Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.
Stuy Town hereafter will be known as the "projects". I salute all you rubes and suckers paying 4 to 6 grand monthly to live in what is commonly known as PigStuyTown. Transients, students and Airbnbers are the only residents now. No more families. Too bad. When I told someone I live in Stuyvesant Town they said, "Oh, you mean, the 'projects'". Hahahahaha!
Huge dog taking a shit by the bulk drop off area on the 1st Avenue Loop. Woman with the beast casually walks away. Stunned onlooker politely confronts woman and says, "Shouldn't you pick up after your dog, Miss?" Woman, looking shocked and somewhat irritated says airily, "Oh, don't worry. The porters or maintenance men will take care of it." She and her mastodon then calmly strolled away. UNBELIEVABLE!
Live in the North West oval. Was awakened this morning at 5am to construction noise from 14th street. Until I went out, constant beeping from construction of ice skating rink. Now, loud music, and I use the term loosely! All we want is lead and quiet!
I saw the throngs at the Halloween Festivities on the Oval yesterday. A Public Safety Officer told me he would be surprised if 10% of the attendees were actual Stuyvesant Town residents. Love those "amenities", Rick! All the people here want is a little peace and quiet. Is that too much to ask?
@4:30 PM: I wish you had taken a photograph of that "lady" and her dog and the pile of shit it left behind. You could have then sent the photograph to Rick and PS. I really wish they would start strictly enforcing the quality of life rules because we are living in a filthy, noisy, deteroriating slum now. Yes, I said SLUM and if that offends anybody, tough shit!
Well, normally there is urine in the stairwell in the morning. I guess due to Halloween the stairwell was out of the question and it was in the lobby outside the stairwell this morning.
As we see Petite A beille shut down, I must ask, where is our councilman? He fought during his aggressive as hell campaign as a community man, the son of a small-business owner, yet all we hear again are crickets.
Powers - it’s time to step up and stop being a REBNY tool, otherwise I will guarantee you have only one term.
As a polite reminder, all dog owners should have their dogs registered and the lanyard displayed from the leash handle effective Friday morning, November 2nd.
Further know that with the end of the dog registration amnesty period, Public Safety Officers will now immediately issue a Notice of Lease Violation to offenders. It’s not something our officers like to do, but there remain too many dogs without lanyards coupled with reasons why a resident hasn’t registered their dog(s). It’s not fair to the officers who are simply trying to do their jobs.
So we’re giving those residents who have yet to register their dogs until Thursday, November 1st, end of day, to register. You can do so by clicking here or by going to resident services (276 1st Avenue Loop or PCV Kiosk at 22nd and 1st) with the proper documentation.
Again, we dislike a hard-handed approach; but it is imperative Public Safety Officers are supported in their enforcement of the Good Neighbor Guidelines (House Rules).
Should you have any questions or comments, please direct them to me.

The nightmare now on 20th Street (including special expanded lanes for bikes in front of buses!) will really kick in next year with the shutdown of the L line.

I will be there with my camera. Not on November 2nd, when I expect PS to be out "full-force," but later than that. ;-)
I saw this on an earlier page, but I thought it worth reposting because it just about sums up what could happen here now that we have no real "management" - just a resort director.
" If spineless Rick doesn't start doing his job and enforcing the rules here, his sloth and indifference could possibly lead to tenants taking things into their own hands, and we know that won't end well for anybody. I overheard a tenant saying that if ever one of those blankety blank cyclists or skate boarders or scooter nerds ran into him or one of his kids, he would pull the the blank blank motherblank off the thing and break every bone in his blank blanking body.
I have absolutely no doubt that he COULD and very little doubt that he actually WOULD. "
There are more buildings now in Manhattan that limit residents to a # of people who reside in an apartment. Family or not. As I sat here and tried to work, I am forced to endure thump jump scream run scream jump for at least 2 hours. Selfish fuckers above us are 4 perhaps 5 in a one bedroom flat.
The nightmare now on 20th Street (including special expanded lanes for bikes in front of buses!) will really kick in next year with the shutdown of the L line."
No STR, the nightmare will begin as soon as they complete the reconfiguration, because every single vehicle going down the street will instantly become an obstruction when it stops, as there will no longer be any buffer alongside the travel lanes. Yes, when there's no oncoming traffic, vehicles will be able to go around each other, but think about what will happen when anything stops for anything more than a moment, like a movers truck.
I understand they want to protect CitiBikers who are cycling to and from the ferry, but the street was safe enough to leave it alone. Now, they're turning it into something that will be really dangerous.
Rick true to his word? He wouldn't even know the meaning of such a concept! Look at what a shithole the place has become on his watch. Even worse than Compass Crock and Tishman Speyer. He doesn't know how to run a residential property.
I used to love living here, but now I caution anybody thinking of renting here to think twice. It is not the pleasant, clean, quiet and safe oasis that it used to be. Not by a long shot. Rick didn't create the blight, but he's done nothing to alleviate it. In fact, his kid gloves approach has made it a lot worse. I don't think he's very interested in running this property and should have stayed in his old job in Florida. Running a resort in Florida is so very different from running a huge resident property in New York City. I wonder how and why he got the job?
His bosses at Blackstone are obviously satisfied with the way he runs the property. I keep saying that any manager would act in a like manner here. It is the company that pulls the strings. His three year I believe tenure here is proof that they are pleased with him.
"Need a quiet place to work/study?? Join Oval Study for the whopping price of $35/month. "
How about letting us live in peace and quiet in the apartments that we are paying to live in? Many people are paying through the nose to live in almost uninhabitable apartments due to all the noise - inside and outside. The people paying lower rents are equally entitled to peace and quiet in their apartments. These f***ing pikers always try to capitalize on our misery rather than work to alleviate. Special place in Hell for them.
>>Immediate issuance of Notice of Lease Violation starts tomorrow, Friday. And you know that Rick is true to his word. So Friday, it is!<<
It didn't take long, did it? So, I was sitting at the Oval around 11:15am and saw two dogs without a lanyard. PS officer in that small booth didn't say a thing. Then about 5 minutes later I saw a young person waiting to piggyback into my building. Of course, in another minute or so, he was let in by the person opening the door.
I guess for an "Immediate issuance of Notice of Lease Violation," the PS officer has to see the non-lanyard. But if he sees nothing and just ignores it all? As Schultz said, "I know nothing!"
The "new" policy works excellently. Good going, Chief!
The PS officers are lazy and useless. They used to be on the ball, but since this woman has been in charge they are just a bunch of useless fat slobs. And Rick Hayduk is so full of shit. I don't know how he can look in the mirror because he is the biggest liar on two legs (apart from POTUS). NEVER believe word he says when it comes to enforcing rules and the reasons why they do not enforce the rules. He is a con artist.
Rick's "hard-line" is, predictably, BS. Just returned from Associated. Seen while walking to the supermarket (which has a special sale, btw) another dog with no blue lanyard, and on the way back THREE dogs with no official lanyard. And there was a security guy standing right there!
So this "immediate" hard-line stuff is BS, and everything is BS.
It's all meant for show. Oh, I am sure that Rick will provide evidence, but that evidence is very small compared with what is really happening.
Rick thinks we are all fools. Maybe where he comes from people are easily fooled and are very gullible. They are pushovers for con artists like he. If you want to find a fool in New York, it has to be somebody from one of the flyover states. Maybe if we all stop paying our rent, Slick Rick will start getting nudged by his evil superiors to start cracking down. A rent strike to protest the noise, filth and health-threatening conditions around here would be quite justifiable.
On the other hand, maybe if they started fining people for violations of their lease/paid PS a decent wage/rewarded PS for every violation written-up, it would make a difference. They need to get rid of that dumb-assed girl and put a tough guy in charge of PS. She has made them into a bunch of wussy pussies still on mothers milk.
I don't think it matters who is the boss of PS at that office. There were many complaints about the previous boss (a male), and I had various similar issues with him as I do now.
"I wish you had taken a photograph of that "lady" and her dog and the pile of shit it left behind. You could have then sent the photograph to Rick and PS"
-----
They would have to be willfully blind not seeing the large and increasing number of aggressive breed and/or over sized dogs paraded around PCVST 24/7/365 in plain sight with impunity ... and brain dead hoping residents and their guests will comply with notoriously unenforced pet regulations.
It is troublesome, and something that Rick and Company know is happening--but it seems they do not care. Leaving uncovered mattresses on the loop is clearly against the law. So, too, are vehicles (club cars with no license plate) crossing 20th Street, which they do all the time. If there are violations all the time here, with the approval of Management, then the "hard-line" regarding rules is a farce.
Wish they’d have a closing Anniversary and we could get a decent store in there. The other day I nearly killed myself going up the aisles. Full of obstacles.
Ricky superiors don’t want a crackdown. They want to run this place into the ground. A rent strike would never work here. You don’t have numbers and many are students/transients who don’t Care
>>Wish they’d have a closing Anniversary and we could get a decent store in there. The other day I nearly killed myself going up the aisles. Full of obstacles.<<
Just got that e-mail about the self defense classes management is offering. They get the stupidest ideas. Better they should put out PS officers at night. One gimmick after another to appease the masses.
I wonder why we never needed self-defense classes when MetLife ran the property when we were literally surrounded by drug scum? I'll tell ya - we had a REAL Security forcet then and a REAL Proprerty Manager then.
I hate these dog owners and their misguided self entitlement attitudes. When MetLife was running this place none of this BS would be taking place. It didn't stink of nasty fertilizer around here and yet the grass and grounds were always green. They didn't harass the squirrels and understood they were an important part of the ecosystem here. They also understood urban planning and didn't plant giant bushes everywhere obscuring views so people can get mugged and raped. They didn't play with stupid resident behavior- it was GTFO. And yet they had every single apartment rented with annual guaranteed rental income. Current owners and management are idiots.
I LOVE ASSOCIATED. People don't realize what they have until it's gone. All these new residents do is whine whine whine. Go back to the suburbs and your round up weed killer if you don't like the real supermarkets and squirrels here.
I'm quite new but crazy in love with associated market. Prices are great, manager is sweet and helpful, it's five minute walk and i could not be happier.
PigStuyTown has simply become "the projects". What is it people fail to understand? You can't make a silk purse out of a pig's ear with stupid, childish. irrelevant and annoying "amenities". And to think people fall for this and pay upwards of four grand per month to live here? AMAZING! Think of the STUPIDITY of paying $35 ( used to be $30 )per month for use of the Oval Study for peace and quiet. I thought your apartment was the place where you found peace and quiet...hahaha UNREAL!
Saturday morning at 8am. Waked my dog through the oval, past two Public Safety officers, with no lanyard attached to my leash. Not a word was said. I did have the lanyard in my pocket in case I was asked.
Rick will continue to try and tell us that stops are being made. It’s all BS, as I saw at least 4 other non-lanyard dogs walk right past these guards and nothing was said.
Enforcement of rules is 100% all talk in this place.
I forgot to mention the smell. I though the Ginkgo trees were blossoming. I'm sure Management is happy, knowing that "natural" fertilizer is being used. Yeah. Shit.
Since it is a bit chilly and windy, I was sitting on one of the benches not for long. Of course, it didn't take long for me to see multiple dogs without the blue-lanyard (you know, the one that all residents must have, otherwise there is an "immediate" issuance of a terms of lease violation.). I also saw two dogs in the fountain area, a no-no, and one of the dogs had no blue-lanyard, for sure. And I saw no PS officer in or out of that Oval booth.
You didn't actually believe Hayduk when he said the rules would be enforced, did you? He relates to the truth in the same way that a certain orange-faced leader does. "Well, I try to tell the truth. I tell the truth whenever I can." Hayduk is a loser and a failure. Blackstone should fire his ass and send him back to wherever they found him. We need a real, qualified manager to run this place. One who knows what he (or she) is doing and has some respect for the intelligence of tenants. We don't need a lying creep who talks out of both sides of his mouth. Hayduk is a cold-hearted con artist. He doesn't come even close to being a capable property manager.
What is going on here?! There have been security guards at both entrances to my building since before daylight and all they are saying is "it's an ongoing investigation" . My neighbor said that we were getting an email, but as of now, nothing, nada, zero!
I think Rick does his best. It's a big property and has so many more people living here now, as opposed to the days when it was run by Bill Potter. Bill Potter was an EXCELLENT manager and a very nice man. However, he didn't have to deal with a demo that comprises mostly students and short term rentals and VERY IMPORTANTLY, he didn't have to deal with dogs! Nobody was allowed to bring a dog on the property, let alone own one. Bill Potter had a dedicated and talented crew of gardeners, maintenance men and electricians and plumbers and handymen. All were unionized and all were bonded. When MetLife sold the place, most of those guys got kicked out and unskilled non-union labor was brought in to replace them. I think a lot of the replacements were not even legal immigrants (and I'm not putting down immigrants).
Tishman Speyer totally ruined the place by allowing dogs and cutting the staff to the bone. The buildings became dirtier, the laundry rooms became horrors because TS ripped out the almost new machines that MetLife had just put in and replaced them with the Mac Gray shit and they replaced the heating system with those sensors that make as much sense as Rob Speyer not being drowned at birth. I believe it was Rob Speyer who disbanded and diluted and neutered our Security Force and turned it into a college Public Safety unit with orders to do nothing.
Also, we didn't have those stupid events that probably take a lot of time that could be better spent on important things. . We probably need two property managers to run the joint efficiently - and I'm not talking about those nasty so-called managers like a certain young lady who has been mentioned on this board a few times. I'm talking about two property managers of Rick's experience or, maybe better, because I don't think he's ever run a residential complex before and there are a lot of major differences between a huge residential complex and a resort. We don't want to be entertained; we want to live in peace, quiet and safety. That's not too much to ask for. We are talking about our homes, not hotel rooms.
I agree that the place headed downhill once Robbie got his hands on it. Didn't hurt him a bit later, as he is Mr. New York now, though not an elected politician. As to Rick, well, he accepted the position of General Manager. It is probable that he didn't fully know what he was getting into. I'll give him that. That said, while some things have improved, some things have either stagnated or gotten worse. Everyone who has been here longer than 3 or 4 years has to agree, unless they are delusional.
"What is going on here?! There have been security guards at both entrances to my building since before daylight and all they are saying is "it's an ongoing investigation" . My neighbor said that we were getting an email, but as of now, nothing, nada, zero!"
Ya know teens need space our dear neighbors high school kids - 3 - are constantly in the hallways hanging out singing yelling playing socializing and honestly they are subjected to living in a small apartment but friends come over and they seem to be forced they take it all into our shared hallways. Boys and girls. I feel for them but they are extremely boisterous and loud and the parents are never home to monitor. Recently a fight broke out amongst them it has only increased the hallway hanging out.
I also live in an Oval building and we don’t have any Security guards for “extra protection for the holidays”. More BS from Management and Public Safety. The lies that get told here are unbelievable. It’s an insult to our intelligence.
Just when I thought that Management would not create new stupid and insensitive things, there is a guitar and singer, at the Oval fountain area, and facing the Veterans Day flags, who is singing Beatles songs! With a loudspeaker, no less. The "performance" must have started at 10am. Unbelievable!!!

Rick is the consummate cheesy cruise director with absolutely a tin ear when it comes to what people really want and need. I bet he's kind of cruise director who would throw a non-swimmer into the pool (deep end) with instructions to "Enjoy Yourself!" and he would walk away thinking he'd done them a favor by forcing them to "enjoy" the amenities.
PCVST is such a far throw from a resort, it makes me wonder why they hired Heyduk. Maybe he was fired from the resorts world and casting around for a place to go practice his "skills" and Blackstone liked the idea of a resorts manager bringing his "talents" to a residential complex. He's made this a worse dump than anyone could have imagined. I guess that was the idea. One thing is abundantly clear, he is absolutely clueless when it comes to managing a residential property. He sees everyone as a hotel guest who will be gone in a week or two and forget about what a crappy dump they stayed in.
Peace and quiet should be guaranteed to those who wish to commemorate those vets who have fallen. But the flags are between a Farmers Market and loud Beatles songs. Thank you, Blackstone.
And I'm not talking about the residents who have planted themselves on those beach chairs right next to the flags. Laugh all you want, buddy! Enjoy the view.
Where is Susan Steinberg and the Tenants Association as Rome burns?? What a pair! Susan "Just Call Rick" and "Love Boat Cruise Director Rick". We are soooooo lucky to have them! I don't think so.
I wonder how many of the suits are veterans or have/had family who were veterans? Money is the only thing they care about and they would sell their children to the highest bidder. Amoral assholes.
Why was there a retarded busker in the Oval at 10am on a SUNDAY today? WTF???!!!??! The Oval is turning into Times Square. How embarrassing. Nobody here needs or wants this crap. This is not entertainment. Who wants this and thinks it's entertainment????? What a joke. I just want a quiet place to live. All we want is peace and quiet. And make it safe to live here like it used to be. Jeezus.
I really do not understand all the hate for Associated. We petitioned hard for them, an affordable real supermarket, to stay in that space. People get a life. First world problems. Just wait until all our lives and livelihoods are ruined by that that ignorant lying fat cheetos in office and you're waiting on lines for a crust of bread and wormy grain with your food ration ticket.
I just posted this at the STPC Tenants (not TA) FB page at the Oval Veteran’s Day event thread:
Sorry to be a pill re this event but; From the STR blog, the blogger himself:
“Just when I thought that Management would not create new stupid and insensitive things, there is a guitar and singer, at the Oval fountain area, and facing the Veterans Day flags, who is singing Beatles songs! With a loudspeaker, no less. The "performance" must have started at 10am. Unbelievable!!!”
Spot on! At last year’s Veteran’s Day’s Oval memorial I gave a lot of positive P/R to SPS for this event at the TA FB page including pictures even though I had asked Rick to turn off the canned music. I told him that at Calverton National cemetery, where my father and uncle are interned, the only recorded music you hear is taps. Rick complied; they did play a recording of taps during a moment of silence which was appropriate.
My wife’s family’s also has a very proud past military service including her uncle, Battle of the Bulge and another uncle in Korea, Purple Heart. BTW, the STR blogger is a vet. Currently I have two active family members (both have combat Afghanistan experience) in the US Army, both Captains. I came late to the current 11/4/2018 Oval event. The band (2 person) was loud and the “music” carried everywhere throughout the Oval. They were playing a David Bowie song (WTF?) when I was there.
Must EVERY PCVST event now have live or canned music that blasts intrusively throughout the property? Is nothing sacred, even at a veteran’s memorial event? BTW I plan on sending Rick and Kelly Vohs, SPS COO, former US Army (Green Beret) Ranger, a copy and paste of this FB post via email.
There has been some push back on my FB post since the “official” SPS Oval event will be on Sunday, 11/11/18, Veteran’s Day and this event was advertised as a "family" event. My response: “Sorry, then don’t cheapen the vets with this music crap. Why even have the memorial flags?
Just when you think they can't go any lower ... they scrape rock-bottom. This wasn't a salute to Veterans. It was Rick Heyduk at his cheap, gimmicky worst. i hope they fire him soon because he is worst.
Anyone know anything about the guards stationed at 19 Oval yet? Supposedly one tenant was told there was an incident in the building on Friday, but wouldn’t go any further.
>>With our sale the affordability of the project was protected, the constituents consulted, the politicians appeased, the tenants satisfied, and the properties’ reputation restored. The development was turned completely around in 2015. I was gratified that the sale could serve as a model to transact for the greater good, for the benefit of all stakeholders, for the long term, with a sustainable capital structure fueled almost as much by equity as by debt. What was most amazing was that the sale not only set a world record for the highest price ever achieved on a commercial real estate asset but also came with numerous newly crafted restrictive covenants and rent protections ensuring long-term affordability at the property and protecting tenants and other stakeholders for the foreseeable future. It was very gratifying that we could accomplish a deal that left everyone satisfied: Blackstone (the buyer), the community, the tenants, the governor, the mayor, the councilmen/women, the tenants committee, the various sellers, the real estate market, the residential business, the city, etc. It restored confidence that even one of the most tarnished properties could be restored and reinvigorated with a new sale that could be structured in a way that resulted in a win-win for all involved.<<
Edmund Dunn - Many of us who live here agree with you.
The suits who run this place need to stop with the “events” and focus on bringing some ORDER and CIVILITY to this property. The number of selfish, disrespectful young people and students who live here now is overwhelming. It seems like several times a week, I have a run in with one of them about some unneighborly behavior they’re engaging in. Too many times, these entitled brats could care less. I never felt unhappy about living here when MetLife was in charge because our quality of life was very good, but I do now and see no hope in sight for a turnaround as long as Blackstone is our owner. I’m fully aware that as an older, long-time tenant paying a much lower than market rate rent, Blackstone would like to see me and people like me leave, but I’m not going anywhere, at least not of my own choice. Don’t know how the people who work here and inflict such continuing misery on us can look at themselves in the mirror and not feel profound shame for what they’re doing to those of us who just want to live here in peace and safety. If you’re a decent human being, no amount of money can ever make up for knowingly — which they must because we tell them all the time that they are — causing harm to others.
“It restored confidence that even one of the most tarnished properties could be restored and reinvigorated with a new sale that could be structured in a way that resulted in a win-win for all involved.”
What a joke on the tenants the sale to Blackstone turned out to be.
This place is STILL TARNISHED under their ownership. Just look at the complaints on this page and the tenants association FB page and the other tenants FB page and you will see that Blackstone is clearly in over their head here. They don’t have a clue how to run this place and continue to pack it with transits who don’t give a damn about their neighbors, which negatively impacts our quality of life on a daily basis.
Garbage strewn all around 14th Street and Ave A corner. And this has nothing to do with the construction. It is stuff dumped by PigStuy tenants. Real classy.
" It restored confidence that even one of the most tarnished properties could be restored and reinvigorated with a new sale that could be structured in a way that resulted in a win-win for all involved."
How exactly was PCVST ever "the most tarnished properties"
Other then the reputation now being transient housing for "projects / dorm". Our reputation in PCVST is more tarnished now then ever. We were a quiet working and middle class respite from vibrant, energetic, sometimes hectic, chaotic New York City. What was tarnished about that?
We can all thank Garodnick, the TA and the other local pols for this despicable sale. I will never forget how they were fawning over the Blackstone rep at the first meeting and touting the sale vigorously. And how the rep told us they would listen to our complaints, particularly decreasing the student rentals. Ha. What a crock.
Not everyone petitioned hard for this dirty, under stocked sham of a supermarket. November 5, 2018 at 3:42 AM "
This is exactly the kind of misguided hate towards Associated I'm talking about. When "WE" was mentioned, it obviously meant the people who did petition. Thank you for giving us a perfect example of first world problems. BTW, if you eat out and/or order in, I'd love to show you what restaurant kitchens and storage areas look like. If you think Associated looks dirty, you are mistaken.
As I wrote a few months back, I sent a very nice letter to Blackstone's head. Never got a response back, even from his assistants. I also sent various emails to our local politician, Powers. Aside from "we will check on it," there was no proactive response. These "replies," and others, lead me to believe that nothing is really being done. Avoidance is the name of the game. I don't think I am alone.
Rick and his minions are soulless, godless people. They are frenetically hellbent on filling every quiet and peaceful corner of this once-beautiful and peaceful oasis with as much noise and activity as possible. Not bringing religion into it, but when people can find a quiet, naturally beautiful spot, such as sitting on a bench in a lovely park, it can be as close to God as we are likely to get in this noisy, overwhelming city. Now, thanks to Rick and his ilk, we don't have that anymore and we can't even have peace and serenity in our apartments because of the noise being pumped in from those hideous "events," the nonstop noise of the subway construction and the noise of our door-slamming, nasty, entitled student neighbors who stomp around their uncarpeted apartments like a militia invasion.
Thank you, Rick, you cruel and godless man. I hope you one day realize how much pain and suffering you have and continue to inflict on people who just want to live good, quiet lives without being subjected to the noise of your idea of "entertainment." You must be a man of no conscience whatsoever.
They have a clue on how to run this place. They are just greedy and want those high market rates in an old project. They will not get those rent rates unless they pack in students, tourists and city subsidized. They have found a way to get the high rents and will just continue to run down the property
I went to the event in the Oval yesterday. The flags on the lawn were so touching. It was all beautiful and moving until that fucking music started up. Ever felt like smashing guitar over somebody's head? I know I did yesterday. Just when you think Rick and his crew can't possibly get any more tacky, they go and prove you wrong. Bigly!
Let me say something about the Veterans Day commemoration, since I was a vet. To me, commemorating those who have passed and those who have served is honorable and moving. I am not able to actively participate because it is too moving, emotionally, for various reasons. That said, what I saw the other day was just stupid and, for me, insulting. You don't need to have pop music playing and performed. What I saw also was that those white chairs were out on the Oval lawn, next to the flags. I'm not here to get personal, but there was one resident who was really "enjoying the lawn." That, for me, is not what Veterans Day or its commemoration is about. This place, Stuy Town, is just too small for doing something like this a week in advance, unless one seals the Oval only to people to pay their respects. The Oval is not, at that time, a "great resource." I know we have a former Green Beret in Management, but he works now for Blackstone. So I salute all the vets, but I can't say I salute Management.
Enough with the fu*kin' "events" and "amenities". How about a little peace and quiet? This isn't a Florida resort community or the Love Boat. GROW UP, Rick, and show some RESPECT for the residents. All we want is a little peace and quiet in our homes.
Anonymous Anonymous said... You sound like an employee of Associated 12:42. Maybe you are. Sorry that there are many here who would love to have a decent supermarket. November 5, 2018 at 1:59 PM HELLO, I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF ASSOCIATED NOR DO I HAVE ANY BUSINESS INTERESTS THERE. I just shop there and am happy Associated is there and is affordable. They always have great sales. I am tired of people whining about wanting a "decent supermarket" and gleefully insulting them needlessly with their snotty elitist assumptions. You just sound like lonely, bitter, miserable people. Just exactly what does "a decent supermarket" even mean? You mean a Wegman's or a Publix? Move. There are tons of options in this neighborhood for food shopping: Whole Foods, Westside Market, Target, Trader Joes, Gracefully, etc...but they are not real supermarkets. And let's not forget about Ctown...but, oh no, it's by the projects so I'm going to assume you're never going to set foot in there either.
And thank you for your thoughts and words. I do feel guilty as I have never been in a combat zone, and did not have friends who paid the ultimate sacrifice or were maimed, either physically and/or emotionally. Those are the real heroes, and those we should commemorate.
MetLife and Tishman Speyer are in business together. MetLife and Tishman Speyer are exactly the same. MetLife knew what they were doing when they had their broker CBRE write a selling booklet for Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village that promised demolition, development, combination units, market rate numbers fast, endless profit-making possibilities. A billionaire in Newport Beach California owns the MetLife headquarter building at 200 Park Avenue that Tishman Speyer manages and claims to own since 2005. MetLife and Tishman Speyer are all smoke and mirrors.
Real owner of MetLife Building is a Calif. billionaire The owner of the MetLife Building, one of Manhattan's most well-known skyscrapers, isn't who most people think.
California billionaire Donald Bren's Irvine Co. has built a 97.3% ownership stake in the 58-story tower in the past decade, said Dan Young, an executive vice president at the closely held company. While Tishman Speyer is still the managing partner of the property, which it acquired in 2005 for $1.79 billion and features on its website, the company's stake in the MetLife Building has been whittled to less than 3%.
Bud Perrone, a spokesman for New York-based Tishman Speyer, declined to comment.
The actual ownership of the MetLife Building, a 58-story skyscraper perched over Grand Central Terminal, has managed to remain a secret in one of the world's priciest and most highly scrutinized real estate markets.
Who are the real owners of Stuyvesant Town that Blackstone and Ivanhoe Cambridge front for? The shell companies Tishman Speyer set up as the owner investors? That is who is responsible for our quality of life with Blackstone too.
11:43, don’t assume thing about people just because they do not like a certain food store.Have you ever been in a Fairway or a Stop and Shop? Not elite by any means. And I have heard that CTown is not a bad option. Just a little far. Not a political issue, just an opinion.
Blackstone's Well Known Reputation If you can overlook any politics in the article, it captures Tony James Blackstone Slumlord, Shadow Banking getting rich-off-of-bankrupting-retirees way of doing business. Any politics and political relationships in the article were exposed to all the tenants when Garodnick and Hayduk hosted the former President in StuyTown anyway. The fact that the politicians put this company as landlord over middle class tenants after what they did across the country shocks the senses.
"Blackstone has a less-than-stellar record of shady business dealings and red flags.
1) They’re in the slumlord business After the housing crash left millions of U.S. homeowners underwater, Blackstone swooped in and lined its pockets from the misery of ordinary Americans. As homeownership rates have dipped, Blackstone, through its subsidiary Invitation Homes, has become the largest owner of single-family rental homes in the country, buying up tens of thousands of vacant, foreclosed homes.
As a 2014 In These Times investigation revealed, once these houses were occupied by tenants, Blackstone operated more as slumlord than landlord. Across the country, the company left homes in disrepair, shifting the responsibility of maintenance to tenants and ignoring constant requests to fix electrical and plumbing problems. One tenant had no less than six property managers over the course of a single year. In Atlanta, many tenants have no one to whom they can relay complaints directly, instead forced to navigate a straight-to-voicemail system.
Blackstone has violated tenants’ rights in other ways too. It has hit tenants with sudden, unreasonably quick evictions, in one case sending a resident a five-day eviction notice after the company’s own online payment system failed to deduct the tenant’s rent for the month. In other cases, it sent eviction notices before the rent was even due.
Such rapid eviction may be motivated by the desire to sell homes that have accrued in value.
The company also charges tenants as much as 180 percent of a city’s market rent and is not above raising the rent anywhere around 10 percent or more in lease renewals."
Since it is Election Day, did you vote, who did you vote for?
Was it like last time?
Do you complain about your building smelling like marijuana?
Do you complain about the puddles and piles from the dorm rooms in the stairways, hallways, lobbies, and elevators?
Did you vote last time for the people who decriminalized marijuana and public urination? (I know some of it is from dogs, but dogs don't urinate directly in stairwell corners, not all of it is from dogs).
What did you expect, if the people you voted for tell people that the government says it is OK, who are you to complain?
Greetings from Los angeles! I'm bored to death at work so I decided to browse your website on my iphone during lunch break. I enjoy the information you present here and can't wait to take a look when I get home. I'm shocked at how quick your blog loaded on my phone ..
I'm not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyways, wonderful blog!
I shop at Associated a lot because it's handy. It's not the greatest grocery store in the world, but I get sick of listening to people bitching and whining about it. If you don't like a store, just don't go there, but don't keep on about it ad infinitum. I detest certain stores and don't shop in them, but I am sure that nobody wants to hear why. We DON'T CARE if and why you like or dislike the store!
You can’t make this stuff up... A woman on Stuy Moms asked some questions about having her kids birthday party on the oval. Here’s the best part, she asked if she could bring a food truck up on the sidewalk next to the oval.
That is what this property has come to. This woman is not totally wrong to ask the question, since she probably sees all the ridiculous happenings taking place on a daily basis and figured maybe residents can do something like this for private events.
7:41 AM: Could be either a dog or a bro. Not much difference except that a dog is at the mercy of its owner. This place has become a disgusting slum. People talk about NYCHA because it has (or used to have) a bad reputation for people pissing and shitting in the stairwells and in the elevators and other public areas. We are at that level now. Lots of drug activity going on here and some unsavory illegal operations being worked out of some apartments. Does Rick care? Of course not. He closes his eyes and tells himself he's running a classy resort. The TA lost interst years ago when Garodnick came on the scene.
This could go back to being a great place to live if Rick would either a) do his job or b) go away and let someone else more interested and capable do it. Forget the TA. The TA is never coming back.
1. A huge THANK YOU for your service to you STR and all veterans. I support you and all vets by try to consistently donate to veterans organizations. This year I will contribute to whichever veterans group STR requests as my way of showing my gratitude for him and ALL he does for us!!
2. I have no issues with Associated. It is definitely not like a Stop and Shop in the burbs but it is a good market given the conditions it has to operate under (including a ridiculously high rent). However, it is the people there that make me return. You see I have raised a child with Autism here in PCVST and one of the ways we taught him independence was to slowly introduce shopping as a daily living skill. My wife consistently and patiently worked with him on this skill at Associated (among other retail stores)and this was noticed by the management and staff at the store and they became willing participants (without us ever asking) in his education by basically pseudo-adopting him. Once we felt he was capable of going there alone we were very confident he could shop on his own given that we knew the staff at Associated would look out for him. I will always be loyal to them for their kindness to my son!
How about we start the REVOLUTION here and soon, soon, soon?
We are being screwed, hurt, harmed, damaged daily.
. . . 'Stupid bit*h mother wants a party for her little darling? DID ANYONE EVER HEAR ABOUT A PARTY IN YOUR OWN GODDAMN HOUSE???
(How's about a reduction in the human population, period? Millions and millions of starving and homeless across the globe already. Not enough hell on earth???)
This morning they are TORTURING TREES OUTSIDE MY WINDOW FOR MANY HOURS. The bark is off the entire tree trunk of at least 4 or 5 of the trees and they're up there winding wires with electrical lights around them.
At Playground 12, WHERE THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED.
EXACTLY HOW MUCH SHIT AND DEGRADATION AND SUFFERING ARE WE GOING TO SIT STILL FOR BEFORE WE STOP THEM?
I was about to post on this very topic. I got in from outside and saw a few dogs in ST without that blue lanyard. No "immediate" stoppage by PS and an issuance of a summons. BS from Management.
Indeed NYCHA otherwise known as "the projects" have or had a reputation for garbage strewn about, urination and defecation in the stairwells and halls, pot smoking galore, unsavory activities, i.e., "working girls". All of this is now found in PigStuy Town. No wonder when I tell people in live in Stuyvesant Town people say, "Oh, you mean, the projects".
1. A huge THANK YOU for your service to you STR and all veterans. I support you and all vets by try to consistently donate to veterans organizations. This year I will contribute to whichever veterans group STR requests as my way of showing my gratitude for him and ALL he does for us!!

One, thank you. It means a lot.
Two. Aside from seeing dogs without that blue lanyard, I saw a special mini-bus depositing two young people with disabilities. My heart goes out to them. We should always remember that, no matter how bad things get, others can be in a difficult situation that can make our situation seem trivial. To walk, even with a limp or the help of a stroller, can seem not so difficult to someone who can't walk, period. As to your personal situation, thank you, too.
>>EXACTLY HOW MUCH SHIT AND DEGRADATION AND SUFFERING ARE WE GOING TO SIT STILL FOR BEFORE WE STOP THEM?
BEFORE WE STAND UP AND FIGHT???<<
I think the answer is that most people will not stand up and fight. I am doing my part, but it is small considering what I could do but can't for a variety of reasons.
Nobody wants to know why? Well we do. Tell us since we would all love to shop at a convenient and affordable store on our property. ding ding ding. No brainer.
The numbers are just not here for any kind of “fight”. Nor is there organization. More tenants than not would be hurt by involvement in any kind of protest here .
You can’t have a revolution or fight this company with five or ten residents.Let’s be real. And that number may even be high. You need numbers and an organized good TA.
The condo conversion failed. The Tenant bids failed. The TA picked all wrong partners for the tenant condo conversion (Brookfield, ex-DLJ developer-banker Moelis, Berlin Rosen). The moment they hired Moelis the TA abandoned tenants all together. The tenant condo conversion ownership failure should have ended with the TA going away in shame to make way for a new one with better sensibilities that actually represents the needs of the tenants first and solely.
All this "Stand up and fight" stuff is nonsense unless we know who is calling for it. What the hell do you expect us to do when we don't even know who you are? You could be Rick, trying to weed out dissidents. Have the guts to identify yourself and you might find you will have a lot of supporters. Unless you're prepared to do that, you are just the same hot air windbag that Rick is.
Can mismanagement get a real company/arborist with workers who know what they're doing??? These people are just chopping limbs off trees. They've cut off so many branches right from the trunk off the tree outside my window that I don't even have any shade/coverage anymore. I've lived here for 20 yrs. Before this, the old company knew what they were doing. They also never replanted any of the trees they chopped down. I personally saw 6 of them wilt and die sitting around with their bases wrapped in burlap. WTF.
Where is all this money coming from for all these stupid signs and installation of doggie bags and endless signs on the property? Non dog owners better not be subsidizing this bullshit. Why are they babying these dumb irresponsible dog owners who are breaking the law in more ways than one? Why are they so special? They grown ass adults. This whole situation is baffling and a big waste of money that could go towards other things, like security and fixing the security cameras so they work. They admitted they don't work so they need to reverse that MCI and refund us all ASAP. TA???? Do something.
Non dog owners better not be subsidizing this bullshit.
Get real. Of course non-dog owners are subsidizing the coddling of dog owners with signs and doggie bag holders.
As for inconsiderate dog owners being adults, they’re only adults in age, not in their behavior or their sense of responsibility to the people they share this place with.
BLACKSTONE AND RICK HAYDUK ARE COMPLICIT IN THE DOG SH-T AND NO-IDENTIFYING-LANYARDS PROBLEMS HERE BECAUSE THEY DO LITTLE TO NOTHING TO REALISTICALLY FIX THOSE PROBLEMS.
And why don’t they do anything? The answer is simple: because doing something costs money, which they would rather spend on their frequently disturbing-to-the-people-who-live-around-the-Oval marketing events and paying themselves big salaries.
Follow the money because it’s always about the money and the desire to continually make more of it.
>>All this "Stand up and fight" stuff is nonsense unless we know who is calling for it.<<
I have been contacted a couple of months ago by "Stand up and fight" and can assure people that the person does exist and is not Management or Rick. And no one should be afraid or wary of anyone in Management or Rick, besides.
In the department of "Unbelievable but Believable" comes another posting on "our" TA Facebook that tries to "warn" about going to Union Square this evening, but is in reality a not-sly attempt to link to the actual event.
Hey, John, why don't you fight against what is happening INSIDE Stuy Town instead?
And, sorry, but from my perspective the TA has just become an arm of our local politicians, who are an arm of the REBNY and Blackstone. Yeah, there is that bus ride to Albany and a disapproval of any MCI, but aside from that, and a few of the "bitchers" on that TA Facebook page, it is a sham.
Although we need not be wary of Rick and management in voicing our opinions, we do need to be wary of more extreme measures such as rent strikes. When you a few without a strong TA backing Blackstone lawyers will eat you up alive in a minute. The numbers and organization are not here for extreme measures to “fight”
I saw a bicycle at the Oval stopped by a walking PS guard. "Have a safe day!" I heard the PS officer say. Then the rider kept on peddling around the Oval.
I saw the filthiest smelliest person in my building elevator today. I think he was coming from the laundry. Ugh. This is the type of resident we are getting here now.
Some residents should stop it will the BS. I'm speaking of the bike lanes that are around us. Sure, I'm all for bike riding in the city, but, truthfully, the bike lanes are not enforced at the lights except for major cross-streets. Just sit with me at, say, Gracefully and look out the window and see how many bikes whizz past the red lights at the smaller streets. Rarely, do I see a bike stop at these lights the way they are supposed to. Rarely. This is a fact. Most bicyclists to NOT stop at these smaller cross-streets with a red light facing them.
"Stand Up and Fight" is neither a coward, as you imply, nor a stooge of mismanagement's Richard Hayduk. I understand why you feel that way, as I understand why people believe that "5 or 10" of us would either make no appreciable difference, or could be hurt.
Back in June, when I began writing here, I invited people to communicate with me at: quietenjoymentnow@gmail.com. That address is there for people to be able to start SAFELY finding one another in order that we may combat ALL of the infractions, insults, threats and harm we face daily. I posted that address repeatedly, with the plea that we join together against the degradation and depredations practiced daily against us.
Other than 2 neighbors, there was no response.
I ask again: e-mail me at: quietenjoymentnow@gmail.com so that we can face one another to help one another.
Walking home tonight around 10pm I saw many sprinklers going full blast on the grounds in various areas. Why??????????????????? It is 44 degrees and temps dropping more as the night progresses. They're just trying to kill all the trees and grass here at this point. Proof the fools running this place have no idea what they doing. They waste all this money planting crap and then killing it. Over and over again. Makes me so angry. Why is it always people who not qualified for positions holding the jobs?
Dogs are always in the fenced off no trespassing grassy areas on property. And off leash running around, to say the least. Where is security? Where is the enforcement? I know people call security and nobody shows up to enforce the rules. What a joke this place is. BIG joke.
ZERO enforcement of lanyard requirement for dogs! Nice going, Rick! I asked Susan Steinberg about this. She gave her standard answer, "Just email Rick!" I then asked her if the sun will come up tomorrow. Naturally she replied, "Just email Rick!" Hahahahaha....so funny...maybe not...so sad.
Totally agree.particularly egregious are those I call “ bike commandos” , typically youngish males who ride their bikes at high speeds outside the bike lanes and of course ignore red lights . I have almost been hit many times and I check for bikes all the time
I don't think John Marsh is with the TA anymore, except as a regular member. I guess he can post anything that Peter Stuyvesant approves. Nothing wrong with warning people about traffic (and bringing awareness of a rally or march).

Yes, John Marsh is no longer “officially” a part of the TA, however he created this phony Peter Stuyvesant account, and is still listed as an admin on the Facebook page. Therefore he is not like any other person posting on the TA Facebook page.
He is posting this irrelevant crap under his own name and then going in and approving his own posts. All the TA does these days is supply a Facebook page, and they can’t even do that legitimately.
I think there is ASBESTOS removal happening at 277 AVENUE C. There was a PAL Environmental Truck parked outside there. http://www.palcorp.com/pages/services.html There is a lot of dust. There is a water hose attached to outside building. There is a giant dumpster. There is a lot of noise coming from T level storage boiler room area. No notices. No warnings. Can we sue?
I will take a look. But whatever I do, the fact remains that a tenant has to have evidence, the more, the better. Suing a company can and does happen (and a win, too) but you have to have a lot of evidence that is verifiable.
That is just a cop out excuse. They lie through their teeth. And I don’t care what they say, the city is subsidizing apartments here. I had a turnover five times next door, some telling me they couldn’t pay the increases. This elderly church group next door who are not employed and have had visits from public assistance in addition to having no name on the door have been here 3 years. They are not paying 3500 grand a month. Sad, because seniors who have been here a long time are struggling and nice families are being priced out.
I think Sty Town is one of De Blasio's "cluster housing" projects for the homeless. I see people here who are definitely not paying market rent (or any rent) and they are not long time tenants. I think it is quite obvious that this is a homeless project of the City.
Yes, cluster housing was the term I was looking for. At first these people were running a boarding house operation. After I reported it, that stopped. It is suspicious that they are there three years when the apartment used to turn over every year. And I know they are not paying 3500 a month.
There's definitely a fiddle going on here. Who is pocketing the profits from all these AirbnB rentings, short-term stay and "cluster housing" scams? We could do with a full-scale investigation into where the money is going. Somebody in City Hall and/or Management has very dirty hands.
I would imagine the city and Blackstone are profiting. Blackstone has had to turn to the city, NYU, and other operations to fill these apartments at market rate.
The TA keeps posting these thermometer promotions. Absurd. Obviously this isn’t working. It is only November and people are freezing . And we still have posters defending the TA.

Wait till Hane has to close. Not saying it will happen, but one never knows.
Was so sorry to hear this. I hope Hanes does not close too. The only thing we have positive around here is good family restaurants.
Stunned onlooker politely confronts woman and says, "Shouldn't you pick up after your dog, Miss?"
Woman, looking shocked and somewhat irritated says airily, "Oh, don't worry. The porters or maintenance men will take care of it." She and her mastodon then calmly strolled away.
UNBELIEVABLE!
I hear an awful band playing a song with lyrics saying get ready to jump in the oval right now. Little insensitive after tenant jumped to death?
Live in the North West oval. Was awakened this morning at 5am to construction noise from 14th street. Until I went out, constant beeping from construction of ice skating rink. Now, loud music, and I use the term loosely! All we want is lead and quiet!
Must EVERY Oval event, even todays Halloween event geared to children, have a loud PA system with crap music? Rube-hayseed junk.
Hane is worse week to week.
It's remarkable in favor of me to have a site, which is good in support of my experience.
thanks admin
Actually no matter if someone doesn't be aware of afterward its up to other viewers that they will
assist, so here it takes place.
Welcome indeed

Wasn't there a suicide by a 66 year old man in, I think, 16 Stuyvesant Oval, a week or two ago?
Yes.
Hane sushi sucks.
PigStuyTown = "the projects".
Here we go again:
Dear Residents,
As a polite reminder, all dog owners should have their dogs registered and the lanyard displayed from the leash handle effective Friday morning, November 2nd.
Rick Hayduk

The nightmare now on 20th Street (including special expanded lanes for bikes in front of buses!) will really kick in next year with the shutdown of the L line.

I will be there with my camera. Not on November 2nd, when I expect PS to be out "full-force," but later than that. ;-)
>>immediately issue a Notice of Lease Violation<<
And "immediately" means immediately. We shall see.
I saw this on an earlier page, but I thought it worth reposting because it just about sums up what could happen here now that we have no real "management" - just a resort director.
"
If spineless Rick doesn't start doing his job and enforcing the rules here, his sloth and indifference could possibly lead to tenants taking things into their own hands, and we know that won't end well for anybody.
I walked past a PS officer today with my blue lanyard in my pocket. Nothing was said. We shall see tomorrow.
Oh, and I will have my camera ready to document.
Lots of lanyardless dogs.
Public Safety oblivious.
Surprise, surprise...NOT
Glad the lanyard requirement is being so strictly enforced.
Oops, I just stepped in a pile of dog shit right by the Oval.
Nice job, Rick.

Immediate issuance of Notice of Lease Violation starts tomorrow, Friday. And you know that Rick is true to his word. So Friday, it is!
So 27 council members have voted in favor of SBJSA, yet I don’t see Powers on that list. Mr community man, Mr son of a small business owner.
His bosses at Blackstone are obviously satisfied with the way he runs the property. I keep saying that any manager would act in a like manner here. It is the company that pulls the strings. His three year I believe tenure here is proof that they are pleased with him.
Need a quiet place to work/study?? Join Oval Study for the whopping price of $35/month.
Hey Rick, how about you just give us a quiet place to live? It’s a novel idea!!!
Just a note that if things get too personal (and I'm not talking about the obvious insult), I can't let these remarks pass.
STR, what's the special sale at Associated? I was just in there and I didn't see anything special.
Charging for that oval study is absurd . They have to be joking
>>STR, what's the special sale at Associated? I was just in there and I didn't see anything special.<<
You saw all the mini-flags outside? Maybe it's too dark! Associated is having some anniversary. I think it's 25 years, but it could be less.
>>Charging for that oval study is absurd . They have to be joking<<
It used to be 30 dollars. So, it's gone up five?
It is troublesome, and something that Rick and Company know is happening--but it seems they do not care. Leaving uncovered mattresses on the loop is clearly against the law. So, too, are vehicles (club cars with no license plate) crossing 20th Street, which they do all the time. If there are violations all the time here, with the approval of Management, then the "hard-line" regarding rules is a farce.
And the politicians? Nothing from Powers?
Wish they’d have a closing Anniversary and we could get a decent store in there. The other day I nearly killed myself going up the aisles. Full of obstacles.
Ricky superiors don’t want a crackdown. They want to run this place into the ground. A rent strike would never work here. You don’t have numbers and many are students/transients who don’t
Care
You can all thank Garodnick and the TA for this mess. They made the evil Blackstone deal, Rick or no Rick. It is the company that has ruined us
>>Wish they’d have a closing Anniversary and we could get a decent store in there. The other day I nearly killed myself going up the aisles. Full of obstacles.<<
But you made it!
They should have relocated Associated to the space occupied by Target. Went into Target tonight. Nothing but shit. Absolute total shit.
Just got that e-mail about the self defense classes management is offering. They get the stupidest ideas. Better they should put out PS officers at night. One gimmick after another to appease the masses.
You are right that Target has poor stock. A big disappointment, but we need a better food store than Associated.
I thought your apartment was the place where you found peace and quiet...hahaha
UNREAL!
Yeah. Shit.
Associated is a crap supermarket.
Failure once again by Management.
"Associated is a crap supermarket."
Newsflash apparently.
"Failure once again by Management."
New frat boys moving into my building every weekend. In and out. In and out.
Regarding Associated, I generally buy what is on sale and from the cold cuts department. Bottom line: I save some money.
someone took a crap in the hallway. Not a dog. They need to add more bathrooms if 5 people are going to share a one bedroom.
What is going on here?! There have been security guards at both entrances to my building since before daylight and all they are saying is "it's an ongoing investigation" . My neighbor said that we were getting an email, but as of now, nothing, nada, zero!
Peter cooper is full of students I laugh out loud when others say it's just Stuy. Our floor is a beer hall many weekends.
And I am very disappointed in our TA. Not there for tenants, unless it is the latest MCI case, which they lose, or those buses to Albany.
"What is going on here?! There have been security guards at both entrances to my building since before daylight and all they are saying is "it's an ongoing investigation" . My neighbor said that we were getting an email, but as of now, nothing, nada, zero!"
Which building?
People used to refer to Stuyvesant Town as an "oasis".
Now they say, "Oh, you live in the 'projects'."
I rest my case.
How bout those overcharges.Beware of your renewal rate.
Oval building. They are still here! Security guard said extra protection for the holidays! Any other buildings getting this extra protection?
I also live in an Oval building and we don’t have any Security guards for “extra protection for the holidays”. More BS from Management and Public Safety. The lies that get told here are unbelievable. It’s an insult to our intelligence.
Another reminder: TS did not install the heating sensors--Met Life did.
There is absolutely nowhere to go for peace and quiet. No wonder people kill themselves here.
Just when I thought that Management would not create new stupid and insensitive things, there is a guitar and singer, at the Oval fountain area, and facing the Veterans Day flags, who is singing Beatles songs! With a loudspeaker, no less. The "performance" must have started at 10am. Unbelievable!!!>>>>>>
The man is a total ASS!
Buskers in the Oval? OMG! It gets worse! Maybe the came up from the L Train platform along with the rats.
I guess when "the suits" were going around and pointing to the Oval and declaring that it was a "great resource," they weren't kidding.
"I guess when "the suits" were going around and pointing to the Oval and declaring that it was a "great resource," they weren't kidding."
Are we expected to throw coins to the busker?
Peace and quiet should be guaranteed to those who wish to commemorate those vets who have fallen. But the flags are between a Farmers Market and loud Beatles songs. Thank you, Blackstone.
And I'm not talking about the residents who have planted themselves on those beach chairs right next to the flags. Laugh all you want, buddy! Enjoy the view.
What holidays? Ridiculous
Where is Susan Steinberg and the Tenants Association as Rome burns??
What a pair!
Susan "Just Call Rick" and "Love Boat Cruise Director Rick".
We are soooooo lucky to have them!
I don't think so.
They have to do that crappy music with everything
I wonder how many of the suits are veterans or have/had family who were veterans? Money is the only thing they care about and they would sell their children to the highest bidder. Amoral assholes.
What a shit show this place has become.
Ricky will say something like “hey, shit happens.”
Disgusting...what next?
Sorry to be a pill re this event but;
From the STR blog, the blogger himself:
Not everyone petitioned hard for this dirty, under stocked sham of a supermarket.
A true dishonor to the Vets by this dog and pony show.
FOR SHAME, Rick.
A true dishonor to our vets by the tacky Vet's Day event on the Oval.
What a disgrace.
Hang your head in shame, Rick.
Anyone know anything about the guards stationed at 19 Oval yet? Supposedly one tenant was told there was an incident in the building on Friday, but wouldn’t go any further.
Crap crap crap music. It is embarrassing they are starting to look very desperate i almost feel sorry for Rick and the tards.

RE: "Anonymous said...

You sound like an employee of Associated 12:42. Maybe you are. Sorry that there are many here who would love to have a decent supermarket.
Bigly!
208 families are packed in also. i raised 3 kids in a 2 bdroom here and one bath. Some are 6 people in a 2 bedroom one bath.
Let me say something about the Veterans Day commemoration, since I was a vet.
A respectful correction to your statement, STR. You ARE a vet and will be FOREVER. Thank you for your service.

HELLO, I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF ASSOCIATED NOR DO I HAVE ANY BUSINESS INTERESTS THERE.
>>Thank you for your service.<<
MetLife and Tishman Speyer are all smoke and mirrors.
http://www.tishmanspeyer.com/properties/200-park-avenue
https://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20150311/REAL_ESTATE/150319971/calif-billionaire-is-secret-owner-of-metlife-building
Real owner of MetLife Building is a Calif. billionaire
The owner of the MetLife Building, one of Manhattan's most well-known skyscrapers, isn't who most people think.
Blackstone's Well Known Reputation
If you can overlook any politics in the article, it captures Tony James Blackstone Slumlord, Shadow Banking getting rich-off-of-bankrupting-retirees way of doing business.
1) They’re in the slumlord business
After the housing crash left millions of U.S. homeowners underwater, Blackstone swooped in and lined its pockets from the misery of ordinary Americans.
Summary of the article:
3 Reasons To Be Worried About the Blackstone Group
1) They’re in the slumlord business
2) They’re engaged in shadow banking
3) They want your retirement savings
I'm bored to death at work so I decided to browse your website
on my iphone during lunch break. I enjoy the information you present here and can't wait to take a look when I
get home. I'm shocked at how quick your blog loaded on my phone ..
I'm not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyways, wonderful
blog!
I like Associated market on 14th street. I neither work there nor do I have to tell you why I like and appreciate the store.
Nobody wants to know why.
Dog shit in stairwell.
Or could it be from a bro returning home after too much partying and drinking?
What say you, Rick?
Susan?
How's the blue lanyard enforcement going, Rick?
There are dogs around the Oval WITHOUT the blue lanyard.
I just saw a dog sitting on the wall right by the Five Turd eColi Café WITHOUT the blue lanyard.
Public Safety, where are you?
Rick?
Rick?
Susan?
Two things:
BEFORE WE STAND UP AND FIGHT???

I was about to post on this very topic. I got in from outside and saw a few dogs in ST without that blue lanyard. No "immediate" stoppage by PS and an issuance of a summons. BS from Management.
Indeed NYCHA otherwise known as "the projects" have or had a reputation for garbage strewn about, urination and defecation in the stairwells and halls, pot smoking galore, unsavory activities, i.e., "working girls".
All of this is now found in PigStuy Town.
No wonder when I tell people in live in Stuyvesant Town people say, "Oh, you mean, the projects".

I think the answer is that most people will not stand up and fight. I am doing my part, but it is small considering what I could do but can't for a variety of reasons.
associated staff - kind and thoughtful staff. Had similar experince.
Agreed.Numbers and organization not here.
You can’t have a revolution or fight this company with five or ten residents.Let’s be real. And that number may even be high. You need numbers and an organized good TA.
Under Blackstone this will never be a great place to live Rick or no Rick.
12:30,the TA will do nothing. The TA is useless, an arm of management.
How do you get Stuy Town to replace laundry machines?
One broken over 2 years the other going on 4 months?
And, once again, the TA shoots itself in the foot. It is really pathetic how useless the TA has become.
I agree. He is always posting articles irrelevant to the QOL here. Avoiding the issues. We are on to him.
Although we need not be wary of Rick and management in voicing our opinions, we do need to be wary of more extreme measures such as rent strikes. When you a few without a strong TA backing Blackstone lawyers will eat you up alive in a minute. The numbers and organization are not here for extreme measures to “fight”
Four lanyardless dogs observed trotting merrily around the Oval in the past half-hour.
Where is the enforcement, Rick?
WHAT A FRAUD.
I saw a bicycle at the Oval stopped by a walking PS guard. "Have a safe day!" I heard the PS officer say. Then the rider kept on peddling around the Oval.
Nice enforcement, Rick and PS.
10:35 p.m.:
The bikes are a tremendous safety hazard especially when they go both ways. You have to look all around you.
She gave her standard answer, "Just email Rick!"
I then asked her if the sun will come up tomorrow.
Naturally she replied, "Just email Rick!"
Hahahahaha....so funny...maybe not...so sad.
This is the official roster:

I don't think that was the sole reason. (Warning people about traffic.) As for awareness, the link provided disproves that. Fess up! ;-)
Marsh continues to post on the TA Facebook page and is known and loved over there.
This is that roster on the TA Facebook page:

Yup, he's there.
I don't have a problem with the link that John Marsh posted.

Did you ask why the sprinklers were on? They're bleeding the lines for winter. Christ, this place has enough problems, this is not one of them.
Yes his postings are irrelevant crap
The blog is for local issues, not Times Square issues.
Marsh and his Peter Stuyvesant TA cronies like to deflect from QOL issues here with city announcements.
It is so funny that Management says it can't enforce the QOL rules here because the tenant might sue them.
