And these are from almost two years ago. Funny, how the excellent reviews kinda say the same thing:

And this is the company Stuy Town uses:

Now, do not get me wrong. I think honest reviews are excellent because they let the potential customer know the truth about what they are getting. So that is all I want: honest reviews.
They have to write their own good reviews because nobody else will! They have "alternative facts" just like the Trump Circus!
ReplyDeleteLet's see. Notices in the elevators. Notices in the glass cases on M and T. Notices by the recycling area. Notices in the Laundry room. Notices on the door frames, reminding people not to smoke. THIS IS INSANE! Goes to show you of how much is wrong with this place. Just like a dorm. This place is not a nice place to live in anymore. Too many things wrong with this place. What a disgrace. I am embarrassed to bring a guest over.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fact that there is no dog shit on any ST/PCV walkway.

ReplyDeleteabsolutely fantastic location, great looking, spacious and much better than my one BR here, which is more money and has fuckers living above me.
Sorry, but invoking Dan Garodnick's name does not work around here (with me) to get his "call to action" poster seen by all, re: the TA Facebook. Obviously it is political, though I may or may not agree with it. It is political because Garodnick makes it so. Read it. Come back to me and tell me, with a straight face, that it is not political and a hope by Garodnick to get his name more out there. Delusional TA.
ReplyDeleteThis is another instance, as if more were needed, that shows the TA and Garodnick are tied together. Hey, how about all the crap that is happening here? A call to action?
No, I guess not. But a "call to action" is what is needed for this place. How I'd love that. But as long as we have our midtown business high-rises, care of the Garodnick-loving REBNY, and ignore the city's ability to help small businesses. Thank you, TA.
Stupid, stupid, stupid!
And, TA, yes Ballin' is supposed to mean (wink, wink) the other balling. How naive can you get!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, give our Man Dan and the TA something to be proud about. Engage in some ballin' over the weekend!
ReplyDeleteGarodnick should worry more about the conditions in the Sty, rather than national issues. I agree that it is political. When I saw it on the TA site I was disgusted.
ReplyDeleteI am so sick and tired of the relationship between the TA and Dan Garodnick. When is the last time the TA has something on their Facebook page or their website claiming a victory for the tenants? The success rate of the TA and Dan in PCVST is abysmal and possibly even non-existent. Susan and Dan should be ashamed to shoe their faces on this property.
ReplyDeleteBut they do have Dan Garodnick!
ReplyDeletewould be great to know which one of the tenants already living here won the lottery. i'm guessing few, if any.
ReplyDeleteIt is an election year and the City is desperately putting homeless anywhere they can renting blocks of "hotels" which is JUST NOT SAFE. It is not safe for the homeless and not safe for the hotel guests or anyone in the building. Policing crimes that happen in hotels, or happen in homeless, or happen in dorm campuses, takes different training and weapons. HOW MANY APARTMENTS IN STUYVESANT TOWN HAVE THE CITY RENTED?????
ReplyDeleteWHERE IS THE TENANT ASSOCIATION AND WHY HAVEN'T THEY DONE A FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST?????
Look at the higher price the "hotel" landlord gets on rooms rented to the City versus rooms rented to consumers! THIS IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE STUPID STUPID AND DANGEROUS!
CBS2 has learned that the city is now using the New Yorker Hotel near Madison Square Garden, the Skyline on Tenth Avenue, and the Holiday Express in Chelsea to house the homeless – at premium prices.
The Department of Homeless Services is apparently so touchy about the increased dependence on hotels that it would not tell Kramer how many rooms are now being used. The department told Kramer she had to file a Freedom of Information Act request, and said the information might not be available, if at all, for five weeks.
Mascali said the city is required to tally how many rooms it is paying for — every night.

"It's a fact that there is no dog shit on any ST/PCV walkway."
ReplyDeleteI agree with that. There is no dog shit anywhere and there is no noise and everybody has 80% carpeting with under-padding.

I think the lottery is a sham. Anything associated with DeBlasio and Garodnick has a strong smell of corruption. Sorry I feel that way, but I do.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the lottery is a sham and is used to fill apartments in collusion with the city.
ReplyDeletewhy are the peter cooper porters so angry and rude to tenants?
ReplyDeleteThe porter in my building does a great job and is so pleasant. It is a wonder given the piggy demo that lives here.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, DeBlasio is corrupt, Garodnick is corrupt and the Tenants association is corrupt. Therefore, there is no hope. We've been sold out by those we trusted.
ReplyDeleteMy porter is a mean one. we also do not have a piggy demo yet. many in our building have complained about the porter, they do not care. In fact, it seems they are happy when a porter is mean to us all.
ReplyDeleteIt is not a nice community of late, porters & residents. Barely a hello in an elevator or a smile in the hallway. It is a very sad place now, what a shame.
ReplyDeleteBlackstone told us not to recycle on the snow day because they were short staffed. I saw our porter shoveling snow, thus he could not clean the recycling area. (it was filthy) Why couldn't those lazy PS officers shovel snow? They do nothing but drink coffee at headquarters. Our porter has enough to do and does a good job. Put some of those PS officers to work.
ReplyDeleteThe TA doesn't exist anymore. Been very quiet for quite a long time.
ReplyDelete>>It is not a nice community of late, porters & residents. Barely a hello in an elevator or a smile in the hallway. It is a very sad place now, what a shame.<<
ReplyDeleteIt seems that it's a building thing. My building is relatively free of grumpy or disinterested looks, but then I am generally a pleasant fellow. I've made acquaintances in or near the elevator who are new. Even young people can hold the front door for you and be polite. It really depends. Now, true, there have been times in which I am pissed off. And I find it can take much longer to get one of the elevators, as the both of them are up on the top floors and used by newer tenants. I have not seen the amount of people in my building, but I can't say we don't small talk or smile.
I believe that the college students are advised by management to be polite to the older tenants when they move in. This is meant to pacify us. Years ago when I had them move next door to me they would introduce themselves. Despite the fact that many of them are polite, they do not belong here en masse. The problems are created when they let loose within their apartments and outside on the property.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lovely porter, but I think the porters are used and abused by Management. Our porter cleans the laundry room and recycling areas, but the filthy slobs who live here soon make the recycling area look like a tornado went through it. They chuck stuff in all the wrong bins, put food waste in the recycling bins and there is always a load of packing crap left strewn around. We have more students than "regular" tenants and some of them are total slobs. Not all, but some. I wish they would stop marketing to students and transients.
ReplyDeleteManagement has hit an new low.
ReplyDeleteThey are now hawking t-shirts, hoodies and hats.
Saw it advertised on the weekly email (propaganda) Stuy Town sends me.
Stuy Town "garb" can be picked up at the FiveTurd Café...along with salmonella...lol.
Guess they can't give enough heat though?
How utterly despicable.
Tenants Association is NON-EXISTENT.
Only a fool would send them $50.
I agree. I hold the door for all those I know, here 20 years and some or most never say thank you. Never and they know us all.
ReplyDeleteNice property, but when it comes to quality of life, until they install wall to wall carpeting it's nothing but a huge dormitory. Management is not serious at all about enforcing noise complaints and lack of proper carpeting in the apartments . Very difficult to have a peace of mind and enjoy life in your own expensive apartment when you constantly HEAR your neighbors living their life above you and next to you. And that's day and night!!
ReplyDeleteNo they are not serious, what's her name will tell you (should i post her name STR?) that those you call about have carpets. She says she checks all tenants. She says she knows they have carpets. I'm LOL so loud as i hear their every step in heeled, YES HEELED shoes, also the ball, right now, the dog, the cat. right now. Call her and complain, you'll see.
I'm thinking about selling a line of "Pig Sty Town" garb. Bet it would outsell "Stuy Town" garb.
ReplyDelete"I agree. I hold the door for all those I know, here 20 years and some or most never say thank you. Never and they know us all."
ReplyDeleteI hold the the door for tenants I know and most say thank you and are polite, but if anyone just walks through without saying thank you, I say a very loud YOU'RE WELCOME! That usually gets the message across. I have to say it loud because most of them are wearing earbuds. ;-)
PCV -- the cleaning person for us has been (moved here august '16) snippy and smartly. we are clean and excellent tenants. we donteven step on the floors whhile he is mopping, we walk out another exit.we take our garbage down, recycle slowly and also are very generous to him. he hates us and has been known to mumble cursing words, he only likes the older tenants.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea 3:28!
ReplyDelete“We take our garbage down”
ReplyDeleteI hope this text is just a semantics issue. Garbage should never be taken “down” to the recycle area. Only re-cycle items, electronics, and compost (IF you compost) should be taken down. Garbage (unless bulk, see below) belongs in the compactor chutes that are located on each floor. From the official House Rules webpage:
7. GARBAGE AND RECYCLING
a. The use of the garbage and refuse disposal chutes shall be in accordance with the signs attached to them and only garbage and refuse wrapped in small parcels may be placed in the chutes. Flour, vacuum cleaner dust, floor scrapings, and other non-recyclable objects must be mixed with household refuse and garbage and wrapped for safe disposal. Items required to be recycled shall be disposed of in the proper manner and in the locations designated by Landlord.
b. Tenants and other occupants and guests shall not sweep, shake or hang carpets, rugs or other articles out of any window of the Building. Tenant shall not sweep or throw or permit to be swept or thrown any dirt, garbage, cigarettes, or other substances out of the windows or doors or into any of the halls, elevators, elevator shafts stairwells or any other public areas of the Buildings. Tenant shall not place any articles outside of the Apartment or outside of the Building except in safe containers and only at sites designated by Landlord.
c. Tenants are to use the designated Recycling Centers found in each building and are to sort the recyclables in accordance with the signage. Boxes too large for the recycling bins are to be flattened and left against the walls in the Recycling Centers.
d. Baby carriages, strollers, bicycles, shopping carts, garbage cans, doormats, footwear, umbrellas or other similar articles are prohibited to be placed or allowed to stand in any Common Areas.
e. No perishable waste is to be left in the Recycling Centers.
f. Bulk garbage is only to be left in the designated curbside bulk pick-up areas located throughout PCVST on the designated days. Sites and days/hours can be found on stuytown.com.
What a world we live in when a rental agent has to instruct a new tenant to be polite. Respect your elders is now an option. Perhaps all this is a reflection of our society whereas one feels the right to speak their opinions without any recourse. Sometimes a good butt kicking got the Point across.
ReplyDeleteRegarding workers, the building porters seem to appear professional and respectful. That said, as a whole the grounds workers, sub-contractors, some management treat this complex like its a construction site and us mere tenants are both a nuisance and a obstruction. How can rules of courtesy be enforced when the very workers here believe they are above the law
Just to make very clear, I am not handing over 50 dollars to the TA, though I have been a member in the past. Just the other day, the TA sent an email message promoting Dan our Man's event. Shows you the connection between the TA and Dan. Meanwhile, aside from its predicable MCI fight, there is nothing about Management and the concerns of tenants, some of whom do speak out on the TA Facebook page.
ReplyDeleteGuaranteed when Danny Boy Garodnick's illegal third term ends, he will get a cushy, fat job as a shill for the Real Estate Board of NYC or some similar landlord-big realty company.
ReplyDeleteHe has done NOTHING for the tenants of Stuy Town.
He, and the equally venal and corrupt TA, along with Bikini Babe ( NOT ) Susan Steinturd have sold us all down the river.
The "affordaable apts. and save the middle class act" was all bullsh*t.
What a disgrace!
You won't get any help from TA unless you hand over the fifty. If you have any MCI, they won't discuss. LOL
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteperhaps your one porter is respectful, others would disagree for their own building!
Most would probably call me an "old-timer," so I want to give my 2 cents on the TA, which I was a member of from the 80's through 2016. The TA was an effective organization that got things accomplished back in the day. That all changed around 2005, when the TA Board turned their back on the tenants, and became cozy with Garodnick.
ReplyDeleteDuring Dan's time as the head of the TA , which he definitely was, John Marsh and Susan Steinberg accomplished nothing. When Tishman Speer purchased the property, the only focus of the TA was to lead a "unified" tenant front to buy the property. Anyone who actually read all the available documents knew the TA/Dan purchase was nothing but a big scam.
Here are a list of things the TA has failed to address and/or not come away victorious in over the past 10 years:
1) Commercialization of the property. We now have Oval Amenities, Ice skating rink, green market, Gym, etc. Quite honestly, none of these things affect where I live, and I don't use them, so I really don't have an opinion. With that being said, I know plenty of people that have been affected, and the TA has not succeeded in assisting any of them. Many left the TA because of that.
2) The total silence of the TA when a tenant sued Stuy Town because she lived above the bunker construction. No big press conference from Steinberg condemning management, but if Dan was holding a press conference you can guarantee she would be front and center.
3) The large influx of students and the quality of life issues that followed. First, the never addressed the huge influx of students moving through bulk leases or via their own leases. I'm not going to blame college kids for being college kids, but the QOL for many many people has taken a major turn for the worse. Not a peep from the TA, and they even tell some people to contact management instead of trying to aid them.
4) The failed "Unity Pledge." Their biggest embarrassment. They put all their faith in Dan's plan to buy the place, and it was never going to work.
5) The complete loss of affordable housing in PCVST. DeBlasio's plan, which was championed by Dan and the TA, does nothing to save affordable housing. I know a middle aged couple that just got one of the $2800 "affordable apartments," and let's just say that money is not an issue for them. They own quite a few properties in quite a few places. I do like that the TA spoke up recently regarding the high prices, but they shouldn't forget that they were right there cheering on DeBlasio when the announcement was made.
6) MCI's. They have a huge process, and claim they are the only route you can take to possibly get an MCI overturned or reversed fully. Has never happened in my lifetime where it was worthwhile. They have had a few MCI's reduced miniscule amounts. So small that I did the math and figured that I would need over 20 years to save $50, or the amount of 1 year of TA membership. Absolutely not worth it. The other problem is that these students really don't care because they will be gone before it matters.
I'm sure there is more, but my main point is that it's not worth it.
STR, I can't help but wonder if the "MCI fight" is fixed and is just put on for show?
ReplyDelete>>my main point is that it's not worth it<<
ReplyDeleteYup.
You're very great str for us, you are the only one. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first year that I have not paid my membership dues to the TA. I resent their coziness with management, their absolute refusal to address QOL issues, and their meetings which feature the political bigwigs, especially Garodnick, proclaiming how great the Blackstone deal has been. They should be ashamed to call themselves a tenant association. 3:40, you hit it on the mark.
ReplyDelete3:40 PM, I think you summed it up accurately and perfectly! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteRe: 3:40PM February 12, 2017 poster.
ReplyDeleteThank you a clear and lucid, well-written indictment of the horribly corrupt and inept TA.
You make very persuasive arguments.
Perhaps you and STR should stage a coup d'état and take over the TA.
Thank you!
As in StuyTown..

Yay, today is one of the days I look forward to more than most. I have been anxiously waiting by the mailbox for our district update from Dan the Man. Nothing better than reading 4 pages of fluff that totally hide the truth behind who he really is, which is a working arm of big Real Estate. I can't wait until he goes away, hopefully for good.
ReplyDeleteIF YOU GET AN MCI NOTICE THE TENANTS ASSOC WILL NOT HELP YOU OR EVEN TAKE THE INFO ON THE PHONE IF YOU ARE NOT A MEMBER. DONT EVEN BOTHER CALLING.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter. If the TA gets a MCI stoppage, all tenants in that building are included. Unless I have it completely wrong.
ReplyDelete"It doesn't matter. If the TA gets a MCI stoppage, all tenants in that building are included. Unless I have it completely wrong."
ReplyDeleteI hope you have it right, STR, because there is something rather threatening about the way the TA tries to tell people that they had better sign their pledges and that you won't be included in any MCI decrease the TA may secure by filing the objection on behalf of tenants. Considering how tightly in bed with management and the odious DG the TA is, I can't help but wonder if this is a "fixed fight." The TA certainly has changed over the years and become more pro-management than pro-tenant. I can't help but wonder how on the up-and-up these MCI "challenges" are.
I don't think the MCI charges apply to tenants who are not longtime RS ("Real RS") tenants and those are the people management wants to be rid of and probably the bulk of the TA's membership. True there are quite a few younger, newer tenants who may have joined the TA, but I doubt their rent will be affected by the MCIs because they are market rate (even though they are called rent stabilized, they pay through the nose because they came in as market raters).
I've never heard of a building getting a MCI "break" that just included whoever paid their TA dues. Never. It the thirty years that I've lived here.
ReplyDeleteBTW, once again we see the TA hooking up with Dan our Man. Why not just make him the president of the TA and be done with it?
ReplyDelete"I've never heard of a building getting a MCI "break" that just included whoever paid their TA dues. Never. It the thirty years that I've lived here."
ReplyDeleteCould be that the more tenants are represent on their Objection, the better a chance there is of it succeeding.
Tonight when I was coming out of the subway, swarms of children of the corn crap could be seen entering the Sty. How deceptive was Blackstone when they said that they would not actively rent to college students. And the useless TA continues to look away and cozy up to management.
ReplyDelete>>Could be that the more tenants are represent on their Objection, the better a chance there is of it succeeding.<<
ReplyDeleteCould be, could be. But I'm through with paying dues to the TA and hearing "could be" to get me to join again through fear and manipulation.
Meanwhile....

7:07 you sound utterly ridiculous. Of course new tenants get Mci, it goes by building. Stop spreading lies or no one will listen or believe our problems are real. For all tenants here. for all tenants here. Stop spreading fake news.
ReplyDeleteThis bears repeating.

All past MCI Challenge results have been disastrous and unfairly applied. Individually filing Opposition to MCI is a better option especially if a good number of tenants file individually. It is not that hard to file individually and it is worth it money-wise.
"All past MCI Challenge results have been disastrous and unfairly applied. Individually filing Opposition to MCI is a better option especially if a good number of tenants file individually. It is not that hard to file individually and it is worth it money-wise."
ReplyDeleteHow much money are we talking here? Do you have to have an attorney to file individually?
You can file individually. The instructions are there and plain. You don't need a lawyer!
ReplyDeleteI LOL at the comments insinuating that management prefers or even wants the new tenants, MR. They hate ALL OF US AND WANT US ALL OUT. HOW DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH MONEY AND DEREGULATING THEY GET WHEN TENANTS MOVE OUT.
ReplyDeleteCome on STR, we all know that only the great TA lawyers can fight MCI charges. Some might even consider it blasphemous that you would mention otherwise. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can file individually. The instructions are there and plain. You don't need a lawyer!
ReplyDeleteFebruary 14, 2017 at 12:49 PM
You do not need a lawyer to challenge the MCI and anyone telling you otherwise is trying to intimidate. It is as February 14, 2017 at 12:49 PM says it is, plain and simple. The lawyers used in the past to challenge MCI charges have all failed.
