Electric Fire? Photos from Last Night. (The City is Falling Apart.)

I took my camera the second time, which is when I took these photos. And below I had to take the "industry standard" for our building. This is NOT professional work. No way.

Real Estate continues to build at such a fast pace, but the infrastructure of the city is crumbling underneath all the construction. That’s no different here, as they add solar panels to the roofs, remove walls for apartment reconfigurations, remove bricks and replace with AC’s.

Instead of focusing on the important things, it’s all about building more and making money! Who cares if the city fully fails underneath us.

Another "amenity", huh, Rick?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I was over on that side this morning. The stores there are closed for now. Work on the basements. Our TA is incredible, at least some of the comments. There is a shout-out to PS seeing the electric fire in the basement. Oh, really? How about the shout-out to the tenant or tenants who called PS in? I've never seen PS of it own down in the basements. Someone must have smelled something. I could be wrong about PS, but let's hear the truth, instead of BS, of which there is a lot.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

And Con Ed, if they are the cause of this electric fire, should be focused on and money by them to the stores should be paid.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Oh... I forgot. Seen this morning while sitting and drinking coffee at Peter Cooper:

A clearly oversized dog. No blue lanyard. I watched and thought the owner would head out of Peter Cooper. But, no, he and his dog want right into a Peter Cooper building.

Something similar I see ALL THE TIME.

Someone in Management and PS is clearly not doing their job. A lot of rules but little enforcement.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I should also add a lot of BS.

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/real-estate/blackstone-agrees-500-million-nyc-apartment-deal:

Blackstone Group LP has agreed to buy an apartment complex in the New York City borough of Queens for about $500 million, according to people familiar with the matter.

The firm sees the 1,300-unit property, known as Parker Towers, as an affordable option for renters seeking alternatives outside of Manhattan and in parts of Queens, such as Long Island City, where new construction and sky-high prices are rife. The seller is Jack Parker Corp.

The transaction extends Blackstone’s reach in the city’s rental market. The investment is being made by Blackstone Property Partners, the firm’s open-ended vehicle that focuses on stabilized properties in major cities. The fund also owns two large apartment complexes in Manhattan: Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village and Kips Bay Court. Blackstone often upgrades the properties to boost their value.

Paula Chirhart, a representative for Blackstone, declined to comment.

STR agreed that the protection should be maintained, that is also part of construction industry standards. Question: do you ever have anything at all positive to say?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Oh, yes, there are some photos of the Oval trees. The ones still standing.

Anonymous said...

10:56, I work in the construction industry, and what is going on here is not standard. If it is standard for you, you must work on this property.

Why don’t you show us some pictures of the buildings you work at that use the same protocols as PCVST?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Again, cheerleaders at the TA Facebook page, or one in particular who is mentioning, twice, that PS "saved lives and lots of damage." Okay, how? Calling the police? Having been alerted by a resident or residents? And this fire happened where? On the West Side? In Brooklyn? No, on Stuy Town territory....

Again, I just want to know the facts, you know, those nasty things that are avoided by some. I'm sure PS did their job once a fire was known. However, other agencies were involved. Please stop it with the obvious BS.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

And, though it has been deflected artfully, please remember that this happened in Stuy Town. Whatever is the cause.

Anonymous said...

It is ludicrous the way that poster said that PS saved many lives. I am sure that many called it in.

Anonymous said...

How about a shout-out to the tenant who helped Petland evacuate its livestock and who ran back to her apartment to get sheets to cover the bird cages? That was unpaid volunteer help given by someone who was humane and decent. That is what I would call "heroics." PS bloodywell SHOULD have called in the fire; what the hell are they supposed to do? They were doing their job for once.

Anonymous said...

"And, though it has been deflected artfully, please remember that this happened in Stuy Town. Whatever is the cause."

John Marsh posted that Con Ed had held a meeting about a decade ago concerning the fact that there is some major electrical conduit that runs under Sty Town to the Power Station. Didn't know that. I think that incoming tenants should be aware of all these things, including the toxic gas storage dumps that are buried deep under the property. Actually, not so deep!

When this dump was built, nobody thought too much about toxic substances, especially as it was built primarily for servicemen returning from WWII. After what they had endured over there, Sty Town probably seemed as pristine as al Alpine mountain to them. A lot of Sty's dirty secrets have come to light since then, no matter how much the various managements and politicians have tried to keep them under wraps.

10:46, my son-in-law works in the construction industry. He is a unionized, fully-trained steam fitter. He worked on the Freedom Tower, the UN Building and, more recently, NYULangone.
He has seen the level of the work here and he says it is in no way up to industry standards and it is obvious that money under the table has a lot to do with it being given a pass by DOB and it is a miracle that there hasn't been a major "incident" here involving the loss of human life or serious injury at least.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>How about a shout-out to the tenant who helped Petland evacuate its livestock and who ran back to her apartment to get sheets to cover the bird cages?<<

Absolutely. And, as you said, not getting a paycheck from Blackstone. They will/may use her for free publicity.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>He is a unionized<<

"Union? What's that?" says Blackstone.

Actually, the previous landlord here busted the unions at ST and PCV, so now mostly non-union illegals or undocumented people (take your pick of the term) do all the work here, saving whatever landlord is in charge money. Incidentally that corner property across 1st Avenue was torn down by non-union people. A condo will go up, of course.

Anonymous said...

To clarify the industry standard was in regards to the protection installed in the common corridors. It was in no reference to the quality of work inside the apartment. As usual you are taking people’s words and twisting them. Go back and read my first comment.

Anonymous said...

The work done in Stytown is shoddy, cheap and not up to industry standards. The appliances that are installed are bottom of the line schlock and the installations are slipshod. Blackstone, like it’s immediate predecessors, is a cheap, nickle-nursing dirty outfit and represents the worst of the worst as landlords, business people and human beings.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I will probably do another what's right/what's wrong with Stuy Town soon. Photos included! No BS.

Anonymous said...

Not much right anymore. The only thing I can think of are good maintenance service to apartments and large rooms. The negatives far outweigh the positives mainly due to a greedy landlord who presents the place as luxury housing(at least at those rents) and fills the apartments with students and low life transients.

Anonymous said...

Sick of seeing those dirty, disgusting moving liners in the elevator. Another lovely amenity.

Anonymous said...

If you are crammed into a one-bedroom, converted to a two-bedroom, the rooms ain't so large! I know of a converted one-bedroom that houses two couples. Tenement living, especially as there is only one bathroom, a tiny kitchen and the "living room" is narrow strip of what used to be part of the real living room. And I'm sure there are many more like that (or worse) and the occupants (who are not always students) are paying through the nose for such cramped conditions.

Anonymous said...

So there is talk on Stuy Moms about a Public Safety “Representative” getting assaulted for trying to stop an out of control biker in the oval. I have seen some minor enforcement of that rule as of late (and by minor I mean like 2 stops out of about 100 bikers), but I applaud this person and it’s unfortunate that some idiot had to assault him for doing his job.

What worries me now is that there will be absolutely no enforcement of this rule. PS is not paid nearly enough to put up with getting assaulted, so I think at this point we need to hope that those stupid signs on a pole will stop a few crazy bikers.

Anonymous said...

12:46 PM, we really have no "Security" presence anymore and that is thanks to the idiot Hayduk and his style of "management." Ok, I know he works at the behest of his evil owners, Blackstone, but he has brought nothing good to this once safe and enviable community. Tishman Speyer ran the place better than this slumifying outfit, and I never thought I would honestly be able to say that.

Anonymous said...

I agree that although Tishman Speyer was evil, they did run the place better. The grounds were cleaner. They showed their true face, whereas Blackstone puts on a benevolent facade but in truth is a slumlord.

STAND UP AND FIGHT! said...

Regarding "Security:" I doubt that we can ever really know how serious this situation has become, how much worse and dangerous, it will be in the future.

I spoke with one of the few older, senior officers here today. He is very well aware of all of the wrong, stupid, unhygienic, dangerous, unsafe, disturbing behaviors that happen in his line of vision and in his hearing every day.

He sighs. He tells me he can do nothing about it. He is frustrated, depressed, angry as hell.

I don't have a clue what the Chief and Deputy Chief of Security are allowed to do anymore other than go to unending meetings at "management," fill out paperwork, order their officers to DO NOTHING.

I once went into Security several times a week: to complain, plead, rant, rave, just sit and talk to some caring, intelligent, compassionate folks. Now, I stay away most of the time. Too many of the good ones are gone.

The remaining good ones have been gagged, threatened, warned into utter submission and impotency. I've been exceedingly surprised by both the candor and the fear revealed to me by more than one more than decent Stuyvesant Town Security Officer.

The ruination of human lives, health; of the lives and health of trees, grass, squirrels, birds - all wrought by Blackstone and their agents and minions is much, much more pervasive than we will ever know.

Anonymous said...

I am glad someone said Tishman ran this place better as I have been thinking this for months and months and months now. I hated to say it or even think it but it is true.

Anonymous said...

Sorta too many people sharing that old one bathroom crapper eh? EW eeee Ew.

>>I once went into Security several times a week: to complain, plead, rant, rave, just sit and talk to some caring, intelligent, compassionate folks. Now, I stay away most of the time. Too many of the good ones are gone. <<

I agree. I still go there once in a while, but usually for other reasons. It seems purposeless to complain, as PS is only around to give the party (read: Blackstone) line.

BTW, this evening I passed near Five Stuy Cafe. The outside performance is intrusive and only about 6 people were listening.

And has anyone heard a response from the local politicians about the R7-2 zoning? It has been a while, and still no response.

Anonymous said...

Disagree about the cafe performances being intrusive. The concerts and movies are extremely intrusive. Thought everything was over by now.

Anonymous said...

The café performances are INDEED INTRUSIVE.
When I come home from work all I want is a tranquil respite from my day's labor.
Just ask the residents of 5 Stuy Oval and 1 Stuy Oval, the buildings which abut the 5 Stuy eColi Café.
This is a residential community not a cruise ship, Rick.
All we want is peace and quiet in our homes, not some third-rate "performers".

They have music outside the Five Turd Cafe? Is that to scare the rats and roaches away? Won't do much for the botulism, listeria, salmonella and e-coli that live and thrive inside that filthy place.

The best entertainment here is waiting to see what will be the next "amenity" idea that brain-dead Rick will come up with. He really should have stayed in the retirement resort in Boca.

Anonymous said...

There have been no responses from the politicians on the cafe and Oval zoning or any other QOL issues and I do not anticipate any. They just will not get my vote when they run for re-election.

You said it! You absolutely fucking said it! I wish our so-called Tenants Association and bought-off politicians would say it. Say it to Rick! Thick as a Brick Rick!

Anonymous said...

Just to reiterate the massive presence of tourists and transients in these buildings, some of them bring down their laundry in suitcases. There are new ones all the time. This place is getting worse and worse.

Edmund Dunn said...

"How does one break a lease here? What are the penalties involved? PLEASE REPLY, HAVE ATO MOVE TO TAKE CARE OF ELDERLY PARENT WHO IS ILL."

The only way to legally break a NYS RS lease. ALL PCVST apartments are currently under NYS RS regs. See link.

http://metcouncilonhousing.org/help_and_answers/if_you_want_to_break_your_lease

"What are the exceptions which allow tenants to break their leases?
Exceptions: Seniors

If you or your spouse is 62 or older, you can break the lease if you are re-locating to a nursing home, senior housing, or other adult care facility. You can also break the lease if a physician certifies that you can no longer live in your home (for example, you can’t walk up the stairs in a walk-up, or you can’t live alone any more) and you plan to move in with family members. You must give your landlord 30 days notice (the 30 days must include a full rent payment period) and your notice must be in writing and include proof.

Exceptions: Military Personnel

If you are going into active military service, you can break the lease if it's in your name. You must notify the landlord in writing and provide a full month's notice.

Exceptions: Victims of Domestic Violence

If you have a court order of protection and your safety is jeopardized by remaining in the apartment, you may be able to break the lease with ten days’ notice to your landlord. If your landlord does not voluntarily release you from the lease after you provide proper written notice, you can ask the Family Court judge to order the lease terminated.

"What is the best way to approach my landlord if I want to break my lease?
If you want to break your lease, try to think about the situation from your landlord's point of view. Is the apartment a rent regulated apartment? If so, your landlord might be happy to release you since there will be an opportunity for your landlord to get a higher rent from the next tenant. Can you find a reliable tenant to replace you? If so, your landlord might be willing to accept an "assignment" of your lease."

Subletting is also an option. You may have to lawyer up. Good luck.

"So there is talk on Stuy Moms about a Public Safety “Representative” getting assaulted for trying to stop an out of control biker in the oval.”

This has been confirmed to me directly by 2 PS officers. Since the officer was not injured, the perp was taken to the 13th precinct whereby he was issued a summons. That summons will be on his permanent record.

The problem is the signage that says “Please” do not ride in the Oval. The word “Please” is used in 95% of the rules signage here. Soft enforcement is ignored for all of the so called rules here.

Oh, BTW, "Have a nice day".

If you live in a true rent stabilized apartment, they will pack for you, pay for your movers, and then throw a massive management party!

If you are in a market rate rent stabilized apartment, it’s either your firstborn or 3 months rent. Seriously though, it’s 3 months unless you find your own subletter for the remainder of your lease.

Saw that same girl doing laundry out of her suitcase, leaving my building with the suitcase.

They speed all over the property on the sidewalks. Almost got clipped the other day.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Seen this morning on my way to Gracefully: four "residues" of dog crap not picked up that well, so that the smears are very visible and all over the place. This is what the property has become DAILY. Dog urine streaks and dog smears, and sometimes actual unpicked dog crap. Anybody that goes to an area/community that allows dogs will know the truth. Our previous landlord/owner Robbie Speyer changed the rental rules to allow this to happen, and our current boss does NOTHING to stabilize this. There are even "dog days," and we are constantly told how dogs make someone's life so much better. Thank you.

Anonymous said...

Piss in elevator and freshly laid pile of dog shit in stairwell at 5** East 20th Street.
Smells good and looks nice, eh Rick?
Susan?
Love those "amenities".

Anonymous said...

The fucking dogs actually make some people's lives so much worse. I'm talking about the people who have to listen to them barking and yapping all day and most of the night; who walk into the elevator and find a big puddle of piss or a squishy "cake" to step in. NYCHA has better rules of conduct for tenants with dogs and enforces them better than this shit management does. We have dogs the size of donkeys here, as well as pit bulls, bull terriers and german shepherds. Hayduk is not a manager. He is too fucking lazy to manage and does nothing to take care of the quality of life here except to make sure it goes down the sewer.

I bet they were glad to get rid of him when he left the resort/cruise ship whatever it was that Blackstone ran in Florida. Lazy, inept and totally fucking useless.

Anonymous said...

Did anybody hear helicopters (lots of them) flying low over Stuyvesant Town last night? The noise woke me up, but I couldn't see anything from my window. I thought they were landing on the Oval!
Of course, my first thought was "Not another bucket of sulfuric acid?!"

I've lived here since the early 80s, but have never felt unsafe until recent years when Blackstone took over!

Anonymous said...

The dogs are actually encouraged here with doggie days and such. The barking outside is annoying as is the barking in the hall. Many residents have two dogs. They need to put a cap on the dog population here but won’t.

All my faith in the TA is gone. There was one person, who was recently elected to the board, who beforehand talked a big game about helping make change and get things done. Now I see that same person on the TA board asking people if they’ve contacted Rick, the typical TA talking points.

I do love that people are finally starting to call out the TA for their phony politician meetings and alliance with management. Eyes are on the TA now, whether they know it or not, so they better not mess anything up, although they could just blame “Peter Stuyvesant!”

Anonymous said...

I agree 10:16. I know who you are referring to, and that person is absolutely not doing what they said they would when running for the TA board. If you can’t affect change within that corrupt group, just quit, don’t pick up their nasty habits.

I don’t need to be constantly told to contact Rick, I need the TA to oppose Rick on all the things disturbing tenants that are posted on their page daily. The reason the TA is in place is to fight management FOR TENANTS, not be their best friends.

Anonymous said...

The usual dirty filthy mattress in front of my building today. Photos don’t help. The politicians and TA do not care.

Anonymous said...

Ok, so let me get this straight... Peter Stuyvesant posts about a meeting tonight that Powers is having regarding the L train shutdown. I am fine with that promotion of the town hall.

Now my question is this... with this meeting being held tonight, why in the hell does the L train need to be a topic of discussion at the TA meeting? You want information, you go tonight, it’s that simple. How obvious can the TA be about totally ignoring the QOL issues here??

Anonymous said...

I agree with 8:19. When I was told by the TA to contact Hayduk a couple of years ago, I knew that the TA was working in tandem with management. That is an unacceptable response from an organization representing tenants. I refuse to pay dues or attend their inane political meetings anymore.

Anonymous said...

8:19 AM, are you referring to the TA Board member whose heart was warmed at the sight of all the rugs going in?

Someone else heard from a management employee that management was going to carpet certain apartments.
Turns out that was some kind of cruel hoax or wishful thinking because Rick has shot that one down in flames.

I wish the TA and Rick would just go away because they are both as useless as is humanly possible.

Anonymous said...

Have to laugh. Peter Stuyvesant, AKA TA is so concerned about the town meeting on the L train. They asked people who went to respond. They need to be more concerned about the QOL in this dump. What a farce that organization is. They like to deflect attention away from the noise and other issues in the immediate community.

"Naw... Just Blackstone using film for more rentals."

They're desperate. The horrors of this place are now known far and wide and when the L train closes down and we have asbestos being carted through the property 24/7, only a complete fool with a deathwish will be willing to rent here.

Anonymous said...

The people are not coming through here to rent. Blackstone has a whole bank of schools, tourist agencies, room mate shares, Airbnb and yes city subsidy to rent these apartments. Believe me, they are not renting to families and couples anymore.

Anonymous said...

The L train does not affect Blackstone much. They will continue dorm dumps, Airbnb, transient agency rentals and city subsidies no matter what occurs with the L. These methods of filling apartments are their bread and butter and work quite well for them regardless of how the property is being run down.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>The L train does not affect Blackstone much.<<

The ferries do, and Blackstone will be waiting for them.

And once the L train tunnel/extension is finished, who will benefit also? Blackstone.

Anonymous said...

Not sure why you think all these transportation changes will benefit Blackstone. These people aren’t paying 3500 monthly to live in this dump. Just because they walk through means nothing.

Anonymous said...

The renting demo will remain the same here despite any transportation changes. Families and couples are not paying over 3500-5000 to live in this old badly run project .

I saw four obviously Airbnb groups with their wheelies roll into my building this early evening.
It is inconceivable that Management doesn't know what is going on.
An hour later I saw one of them pounding on the laundry room door trying to get in.
What's up with that??
Is it possible Rick doesn't know?
I see this ALL the time.
What does the Tenants Association say about this if anything at all?
Is this a hotel? a crash pad?
What does TA President Susan "Just Call Rick" Steinberg have to say?
NOTHING!
WHAT A DISGRACE!

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I find it very amusing that one of the flyers that the city/MTA is giving out for the L train shutdown mentions predominately "Organize and Calm Traffic." Who writes these things? A comedian?

Anonymous said...

Management certainly knows about the high prevalence of Airbnb here but needs it to fill the overpriced apartments. They may even be in on it.

Anonymous said...

If I ever find out who rents their apartment out on AirbnB, I will be contacting Management (who won't care) and the IRS (who might care).

Anonymous said...

@2:40 AM: this is why we are overrun with bed bugs. I send my laundry out because I think the outside laundries are cleaner than ours. Considering the demo here, there are probably a lot of "crabs" lurking in the laundry facilities here.

Anonymous said...

Blackstone is in the Airbnb business deep. Today a young lady with two suitcases was in my lobby looking for the security office to be let in. They have no idea who is in these apartments and do not care as long as they are getting market rate rent.

Anonymous said...

I can’t honestly say that I know what management’s direct involvement in AirBnB is. What I do know is that the astronomical lease break penalties for MR apartments makes it the only option for some that have no choice but to break their lease. Can you imagine paying $15k just to move out of here prior to lease expiration?

At the same time it is also fair for management to impose a penalty for people who want to break a signed lease early. It’s a lose-lose all around.

Anonymous said...

I agree. I send most of my laundry out too. The laundry rooms here are dirty and there are always transient tenants there.

Anonymous said...

Yet again, Peter Stuyvesant/John Marsh posts a link to something out of the realm of PCVST. Sure, we all want small businesses to have a fair chance, but what about us???? The tenants of this community????

Peter/John, you are useless. It will be known tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

12:25 PM - I think the issue of small businesses is relevant to this community. I have always shopped as much as possible at the small businesses in the neighborhood and am sad to see the demise of so many of them as the result of REBNY greed and corrupt politicians. Apart from the fact that they provide services and goods that are very useful and meet the needs of the community, they help keep the community safe. They often have been helpful eyes and ears for the police and ST Security (when we had Security).

But, if what you want is more high-rise condos and chain stores, you should be happy that small businesses are going the way of the dodo.

Anonymous said...

"Peter/John, you are useless. It will be known tomorrow."

What's happening tomorrow?

Anonymous said...

Yes, they are constantly deflecting away from the issues here by posting outside community events.

Anonymous said...

Reasonable people agree to a penalty at lease break. 3 months is illegal, disgusting and of course each and every one of those tenants will go to illegal sublet or airbnb. Pigs getting slaughtered. If management would be reasonable about the penalty, they'd have their precious apartments back in their hands and re-rent to screened tenants.

Anonymous said...

Not so desperate. Not very smart either. IF they were, they would offer decent affordable renewal rates to MR who renew. Nope, they raise the rent higher than brand new renovated better apartments on property. No smart business done here.

Anonymous said...

It is smart for them. They don’t care about the caliber of tenants and they just fill the apartments with students, Airbnb, transients and city subsidized . The market rate rents can be raised every year that way. This is their strategy. No screening, just collect rent.

I love Saturday nights here in PigStuytown.
Especially 2 or 3 in the morning when the drunken, loud-mouth braying bros come staggering home after a night out at the local watering hole.
Nothing like finding a puddle of vomit in the elevator.
Sure does make your day!
Management surely has succeeded with the "dormification" of this place.

The tenant turnover in this slum is incredible. New ones moving in and out all the time like a revolving door. Management has no idea who is living here.

Edmund Dunn said...

"soccer play inside the Oval grass."

As per the Oval regs no "Active Play".

I have seen this violation twice; both times I have gone into the Oval PS Command Center to report.

Every time I see ANY lease/rule violation, I report it to PS, over and over again. Management is counting on tenants (especially many long term tenants who are) to be docile or as the cheerleaders say, get a life, if you don’t like……move to... etc.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Ultimately the question should be asked: Whose responsibility is it? Not the tenants. (And, yes, I have gone numerous times to the Command Center, and hear the same thing: BS.) The Command Center has all those monitors and they have PS officers. But it is not PS at fault really. It is Management, and their boss. Surely by now he knows the truth. But he says the BS. Over and over again.

And that is the name of the game here: BS.

Nothing has swayed me from this opinion. Oh, I see progress here and there, but I also see many infractions. And if I protest, I hear BS from Management.

Gypsy Village Transient Town

Wanted: A gypsy or two paying $550/week crammed like sardines in a cubbyhole hacked into a former PCV residential apartment converted by Blackstone into chopped up transient dormitory housing.

https://www.spareroom.com/rooms-for-rent/manhattan/stuyvesant_town/100864384

Legal?

No problem.

Blackstone does not know, does not want to know and does not care about the identity of hundreds, possibly thousands, of transients temporarily lodged in thousands of former PCVST residential apartments chopped up into dormitory housing and illegal hotels.

Blackstone does not give a Flying F#ck about the security and safety of legitimate PCVST residents.

Regarding the "active play" on the Oval, as well as open booze display, serving, offering, and drinking:

At least once, a Security Guard (in quotes, that title, these days!) has either attempted to ignore me or become nasty and even threatening to me when I pointed out the illegal and dangerous and obnoxious behavior on the Oval.

THEY ARE PAID TO DO SO.

I was rarely out of doors last summer, partly because the heat and humidity were near unbearable and mainly because the ugly, filthy appearance and behaviors of the humans destroying the Oval had me sickened. I live near the Oval, once a draw for new renters.

ROBERT VASQUEZ is the name of the "Lifestyles Director." He is young, incredibly stupid, incredibly ignorant, an utterly incompetent and clueless but highly destructive moron. He is responsible for much of the sh*t "use" (DESTRUCTION) OF THE OVAL, including the "deck chairs" and tables, which he's thrown hissy fits about when the assholes have moved them from his assigned locations!

The bastards have near killed much of the grass on the Oval. THEY HAVE ENSURED THAT MORE BASTARDS WILL BE USING IT AS A WALKWAY AND MORE DURING THE COLD MONTHS.

The bastards are continuing Friday night NOISE at 5 Turd Café. A new, nice young Security Guard on Friday evening was informed that "because it is Friday, they are playing a little longer."

I truly believe we are fast coming to one way only to reclaim our homes, eliminate the human cancers that "own," "manage" and infest our homes.

Richard Hayduk has already spoken about the intention to HARASS ALL OF US STARTING NEXT SPRING BY THE WHOLE SPATE OF "EVENTS."

In walking through the Oval the other day, I too was disgusted and appalled by the picnicking and partying going on. It makes the place look trashy and attracts vermin some of whom are better than the demo here now. Allowing dogs and eating on the premises was one of the worst moves.

“Lifestyles” director. What a stupid title for this place. There is no lifestyle here or real amenities. The place is a dump.

Have truly horrible people living over us. Breaking lease, stuy jerks can go fuck themselves. I'll see them in court.

Stuy Town just made ABC7 news regarding 14th Street. They said some things I’m sure Management is not happy about, mainly saying that they promote this place as an oasis, but it’s far from it for most tenants living near 14th Street and management is not doing anything to help those people.

The absolute best part of the piece was an interview with a resident, and under his name they wrote “Sty” Town resident. Even ABC7 knows this place is a pig sty!!

Wake Up

Blackstone is successfully executing Speyer's failed business plan.

When Speyer first placed tables and chairs on Oval green space I posted a comment on a local blog, possibly STR, anticipating expansion of commercial food operations, eventually including alcohol service, from his newly opened cafe extending out into the Oval as far and as frequent as economically feasible. I predicted large private catered events attended by hundreds of "and their guests" under the stars or in tents constructed on the Oval.

On a smaller scale Blackstone appears to be implementing a similar strategy for commercial exploitation and encroachment on open green space in PCV, where I notice more frequent staged private social events (toddler birthday party, supervised playtime, casual mixer, etc.) attended by up to 15-20 noisy children/adults. These events coincidentally stake claims to patches of green space for exclusive entertainment (games, races, contests, misc jumping around, balloon making, serving cake & soda, etc.) A recent, nearly all day weekend event on open green space in front of our PCV residence was clearly professionally managed. If Blackstone isn't profiting from this, then just like rampant illegal PCVST hotel operations here, there is a viable, growing cottage industry openly promoting and running private commercial events with impunity on monopolized PCVST green space.

LOL.

The truth will out! LOL again.

Blackstone will now contact Management.

"Now about that news item on ABC7...."

"Don't worry. Public Safety has got everything under control."

Management absolutely allows an organized group to use the lawn in PCV. It’s some sort of Mom/parent group (I forget the name) that is allowed to bring tables, massive amounts of food and large groups of tenants and outsiders to come in and mess up our grassy areas.

They allow this group to do things that it prohibits tenants to do - tables all over the grass. Management and Rick have no shame and do not care.

Once again, they will only react when a massive lawsuit hits them for their stupidity and negligence. It’s only a matter of time before an elevator fails, a kid is hit by a golf cart, or someone literally gets killed.

Here's the ABC7 L Train construction story link:

I am sure there will be angry voices about this at that tenants meeting on the 29th, but there will also be the "concerned" politicians who will "promise" that something will be done. Something will be done. But it will be small compared to the problem.

Anonymous said...

This L Train construction is just heartbreaking. It's going to wipe out all the businesses that are left between 1st Ave and Ave B.

Anonymous said...

They need to have a town meeting on QOL issues only, without politicians. Hatful needs to be confronted with our feelings and concerns about the garbage dumping, students, and noise

Stuy Town Reporter said...

We know where a meeting with politicians will go, and there is a lot of them. Our present TA will keep the comments from audience members brief, for sure. I am not looking forward to this meeting. Nothing will be accomplished.

I don't even go on that side of the street anymore.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

You just have to pass major parts of 14th Street, going east from 1st Avenue, to know that residents there are living in a shithole. Sorry, but there is no nice way to say it.

Anonymous said...

I would not even attend. It is insulting and totally worthless.

Schmateh Sally said...

I don't mind the ugly "schmatehs" ( Yiddish for rags ) hanging from the elevator walls.
They have been there for months now and seem to be an "artistic amenity".
What I do object to is the mound of freshly laid dog shit on the elevator floor and the piss in the stairwells.
I mentioned this to the porter in my building and he shook his head, smiled, and said, "Animales"...Spanish for animals.
I think he was referring to the quality of the new tenants as opposed to the dogs.

I do mind the elevator padding. It smells and is filthy.

Anonymous said...

I often wonder how much asbestos is on the elevator padding.

Anonymous said...

I mind the renewal rates and furthermore the overcharges are illegal.

let's get this cleared up for new tenant - me! We have to pay for Air conditioning every month 12 months a year. Winter why am I paying for air c in winter? Will they service these Ac in february then?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Sorry to say the name of the game here is to get the most money out of tenants as legally possible. Charging for AC per month, even when it is cold outside, is legally permissible. So the landlord will do it.

Anonymous said...

But the management refuses to fix your Air C if you call in November. Although you're paying for it. Legally permissable.NOT.

This is not a Stuy Town thing but a NYS RS law thing. See lnk.

http://www.nyshcr.org/Rent/OperationalBulletins/orao844_33.pdf

Currently all PCVST apartments are under NYS RS law. PCVST apartments do not have individual meters for electricity expense, your electricity expense, except for the A/C’s, is included in your overall rent.

Edmund Dunn said...

Re my A/C post, it will be quite a s*** show here when effective 6/2020 at least 98% of ALL renovated apartments lose their NYS RS law status.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I defer to your knowledge of this issue, Edmund, but Management is not crying over this in the least.

The charge for Air Conditioning is an annual fee that is divided into 12 monthly installments. Remember, even when not running the air conditioner during the cold months, the power point that the unit plugs into is different from other power points in the apartment as it is designed to take high consumption appliances. Therefore, you can plug a space heater in during the winter. Those power points that are for the air conditioners are the only ones that are safe enough for such major appliances as air conditioners and space heaters. We are paying for the access to the increased consumption of electricity, not simply air conditioning. If we were metered, we would be paying much more than the monthly charge for the a/c set up.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>If we were metered, we would be paying much more than the monthly charge for the a/c set up.<<

From what I know metering will cause (?) an adjustment in our lease that can lower rates on one hand and cause rents to go up on the other.
