (complainers in their mind), and 90% that just don't know what really goes on (and probably doesn't care).
They are silent because they don't want that 90% to find out about the incidents. With very few people reading T&V, there are probably about 80% of the people here that have no idea of this attack, and management and the TA want to keep it that way!
Nothing is going on. It is the typical preparation period before issuing the usual lame statement. Black stone reads our comments and laughs all the way to the bank.
There is always the STR blog to shine a light. Yeah, keep silent!
My thought is that T & V will make some statement in the next issue and that we may read a comment from Management. May. I think it is more likely that this hockey attack is the work of ST "kids" and that PS will say that they are dealing with it, thank you.
Doubtful July 30, 2017 at 11:42 AM. They are sweating bullets and coming up with ways to spin and cover up. The crime happened July 12, the arrest happened July 24 and the T&v reported it July 27. For a crime that took place July 12, the landlord has an obligation to immediately inform the community within a day or even days to be aware of their surroundings in the area of the crime until it is determined how the crime happened in the first place.
July 12 is a long time ago for Blackstone to be preparing their lame statement.
From T&V
Police arrested three teenagers on Monday for a robbery outside Peter Cooper Village that took place earlier this month.
A 47-year-old man told police that a group of kids with masks over their faces approached him on the sidewalk outside 531 East 20th Street on Wednesday, July 12 around 11:50 p.m. The victim said that the teens whacked him in the head and body with hockey sticks and took his cell phone before fleeing the scene.
"The FBI event last week was great. Susan does deserve a thank-you for that."
Susan should let us know when the FBI has an event on "How to deal with an active attempted rape and murder situation which is taking place under an unwatched security camera." Or: "How to deal with an active attack by a bunch of goons with hockey sticks which is taking place under an unwatched security camera."
"f management and PS can not make us feel safe within the confines of this property, than they are failing majorly. This was something that was NEVER an issue in the past. I fear that things won't change until NYU parent guarantors catch wind of the dangers in this community, and stop allowing their kids to rent here. Incidents like this keep happening and it will be sooner rather than later."
I personally know two families out in suburbia whose kids are going to attend NYU this fall and they have gotten wind of how lousy and dangerous this place is (and I swear they didn't hear it from me!) and they are arranging for their kids to live in real dorms. I was able to confirm what they had heard, but they had already heard from their "network" that StuyTown is a badly-managed dorm with faux security. Parents of these kids going off to college tend to have their antennas up and network with each other because they do worry about the safety of their kids. They had heard about the attempted rape and murder and asked me if I had heard about it!
I assured them that I had and that absolutely nothing has changed here as a result of that incident. In fact, if you listen to the Citizen App, you will hear of a lot of incidents that never make it to T&V's Police Blotter.
Peter Stuyvesant had been quiet on FB since news of the attack came out, until now. And guess what, they completely ignored it and posted something else.
I am heading out and about on the property now. If I see Rick, Dan, or Susan, I plan to stop them to have a talk about this and get to the bottom of the silence. It's no longer acceptable.
BS is taking advantage of the millions here who cannot go. The rentals around us and even in other boroughs are same price and many times higher. Class action?
What about those overcharges? ya, no one has any caJones here.
The Tenants Association at best are a bunch of over-the-hill hucksters and political hacks.
At worst, they are criminally liable for misappropriation of funds.
How about opening up the books for inspection?
Ain't gonna happen!
DA Cyrus Vance should look into possible ( probable? ) malfeasance.
Anyone who sends $50 to these scoundrels is a fool!
The TA blog is awash with joy over the new fitness playground. Any crumb that Blackstone throws their way excites the management groupies.Whoopdee do, working out in 80 degree temperatures. Another crap amenity. Where do they get their ideas!
>>In anticipation of the opening of the new Fitness Playground, SPS will be coordinating a photo shoot on Monday (7/31) which will include a small, low flying drone. This photo shoot will take place for a short time during the day and should not cause any disturbance. Thank you.<<
This seems, well, you read this:

https://www.quora.com/Where-can-people-fly-drones-legally-in-NYC
http://www.uavsystemsinternational.com/drone-laws-by-country/united-states-drone-laws/
Dare I say it? The TA should be monitoring this.
For those who thought the new gym playground was NOT going to be used as a promotion.... LOL.
When MetLife ran this place, in the rare instance that a crime took place on the property (which happened to be on the doorstep of one of the most concentrated high-crime areas of the whole City) a notice would go up in every building with a description of the perp and a warning to be on the look-out. They did not try to cover up anything because it made them look bad. These goons cover up everything because they are afraid of looking bad, but what they are too damned stupid to realize is that people find out and then Management (and the pathetic TA) look really bad. They look really bad because it is obvious that they are afraid of any negative publicity about the place because they are desperate to churn these apartments. I think the TA's silence is because they are under the total control of Management and dare not say a word.
I agree with an above poster who said that anybody who gives $50 (or even fifty cent, as far as Im concerned) to the TA is a fool.
Enjoy that free fitness playground while you can... I guarantee there will be a charge to use it next year (think Oval amenity charges).
Not just that, but if the new gym is open to the elements (and it is) chances are that it will need to redone periodically, as otherwise it will be a mess.
BTW, did you see who is cheerleading this amenity? Someone who definitely needs a gym, as well as the other person, though to a lesser extent. I'd love to see both women run the track! I may even watch. BTW, this other person I see all the time with her husband, as they walk their pitbull or pitbull mix. Not concerned at all about her neighbors.
Oh, that NYC site says that the flying of drones is illegal in Manhattan. But we shall see.
LOL. Instant delete. And it makes me happy.
Now go back and cheerlead some more.
The two ladies who were cheerleading still have their posts up. I'm assuming it's the one who just can't wait for it to open and the one who chimed in with her.
The cheerleaders are still.there. You must have thought some collapsed comments were gone. I don't care about the stupid outdoor "gym" but I do care that there has been no comment from management or the TA about the assault by a bunch of goons with hockey sticks. Don't they care?
One lady on the TA Facebook said only 2 PS officers had signed up to patrol the perimeter of the property from early afternoon till 2:30 am. That's unacceptable. Management should hire more officers and make it not an option to patrol overnight. Why do we not have NYPD patrolling the perimeter? They instal those useless, unwatched cameras, charge us an outrageous MCI and we are less safe than we ever were! What corruption these shysters get away with!
There needs to be an exposé of this stinking dump and the crooks who run it. If only a courageous journalist would step up to the plate.
Oh, they can cheerlead all they want on the TA Facebook. They can't do it here because of the truth and because I have photos.
Speaking of the TA, why is it still silent about that hockey incident? Seems the TA just wants to ignore it....
Ya aint gonna win. This management refuses to pay for it so if you're looking for more security they gonna find a way to make us all pay / us all/ us all. MR & me. Getting high with the MCI non stop.
So PS does sign-ups for nighttime watch? What the hell is this? They need to hire people to work the nighttime shift, who are dedicated to that shift. Every night.
I am just curious, what percentage of tenants are still here from the MetLife days? Although MetLife began the apartment conversion project (probably part of a long term strategy to get a better price for the property), living here was an entirely different experience. Are all the people who think the property is so wonderful newer tenants who have lived with this crap since they moved in? Has it always been like this in their minds? Is that why they are blind to how bad things are?
I certainly remember MetLife. As I said, I think, I was nudged awake by a security guard because I was dozing in the Oval area. Back then, security at the Oval fountain was nearby and manned continually, and the grass area was closed to everyone. Now, unless you run over PS with your bicycle, it seems like the Wild West, though I'm insulting the Wild West, I think.
As I expressed, I believe a good part of the new crowd doesn't know the "old days," and takes current Management's view that they are living in NYC, so keep quiet and be thankful, even if you are paying 5K for your apartment. Current Management, as well as the previous one, has successfully bullied (if you want to use that term) the new residents into being silent and not make waves. Gone, for the most part, are the people who cared about this city and were willing to fight for it.
Then there are the dog-lovers for whom this complex can do no wrong, unless it is to not allow more space for Fido to shit or piss. They love it here, and if you say anything that is negative, you are labeled as one who hates dogs and life.
The community spirit is largely gone. Just look at our current TA if you need proof.
Money dictates some of my choices. I was just thinking about this earlier. If I had the money (which I don't), I would not live here, knowing what I know and seeing what I see. There are places, even in Manhattan, that put this place to shame. But you need some good dough.
I grew up here in the 80's and 90's, and the differences are night and Day.
1) This place used to be about community. It was like one big 25,000 member family. Now it is all about money, nothing more nothing less. Any sense of community is gone when your neighbors are coming and going every year.
2) Security (not this PS crap) was a force. They did their job and you didn't mess with them. Now they are a skeleton of what they once were. McClellan along with TS completely gutted and declawed this once efficient and proud group of guards.
3) Crime was never an issue on this property. EVER! Sure you didn't go south of 14th street until 1995, but the crime stayed away as well. And management trying to cover up assaults and robberies? Unfortunately for them there are apps where we can get the actual crimes going on here.
I could go on for quite some time, but I will let others chime in. The days of this property ended when TS purchased, now we are just in the long period of nights.
Oh, and to anyone who says MOVE, once I have a kid I am out of here so don't worry about me. No way I raise my kid in the place where I grew up and have so many memories of.
I too remember the Met Life days when this place was a pristine oasis. Many of the Blackstone cheerleaders are likely to be newer tenants, but I do know some older tenants who have been snowed under by Rick and the PR machine. Rick had done a great job of this. This place gets worse and worse under this management. Even though Tishman Speyer and Capital Crock were evil, there was never this much churning of apartments.
I am a long time tenant and I can tell you that this place bears very little resemblance, physically and atmospherically, to how it was under MetLife. We had a real security force and we had a real TA. There was very little crime on the property and this was accomplished by a crack security force and no cameras. What we have now is pathetic. Some of them do the best job they can, under the circumstances, but most are lazy, out-of-shape guys who seldom look up from their phones. McClellan is a total failure and I. don't know how he keeps his job.
As for the TA, that organization exists in name only.
"Money dictates some of my choices. I was just thinking about this earlier. If I had the money (which I don't), I would not live here, knowing what I know and seeing what I see. There are places, even in Manhattan, that put this place to shame. But you need some good dough."
So STR you're saying that if you had the cash you would pay more than twice the rent somewhere else? I wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, I think stytown has become a cesspool, but I'm living here at a ridiculous rent. Granted, eventually one should strive for some dignity in life and leave, but this housing project is enabling me to save a lot of money so that one day I can leave (the entire city).
I just can't believe that people would actually pay market rate rents to live in this filthy, unsafe dump.
Why wait for the kid to be born?
Is it true the met life leftovers still have several apartments each and sublet those out?
I don't think so, but I do not know. My hunch is that is easy to go and get an apartment here and then AirBnb it so that money is made.
11:19
Haha absolutely not! Tishman Speyer ended that the minute they took over. Any advantage you had as a "MetLife" person is long long gone. I know, because I am/was a MetLife person.
>>So STR you're saying that if you had the cash you would pay more than twice the rent somewhere else?<<
Only if I had a lot of money. Basically if money was not a concern. Sure I would live someplace else. Why live here? If one likes the grounds, just visit if you are close by. Other people do that. They come here on a nice day, enjoy what they like, and leave.
11:18 - I work in midtown and have an RS apartment, so I think that answers your question. Once a kid comes in gone, but not before my roommate brother takes over my apartment by ROS. And I'm an attorney, so I'm not worried about the ROS fight they are bound to try.
"Is it true the met life leftovers still have several apartments each and sublet those out?"
NO, it is NOT true! Don't drink the jealous MR Kool Aid!
In 445 E. 14 St. Terrace Level the light over the mail boxes has been out for weeks.
How long does it take to change a freakin' light bulb?
Dingy and a security issue.
This place is looking more and more like the "projects" each day.
The filth in the hallways is appalling.
Way to go, Rick!
Nearly 4 grand floor a one-bedroom.
What a bargain!
Line up, suckers!
You think crimes is bad now, the element they are looking to bring into living here is a real mixed bag of lowlifes. This is the vision that the City Councilman, TA developers have for building luxury pleasure dome housing for on this land:
"the sun-drenched pleasure dome for reality TV stars, aging playboys and affluent Russians (or any International Oligarch billionaire Bloomberg said he loves to fill the city with and Blackstone said they will take money from anyone, anywhere, any source illicit or legit) remain intact.
It is a spot that is both exclusive and a little hokey, where those with jet-setter schedules, gilded tastes and an appreciation for luxury, models and discretion come together."

You know I can't mention certain names unless it is fact based. LOL.
There are certain times when it gets too much. The good response is lots of laughter.
Seen:
A large group of, eh, let's call them young professionals, around that wooden stand inside the Oval. Pizza boxes open, people on the stand, some with Frisbees, a couple with a football throwing it about the Oval.... Then at the fountain, another young professional getting his feet and lower legs continually wet inside the fountain...
No, PS officer in sight, though he was there a moment ago.
Folks, it is gonna get worse.
"Is it true the met life leftovers still have several apartments each and sublet those out?"
Not sure how you, as a market rater, found this out, but oh the memories......
Those days, at least for me, are long over. But yeah, there was money to be made here back in the day.
I would think the same thing is still going on with people renting out apartments and putting them on air bnb though. Who knows, they may even be making more than us natives did way back when.
I think that there are many people who are now experiencing what you described as growing up in the 80s and 90s. The moms of young children post a lot on social media these days about how great it is here. As for how the grounds look, the 90s was a time of groundskeeper cutbacks. Not as nicely landscaped as now. I raised a family in the 90s here in ST and I loved the community family spirit. I'm just saying that the current families still seem to appreciate this community for the same family kid-centered values you describe as somehow a thing of the past... Check out PSLL--thriving. Scouts-check. Hockey and soccer-yessiree... PS40 highly sought after... etc

The Albany City Hall / Council Masterplan for PCV ST

This shallow-billionaire-superficial-lowlife was the plan to replace the peaceful, quiet middle class until the President of China put a stop to the developer who bought a superyacht manufacturer and had his sights set on Blackstone development of PCV.
Supermodels, Yachts, and Real Estate
An entrepreneur takes clients out on a yacht filled with super models.
By Daniel Harding Jr. June 9, 2010
New York City Entrepreneur and real estate broker Paolo Zampolli takes his clients to see their potential homes by way of the Hudson River.Zampolli brings his top end clients aboard his $800,000 Baia One Italian Yacht. While this sales tactic is common practice in Florida, Zampolli is the first to bring this concept to the Northeast.
Leaving from Chelsea Piers in Manhattan, Zampolli shows his clients buildings from the yacht. After they select buildings they would like to see up close, Zampoli then takes them for a site tour in his Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Sparing no expense to ensure his clients receive high-end treatment he fills his vessel with super models that double as brokers from ID Model, an agency he owns.
“Runway, catwalk, real estate,” said Angie Everhart, a model and broker for Zampolli. “I really don’t see the tie-in, but you have to be good with people.
“They are beautiful ladies and they are used to meeting the most rich and powerful people in the world,” said Zampolli.

The Florida invasion who want to superyacht and private-plane-fly into the newly developed PCV once the icky eyesore middle class is cleared out. Odd is the discrepancy between their talent and their financial success.
"Movie-star couple Kelly Preston and John Travolta’s house is located in a “Fly-In” community in Anthony, FL. The couple was one of the first to purchase land in the Jumbolair Aviation Estates, the residential airpark where they live. Their estate is located adjacent to Jumbolair Airport, a private-use airport."

These are the kind of peeps the senators, governor, all the NY politicians want to attract to NY to replace the entire middle class. They love money, press headlines, and TV fame.
Yes, it is going to get worse. Much worse. Bravo TV housewife, million dollar listing, food and talent reality contests much worse.
"Is it true the met life leftovers still have several apartments each and sublet those out?"
No. But some former and present on the TA board did and still do have multiple leases in PCV and ST.
The Playground gym will start to host competitions they will try to televise too!
Think of the cheesiest sports entertainment events and they will be televising it here soon. There is nothing more cheesy then the property services that has been in place since Tishman Speyer BlackRock and their investors moved in 2006. This property is on its way to becoming a cheesy commercialized game show.
"No. But some former and present on the TA board did and still do have multiple leases in PCV and ST."
BS. Bogus. No fing proof. As I have posted before, one can hit the TA for many legit reasons. This is not legit.
1;42. NOT A MARKET RATER AND WE KNOW THERE ARE.
"Is it true the met life leftovers still have several apartments each and sublet those out?"
No. But some former and present on the TA board did and still do have multiple leases in PCV and ST.
*******
You have proof of that? Know that for a fact? I doubt it.
In the days of MetLife, nobody dared illegally sublet their apartment unless they were willing to get kicked out as soon as the LL found out. And they did find out. I knew people who tried to get away with it and found themselves evicted pronto. Couldn't blame them for trying, I guess, but it was very risky unless you really didn't care.
MetLife was a very good LL, but not a stupid one. They had their ways and means of keeping track of tenants who violated their leases in a serious way. There was a waiting list, remember, and they didn't have to bribe tenants to bring in a friend; they didn't have to resort to gimmicks and tacky "amenities" to fill the units. The moment one tenant left, there was a spruce-up of the unit and within a week or so (long enough for the paint to dry) there was a very happy camper moving in.
The difference between the reign of MetLife and the current regime is like the difference between chalk and cheese. I've been here for 40 years and I know of what I speak.
The outdoor gym sounds like a left over idea from that dorm-building Oval wrecking special servicer Fortress CW Capital Compass Rock.
Fortress never had an original idea when they were or are still here managing the property. They are completely incapable of an original idea. This out door gym sounds like the wannabe American Ninja Warrior knock-off party that STR blog noted a while back that the former property services manager Fortress doofus has at his home on Long Island.
Since the Fortress doofus is not pretty enough to host the StuyTown Ninja Warrior event, they need a meathead with an empty head and pretty face to host.
Someone hit a truth nerve
I also agree. The TA sucks and is useless, and really doesn't even need to exist at this point, but they do not have members with multiple leases. End of story.
LOLLLL. The jealousy/resentment from these MR types who post here is truly hilarious.
No one did this. No one. Know why? bc met life vetted tenants and kept strict, accurate records on who lived here and who signed leases. It was highly sought after, so no one broke the rules.
It's now a shithole and a dump, is not highly sought after--quite the opposite-- and the quality of the people who rent at MR is, likewise, in the toilet.
who the hell wants multiple leases? one is too many for me.
you can airbnb somewhere else, that doesnt require keycards.
I cannot believe all the positive hype about that fitness playground. What a crock. You can run around the Oval and I certainly would not want to work out outside during the summer. When it opens you will see pictures of Rick grinning away in T&V. Another stupid useless non-amenity.
If anyone has a name or names of "old timers" with multiple leases, please send the info here and I will not "pass" the info, but I will check it out and then report back. Obviously, anonymity guaranteed.
I have not heard of such a thing, excepting a current owner (landlord) who houses apartments for the landlord's use.
>>I cannot believe all the positive hype about that fitness playground. What a crock. You can run around the Oval and I certainly would not want to work out outside during the summer. When it opens you will see pictures of Rick grinning away in T&V. Another stupid useless non-amenity.<<
As I wrote, I am expecting to see all the boosters of this new gym playground out there and sweating pounds out. Since it is open, anyone can sit around and watch while sipping coffee and eating donuts.
Hardly "end of story". It is just getting started. Members with multiple leases is just the tip of the iceberg.
Jealous of what,I love our place, pay much less than you, under 1200 a month. NO one jealous but you.
STR, let us know about the crowds and noise. I wonder how long it will be before it's considered a disaster.
I will continue paying for my gym that has AC in the summer and a roof/walls in the winter.
The so-called "fitness Playground" is truly an abomination.
Wait until the first few days of hype pass.
Our newest "amenity" will be remain empty not counting the winos, homeless and crusties who congregate on the outside benches already.
Imagine what this slum waiting to happen will look like in winter covered with snow. A soon to be rusting hulk.
Don't you see this is a grand plan ( nefarious though it may be ) to knock down the playground in a couple of years and build, baby, build.
That's the name of the game!
Nice job, Rick!
Bikini Susan and all the Tenant Association neutered leadership:
You are vile and corrupt. Not only have you done NOTHING to help this community, you are complicit in its destruction.
GO AWAY!
Mark my words... if the fitness park is popular, which I have no doubt it will be (I know a lot of tenants who drop the gym membership just to afford to live here), there will be a charge to use the fitness park by by 1/1/18. It will be free for new tenants moving in (as a "perk"), and everyone else will have to pay.
The RS cheerleaders won't be so happy when that happens!
LOL. Now Management will place a sign (if not more) outside to inform people that we have a new gym. Photo included.
For those who thought this was just for you, forget about it. Management is going to hype this "gym" for all it is worth, just to get prospective buyers into the place.
How about just maintaining the rules? Gee, what a novel concept!
This "gym" is really is a gift from Management, but I don't think the way this gift is intended. STR will be watching. Maybe I'll bring coffee and have a seat. The seats circle the entire "gym" and are already being used during lunchtime.
Warning, though: It can get hot out there during the summer.
STR, can you stop posting this person making wild and crazy TA member accusations regarding apartments? Listen I hate the TA and think they are vile and corrupt, but letting this persons posts through only hurts the legitimacy of all that you do as well as the actual crap the rest of us posters see and comment on.
If they have proof, then they should be showing it.
You are certainly correct about proof. How's about it--some proof. I offered to read it and decide. So far, nothing.
The cheerleaders won't use it as a normal gym. For one, it is open to elements. Wait when bad weather gets here. And some won't use it because they are all talk and no action. And they are lazy. "Isn't it wonderful!" Then get your ass over there! LOL.
I use the Asser Levy gym, btw. Fits my needs, the price is right, there is a roof over my head, and I'm not afraid of minorities.
Jealous of what,I love our place, pay much less than you, under 1200 a month. NO one jealous but you.
August 1, 2017 at 7:00 AM
Ha. You don't pay less than me. and you're crowded into a one bd with yr disgusting room mates. MR is paying 6x more than me, and upwards. Y'all are morons.
Is this place so violent the Tenant Association is anticipating mass gun attacks? What is up with the FBI presentation on gun attacks in StuyTown? Did a mailer go out to the parents of the students for a possibility of a campus shooting? Has there been any campus shootings or guns on campus that prompted this?
What is the truth about guns on this campus?
How unsafe is this place?
"Jealous of what,I love our place, pay much less than you, under 1200 a month. NO one jealous but you."
No one said the real RS tenants were jealous. It's the market rate tenants who are jealous. At least some of them are. They think we are little old biddies, clipping coupons and waiting to hand our apartments down to our undeserving children.
STR, would the Asser Levy gym be suitable for an elderly fat lady like myself? I need to go to a gym, but I don't want to go to one that has these sylph-like twenty-somethings who might make fun of me.
Check out the TA FB page. Management is installing an AT&T antenna on the roof of 19-21 SO. Will Dan and the TA react?
What's next and how much abuse can these 75 year old buildings take?? Hopefully the engineers checked the weight capacity of the roof before starting to load these up there. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't and the roof caves in.
Received an email blurb from SPS today concerning the new outdoor gym. The last paragraph is scary, but we can't say we haven't been warned!
"SPS has committed to improving the recreational amenities at PCVST and the Fitness Playground is the first of more to
come."
>>STR, would the Asser Levy gym be suitable for an elderly fat lady like myself? I need to go to a gym, but I don't want to go to one that has these sylph-like twenty-somethings who might make fun of me.<<
I've not seen or heard anyone being made fun of at Asser Levy. Conversely, I think people appreciate someone who is "trying." This person may even get help, if they need it.
Just out of curiosity, did anyone receive an email from Rick about taking a survey? I received it late yesterday.
I cannot imagine working out in that new outdoor playground on a day like today. I am sure that there will be publicity and photos galore if this so called amenity. I was happy to work out in the AC confines of the 14th St Y today.
>>Just out of curiosity, did anyone receive an email from Rick about taking a survey? I received it late yesterday.<<
Not I. But I have to check.
>>"SPS has committed to improving the recreational amenities at PCVST and the Fitness Playground is the first of more to
come."<<
They haven't clue, it seems. So, yeah, fear the changes. Whenever you see "suits," you know that sooner or later there will be a change.
All these changes, but this attack on the property continues to get swept under the rug. It's unbelievable that we still have not heard a damn thing from management, Dan, or the TA.
Tell us something... anything!
All designed to attract the demo if NYU students and tourist.

"unless they were willing to get kicked out as soon as the LL found out.... I've been here for 40 years and I know of what I speak.
July 31, 2017 at 6:44 PM"
LOL ! Right, so that's why I sublet an apartment from a friend for over 10 years, and when my name finally came up on the list, passed the sublet on to a relative of another friend. The difference was that MetLife KNEW all of us, and as long as nobody was making trouble (in any way, shape or form) they looked the other way. It was a stable community then, none of this bullshit lease churning crap.
Everything on this blog pans out as true. It takes a little time sometimes. Over time no doubt the commentator will expose the multiple leasing offenders.
And the cheerleading for the new fitness playground continues on the TA blog . Lots of luck to the cheerleaders working out in 90 degree weather. Also lots of luck in keeping that crap amenity neat and spiffy.
No surprise

From the July 3 2014 Letter to the Editor Town & Village Newspaper
Who’s serving on TA committees?
To the editor,
It seems like almost a daily occurrence that we hear from the Tenants Association on topics such as two-piece bathing suits, dogs, MCIs and rent freezes.
These usually come from press releases, newspaper articles, rallies and meetings, but often only repeating what our electeds have already said. Who are the directors and what do they do? The TA website lists 15 directors including two presidents emeritus.
We learned recently from the candidates’ bio that the TA has many committees. These include the executive, legal and conversion committees in addition to a special committee on elections. One of this year’s candidates was the chair of the special election committee.
With our future once again up in the air, maybe it is time the TA exchange a press release for some real information about exactly what all of these committees do, especially the Conversion Committee. They keep asking for our support. But what are we supporting? We need some details.
Name withheld, ST
I was on the wait list for seven years, which at the time was relatively short. Today there are 58 apartments listed for rent on the official website.
Is StuyTown Campus now under threat to college campus mass shootings?
Is that why ST-PCV Tenants Association President Susan Steinberg with FBI agent Jin Kim gave a warning what-to-do seminar? Mass shootings on college campuses is rampant in the U.S.
What is going on?
Are the FBI and ST-PCV Tenants Association President Susan Steinberg anticipating mass shootings on the StuyTown campus?
Is there a real threat or is it just that now that we are a college campus it is a likelihood occurrence?
Violent crimes is on the rise in StuyTown. Communication with more details on this threat of mass shootings occurring on the NYU StuyTown Campus are needed from the FBI agent.
Is the FBI warning StuyTown residents that college campus mass shootings can and are likely to occur?
When did washing the benches for an hour plus in the morning become a thing?
Way too much senseless machine noise pollution way too early for what purpose exactly?
Noise is the name of the game here, and it will never end.
Speaking of noise, or, accurately, lack of noise, there is still no comment from those "in charge" about the incident with hockey sticks and masks that occurred--what?--several weeks ago. I do think I am correct, and that the incident has been purposefully kept quiet by those "in charge," while "things" are taken care of in a hush-hush way. Which suggests to me that kids of residents were involved. Also involved is the notion that we, the underlings, do not deserve to hear the news.
Here is how the Tenant Association used to alert tenants of crimes. This specific alert is for "Burglaries Plus Unauthorized Apartment Entry in Stuyvesant Town" which is a very big and growing problem still.
The Tenant Association scrubbed their website to erase and alter history but they somehow missed the actual alert in their scrubbing. So the first link works while the send link goes to the Tenant Association scrubbed page that states "The page you were looking for was not found." Why is the Tenant Association scrubbing their website to erase history?

STR, what attack?? It seems that is the stance that management, the TA, and Dan are taking. Never happened...
Also, billionaire former Mayor Bloomberg's girlfriend, Diana Taylor, holds a seat on the board of directors at Brookfield.

"Ms. Taylor serves on the board of directors of Sotheby’s, Citigroup Inc., Citibank NA, and Brookfield Properties."

De Blasio's successful scheme bitch slapping Garodnick/TA Board into surrendering their phony Brookfield condo scam and, more crucially, handing their defrauded, disenfranchised PCVST residents' exclusive access to $2.7 Billion Fannie Mae purchase funding over to Blackstone without a whimper was masterminded by his Deputy Mayor for Housing Alicia Glen floating out the word our corrupt NYC Mayor's Office was for sale. Just drop an extremely generous amount of $$$,$$$ into the mayor's political slush fund, grandstand loud support for his pre-school program, then whisper PCVST into his ear. So, we have to look at her Goldman Sachs history for incestuous Wall Street predator relationships.

Brookfield and/or Blackstone could never dream of successfully realizing Speyer's spectacularly failed business plan to rake in multiple billion dollar windfalls booting our historic, world renowned, middle class community out of PCVST without essential support from our NYC Mayor de Blasio, our NYC Councilman Garodnick (lifetime PCVST resident) and our PCVST TA Board (Worst TA in NYC History), all elected to defend us against REBNY/Wall Street predators Speyer, Moelis, Brookfield, Fortress and Blackstone. Instead, they took dirty, filthy REBNY/Wall Street $$$$$ to betray all their 25,000 PCVST constituents/neighbors, all of us, every single one of us. Do not distinguish between a legal bribe and an illegal bribe paid and accepted to procure the same result. Corrupt politicians enact unethical legislation to legalize bribery. The legal bribe is still a bribe. Betrayed, disenfranchised PCVST residents are victims of Honest Services Fraud.
Mother of all affordable preservation deals? Ha! No!
Tremendous middle class victory? Hell No!
Lottery + Waiting List + Unverified Financial Disclosure = RECIPE FOR CORRUPTION
Speyer wins! This awful, terrible, horrendous PCVST outcome did not have to happen. Lacking honest elected representation, disenfranchised PCVST residents LOST EVERYTHING.
There is no "in charge" and "underlings"
No one here is above us
We are not subservient or submissive to anyone
Just because tenant rights are not honored in NYC does not mean that anyone is above us or in charge of us.
They do not employ us
They are not our boss
They are not even an authority of any kind
We have a business contract where we lease space and they have to honor that contract just as we do - equally so
Anyone can put on a suit
It is what is inside that suit that matters, and these are a lot of empty suits who look important because they come into a residential area in business clothes.
That does not make them important, or an authority, or any smarter (at all!)
You put on a suit an go to their home when they are dressed in casual attire and bully them, condescend to them, and see how they like it
Per The City Council "Hearing"
Statement from Senator Liz Krueger
"Putting Neighbors At Risk - IJlegal hotel operations mean, at a minimum, a regular stream of relatively un-vetted strangers coming into and out of residential buildings. That can create serious quality-of-life problems and safety for neighbors, at a minimum - sleepless nights caused by overcrowded neighboring apartments packed with loud tourists, for example. But it can get far worse.
My office has heard of buildings burglarized and neighbors assaulted by strangers who might never have had access to get inside, were it not for illegal hotel activity"
It is a good bet they are covering up that the hockey stick gang included hotel guests.
"Also involved is the notion that we, the underlings, do not deserve to hear the news."
We need to make sure that the news gets out on Yelp and other sites, as well as word of mouth to warn prospective victims about this place, the management and the lousy "TA."
