Some rules to mention again:
"Although we are private property, remember that all New York City dog laws apply here as well. NYC law dictates that all dogs must be on a leash of 6’ or less at all times outside of your apartment. If you don’t have an appropriate leash, you can pick one up free of charge at the StuyTown Management Office (276 1st Ave Loop)."
"When walking your dog, it is essential that you carry around bags to pick up after them. All residents will receive a portable container of 'doggie bags' when registering but after that it will be the resident’s responsibility to always carry bags and clean up every time."
And let us not forget this:
https://www.stuytown.com/nyc-apartments-info/pet-friendly
"We are pleased to announce a new way of identifying registered dogs on property which will allow our Public Safety staff to easily recognize registered dogs and more effectively enforce StuyTown's dog policies. Management will be providing new lanyards which residents should now use with their Dog ID Tag on the end and clipped onto the handle of the leash so that it is easily visible. After April 30th, 2016, anyone walking a dog on property without a lanyard and tag will be escorted off of property, including dog walkers.
"Lanyards and clips will be available for pickup at the Management Office at 276 1st Avenue Loop and Public Safety at 2 Stuyvesant Oval. If your dog is already registered, simply show your dog’s tag to the receptionist at either office and they’ll give you a lanyard, clip, and a few other dog goodies. If you have yet to register your dog, please see instructions below."
Um, when was the last time you saw a blue lanyard clearly visible?
And...
http://evgrieve.com/2016/04/all-dogs-in-stuy-town-must-now-have-tag.html
And...
And I love this--
After April 30th, 2016, anyone walking a dog on property without a lanyard and tag will be escorted off of property, including dog walkers.
ReplyDeleteSTR, let's face it, Management is not going to enforce any rules. They don't care and the rules are posted just for legal liability reasons. There really is no management here. Management is like the Wizard of Oz. Just an illusion. Probably the only way anyone gets to hear from Management is if they fail to pay their rent. That is the only thing that gets their attention.
ReplyDeleteI cannot get carpets with the 3 dogs we have. Too much hair and mess.
ReplyDelete"After April 30th, 2016, anyone walking a dog on property without a lanyard and tag will be escorted off of property, including dog walkers."
ReplyDeleteYeah. Right. You could walk a fucking wolf pack through here and PS would ignore you, just like they ignore the speeding bicycles. They just don't want to get involved and that is a fine sentiment UNLESS you happen to be the only fucking law enforcement we have here! I should say "apology for law enforcement ...."
"They don't care and the rules are posted just for legal liability reasons."
ReplyDeleteThis just doesn't make any sense since posting the rules and not enforcing them creates a legal liability.
"I cannot get carpets with the 3 dogs we have. Too much hair and mess."
ReplyDeleteI guess we can now check you off for TWO lease violations. Not to worry, Blackstone does not give a shit.
"Only two dogs shall be allowed in any one apartment, subject to the weight restriction."
>>"I cannot get carpets with the 3 dogs we have. Too much hair and mess."<<
ReplyDeleteI think that's a joke.
I don't think it's a joke.
ReplyDeleteBIG load of unpicked dog crap on the way to Gracefully, which wasn't prepared for lunch anyway. Thank you, Rick and Blackstone, for this dog crap.
ReplyDeleteI should change my eating habits, too. Gracefully has good lunch time food, but you have to get there before 11am when the school nearby is let out for lunch and you have no place to sit. I'd say 10:40am is good to get there, but the "staff" was kinda not with it, and so no food yet at that time, leaving one with not much time to select, stop over at the cashier, and eat your food at the nice window that can be available. If you are later than that, you can go around 11:45am when the school kids start clearing out. Kids are a-okay but they do take up ALL the free space, and then some.
ReplyDeleteThe prices at Gracefully tend to be high, so you will see a lot of credit cards flashed if the people are buying anything else.
Which gets me to cooking my own lunch. I'm tired of Lenz's, which can also have tough or untasty chicken. And then there's Associated, but likewise their food is drab by now and there is no place to sit.
I can always prepare my own lunch, eat it at home if the weather is cold or rainy, and sip a tea later in the day at Gracefully, watching the people go by.
I live on the 8th floor.
ReplyDeleteWhen it's too cold and nasty out or I'm just too darn lazy, I just let my two pit bulls out into the stairwell and let them take a sh*t there.
The porters have to pick it up anyway...hahaha
The other day the dogs took a leak in the elevator.
The neighbors complain about my canines' incessant barking but I just say, "Fu*k 'em."
Hahaha...Don't you just love Stuy Town.
Luxury Living At Its Best...hahaha.
You may think I'm a nasty neighbor from hell.
But I'm not!
I drop my shit in the Compost Bin.
Proud of me, Rick!
Hahaha.
P.S. Before anyone gets bent out of shape, this posting is satire...but there is an element of truth.
So Sad.
joke or not, people hate having carpets and pets. Try it sometime. damn bitch to clean daily.
ReplyDeleteWalked out this morning and observe dog without leash scampering all around! Finally, owner desides to try and catch up with his dog!?!
ReplyDeleteNothing surprises me any more!
STR, you sound lonely. I hope you are not unhappy.
ReplyDelete1/22 @ 5:16. Very selfish statement. If it's not just someone being sarcastic. Because it's too much to clean up carpets with dogs, your neighbors have to suffer & listen to the noise. That's the problem- people do what's best for them & never think of others. Try to be respectful of others rights - not just your own rights.
ReplyDeleteGracefully sucks and is overpriced to boot!
ReplyDeleteHello STR, Just getting caught up on the posts and thank you again from all of us I am certain. Here's an idea, what with the thousands among us with awful above tenants who get no carpets, Blackstone should offer a credit, whatever the fuck they wish to new tenants if , when they get carpets. eh?
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid Blackstone will do NOTHING on this. Just excuses.
ReplyDelete>>STR, you sound lonely. I hope you are not unhappy.<<
ReplyDeleteNot anymore! Tomorrow I get four dogs, total weight 200 pounds. By the time PS notices (ha!), these dogs will be legal! STR walking his dogs on long leashes through the complex..... And if they shit? Oops, I forgot my baggie. What's it to anyway, mister?
BTW, Five Stuy Cafe has been reinspected and it has received a letter grade of "A".
ReplyDeleteThe only major violation was for six negative points:
1) Food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred.
And Ess-A-Bagel, where the lines are out the door. 20 violation points!
ReplyDeleteViolations recorded in the following area (s) and a Notice of Violation issued at the initial operational cycle inspection conducted on 12/19/2016.
"Critical" violations are displayed in red.
Violation points: 20
Sanitary Violations
1) Cold food item held above 41º F (smoked fish and reduced oxygen packaged foods above 38 ºF) except during necessary preparation.
2) Food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred.
3) Wiping cloths soiled or not stored in sanitizing solution.
And they microwave their eggs.. only bagel store I've been to without a stove top
DeleteThe suits were out in full force today. With a lot of very wide "Stuyvesant Town" umbrellas. I would say they were not just looking at any damage done by the weather, but it could be. A number of them went to the broker office later on, I think.
ReplyDeleteAnd Rick was there, of course. Hi!
All of this rain should clear out a lot of the piss and shit in the sty. That's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if a speeding bicycle plowed into Rick and the Dicks. I bet PS would put down their cell phones pretty darn fast then!
ReplyDeleteToo bad that the suits weren't around when I saw a guy without ST dog tags walking 2 dogs around the oval. And of course not a public safety officer in sight. They are in perpetual hibernation.
ReplyDelete>>All of this rain should clear out a lot of the piss and shit in the sty. That's a good thing.<<
ReplyDeleteThe piss, yes, but the shit is hanging in, though not what it once was.
I'd love it if Rick lived on M or 2 or 3. With the douchdicks we have living above and next to us. Ya, that'd be funny.
ReplyDeleteHowever... He should see the aftermath of the building's area, all spruced up with dog urine. He should care. "Should" being the operative word.
ReplyDeleteNew York politicians gave Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village to Wall Street for the latest Wall Street on Main Street Scam. When can we vote this corruption out of office?

At the VERY LEAST, all the rain has temporarily washed away all the dog $%&!@
ReplyDeleteand Pi#$% away!!!! Boy, I wish it would rain every day!
i'm betting rick is gone by december. too cold here and too messy. ;wink.
ReplyDeleteHe don't care for nuthin". He's just a smoke screen.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember the elderly staff at Oval Study? Now they have college kids it seems. NYU? Baruch?
ReplyDeleteThe elderly staff was quite good...
I bet that the cafe does NOT have all the signage it is suppose to have. Remember "for residents and their guests"?
ReplyDeleteAccording to what I read, "nuisance" can be, without any legal moves, dog shit left behind and not picked up. It is Management's duty to pick up this "nuisance," but the first question will be "Did you inform Management?" which gets us back to residents not having the responsibility of informing Management about dog shit in the complex.
ReplyDeleteYou could, and possibly did, have hoards of Management's people walk by and ingore the dog shit around the corner from Gracefully. This dog shit is still there, despite the rain.
Now if I call this in, I would have to call Management first. That doesn't solve the problem. It is not my responsibility or the responsibliy of the tenants to be concerned with dog shit. That's what Management and its workers are for. They are ignoring the problem, until a resident calls it in.
I will battle this when it gets warmer.
>i'm betting rick is gone by december. too cold here and too messy. ;wink.<
ReplyDeleteRick has kids who are in school. That said, I don't know why he is sticking around, if just for his mental health. It's gotta be hard to try to placate everyone. And I include Blackstone, of course.
I am so sorry to say this as I know it is rude but every time I look at the video of the management rep explaining the dog rules all I can think of is the joker from batman.
ReplyDeletePlease also battle the overcharges and our dealings with horrific neighboring apartments.
ReplyDeleteSTR...I don't know how to intend to wage your battle. But I feel I can say with confidence that little will matter for a few reasons. First, anonymity is fairly disabling. This notwithstanding however, outside of tenants holding organized protests (which clearly isn't going to happen), the way things are set up, only the force of law can have an effect. So the key is to get the DHMH involved again. Unless folks are willing to write the DHMH, it will continue to wimp out from dealing with its own rules. The DHMH counsel is Thomas Merrill: tmerrill@health.nyc.gov, Or try this site to reach the commissioner, Mary Bassett: http://www.nyc.gov/html/mail/html/maildoh.html; it allows anonymity.
ReplyDeleteI will try those, but I think I'm going to try contacting Management and seeing how long it takes. Again, not now, as I have other things that are keeping me busy.
ReplyDeleteI will note that apparently going to the 13 precinct and having copies of those photos of that ice cream truck at the corner (thank you, Edmund) has helped: Except for one instance, the truck seems to be gone. Permanently? I don't know, as one can never know, but so far, so good....
This gets back to tenants doing it for themselves. Don't wait or take the response "Have you informed Rick..." from the TA, who is not oppositional except for MCIs.
This brings me to MCIs... There is nothing stopping residents from challenging the MCIs without the TA involvement. I will give it some time. We have 30 days.
Does Rick live underneath tenants or top floor?
ReplyDeleteBang, bang , bang goes the child's toys -in the apartment above me. So cute. Can't play on the "rugs" because the toys don't operate on rugs. So delighted he has 20% of bare floors to play. So glad I could accommodate him. Bang , bang, bang!!! Is he banging blocks, trucks?? Doesn't matter. This is my life now. No peace & quiet. Isn't that our right - peace & quiet within the confines of our apartment??? Class Action anyone??? Bet we would win. Yes, I called Management a number of times. Nothing changes. Gotta do something - Rick.
ReplyDelete"Does Rick live underneath tenants or top floor?"
ReplyDeleteLower floor.
We have same kid above our flat. Bang, drop, bang, no carpets i bet at all. Throws, then drives his lil car, then bangs into walls. Sound echo deafening below. He don't care, his dickhead parents don't care.
ReplyDeleteWhad ya say Rick? Want to live here, switch apartments? Bet ya don't!
STR, I think that ice cream truck is only there in warm weather. Nobody wants ice cream in winter.
ReplyDeleteHe is sticking around. This is what he does, it is his career to be the face for the behind the scenes financial teams turning properties over to more profitable target audiences like Boca Raton Resort & Club.
ReplyDelete"Boca resort works to break out of time capsule

Maybe blackstone should start carpeting for the tenants, plenty of revenue in place for it, whats the price of a flat here farrrrrrrrrrrrrr from the subway now?
ReplyDelete>>STR, I think that ice cream truck is only there in warm weather. Nobody wants ice cream in winter.<<
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely possible. Though it was not here also during our rare warmer weather.
Fwiw, Rick does not live on a lower floor and he does not have a one bedroom. Having lived here in a one bedroom - never ever ever again - they are far more problematic and echo of noise than any other. Not to mention they ar all split now with 4 or more people living in these. Class action?
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of "leisure travelers" in our building.
ReplyDeleteI just put carpet down in my entire apartment. It made such a difference in absorbing noise from my neighbors. But I am fortunate that I live on the top floor and never had to experience anyone above me.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs....the dogs....
I just can't keep fighting with the same people to clean up after their pets. I was out at 5:30 the other morning walking my dog. A guy about maybe 15 feet away from me didn't clean up after his dog but for my benefit PRETENDED like he did. He actually bent down and did a fake pick up. I laughed and told him to just man up and walk away. If you are going to leave it, just leave it. Don't pretend to pick it up. What kind of person does this?
It wasn't my first pretend pick up I have seen.
I just kindly let them know leave it with conviction if you are going to do it!
The fake pick up is an insult to us all.
(Of course I also offer a bag as well)
5:49
ReplyDeleteI have padded wall-to-wall carpeting in my entire apartment (other than bathroom and kitchen), and I also have a child. First off, I have a good relationship with my downstairs neighbor who has told me that she has heard my son playing with his toys, but it isnt too often or loud. Secondly, and more importantly, of course he doesn't care. He's a damn kid. They play and make noise.
I do agree that they need carpeting, but as you can see in my case, even wall-to-wall carpeting does not guarantee complete peace and quiet for the person below. Calling parents of kids that PLAY imbeciles is just uncalled for.
9 23 when you have this situation above you or next to you and it's as bad as it has been for so many, post back to us.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteIf you are on the top floor, you don't have noise from neighbors. !! Huh?
Moved out of 615 E 14th a few months ago and just so all know the building was fine at first and became a living hell.
ReplyDelete"Rick does not live on a lower floor "
ReplyDeleteSorry, me again, yes he does, my source is very good.
Moved out of 615 E 14th a few months ago and just so all know the building was fine at first and became a living hell.
ReplyDeleteIf he.she has padded wall to wall and those underneath are able to hear toys, then the buildings are even worse in this regard. fake post?
ReplyDeleteFake post or just arrogance . If you have wall to wall ( Who has that now??? Maybe long time residents) , your kid can't play with all his/ her toys easily. Have to use the bare floor. I can tell immediately when the kid above plays on the carpet & when he plays on the wooden floor. Hark!!! I hear the kid banging on the bare floor. Over & over & over!!! Stressful , for sure. Not for them , but for me. Find that post hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteI am so tired of that stupid slogan"A little caring goes a long way" that Blackstone keeps promoting to cover their inept management. Maybe they should care a little about the garbage that is residing in these apartments and the lack of rule enforcement in the Pig Sty.
ReplyDeleteWhen this place first opened , people had 3 to 6 kids in these apartments. You never heard a sound. Never!!! Yes, there was full carpeting but people were considerate of one another. They cared about their neighbors. So, why were apartments quiet then, even with a number of kids???? The floors have not gotten worn down that much. People had actual furniture & carpeting. It absorbed the sound. Now, these transients have a few furniture pieces & little or no carpeting. Oh, and they don't care. Yeah, be a good neighbor!!! Management is telling that to the wrong people. Tell it to the offenders. Not the ones complaining about noise.
ReplyDeleteI am the 9:23 poster, and I have had more then my share of annoying people above and next to me. One of them was, and is, a famous model (sports illustrated swimsuit cover model) who strutted around her apartment in high heels all night with her model roomies (this is years back).
ReplyDeleteI was more referring to the tone of that previous poster and his tone regarding a child who happens to play, and his dickhead parents, and relating it to my personal experience with rugs (and how they aren't necessarily effecyive).
Not only did I assume Rick lives on the top floor, I also assumed he lived in the PCV apartment with the roof top recreational deck, that is accessible by the private stairway to heaven. I may also add that I have no problem with him. At least there is a face to the name, I see him about the complex on numerous occasions. Bad neighbors are just that, bad neighbors. The constant moving in/moving out trucks are a bother. But in a nutshell this is still a great place to live.
ReplyDeleteI don't expect complete and total quiet, but I wish my neighbor would walk like a normal human being. The heavy pounding of his/her footsteps can be heard throughout my apartment no matter which room I'm in. You have to hear it to believe it--the freakin' walls shake!
ReplyDeleteRings with familiarity and a future designed by the Mayor's deal:
ReplyDeleteIn a letter last month, hotel president Rick Hayduk informed the Boca resort's club premier members of the owner's plans to sell.
"They believe this is the perfect juncture for new ownership because of the strength and stability of the Resort & Club. This will allow its next owners to think and dream big, envisioning new heights and goals for which to strive," Hayduk wrote.
News of the Boca resort's possible sale doesn't surprise Peter Ricci, director of hospitality management program at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, who said Blackstone is a real estate company that is truly "return on investment oriented."
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/tourism/fl-boca-raton-resort-for-sale-20141104-story.html
Just got my renewal notice from the TA. Will not be paying to join this worthless organization. I had to laugh at the statement they made that new management is more"receptive". Receptive to what? They are allowed to turn this community into a hotel dorm dump and the TA does not say a word. In fact, they have totally abandoned the quality of life issue here.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. This is a situation where residents need to ask "What have you done for me lately?" And the answer is not a damn thing.
DeleteI can't begin to tell you how pissed off I am with the TA cozying up to politicians and management. It is sickening.
I have been a member of the TA for a long long time, but the increased fee coupled with complete ineffectiveness and political schmoozing has pushed me over the edge.
I too just got my renewal notice from the TA. I tore it up. What a useless, self-promoting, ineffectual bunch of losers. They are in bed with Danny Boy G, Blackstone and all the corrupt politicians who supposedly represent us.
ReplyDelete$50 to renew..you gotta' be kidding?!
I wonder how many suckers are members of the TA? They NEVER make that public. If there are more than a few hundred I would be shocked.
Or where their money goes?
LOSERS.
I'm pretty large (guy) and I purposely walk in my apartment with lighter steps as I am aware of the shaking it causes. and I have thick good rugs.
ReplyDeleteno floorboards! Management needs to address this before a human falls through.
ReplyDelete"Just got my renewal notice from the TA"
ReplyDeletePlease me mindful of the increase in dues. They are increasing from $25 per year to $50 per year. Honestly, as I've indicated in prior posts, they're a bargain at any price. If you want to continue receiving the outstanding, competent, and unequivocating advocacy for the tenants of this sty, I suggest you remit payment as soon as possible. I also would not rule out, if at all possible, remitting MORE than they are actually asking for. Imagine how much more they could accomplish if we tenants would, perhaps, skip a meal per week and contribute the money saved to the STPCVTA. The possibilities are endless.

"Um, when was the last time you saw a blue lanyard clearly visible?"
ReplyDelete-----
Last time?
Before regulations can be enforced they have to be implemented.
Has anyone ever seen a clearly visible blue lanyard and tag identifying a Blackstone registered pooch? How long ago?
We know Blackstone does not enforce Blackstone's pet regulations.
Other than policy issuance and informational P.R., is there any indication Blackstone actually physically implemented Blackstone's pet registration regulations and distributed pet identification lanyards/tags?
"Now, these transients have a few furniture pieces & little or no carpeting. Oh, and they don't care. Yeah, be a good neighbor!!! Management is telling that to the wrong people. Tell it to the offenders. Not the ones complaining about noise."
ReplyDeleteyou hit the nail right on the head!
"TA Supporter," I love your sense of humor! Keep it coming!
ReplyDeleteManagement is not serious.
ReplyDelete>>Has anyone ever seen a clearly visible blue lanyard and tag identifying a Blackstone registered pooch? How long ago?<<
ReplyDeleteI saw one (just one) the other day. Otherwise, you can look and look and look....
BS again!
If the transients have no real furniture, then management should furnish with rugs.
ReplyDeleteThe incompetence at Blackstone is mind boggling. You would think this was their first foray into real estate. I am currently searching through my funds positions and selling any funds I own that hold a position in this company and any related entities. Stockholders and the retirees in Canada who hold a major position in this deal should be made aware of their sheer incompetence.
ReplyDelete1:39 PM, I am doing the same thing! I discovered that my 401k fund has a heavy investment in Blackstone so I dumped it as fast as I could. It is a dirty company and will probably be instrumental in the next crash just like Lehman Bros was. It is a very slimy outfit that relies on preying on the vulnerable in order to take their property and life-savings and turn their homes into money mills.
ReplyDeleteBlackstone is as ethical as Bernie Madoff was.
