Home Sweet Home

Let's just hope "they" know what they are doing by putting in a new bus lane and invalidating (legally?) the cross-walk there. After all, there was the London blitz during WW 2, so this should not be a hardship. As a matter of fact, nothing is a hardship. Can I have more please?

It's as cold as Christian Charity in my apartment. Why can't these BASTARDS put some heat on? Some Home Sweet Home.

I counted ten...that's right..ten Airbnb'ers rolling their wheelies into Stuyvesant Town this afternoon.
Two couples asked me for directions.
One asked me in French, "Le Oval, s'il vous plait?"
Clearly Stuy Town residents...haha...I don't think so.
It is inconceivable that Management is unaware of this.
What's up with that???

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Home Sweet Home.... Well, I saw it with my own eyes, as I usually do and take some photos. But this time I just saw....

A woman walked her dog from across 1st Avenue and into Peter Cooper, right by the guard house. I stopped for a moment to see what would happen. Yes, you guessed it: Not a word was said to her, as she walked into Peter Cooper.

Of course, I knew what would happen, but I just had to make sure.

And, yes, we are still being BSed by Management and PS..... They know it, too.

Anonymous said...

They must be aware of it and look the other way. If they cared they would register visitors and inspect apartments. As long as the rent is paid, they don’t care if it is a dorm, tourist apartment or boarding house. That is the market rate.

Today is Veteran's Day. One may not know it, because right next to those flags is the Farmer's Market and the buying of produce. Some commemoration!

Anyway, a salute to all the Veterans.

Indeed, a Salute to All Veterans. Thank you for your service.

That filthy green market should be closed down.

Atomic Man said...

The 20th Street reconfiguration is ridiculous. There was no need to create so-called "protected" bike lanes here, there were extremely few, if any, car-bike collisions on that street to justify this. I've been cycling back and forth on this stretch every day for many, many years and don't recall a single incident myself.

As many have noted, this reconfiguration leaves only a single east and westbound motor travel lane. Anyone stopping to pick up or discharge a passenger, make a delivery, park, or even waiting to make a turn will completely stop traffic, or send it into the single oncoming lane! Expect to hear lots of horn honking, screetching brakes and sirens soon.

And, read this... https://legistar.council.nyc.gov/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=803592&GUID=A9FD01B1-E217-4AA6-BC43-5127068542F3

NYC law requires DOT to hold Community Board hearings before installing or removing bike lanes. Anyone recall this happening? Nothing on CB6's calendar or minutes of past meetings this year about this. Seems like the DOT kinda snuck this one in, as any rational analysis of the crash stats would conclude it was not a dangerous area.

Is it legal? I'd ask our City Councilman, but he's busy posing for photo ops at Citibike stations. Hmmm...

Anonymous said...

I agree. It’s as disrespectful as the bands last weekend to have the green market this weekend during the commemoration. They can’t even do something nice without messing it up.

Money and disrespect continue to run the show here.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

And, from what a sign states, the Green Market will now be open almost till Christmas Day! Nothing really surprises me about this place. Just disappoints.

I cannot stand the way Peter Stuyvesant keeps posting these inane tips like for the cold apartments such as have them reseal the windows. Instead of helping tenants confront management they stand with management. A real joke.

There are 6 NYPD and 6 Fire Department officials at the doorway of 451 East 14th when there was a suicide there. Same thing at 20th street. But at the latest suicide in the Oval there are no photos at the time of the incident. Only an old photo of two Stuytown vehicles at a doorway but no NYPD, no Fire Department. Was there a suicide or not? Anymore news on that?

All day Saturday 12-5 sound of leaf blower on rink. Now today for last two hours likely to go on more. It’s noise pollution and stress for tenants near oval. Putting a tent over rink would stop leaves and absorb sound from hockey sticks, pucks and skaters screaming. Why must it be open air? Maybe it’s time to stalk 311 until decibel level of sound in apt measured?

Peter W is probably the worst of all management personnel. He goes on Yelp and literally demeans people who write poor reviews about Stuy Town.

He is the antithesis of this nice guy PR crap that Rick tries to pull, and I’m pretty sure any normal and rational thinking person will see exactly who they are dealing with when seeing his posts.

It is absolutely NEVER management’s fault in this guys eyes. He could maybe redeem himself by admitting when wrong every now and then, but that it far below him. SPS is never wrong.

Anonymous said...

I got the email from "Peter W." What a joke! It's clear that Peter W speaks English as a second language or he didn't do well in school in the English Grammar department. Peter, that should be "we too," not "us too." A petty point, maybe, but it shows the level of education these vile employees of Blackstone have. Clearly, nobody checks or edits the garbage they write.

Here come the Superyachts. Shortly after will be the 5 star hotel condo. But where will they put it?

Anonymous said...

"Peter Stuyvesant" is posting on their FB page that people getting too much heat should contact them privately and they will address the issue with management. After all, the TA wouldn't want management spending money when they don't have to.

If you have too little heat, go get a thermometer and screw you. The TA will not be addressing this with management. Stop being a baby and shut up.

The email from Peter W is a refer a friend email. You refer a friend and they sign a lease, you get $1000 and they get $500.

It is perfect for the college demographic, as it’s free money. I can’t see many other people referring anyone to live here.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

The damning thing is that a property manager should make sure the residents are comfortable, etc. That means sending out his people and having them check online, like organized Facebooks, that things are supposed to work the way they are supposed to work. Instead, we have a property manager who is interested in BS and pleasing his masters. Yeah, there is some concern about residents (thanks for those beach chairs on the Oval), but overall I feel we are getting shafted, sometimes big-time. I don't have the feeling that anyone in charge really cares. Which means, residents are on their own.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Again, it is not the responsibility of the tenants to notify anyone, it is the responsibility of the Manager to know.

Anonymous said...

STR (8:52am) you are referencing what would happen in a well run property. This is about as far from a well run property that you can find. They try and sugarcoat things with events, ice rinks, and Adirondack chairs, but everyone knows what this place has truly become - a low class, noise-ridden dorm.

Tick, how about you stop wasting money on crap, and get us an increase in security?? If this place continues to see an increase in crime, you better believe that NYU will pull their bulk leases and students will slowly stop renting here.
Maybe that’s what Rick needs to wake up and be an actual property manager, not resort director.

Anonymous said...

Another inane comment from Marsh on left turns at fifth avenue. Why on a ST blog?

Anonymous said...

NYU won’t pull their bulk leases. This appears to be a good deal for them as well as management.

Hard to believe but Peter Stuyvesant Aka TA is having readers post positive cheery comments about what they love about living here. This is while residents are freezing. This proves to me that they are an arm of management. An absolute travesty.

Anonymous said...

How dare the TA site put up that site asking for positive feedback about living here while people are freezing in their apartments. What will they stoop to next. A purposeful deflection aimed at pleasing management.

Anonymous said...

The cheerleaders are having a ball posting their positive remarks on the TA blog. The TA keeps thanking them. 🤮

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>Hard to believe but Peter Stuyvesant Aka TA is having readers post positive cheery comments about what they love about living here. This is while residents are freezing. This proves to me that they are an arm of management. An absolute travesty.<<

I had to go to the TA Facebook and read that for myself. Quickly, I got ill. Seriously.

I guess the noise about us, the work along 14st and now 20st, the illegal dogs pissing and crapping all over, the uncovered mattresses and garbage on the loops, the speeding golf carts, the freezing inside ST and PCV rooms, the dorms--none of this makes a difference, as long as we are HAPPY.

As I said many times, the TA is basically useless. This is just one example.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Funny, the letter from Peter W. sounds in part like the request from the TA today:

So ironic that the TA is publishing this Love Sty Town posting the morning after they were criticized for not helping residents with heat issues. Are some of these cheerleaders for real?

There are some positives about living here. I think the TA is just trying to lighten the tone a bit. We can all take a break from our complaints once in a while. Doesn't mean we can't still complain about what there is to complain about.

I suspect the person who suggested the positive thread is a new board member (a lady) who is a very pleasant and positive person herself. Don't worry, we'll be bitching again in no time!

Another inane comment from Marsh on left turns at fifth avenue. Why on a ST blog?

November 14, 2018 at 9:44 AM

Because people who live in ST travel out of the complex. I thought that was a very helpful comment to make, and if I need to direct a taxi or uber driver, I'll now know you can no longer turn down 5th Ave from 14th st.

The city has put many obstacles like that in front of it's residents to make their lives more inconvenient and miserable. They've restricted turns from many major cross streets, which is the way we all used to travel. Now, you sometimes need to literally go around in circles in order to follow your route.

You could be appreciative for the helpful comment instead of constantly hating on someone. (and i could give 2 shits about Marsh).

Stuy Town Reporter said...

All Management has to do is copy the comments in that cheering post and promote this place as a "community" that is overjoyed at being here. It is dumbfounding that the little minds at our TA would help Management in this way. The TA should be ashamed. Should be, but they are not.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>There are some positives about living here. I think the TA is just trying to lighten the tone a bit. We can all take a break from our complaints once in a while.<<

Trust me. Management will use this. And why not?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

So.... I thought that Management could not get sillier. Boy, I was wrong again! I passed by Oval Study on my way to Associated, and what did I see? Management has now set up adult "toys" outside. I don't know what they are called, but you get in them and you can swing! Just what I wanted to distract me when I'm trying to study. I am so glad I am not a member anymore. Of course, it is mid-November and cold and getting colder, but don't let that stop you from swinging!

I really think now that Management is stupid. And there seems to be no one there who warns that the "ideas" they have to make more money are ridiculous if not insulting.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

One place has them as "hanging egg chairs." Management must be so proud. Weeeeee!

I'm no fan of the TA, but after all the complaining about the heat, Peter Stuyvesant has asked people to PM him/her and mention apartment number and building number and whether you have too much or too little heat. They are going to collect the data and present it to Management. I think that at least one of the Peter Stuyvesants is trying to be helpful to tenants. I suspect it is one of the new board members, not a member of the useless old guard.

Anonymous said...

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>I'm no fan of the TA, but after all the complaining about the heat, Peter Stuyvesant has asked people to PM him/her and mention apartment number and building number and whether you have too much or too little heat.<<

Why is Management not doing this instead? And why haven't they done this in years past? It's not as if this is a new problem. This is an issue could be solved if Management decided to take an active role rather than a passive one.

Anonymous said...

Do not expect TA action. They are a joke.

Anonymous said...

The TA has also had three years to work on this problem. They will do nothing

Anonymous said...

STR, if the TA is finally pulling its finger out of its ass and doing something to help tenants, let's be glad of that. Management doesn't give a flying fuck about tenants. They only care about MONEEEEEEE! The more miserable we are, the better Management likes it because it contributes to the Churn and expedites the demise of the old folk paying lower rent.

Anonymous said...

The TA is no better than management. Do not delude yourself that they are going to take action. Their cheer post today said it all

Anonymous said...

The TA is Management. Do not kid yourself and think that they have our interests at heart.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>STR, if the TA is finally pulling its finger out of its ass and doing something to help tenants, let's be glad of that.<<

As? Again, why is Management not taking an active response? Why are they waiting (if they are) for the TA to do something? Let's say the TA gets a bunch of rooms that get problematic heat and give that list to Management? What will Management do? Provide the same BS answers, which will probably be something similar to the answers we already have. Maybe release another letter? How to stay warm? Get that temperature reader? Notify resident services?

Anonymous said...

The TA needs to organize the people who don’t have heat and either get lawyers or take it to the health department . Obviously they are in cahoots with management and will do neither.

Anonymous said...

I think you are right, STR. The TA is firmly in bed with Management and managed to dupe a few people today. There's really nothing we can do. I would recommend that nobody deal with the TA in any way, shape or form and just deal with Management best we can. Recommend to everybody far and wide that they stay away from this dump. I have a feeling the whole shitty place will be torn down in a few years. Don't plan on staying here longterm because there is so much they can do with this land. The TA will not put up a fight for tenants when that happens. The TA will probably be paid to go away quietly and the rest of us will have to fight for some kind reparation for losing our homes. Just be prepared for the worse, folks.

Anonymous said...

On the TA site a young lady is saying that management wrote to her employer when she called 311 to complain about heat. Turns out it is a corporate apartment and management pays the rent. Clear as day and proven. I do feel for the young lady, but this shows that management is running a short term scheme on a large scale using schools, companies, Air bnb and yes the city to fill apartments. There are many residents here who are on short term leases paid by other entities. Once again, I sympathize with the young lady but there it is is plain writing.

Anonymous said...

I agree that we should not deal with this TA in any form. They are shady and not to be trusted. Giving them your money is crazy. They do nothing.

That may get Management to move. Otherwise, it's the same old, same old.

Anonymous said...

"That may get Management to move. Otherwise, it's the same old, same old."

Management wants the tenants to move, especially if they are elderly and paying lower rent. They are trying to freeze 'em out or cause them to catch pneumonia and die.
