Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Learn How to Boil Water for $500
That's right. For $500 (or $450 for Oval Essential members) you can learn how to boil water from Food Network's Danny Boome at Oval Lounge starting August 3. No joke, too. Here's what it says on Danny's website:
Food Network Chef Danny Boome arrives at the Oval Lounge this August to bring his new Essential Cookery School to the residents of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. From boiling water to using fresh herbs, this 5-week course (10 lessons) will arm you with the philosophy, techniques and confidence you need to succeed in your kitchen.
Date: The course begins Monday, August 3 and runs every Monday and Wednesday through September 3.
Time: 7:00 – 9:00pm
Cost: $450 for Oval Members; $500 for non-members.
Reserve your place now through the Oval Amenities Office or on DannyBoome.tv.
Let's start saving now for this golden opportunity. Thank you, Jerry and Rob Speyer!!!

Boil water ?? pffffft... If they're not going to teach me how to fry or saute water, I'm simply not interested.

ReplyDeleteHow about walking on water?-with guest host The Lord Mayor(for life) Bloomberg
looks like jerry and rob's IT people are doing a test to implant a virus on all our computers
ReplyDeleteHuh?
ReplyDeleteIs the water included in the cost of the lessons? If so, is it the brown Stuyvesant Town water or will they be using clean water (from any fawcett OUTSIDE of Stuyvesant Town) or will it be Deer Park or Poland Spring water purchased from Associated? Also, is the cost of the gas going through the gas stove included or will they be metering it? What about the cooking pots and pans? Are they provided or do we have to bring our own? I heard that for a token fee of $65 per person they would loan a pan to each person who signed up, but for rent stabilized tenants it would be considered a Major Capital Improvement and would add an extra $15 per room prorated to October 2006 when Tishman Speyer took over the property at a horrendously over the top price of $5.4 billion. We have to help them recoup, folks, so don't complain if the cost of lessons to boil an egg or make a cup of tea is approximately $9,450.00 per person per apartment.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right, Anonymous. I think we should baptize Robbie in whatever water they use -- I hope Stuy Town brown! I'm sure lots of people will volunteer to help immerse him. They'll probably never let him back up though. Tsk tsk.
