Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Summer Madness
Now I know where the expression comes from.
I don't live at the Oval, but going outside, I see that when the weather is good and the people are out (and there are more and more people, thousands more in this community), the place can get too much, even for me. I see infractions constantly, like a bicycle being ridden around the Oval and a PS officer looking right at it/him and not a word was said. I guess he didn't want to be bothered.
And there is garbage all over the place, including my building. That no one cares seems at times to be an understatement.
I passed by Oval Cafe. The guy playing (at a microphone, no less) must have driven people away, judging by the music he was playing and "singing."
In case the above is hard to read, know that Management really does want a circus, and almost every day you will get an "event." Blackstone must be so proud.
Update 6/3/2018: I'm looking at the above photo and looking. Is this photoshopped? A fake?
Update to update:Yes, A FAKE! Not to say that "creatively" removing this, adding that was not done, but the photo is not a vision of things as "is," but a FAKE.

Free Advertisement!
I am presenting this "as is".... I'm sure the free advertisement will be appreciated.
Oh, and check this out if you were considering renting the River Room:

"Residents can rent this space by the hour and host parties, bridal & baby showers, meetings, functions, study groups, presentations, and more."

UNBEARABLE!
The noise from working on the "new" improved Playground 1 is unbearable. I live in another building, across the loop, away from that playground, and even I can hear the jack-hammering, drilling, pounding, etc. If I lived around that playground, I would have to go someplace else, it is so disruptive and LOUD.
Please, if you live there, ask for a rent reduction. Take sound files, evidence. I went there, even as it is drizzly, to make sure. I had to leave, the noise was so bad.
To hell with making money!

Ah, the Good Old Days....
Open to debate whether days were good in general, but I took this photo near the Oval before it was taken down. Taken down, too, was a plaque which spoke of the affordability of this complex. The politicians promise that the plaque will be returned, but how long have you heard that promise? Hey, why not create a new one and mention affordability now?

Here We Go Again...And Again...And Again....
I see "the laws" disregarded all the time, despite the increased visible presence of PS officers. This morning, I saw, and took photos of, a mattress thrown out that is not properly wrapped for bedbugs. This mattress is different than the mattress I saw yesterday.
Also, what gives with placing a no-dog sign INSIDE the garden instead of near the fountain? The way it reads now (and there are two of these signs inside the garden), it can mean that a dog is not allowed in the garden. I've already seen infractions because the signs do not say what I think they mean. Unless this no-dog at the fountain rule has been discarded, the signs are not doing what they are supposed to be doing. Why is it that Management or Public Safety or anybody who works for Blackstone is not aware of this immediately?
-------
I found this interesting and amusing and, unfortunately, predictable.
Here is a screen shot from Town & Village:
According to Town & Village, this photo was taken at the Stuyvesant Town flea market. When was that? It was April 21st. When was election? April 24th. Aside from the assistant, who is also proclaiming Epstein to be a candidate? Who should not be in Stuyvesant Town proclaiming with buttons and pamphlets any political candidate?
STR himself saw Epstein workers inside Stuyvesant Town on Election Day. Who was near those workers and did not say anything until STR said something? Epstein and our new councilperson, Keith Powers.
The message is: NO ONE CARES. At least those in authority.
