Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

It was warm in my apartment yesterday, mostly because I had about 10 people in my living room and had the oven on all day. I had to open the window and that's when I heard the helicopters. All day long helicopters taking off and landing. Had to be more than a dozen just from around 3 p.m. on. They were so annoying it became a game to see who could spot the next one first. I can't imagine the abuse Waterside residents and people in any of the 3 hospitals endure for this. Wasn't the heliport shut down because of several deadly accidents? Guaranteed Keith Powers, the local whore, is on the take from the helicopter company as well as the REBNY.
Hey Keith Powers ...lets cut to the chase....How much would we need to pay you to get you to do something about this noise pollution that we are being assaulted with? Give us a number...let us know how much you took to get them in and perhaps we can beat it to get them out.

I've had dealings lately with people who are supposed enemies of mine, and others who are supposed friends of mine, and still others whom I PAY to protect me and . .. ALL of them, to a person are out only for themselves, or just plain dumb.
It is not simply that the situation with Blackstone is hopeless. Trying to reason with, or obtain evidence of selflessness from anyone these days is an exercise in futility.
This post has been stimulated by fresh interactions with, among other people, Blackstone people.
Even when the temperature is in the 50s we have to use a space heater in the bedroom. These apartments do not hold the heat. The walls are thin. Remember, they were thrown up in the late forties when building material was scarce and not the best quality. That's why there is no soundproofing between the floors.

Be grateful you have heat. I have been in both situations within the past month and far prefer the overheat option. Get your pipes wrapped or open your windows.

John Marsh seems more sympathetic to those of us who are suffering from inadequate heat. 68 degrees may be the minimum the City allows, but that is not a comfortable temperature for a lot of people. 1. Management using their legal department to prevent residents from contacting Resident Services with requests for help and services, and also Safety and Security here. Instead, you are directed to contact the legal department regarding every kind of trouble with your home, and every kind of trouble which would require Security! Legal will take some sort of message and then they will communicate with whomever/whatever about your needs. And then???
Exceptions: you MAY contact Resident Services if you have a problem in your apartment which is an EMERGENCY, and you MAY contact Security if you have an EMERGENCY.
2. (A) No heat is NOT an emergency, since you do HAVE HEAT; don't lie about it; don't make up stories. You have heat!
(B) I just read on the TA Facebook page that CLOGGED DRAINS in your kitchen and/or bathroom ARE NO LONGER AN EMERGENCY. You might receive an appointment to unclog your drain as many as five days from the day you plead for help. You most likely will not get immediate help since IT IS NO LONGER CONSIDERED AN EMERGENCY.
Please: will anyone who has been ordered by high command to ONLY communicate with "legal" about ALL of their needs here please post? Don't be shy. This doesn't seem to be an infrequent tactic.
Also, will anyone who has been instructed, "Clogged drains are NO LONGER AN EMERGENCY please post?
These new or ongoing miseries deserve attention.

We are deliberately being deprived of heat and I don't understand why. They want to go into the apartments of everybody who complains about having no heat. They have gone into some apartments over and over again and found no reason for the apartment being cold, other than the temperature is freezing and there is no heat coming up. Does anybody know, or have any theories as to why they are employing this freeze, enter and not remedy the heat? Do we have any politicians out there who can help us?
I can't believe they are saving that much money by freezing and harassing us so much. I would really like to know what the real ulterior motive is.

I think it’s because they don’t know how else to deal with the ineffective, sensor system and it makes it look like they are at least trying.
IN THEORY, the implementation of the sensor system several years ago was an attempt by Tishman Speyer to distribute heat better. IN REALITY, it was a self-serving effort to save money on heating by providing less of it.
Given the huge number of tenant complaints on the TA’s FB page, the sensor system clearly doesn’t work as intended but, probably also to SAVE MONEY, Blackstone won’t admit it and abandon the system, which is what needs to happen. Until they do, we will continue to have the problems we have now. Some people will get too much heat and some won’t get any or enough.
I have been told by more than one heating engineer that the sensor system will NEVER provide heat to everyone equally or sufficiently. That and my own personal experience of not getting enough heat are good enough for me. I don’t need to take a tour of the heating system, which the TA STUPIDLY, APPALLINGLY AND OFFENSIVELY has suggested that managment provide to interested tenants. How do tenants understanding how the heating system works actually resolve the widespread lack of heat problems?

Al Doyle IS Dan Garodnick. Doyle turned the TA over to Garodnick and just went along for the ride. He left the TA when he realized what he had done to this once great community. He is still involved as emeritus something or other. Al Doyle is NO hero, more like a zero!
