Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Any News from Stuy Town/PCV About the Hurricane That's Coming?
Zone A, in deeper orange, are under a mandatory evacuation order from the Mayor. Stuy Town/Peter Cooper Village are in Zone B, which carry a potential flooding warning. Click on map to make it larger.

So far, I've not come across any management plans for this hurricane, which is supposed to hit us on Sunday. I assume they are making some plans.
I do feel that, structurally, ST/PCV will do fine, though there may be flooding and trees downed. Obviously, everyone should stock up on water (most important) and non-perishable food items.
Update: A commentator alerts those who have cars parked on the east side of Stuy Town that it may be best to move your cars before the hurricane descends upon us, as those areas will probably be flooded if the storm lives up to the worst expectations.
Also: Lux Living has new page up with valuable info on the hurricane and ST/PCV. There's a map present of the various zones Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village are in.
Update: Here it is, from management:

August 27, 7:20pm Update: By now, hot water, at least in the kitchen, should be shut down throughout most of ST/PCV. From news reports, it appears Irene has lessened in intensity, but it is still a dangerous storm, as lives have already been lost (some due to falling trees). There is a possibility that Con Ed will be turning off electricity throughout parts of Zone A, and maybe even into other areas, so it is NOT ADVISABLE TO USE ELEVATORS. This is not an official warning, but my own. If you are indoors already, stay indoors, and "enjoy" the weather.

You might want to add that, if your car is parked in Garage 3, 4 or 5, you will likely be in the market for a NEW car on Monday.
I moved my car from one of the East River garages today to one of the locations further West but the attendant said:
1) they are not taking any more cars (may change if enough people flee tonight) and
2) Rose has not communicated with them at all about emergency plans.
I specifically asked if they were going to sandbag the entrances and the attendant said that that was up to Rose and they are saying absolutely nothing.
Aside from the stupid "property alert" email they send out, I don't get the sense that they are doing anything to mitigate the damage from this historic storm.
Storm: 1
Rose (and tenants): Big Fat 0
Adam Rose is to Stuy Town what George Bush was to Katrina.
Rose Associates handled last years snow storm so masterfully, I can't wait to see how they fuck this up!
I heard that Adam has paid to seed the clouds and shoot any resident caught fleeing once the deluge begins...
It's going to be very funny how the Frat Boys and Sorority Girls will react to this crisis. Dude Bro, like OMG, like, whatever!
The question that should be asked of Rose is whether management will have a credible number of staff on site to handle issues, to the extent that they can be handled under the circumstances, that arise during the storm and to begin cleanup and handling of post storm issues after it passes on late Sunday. Giving out a telephone number and advising people to press option 3 is not going to be much help if no one or if insuffucient numbers of personnel are there to respond. In addition, one might ask if the senior managers of the property will be on site to assess the situation throughout and direct the response, includng the chief trunk room spelunker, and the heads of the major departments such as Security and Maintenance.
If the answers to those questions are no, then they have set the stage for failure on par with or worse than their abject failure in the Christmas snowstorm,.
So far, thye apear to have staged some sandbags around PCV that will be useful if flooding is below six inches or so and posted flyers in building lobbies, not under doors, where the elderly may not see them if they do not go out of the apartments and where they will be inaccessible if power goes out.
Not a real auspicious beginning. Anyway, we all be able to judge by Sunday night.
Will Rose desert a sinking ship--or rather a flooding ST/PCV? Emergency staff have to be on hand, I would think, and that includes some of higher-ups. That is the significant question. Otherwise....
Thankfully, Irene appears to be lessening somewhat in power as it hits the United States. But even if it reaches us with less force, there will probably be flooding and power outages.
A question that no one in the office can answer is: if the electric power goes off, will the gas also go off? Anybody know?
While we don't know quite how bad the storm will get or what Rose's response will be, we do know one thing: this thing is going to end up costing CW a fortune in cleanup and O/T.
Re: Electric power and gas, I don't know. But we should be prepared to do without both for a couple of days.
As I recall, when we had the massive power outage some years back, the gas stayed on.

Don't you worry about the "Frat Boys and Sorority Girls", because they will be the one to come to the aid of the "wheelchair, waker and depends" group way faster then you!
My roommates and I just filled water bottles and bought our neighboor a flashlight and batteries. I am sure it's more then what you did to help anyone.
I cooked during the blackout. I don't remember if the thing that sparks the burner worked, but if it didn't I know I would have used a lighter to manually light the flame.
If it wasn't for this blog and the LL site, we would know f*** all about what our situation in STPCV was as far as this terrible storm. Rose has done a bit fat NOTHING to keep us informed. I just got an email about Oval Events for next week. All total nonsense. Not a mention of the storm that is happening NOW. What useless, incompetent, inept losers. I think we should file a complaint against Rose with whatever organization accredits them (if any does).
To August 27 at 12:37 pm: It was nice of you to help your neighbor and I'm very glad you did. However, we have been doing that kind of thing for years. Stuyvesant Town used to be a community of caring people. We helped each other no end in the blackout and during other emergencies. I have given disabled and elderly neighbors food, milk, water, flashlights and a radio. I don't want a medal for that. Many (and I mean many) of my neighbors have done the same kind of thing. We have looked out for each other over the years; shopped for the elderly; visited the elderly in the hospital; run errands and cooked for them when they needed. Don't judge us and we won't judge you. You are no better or worse than those of us who have lived here for a long time.
