Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

And now the chess tables are gone
Work will also start on the other side of the Oval, where more chess tables exist.

They are CONSTANTLY ripping up this place with countless STUPID ideas. It never ends around here. Never any peace and quiet anymore. Nothing but nothing settles in around here anymore. I can't wait to see what the next stupid thing they build in its place. You here this management? "you have completely destroyed what once was a very nice place to live in." Maybe a new "puke" station for all of these students you rent to.
September 28, 2015 at 2:11 PM They are weak and in fear of Cuomo's revenge vendettas. They are under his tight control. Some willingly some out of fear, all failing the people. It takes stronger political courage then incumbents possess. Time for new electeds.
The tenant's association has virtually vanished, no more general meetings. It appears that they have given up this place to become a hotel/dorm dump. That conversion talk was a bunch of bunk. Who would buy here?
I am a chess player who is outraged by the actions of management in removing the tables. People of all ages would sit and play, or just converse and enjoy a sense of community. But, hey, that's gone. But what else would you expect from the ghouls who chopped down so many beautiful trees in the Oval. A pox on them and their greedy cohorts. Or, less elegantly stated, a ROYAL FU*K YOU.
I rarely see people playing chess at those tables. What I did see was that same old guy with his feet up on it, thinking it was part of a lounge chair, day after day.
I am another chess player who is so disheartened by the removal of the tables. Why? Why? Management must truly be out of its mind. Is this the only project they can think of? What a colossal waste of money! At least we can all sleep easily knowing that soon the skating rink will be back. F U Tishman-Speyer and all the scum who have followed.
Anything that the longtimers enjoy will be destroyed. They want to destroy all the older and [real] RS tenancy, so they destroy anything and everything that demo loves. They started with the tree park in the Oval. Loathsome bastards.
Does kinda ruin my Saturday AM bagel picnic with the kids, but it might keep that feet-up, cigar smoking guys out of range. That said, I would like to hear the rationale behind spending the time and money on something so insignificant.

I know! A new luxury studio apartment built for one, will take its place.
And the beat goes on and on and on and on and on.................................
And where are Garodnick, Hoylman, Kavanaugh? And where, of course, is out abysmal failure of a Tenants Association?

Management has confirmed that Chess Tables to be replaced by luxury checkerboards. Can't Wait!
Sandra Lee seems like a nice lady. What on earth is she doing with that POS?

Conversion? It already has taken place. From bad, to the worse it can EVER be around here.

Are they not going to replace the chess tables? Nasty bastards!
