Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

This should be part of the orientation at the leasing office - directed at the moms n dads paying for this hell hole. What is happening to this place??? How are the "powers that be" allowing this to go on???? Very sad .
The photos are perfect advertising for the NYU set. Do you really think they're looking at the bricks falling and the cement breaking? LMAO.
They're happy to see beer cans / hallway and vino on steps. I mean, think about it, it's a perfect venue for 10K future NYU students. Ya.
I can't believe there are people who pay market rate rents to live in this dump. I've also questioned the wisdom of people (such as myself) who pay significantly below market rate. Eventually, at some point, one has to put quality of life ahead of even a desirable rent.
I feel another MCI coming on. Management can let things run down and then charge an MCI to fix them as they did with the repaving. We need to exert pressure via city complaints so that the entire place doesn't deteriorate. These look like real safety hazards, and it's important to document them.
By jacking up the rents significantly every time an apartment is vacated and failing to do much maintenance or repairs, CW is trying to position the offering document for the sale of STPCV as best as possible from a financial standpoint. Of course, that assumes that either potential buyers are idiots and won't do a careful inspection of the property to determine its condition or, more likely, CW believes that any new buyer will be as callous to tenants as it is and thus will not care about needed maintenance and repairs.

I'd say so, too. There's so many MCIs that can be applied in a year. But this one is probably coming up in the future.

It was these type of photos that made Lux Living so effective or most likely it's demise. When rental agents take their newest dupes/newbies to their rental demo units, they must carefully choreograph their paths to avoid such embarrassing examples of managements ineptitude. Unless of course it's "Sandy-Related"
I find the dog sh*t in the elevators and hallways and the used condoms a particularly effective marketing technique for prospective renters don't you?
don't complain. if you complain and management has to repair, we all get slapped with mcis.
that's how they roll here. they don't tell the tenants this. all prospective tenants are led to believe the rent is X dollars. then throughout the signing, the broker tells them she forgot to add in the charge for a/c and more. by this time, a prospective tenant needs a home, so they're stuck. It's illegal and non one doing shit about it. It happened to us. NO one cares though. Just keep giving CWC and CR more money.

I'd say so, or at least people in his office do. This blog is popular with a number of the higher ups. Security office, management, etc.
So even though they read this blog they obviously don't give a rat's ass.
When are you running for re-election Dan?
I've noticed, on occasion, that the Powers That Be do wake up after a posting here and try to alleviate a problem for a week or two, but then it's back to the same old lethargic response.
Dan already won his re-election and now is a third-term councilman. Next stop: Mayor!
