Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Goodbye Associated
There's been a lot of talk about this supermarket closing. Some of the comments have been pro and some negative. I shop daily there, mostly for milk, sometimes for the deli department. And I always check to see what's on sale, as some of the sale prices are indeed beckoning. Soon, though, no more. The store is becoming empty of items, though many perishables are still to be had. Signs say that the other Associated store at 8th Street and Ave C will have flyers, etc., but that's too far to walk for most. The Management at Stuy Town promised another similar store will take its place, but I'm not holding my breath.
Anyway, one less option for me and for many others. Goodbye.

1 – 200 of 472 Newer› Newest»Mixed feelings. Will miss the convenience but did not like the store. Managers had twenty years to remodel. Walking the aisles was a hazard, crowded with boxes. They worked in the aisles during peak shopping hours. Stock was poor and the store dirty. Did not find the managers particularly nice. That being said, the deli was very good and I feel sorry for those seniors who cannot walk long distances for food. Would love a good supermarket in that spot, but I doubt it will ever happen. A Morton Williams, Stop and Shop, Aldis, a quality clean store would be nice.
Although they are not honoring sales as per the flyer, they are giving a 10% discount of whatever you buy there.
I am really going to miss that place. One of the Managers, Shena, is a really nice person and knows her stuff. All of these employees are being let go with no severance pay and right before the Christmas Holiday. The owners of Associated are shit.
I don’t buy the excuse that Associated gave for not remodeling, that they never had long term leases. They had twenty or so years. I did like their deli section, much better than Dag’s but would miss them more if it were a nicer store. Will miss the short walk, but look forward to the opening of Trader Joe.
I think another supermarket is not going to happen, not with two across the street, though TARGET doesn't stock much. TRADER JOE'S? We shall see what they have and their prices. My best bet is a nice restaurant opening up where Associated used to be. And please not Italian. Love Italian food but $20 for spaghetti? Also, please no cheap Mexican food, unless the margaritas are to die for.
Due to my mobility issues, I take the M14-A crosstown bus down to Key Food on 3rd Street and Ave A, do my shopping, and then walk across 3rd Street back to 1st Avenue and get on M-15 uptown bus using my free transfer. Key Food is a nice store. Their prices are reasonable, the produce and meat departments are clean and well-stocked and the employees are helpful.
"TRADER JOE'S? We shall see what they have and their prices."
You have never gone to their Union Square location? Consumer Reports rates them highly, their prices are great but they are not a full service supermarket. No full service deli, all of their green lettuce variants are bagged, produce selection is limited but Associate's produce was not great either, it was typical of the type of store that they were. See C-Town. Great prices on organic apples. Great frozen selections, cheese, etc. I think their meat is meh. Long lines are legendary, they keep them going but if you go doing peak hours, expect a 15 minute wait time. On really busy days, the line begins outside the door.

Life in South Korea's Goshitels:
A photographer has captured the cramped living conditions in South Korea's goshitels, where thousands of low-income workers and students are forced to live in tiny cubicles due to Seoul's soaring property prices.
Goshitels - or goshiwons - are tiny dormitory-style housing units which often measure less than 54 square feet and are typically so crammed with clothes, books and furniture that only one person can comfortably fit inside at a time.
The rooms, which are equipped with a small bed and study desk, first appeared in the late 1970s and were used as cheap, temporary housing for students preparing for important state and bar exams.
But now, goshitels have become home to a variety of working people who cannot afford the rising house prices in the South Korean capital, Seoul.
[AMENITY] Some goshitels have a roof area where residents can hang out and also leave their clothes to dry along washing lines [AMENITY]
[AMENITY] Another image captures the inside of a dimly lit kitchen, which are often provided by the facility to be shared by all tenants. Tenants also typically have access to shared bathrooms, but there can be more than 20 occupants of a goshitel on each floor [AMENITY]
The units have recently appeared in more expensive neighbourhoods in the capital at a higher price.
Renters are largely working people in their 20s and 30s who cannot afford expensive deposits.

As long as money to be made. Don't forget, if you are served lemons, make lemonade!
>>You have never gone to their Union Square location?<<
I've gone there, but I want to see if this location, which is smaller, has "the right stuff."
I do the bulk of my shopping in Pennsylvania. Walmart has GREAT prices and plenty of stock. Their produce is locally sourced and very good. I don't buy my meat (outside of say Brats or hot dogs) there but I have an excellent meat purveyor that I hit also. When I'm not getting out of this dying city on the weekends and cant get to PA. I shop on Walmart's website. Free delivery to my door and prices much better than any supermarket in the area, it's a no brainer.
“I've gone there, but I want to see if this location, which is smaller, has "the right stuff."
The location near Union Square is a small one. Who said this location will be smaller? It’s supposed to be 2 floors and I suspect that it will be larger than the one near Union Square.
"And please not Italian. Love Italian food but $20 for spaghetti? "
Sorry your take on what current Italian food is today is at least 25 years old. I’m half Italian. You are referring to old school red sauce joints which are really just gloried pizzerias. See Franks on First Ave. Go to Eataly NYC Flatiron. I know very touristy and crowded. That being said the Associated space is too large for one restaurant of any cuisine. I see Blackstone carving it up to at least 2, maybe 3 separate establishments. No way will there be a traditional full service supermarket there in the future. And BTW, prices are uniform at all of the TJs including the ones at Chelsea and Murray Hill. The Murray Hill one is probably what the 14th Ave A store will look like, a large basement space.
"I shop on Walmart's website. Free delivery to my door and prices much better than any supermarket in the area, it's a no brainer."
Walmarts.
Guess you are no fan of Jeremiah Moss of the "Vanishing NY" fame who besides having a blog and also written a great book on the hyper gentrification and suburbanization of NYC. Why even live in Manhattan?
From JM’s Twitter feed: “Mayor of Paris uses New York's capitulation to Amazon as a warning: Manhattan has “become a huge delivery area where anarchic shutdowns block all traffic...the nightmare that awaits us.”
Just received an email to opt in for name on intercom. The entire letter from Rick is one big lie. This man is incapable of telling the truth.
“As I'm sure you know, we read the social media postings from the various community Facebook groups, blogs, Instagram posts and other channels.”— Rikki-Tikki-Tavi
Please let it never be said that speaking up against a giant corporation doesn’t get heard. STR is a safe and loud way to be heard.
Thanks, this blog makes a difference.
>>Sorry your take on what current Italian food is today is at least 25 years old.<<
Of course, I was joking. Somewhat. Let's see that place that's going to take over the Belgian and Mexican restaurants. I've seen their menu. Yes, spaghetti is on there, as is a pizza that's going to cost a bit more than Lenz's.
Folks who are willing to pay for that, good for them. I always wish a new business success, but it is hard to make a go of it.
>>this blog makes a difference.<<
I see this in lights!
I will not patronize any business that goes in the Associated space unless it is a grocery store. I am sick of our lives being ruined by these greedy, bloodsucking bastards and then being lied to by that amoral, soulless, POS, Hayduk. The man is as big a pathological liar as Donald Trump is.
At every one of these Carnival Cruise events (Christmas Tree Oval) there must be LOUD bass-heavy crappy music to go along with it. The Rubes have taken over. And they have money for this shit but not updating tenant directories?
I know. He was still making excuses about privacy and anonymity. Liar.
I think it is a great blog and a good place to vent. As for difference, not seeing that.
The selection in that proposed restaurant is terrible. Four crummy entrees.
I love how Hayduk cites anonymity and privacy on that opt in e-mail. Yeah, anonymity for the Airbnbers, city subsidized and dorm dump rotators. What a slick liar.
"pizza that's going to cost a bit more than Lenz's."
Lenz's sucks. Always.
Was just shopping at Associated. They are giving a 10% discount on everything.
Got into the elevator (in 445) and there is what looks like shit smeared all over the carpet and walls. What kind of filthy cretins are they renting to these days? This place is a SLUM. The recycling area is so bad that I am surprised the porters don't refuse to work here. From now on I am not recycling anything except glass. There is absolutely no point because I doubt that much (if any) of it gets recycled because it is so mixed and dirty. Putting glass down the chute can injure the porters when it is in the compactor, so that is the one thing I will take down to the recycling bins. I am done trying to be a good tenant who obeys the rules. Waste of time and effort.
Glad I wasn’t home. And by the way the Oval doesn’t look as pretty as it did with previous managements. Just a meh display.
The retail Blackstone has put in here is horrendous. Bicycle store, pet stores, the upcoming new restaurant on 20th which sounds unappealing, tech stores, Chipotle, etc. I have little hope for a nice supermarket or decent store there. Probably a bank, gym, or telephone store.
I have never heard as blatant an excuse lie as the one Hayduk told about taking the directories down. Every building in the city has directories, even six apartment walk ups. It is so obvious that they did it because they don’t know or care who rents here anymore.
You could certainly see your enthusiasm in the work you
write. The sector hopes for more passionate writers such as you who aren't afraid to say how they believe.
All the time follow your heart.
I for one will not miss Associated, convenience aside. The store is absolutely filthy. I've seen mice in the produce areas and along the back wall near the meat multiple times over the past 20 years. Look inside from the window that overlooks the deli counter next to the security office. Good thing (for them) supermarkets don't get health grade ratings like restaurants. Heavy coats of grease all over the chicken rotisserie and unrefrigerated bins of things like cooked bacon and chicken wings are left out on the counter for hours. The aisles are cramped and the selection is poor. I for one am not a huge Trader Joe's fan, as they have no deli counter, but between TJ's, Key Food and Costco, I won't miss Associated.
I also suspect Associated changes the dates on meats. I've purchased chicken and steaks that were a full week from expiring, then gotten them home and unwrapped them to be hit with a putrid rotten smell more than once. Perhaps because they haven't replaced their refrigeration units since the store opened.
I've always considered Associated a neighborhood working-class store. My experience in these past years has been overall positive. It is filthy, no doubt, and could be more upscale. (And it is also not big, considering.) I had only one bad experience with meats, where what I bought smelled off. The aisles? Sure they can be small, but there is a phrase like "excuse me." That said, what I want, like milk and the deli department, is fine, and their sales are great. I can't speak about the delivery department, but I've only heard good things about that and how seniors are treated who use that service. Sure, some of their workers (very few) are surly or have a big mouth, but others are nice and very helpful. The store is not perfect by any means. But it will be missed.
What about the overcharges???????
I agree. I will definitely miss the convenience and deli. I think that residents had no choice of nearby groceries around here and thus made the store much more attractive sounding than it really was. We were just stuck with it. Terribly crowded aisles, if they had a sale it would be some weird scent or flavor, dirty store, limited stock and little or no improvement in twenty years. So wish Morton Williams had gone in.
Does not surprise me.
The fruit was terrible. Will only miss the deli and convenience. So many times I couldn’t get what I wanted and ended up getting it in Brothers Bodega or Gristede.
"Sorry your take on what current Italian food is today is at least 25 years old. I’m half Italian. You are referring to old school red sauce joints which are really just gloried pizzerias. See Franks on First Ave. Go to Eataly NYC Flatiron. I know very touristy and crowded."
I've eaten at both many times: $20 for a bowl of pasta (and up). $25 for a personal pizza at Eataly.
"Guess you are no fan of Jeremiah Moss of the "Vanishing NY" fame who besides having a blog and also written a great book on the hyper gentrification and suburbanization of NYC. Why even live in Manhattan?"
If you are stupid enough to pay double simply because your address is in Manhattan then that's your problem. I'm smarter than that. Sorry if that disturbs you, but I don't care. As Forrest Gump once said "stupid is as stupid does".
I never had an issue with Associated either. Thought it was a fine place to shop.
"At every one of these Carnival Cruise events (Christmas Tree Oval) there must be LOUD bass-heavy crappy music to go along with it. The Rubes have taken over. And they have money for this shit but not updating tenant directories?"
Is that what that horrible thumping noise was? I thought it was work going on in the L Train tunnel! Everything Hayduk does is crappy, cheap and offensive. That's his hallmark. It is well-known that Blackstone has a sordid history of hurting tenants and destroying their lives and health. We are now among its victims. Thanks, TA and all the other vile scum who dropped us in this mess.
The "tree-lighting" last night was simply a reprise of the noisy, crowded, screaming-children-running-around-in-the dark, booming idiocy of all summer.
I went out to figure out why it sounded like an increasingly loud subwoofer was assaulting my home last night only to find lines of morons, knots of morons, strolling morons, morons-ignoring-their-wild-kids-all-of-over-the-place, "hot chocolate" pavilions right outside my home.
It was no celebration. It was dirty, messy, chaotic, sidewalk-blocking hedonistic crap. I saw no "Security Guards," and I was told in the Security Office itself that this was a "festive" celebration.
There were, sadly, even much older folk sitting out on the benches in front of Playground 12 as they do on summer nights. Last night would have been perfect for a 60 degree temperature drop. Or blizzard. DURING the "festivities."
"I've always considered Associated a neighborhood working-class store."
Ditto. And as a true native New Yorker, let's face it, Associated was a glorified bodega sans cat. But it was our bodega. So it was rough around the edges. This is not suburbia. It's prices were great, good deli and I never had a problem with meat there yet I have had problems with Trader Joe's meats.
I will miss this:
"Norman, the key!"
The crowds at the events are employees of Ricks.
STR, your description of Associated as a "working-class store" might lead to the customers being labelled as "Communists" by those wonderful Hagedorns over at T&V. Is the son any better than the father? Doubt it. Of course, neither one of them ever actually lived here, or even nearby.
Anyone noticed the appearance of Fairway flyers in the lobbies now that Associated is closing? Isn't Fairway owned by Blackstone? I bought some fish there once and was so sick I thought I was going to die!
About that disgusting decision to have no directory and we have to opt-in: there are two very elderly ladies on my floor and I know for a fact that they do not have computers or smart phones. How the hell are they going to opt-in? This is the most short-sighted and dangerous decision this idiotic management has come up with so far.
A neighbor who runs an AirBnB from his apartment is probably delighted.
1:37 PM - I will also miss "Pass the key!"
"The crowds at the events are employees of Ricks."
I know you are probably joking, but I believe that that could well be the case! You would have to pay me to go to one of those things.
I can’t fathom why these idiots on the TA Page are asking Peter Stuyvesant what he thinks of them taking down the directories and names off the doors. As if he is going to answer, as if the bogus fraud TA cares.
Wow,Hayduk is in his glory this month, tree and menorah lightings, songs and s’mores. Would not attend a single event that hypocrite sponsors. His quote of thousands at the tree lighting is very questionable. I am sick of him and his phony amenities designed to cloak the transient dump thus has become.
This is a youtube video from two years ago well worth watching. It is very brief and to the point.
We can stand up to Blackstone.
I spoke with a group which is offering us help, including legal advice.
It was told to me today by an experienced and tough lifelong fighter for justice that people like the blackstone horror are not as powerful as they think they are. And that we are more powerful than we believe we are.
Yet we need to unite.

Just checked my email and saw the latest e-blast from Management and I have to ask myself who the hell writes these bulletins? The sickeningly trite, cutsie language "Peter Coops Scoops" and such drivel as they tout these agonizingly idiotic "events." Does Hayduk write this shit? I only subscribe to these emails for the simple reason that if there happened to be something important that we need to know, e.g., an emergency situation, I want to know. Of course, if anything worth reporting happened they probably wouldn't be on-the-ball enough to report it in a timely or accurate manner.
Peter Coops Scoops! We are talked at like we are children or retarded!
Someone on the TA site actually called a directory an amenity. Are some of these people for real. She wants back this “amenity “. That site gets weirder and sillier.
I work with a former SPS employee who told me that absolutely TA members and groups of others get "gratuities" from Rick and someone named Peter. Not a big surprise but, at least for me, verification of what I didn't want to believe. I guess when you suck at your job as much as SPS and Beam Living does you need to "bribe" people to give you props. I wonder if Trump is part owner.
They have a "Lifestyles Director"! What a joke! The "lifestyle" here is freezing apartments, vomiting bros, shit and piss everywhere and Stalin-style faceless, nameless "good neighbor" policy.
I wonder how much they are paying off HPD to get away with the no directory policy? Would HPD cost more than heat compliance "inspections?"
>>Peter Coops Scoops<<
When I read that, I immediately thought of shit. I don't get these e-blasts, but does this refer to dogs or ice cream?
BTW, I had a terrible experience at Resident Services this morning. Are people who work there (with residents!) told anything about the property? Since I was close by, I headed there, hoping that this time I wouldn't be like an angry man. Didn't work. I don't know what to do. Call? I would get angry, too. Not do anything? I know why residents do that, they consider anything else hopeless. Is there anyone in charge who knows what they are doing without the predictable BS?
STR, what happened at RS? Also, Peter Coops Scoops is ice cream, but they manage to make it sound like dog shit scoops because they are brainless and moronic. '
Does anybody know who Moody is at Associated? Someone on the TA page said this person went home with chest pains on Tuesday and hasn't been heard from since. I probably know Moody by sight, but not by name. I am in Associated every day and am heartbroken that it is closing. I'm sure this is taking a toll on the health of all the staff there. Being thrown out of a job, with no severance pay, benefits and right before Christmas is enough to give anybody chest pains.
"Is there anyone in charge who knows what they are doing without the predictable BS?"
The answer to that is a resounding NO!!!! Some of them are absolute morons, but are reflective of the way they trained (if there is any training) and, of course, are reflective of the First Prize Winning Moron who "runs" this place - as in running it into the ground.
What was the issue STR?
"It was told to me today by an experienced and tough lifelong fighter for justice that people like the blackstone horror are not as powerful as they think they are. And that we are more powerful than we believe we are.
Yet we need to unite."
Personally, I'd rather go after the Tenants Association if possible. I find them a lot more malignant than Blackstone.
11:52 p.m.: "go after the Tenant Association if possible. I find them a lot more malignant than Blackstone." I agree with you to some extent. The current Tenants Association functions in much the same manner as the "Leadership" of many unions in this country these days --- and for quite some time. They take your money, promise to do their job of helping you and fighting for you. And instead treat you with contempt, literally steal from you (as in parasites), and have you paying them to hurt you.
I'm too experienced with one such union to argue about this dismal fact of life.
I was, however, asked quite pointedly and specifically, about bringing together other residents, whether to form a new tenant association, or simply ACT together to fight blackstone and better our situation. The suggestion seemed exactly right to me.
Has anyone looked at the short Youtube video?
I went to RS as I saw from the Gracefully window, the ST vehicle that picks up the bundled garbage that Gracefully leaves outside ignore a bag of dog shit and food remains that extended to the middle of the block. The regular guy (whom I know), picks up the bundle and everything around. This new guy didn't, though he looked at it. All the stores at that side, ST makes sure the property near those stores is clean. That is why there is a row of plants and trees that ST takes care of. When I went to RS to complain about the dip-shit job the new guy was doing, the response at the desk was "The city takes care of that," etc. I asked to speak to someone in charge of RS, and the answer from this person was that no one is in charge. This is very true, but not the way the person meant it. The name, any name, was not given to me.
STR, email Rick!
Anybody know Moody at Associated? I heard he's sick. I can't think who he is, though I'm sure I know him by sight.
>>STR, email Rick!<<
LOL. I've given up on Rick.
I was just looking at the TA fb page and see so many complaints about lack of heat (SERIOUS lack of heat, not just chilly) and ignorance and incompetence on the part of RS (who are probably overworked and understaffed) and the posters are no doubt paying through the nose to live here. I had no heat last night and this morning, but I won't post there because I've heard that Rick the Dick reads the posts (or has one of his elves read them) and then personally goes after the poster.
In fact, the TA page is becoming quite sparsely commented on these days because nobody wants to incur the Wrath of Rick and anybody who criticizes the TA gets banished.
I was tempted to post that the heatless tenants get space heaters (which I have), but I decided not to because someone told me that space heaters are not allowed here. I'm sure a lot of tenants have them though.
I also noticed that there was no comment on the heat situation from Peter Stuyvesant. Not even an offer to tour the heating plant! LOL! No wonder they have almost no dues-paying membership!
That Lifestyles director reminds me of a village fool. I can’t stand his BS either.
I agree. I find the TA absolutely repulsive.
Hayduk is a joke. E-mailing him is an exercise in futility. Laughable.
Pipes have been cold as ice for a while. (Who is counting?) This after the pipes were looked at/worked on last night. Guess that was a fail!
Oh, and "Welcome Home," people returning from work.
My heat situation has greatly improved since last month when I called. Don’t want to jinx myself but it is very comfortable. If it wasn’t I would call 311. As for offending Hayduk, do not be afraid. If tenants have illegal temperatures they are legally bound to adjust. The RS staff and engineers have always been helpful to me. As for the TA, they are the ones who will take vengeance on you if you complain specifically about them. I constantly criticized them and they called my behavior bad and banned me from the site. They WONT do a thing to help with the heat. Peter Stuyvesant is a figment of imagination. Although management reads the site, they are legally bound to provide adequate heat. My feeling is that when the issues began in November, many residents complained and 311 was called.
Curious how many people were "banned" from the TA website. Let's do a count:
1
If you were banned add one and post..
This place has become a total disaster. Is there anybody out there who has connections to the Press or News? Hayduk is a hideously inept and indifferent manager and we are suffering from his indifference and incompetence. The rents have been inflated beyond reason due to the prior rental laws, and now that the laws have changed and they can't continue with their Ponzi-type scam, they are taking it out on us by reducing legally-mandated services. They continue to put on those hokey "events," which really are an insult to our intelligence. I think they probably do pay or order their employees to attend them to make it look like there is a demand for them.
I don't want to hear the refrain that Hayduk is only doing what Blackstone orders him to do. No matter why he is inflicting this suffering on us, his name is over the door and no matter how much another "manager" would be just as bad, this doesn't mean that Blackstone should be allowed to get away with it. Where is Keith Powers and other elected representatives? Are they also on Blackstone's payroll? As for the TA, that is a sham. A toothless, ballsless bunch of nobodies. They are despicable, but the management here is worse. At least the TA leaders aren't on Blackstone's payroll, but Hayduk is. And maybe our so-called electeds are too.
1 and in a very rude and vindictive manner, simply for calling them out on what they don’t do. Told me that others were complaining about my “bad” behavior . Offered to talk to me by message, told them I had nothing to say to them. Had stopped paying dues way before that.Spoke to me and attempted to shame me like I was a child. Have not responded but intend to when they are out at the flea market with their collections.
I wasn't banned, but I banned myself after realizing that reacting on the TA board was not helping me at all and possibly bad for my health. I regret that decision at times because I do want to reply to some stupidity. That said, my last public encounter with Susan was at that tenants meeting (where so few people are now showing up that the place had to be changed to a much smaller area) where she said that, sure, PS escorts people with outside dogs. When I said I have photos that prove otherwise, she didn't want to hear it. Of course, not far away were sitting Rick and Frank.
The TA should be taking photos, should be investigating, should be complaining. But, no, they "have a seat at the table."
I'm surprised that Adam Rose and one or two others haven't been banned. They don't cuss or get abusive, but they know their legal stuff and are not afraid to speak up. If they've been harassed by Hayduk, they certainly don't scare easily! Keep it up guys! You know who you are! I think at least two of them are lawyers and know their stuff.
"Of course, not far away were sitting Rick and Frank."
Who is Frank? Or did you mean Fred?
Yes, sorry, I meant Fred.
Of course, one has to ask why Rick and Fred are sitting at a TA meeting.... They will say differently, but I think of one thing: intimidation. Unfortunately, I don't give a fuck about intimidation. I'm nice to both when I meet them (and, yes, they know who I am), but my paycheck doesn't say Blackstone. Theirs does.
"Of course, one has to ask why Rick and Fred are sitting at a TA meeting.... They will say differently, but I think of one thing: intimidation. Unfortunately, I don't give a fuck about intimidation. I'm nice to both when I meet them (and, yes, they know who I am), but my paycheck doesn't say Blackstone. Theirs does."
It is intimidation. No doubt about that. Rick is a hypocrite and I despise him. Fred came with a terrible reputation of intimidation and ruthlessness. That's why the despicable Tishman Speyer hired him. The TA has been in bed with management for years. They are disgusting.
The TA leaders may not be taking money from management, but they are taking money from residents, money for themselves. They never even pay for lawyers anymore to help us with heat and other crucial issues. They are also nasty, vindictive and vengeful. A very despicable lot. As for both elected officials and TA, they both appear to be arms of management.
I used to get very aggravated also, arguing with those cheerleaders and know it alls. I am frustrated a bit that I cannot respond, but I can post emojis most of which are laughing at their idiocy except for Adam and others whose posts I like.
Most likely they pay dues to the TA. Adam makes great points but he rarely criticizes the TA, mainly management and local pols. Although Hayduk reads it I believe that the Peter Stuyvesants have the final say in who gets banned. When they are attacked, they attack back. Attacks on management are just ignored.
TA and Hayduk work in tandem. No need to intimidate this spineless group.
I do know that one of them is still active in the TA. He certainly would not be banned. As for the others, Hayduk does not harass dissenters openly whereas the TA does even in that post. I don’t think they are all lawyers, maybe one. Their dissent is welcome, particularly Adam’s. As long as they don’t directly attack the TA, they will not be banned. And as I mentioned, at least one of them is quite linked with the TA
Someone on the TA site said that maybe management took the names down because they wanted to hide the empty, unrented apartments. Doh, no there are very few of those. Silly remark. They want to hide the Airbnb’s, transient tourists, city subsidized and 5 bro dorms. Plus, they can’t keep track. These posts get sillier and sillier.
Rick the Dick is simply a hired hand.
He can easily be replaced by a clone.
But Shiftless, Shameless Susan is truly beneath contempt.
She does NOTHING for the tenants and is truly a lackey of Management.
Hey, Susan, I hear the TA membership is less than 70 now.
Pretty impressive out of a resident population of 30,000...NOT.
Please. GO AWAY.

Thanks for the link. First time I heard of him. I would like to read his suicide notes as that could further explain his sense of hopelessness.

And there is this:
The Blackstone Group, a private investment bank with offices in New York, London, Paris and Hamburg, was founded in 1985. Blackstone is an experienced and active investor in the energy sector, including investments in Premcor, Inc., one of the largest independent refiners of petroleum products in the U.S. prior to its acquisition by Valero (NYSE:VLO) earlier this year; Texas Genco, a Houston-based wholesale electric power generating company; Foundation Coal (NYSE: FCL), a U.S. coal mining company; and Kosmos Energy, an oil exploration company. The firm has raised a total of approximately $34 billion for alternative asset investing since its formation. Over $14 billion of that has been for private equity investing, including Blackstone Capital Partners IV, an institutional private equity fund of $6.45 billion. www.blackstone.com
A very different take:

I make no claim to any opinion, but it's always good to hear all sides of the story.
The only opinion that I can have from experience is what I see and hear here. This morning, I saw unpicked dog shit on my way to Gracefully and heard the loud and abrasive noise of hockey pucks slamming.
Rick and Fred have a seat at the TA's table. In fact, they sit at the head of the table.
Again, does anybody know which employee at Associated is named Moody? I'm away and can't get in there to inquire. Thanks.
I have no idea. And I go there every day.
The heat has disappeared for quite a few hours. I guess we are back to the standard procedure, sometimes on, but many times off.
You can say that again STR! New thing, heat came up in all rooms but living room pipe was still ice cold! Thankfully, eventually it came up. Let's see how long it will last!

I don't know if this is true (even the Kips Bay deluxe movie house will be torn down), but:
"The retail space (currently with businesses including Fairway Market and AMC Movie Theatres) is intended to be demolished and replaced by YET ANOTHER REDUNDANT new medical building restricted entirely and exclusively for medical use. Rather than several neighborhood retail stores, there will be one tenant. All businesses currently operating at this location will be forced to close due to the encroachment of sprawling and underused one-tenant medical buildings. As a social and consumer anchor for our neighborhood, our retail mall is vital for the health and quality of life for Kips Bay residents."
Go here to find out more:
https://www.change.org/p/new-york-city-council-keep-kips-bay-retail-stores-at-the-2nd-avenue-promenade-at-e-30th-32nd-streets
I sympathize with them. Don’t get me wrong, but we have our own problems here. No nearby grocery store and nothing in the way of decent retail. I do occasionally frequent that movie theater but our situation here is terrible.
Join the club Kips Bay residents. You have been fortunate to have had a great supermarket such as Fairway for years. We have never had that fortune. Associated was just mediocre and now we have to trek up to 20th St. Hope it works out for you but I am more concerned about 14th St which has become a barren slum.
I go to Kips Bay Rite Aid all the time. Would never set foot in that fucking Fairway, but I've been to a few movies at the AMC. There used to be a Petco and Staples along that strip. Fucking RE Developers and Hospitals are destroying this city. I know we need hospitals, but they seem to be spreading faster than some of the diseases they claim to cure.
"The heat has disappeared for quite a few hours. I guess we are back to the standard procedure, sometimes on, but many times off."
I know, not an option for everyone but we are very pleased with 2 Vorando model AVH2 Plus heaters. Very effective and the model has a digital temp gauge and timer. It can be bought at the Ace Hardware store on First Ave to support brick and mortar stores. We gave up an adequate heat here a long time ago way before the horror of Blackstone I know, we pay for our heat via our rent but for an under $200 investment, we are in control of our heating needs, not Blackstone. They are both worth every penny.
Moody is one of the delivery guys at Associated. I asked about him tonight and was told he is feeling much better and is back to work. Of course, if you are poor and have no benefits, you have to work even if you are at end-stage of something. That is the way of the USA.
http://go.pardot.com/l/437872/2019-08-08/9r2zx4
Something about our landlord.... And don't believe the slowness of some of the major work here. It's on purpose to get residents upset about the new rent laws.
I don't think we are going to get upset about the new rent laws, but we are getting more and more upset at the landlord's deliberate reduction in services as retaliation. They can only get away with so much and then it will turn against them. They may have more money, but we have more votes. We also have the right to withhold rent if we don't get adequate mandatory service. We can make their investment worth less than any change in laws can.
Can’t stand the condescending woman on the TA’s page who is constantly chiding other posters, telling them what to think and how to behave. I’m sick of seeing her nasty comments and I bet most everyone else is, too. Don’t understand why the TA doesn’t do something about her.
Rent strikes would not work here where we have thousands of units filled with transients, students and city subsidized. Sorry but unfortunately they can get away with it. No TA or local pol help. Useless.
Don’t know why those on the TA site are so bent out of shape about loss of businesses in Kips Bay. Busy signing petitions. They need to worry more about down here in the Stu where we have crapola in terms of supermarkets and retail.
Am sorry about Ibiza struggling. They carry beautiful merchandise. When they moved in that spot, I figured it would be a struggle because this is no longer a family community. Not much market for children’s clothing and Target has taken away a lot of the toy business. Hope they can survive. I have bought a few unique and pretty outfits and toys there for children of friends. Am more concerned with local businesses like them rather than Kips Bay businesses.
Has anybody noticed an increase of being buzzed by people wanting to get into the building for food deliveries, visiting friends and simply looking for the right apartment since Hayduk the Horrible's boneheaded decision to rip out the intercom names? I've had many of them and not once have I buzzed them in, but they get in anyway. As we don't have doormen, we NEED directories. God! I wish they'd get us a property manager with an iota of intelligence.
We may have more votes but their money buys whoever we vote in. Lets not forget about Dan Garodnick and the current Belle of the REBNY ball, Keith Powers. Keith has not met a real estate executive yet that he wont bend over for. Like his predecessor he is a wholly owned subsidiary of the REBNY. He does not work for us, no politician does.
I go sometimes to that Kips Bay theater. But, it only takes a minute or less to sign that petition. That's it. No big effort on anyone's part.
I am sick of her as well. She contradicts everything. They probably do not ban her because she is pro management and never criticizes the TA, only other posters. Her ideas are ludicrous and pompous. She thinks she knows everything. Looks at all complaints as trivial. That goes along with the TA philosophy.
Why do I have to keep saying that it is not Hayduk’s lack of intelligence . It is purposeful action to cloak the fact that the tenants are mostly transients and students. That is why the directories were removed. Tenants here change weekly and monthly. For once and for all, we won’t get a DECENT manager under this company. Hayduk is smart as a whip, just hypocritical and slick.
It is only a matter of time before the leadership of the Tenants Association is indicted for misuse of funds.
Powers and his cohorts "give" money to so-called community organizations.
How about a full accounting of that $30,000, Susan?
Exactly correct 9:48. Our votes have zilch impact. They have us cornered.
No, not a big effort but these TA cheerleaders should work on petitioning for a supermarket here. I am tired of reading their comments on the insignificance of stolen packages, the joy of Santa Com, and the wonderful holiday attractions here. I just feel that the Kips Bay Area is not really our concern. They have a Fairway and are eight blocks from Morgan Williams. We have nada here. These same people have no concern for issues here.
Isn’t Kips Bay in Powers’ district? Wonder if he will fight more for their retail than for us. He has done nothing about the supermarket situation here or for that matter any issues including heat.
Not a big effort but not a big priority either.
"Clackety-clackety-clack"
That's the sound of the person above me doing her high-heeled flamenco dance on the carpetless floor.
Thanks, Rick, for dismissing my complaints.
My email to Susan Steinberg asking for the TA's assistance...IGNORED.
Thanks, Susan!
Oh, your request for fifty dollars dues...in the garbage.
Which one? There are quite a few of them!
"I go sometimes to that Kips Bay theater. But, it only takes a minute or less to sign that petition. That's it. No big effort on anyone's part."
I signed it because, like you said, it only takes a second and it's to prevent another hit to a close enough hood. The new tech center at Union Square, the destruction of the East River Park, etc, we are under attack from REBNY from all different directions. It's also in Power's 4th CC district. Need I say more?
Shout out to Management, who we know reads this blog: YO! BASTARDS! CAN WE HAVE SOME HEAT? PLEASE. PRETTY PLEASE. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A ROTTEN DAY AND GET SICK WITH FLU.
Thank you.
"Keith has not met a real estate executive yet that he wont bend over for. Like his predecessor he is a wholly owned subsidiary of the REBNY. He does not work for us, no politician does."
Wouldn't vote for that POS if you paid me.
to the 3:14 poster. who? initials?
5:59 p.m. Anonymous Poster on the previous thread, "Interview with the Woman who Screams:"
This is Stand Up and Fight who only just now read your request for information about the December 5th meeting (it is now Monday, December 9, 2019). I've posted this on the current thread, too.
Please get in touch with me at quietenjoymentnow@gmail.com and perhaps at least the TWO of us can get together and then arrange the second meeting with the "justice warrior" with whom I spoke last week. It might include attorneys (free, I think) and other knowledgeable and involved workers.
Apologies and thank you for expressing interest and maybe even the slightest bit of confidence.
Will not be voting for him again either. Does nothing concrete to assist tenants.
OMG! I can’t stand it anymore! Please tell me that the Evil bloodsuckers at Blackstone are going to go away or we are all
Children of The Damned.
Fine but we need to worry about this good which has nada
The TA site has become such a bunch of nonsense and drivel. Posters just posting what we can read in Slick Rick’s e-mails and T&V rag.
The oval tree and lights look very mediocre this year. They are usually much prettier. What goes, Slick Rick? Saving electricity. Not a brilliant show this year.
Isn’t it obvious! We are not supposed to use names and initials here.
Boy, a few of these know-it-alls on the TA site have every bit of info dirt on Associated and other things. You would think that they are Hayduk’s right hand. Know every little thing.
Wonder if Hayduk and his entertainment director will bring us s’mores, door tags, heaters and a calendar of oval events this Christmas.
We are now living in a total wasteland as far as food shopping is concerned. I'll just have to go to Food Emporium for fresh fish and rely on street vendors for fresh veggies and fruit. Target is a total waste of space. Their food department sucks and everything else it sells is just landfill. We have no decent grocery stores nearby. I'll have to buy detergent, etc., from CVS. No way will I buy from Trader Joe. Prepackaged frozen shit doesn't appeal to anybody in my family. Associated had just about everything we needed.
“The oval tree and lights look very mediocre this year.”
That tree is absurdly tall and in-your-face. This isn’t Rockefeller Center and one religion shouldn’t reign to the extent that Christmas does here over all the other religions this time of year. Glad to see that they have finally toned it down after 2 years of Christmas decorations insanity on the Oval. And, yes, I know it’s because they’re trying to save money, but I’m still glad the Christmas overload on the Oval is gone.
"Will not be voting for him again...." Why ever did you vote for that obvious parasite the first time?
Isn't management in violation of the law by removing the tenant directory?
What a joke?
I complained to Susan Steinberg about this.
She gave me a quirky Mona Lisa smile, repeated her famous mantra, "JUST CALL RICK",and then skipped away.
But not before asking, "Hey, Sailor, you got fifty bucks?"
You gotta laugh...except it's not so funny!
I hate to break this to the people who continue to harp on these things, but here are the realities. You’re wasting your breath, and your time typing, if you think otherwise.
1) Hayduk is not going anywhere unless he chooses to leave himself. He is doing Blackstone’s dirty work exactly as they are telling him to, so people who think that if he leaves they will put in a qualified resident property manager are just delusional.
2) The “TA” is not going anywhere and their sham of a Facebook page will become an even bigger sham. Unfortunately they will continue to survive with minimal members, as they still receive “donations” from Powers that keeps them afloat. They will continue to pay attorneys to keep their books and finances a secret, but not help tenants. Dummies will continue to thank them on Facebook for getting tours of the heating system.
3) And while we talk about heat, don’t expect any improvements in this area. They will probably continue to decrease the amounts people get because “the rent laws are making them poor.”
4) But not poor enough that they can’t throw a plethora of poorly attended events. The events will continue to grow in size and magnitude. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that they are trying to create their own little Times Square in the middle of our homes. This will help attract the tourists coming to nyc looking for a place to stay for their vacation in the city. They will continue to say these events are to build “community,” but that is a bunch of crap, it’s all for marketing to short-term visitors.
5) There will be no new supermarket in the old Associated space. There is no way they will ever find a tenant who will move in directly across the street from a Trader Joe’s and Target. Sure those stores may not offer as much as a full-service supermarket, but their presence alone will deter any potential supermarket from even considering that space. When Rick announces the next tenant for that space, he will mention those two stores as the reason for not being able to find a supermarket to lease the space.
Hey don't trash Targets...Pedophiles love the place!
ohhh..and Epstein didn't kill himself...
Sign up for Trader Joe. Great news.
Trader Joe sign out. Never shopped much there but have heard it is good. Am optimistic. Maybe after it opens, a lot of the mourning for Associated will stop. Don’t get me wrong, it was super convenient but a rundown mediocre supermarket with flaws. Will get my paper goods at Target now, a few steps away from Trader Joe and fruit at Gracefully when the ST market is closed. Their fruit is great. Yes, I would love a nice supermarket in the Associated place, but things are looking up. Using Dag’s meantime. Also not great but will do for now.
"The TA site has become such a bunch of nonsense and drivel. Posters just posting what we can read in Slick Rick’s e-mails and T&V rag."
The TA site is very heavily censored. Hayduk monitors it and makes sure the TA don't allow more than a minimal amount of complaining about the conditions here. It's ok to be a know-it-all or someone who makes snide remarks, is a pompous, condescending ass who talks down to other posters and always has to have the last word. Always insisting on having the last word and talking down to others is a form of violence and is a sure sign of a very insecure person with low self-esteem.
The funniest thing is the way the TA is always asking for "dues." Dues for doing what? We wouldn't notice if they all went away. They do nothing to help us. We are cold all winter, have no directories, next-to-no Public Safety and rampant package theft. What does the TA do about all that? Arrange tours of the heating plant, make a tepid request for restoration of the directories (which is something we are legally entitled to) and ignore anybody who reaches out to them for help. But when there's a photo op with our useless, corrupt politicians, THEY ARE THERE!!!
I will get my food at the best price available. We shall see about Trader Joe's. Right now, I have no opinion. I am going to Target now, but for the cheaper items. They do stock less than Associated and forget about a deli and a hot lunch. With Target and Trader Joe's, and the new subway extension, there will be less people passing by the Associated area. I don't see a "neighbor" supermarket opening up there.
BTW, the bench is back in front of Associated. City workers finished the sidewalk there and put back the bench. Also Associated is still open, but there is little to buy. Tomorrow seems to be the last, the very last day.
>>When Rick announces the next tenant for that space, he will mention those two stores as the reason for not being able to find a supermarket to lease the space.<<
For sure.
>>I don't see a "neighbor" supermarket opening up there.<<
I meant "neighborhood," of course.
I agree with most of your points but as for Hayduk controlling it completely, not buying it. Dissent is becoming less but is allowed against MANAGEMENT including himself. What is censored is any dissent pointed at the repulsive TA. I know that for a fact because when I increased my criticisms directed at them they banned me and were extremely nasty and insulting. A certain amount of dissent is allowed by posters active in the TA and dues payers because they don’t attack Peter Ignoramus Stuyvesant. As the TA is in line with management they are the ones censoring. Comments by active TA members who pay dues are tolerated. Your other points are spot on
>>I’m still glad the Christmas overload on the Oval is gone.<<
If you are talking about the "good ole days," I strongly disagree. Was very nice and Christmassy to have the fountain area built up the way it was with real decorations and not the few, very tacky large Bozo things now around the property. And it was very nice to have a speaker playing Christmas music. What are you? A Scrooge?
The pompous asses, we know who they are, are likely TA members as well as being favorable to management. Peter Stuyvesant will tolerate a lot from them because they don’t attack them. This so called organization is a complete fraud led by ignorant, vindictive, weak jerks..
I too loved the colored lights on the three trees they used to have standing. Plus the little lighted figures. Strictly on the oval. No gaudy stupid plastic grotesque figures at the end of the loop.
>>I’m still glad the Christmas overload on the Oval is gone.<<
>>If you are talking about the "good ole days," I strongly disagree. Not talking about the “good ole days”. If you read my post, I said that I was talking about the past 2 years.
Not everyone who lives here celebrates Christmas or is even religious, something which management — and you — seem totally clueless about, so the over-the-top, in-your-face, Christmas extravaganza that took place the last 2 years on the Oval and lasted for months was not welcomed by all, I can assure you of that. Christmas and all other religious celebrations are best done privately. Let people knock themselves out with Christmas decorations and religious celebrations INSIDE their apartments, if they want to, but the public display here needs to be more respectful of everyone who lives in this so-called community and, consequently, more modest in scope.
Huge pile of freshly laid dog shit by the "Christmas" tree.
By the way, what ever happened to the "blue lanyard" rule supposedly to be stringently enforced by our feared mall cops?...haha!
What a joke this place has become!
I had to go to Astoria today. OMG! Do they ever have an abundance of grocery stores, eateries, gyms and everything else you would expect in a Big City! The whole neighborhood is jumping and teeming with life! Makes this place look like the boondocks!
The Tenants Association had a "meeting" in the Community Center this past Tuesday evening.
What a bunch of pompous, self-important losers.
The entire "organization", which consists of less than 75 dues paying members does NOTHING...except bend over for Rick, of course.
Sad.
Real sad.
Drafty windows, minimal heat, on this damp and chilly 36 degrees morning.
And at these outrageous rents.
Well, I'll be out of here soon.
Churn, baby, churn.
8 04 am big ole scrooge Get over yourself.
Of course that famous bench is back. De Blasio's first priority is the homeless--NOT actually helping them, just making things "comfortable" for them. Limousine Liberal.
>>The Tenants Association had a "meeting" in the Community Center this past Tuesday evening.<<
An even smaller space than before! LOL. Pretty soon they will have a meeting at Susan's one-bedroom apartment. Your TA working for you!
>>Not everyone who lives here celebrates Christmas or is even religious, something which management — and you — seem totally clueless about<<
Sorry, you picked on the wrong person. I am not currently religious, but I do enjoy the Christmas spirit. The carols are lovely, and the real decorations are very nice. One can feel heart-warmed, regardless of religion. And it is "Christmas" for a reason. Otherwise, it would be like any other day.
Yes. Our area is the worst for retail and is becoming extremely slum like. Walking down 14th St is ugly. Upper West Side too is chock full of retail, supermarkets and restaurants.
And many homeless have settled around here. This neighborhood is deteriorating day by day.
That poster on the TA site continues to downplay every complaint:directories, Santa Com, no heat, etc. Everything is trivial to this obnoxious cheerleader.
Now the other piece of work is chiming in to agree with her.
I agree. I am not at all religious (Jewish), but the Holiday season is such a joy. The way I see it is that most of the decorations that were once solely associated with Christmas are now universal for the holidays and winter as a whole. If they went around putting up massive nativity scenes, that would be a different story.
If the holiday decorations bother you that much, maybe you need to move up to Mt. Crumpet with the grinch.
"That poster on the TA site continues to downplay every complaint:directories, Santa Com, no heat, etc. Everything is trivial to this obnoxious cheerleader.
Blocked that creature some time ago. But I get "updates" from my sources. Always has to have the last word, always defending the indefensible whether it’s Management or “Bros”. An old person who thinks that to be "cool", one must side with the transient crowd. Like the other cheerleader, I bet they have or relatives with some connection to REBNY. A nasty piece of work whether that's true or not.
The other TA Face Book "cheerleader" has chimed in on SantaCon in a major way. They both must have the same "cheerleader" talking points. Of course SantaCon is fine. It's only for one day. 99% of it's posts are pro Blackstone except for a succession lease issue. In that one help was asked in dealing with Blackstone. Such a hypocrite
Why does it take almost two weeks for a plumbing appointment to snake out a clogged drain?
>>The Tenants Association had a "meeting" in the Community Center this past Tuesday evening.<<
An even smaller space than before! LOL. Pretty soon they will have a meeting at Susan's one-bedroom apartment. Your TA working for you!
Not a fan (former member) but let's correct the record. This meeting was for TA member building leaders, not the general public. Plenty to bash the TA about but your point about "An even smaller space than before" is really not valid since that is comparison of the general meetings that are open to the public that are at the hospital now. Agree that space is much smaller than school locations meetings.
OK?
>>This meeting was for TA member building leaders, not the general public.<<
Damn! I was hoping it would be for the general public. I hope Rick was there to give his silent guidance.
I'm really really sad about Associated closing. When I moved here 25 yrs ago we still had the supermarket on 20th st near Ave B and the one on 14th St where the Post Office is currently at. I shopped at Associated pretty much every week and I will miss it. Where the hell am I going to get affordable groceries now?????!!!! Trader Joes and Target ARE NOT REAL SUPERMARKETS WITH WEEKLY SALES. Associated, thank you for your sales and thank you to the manager, cashiers and stock boys who were nice and helpful. You know who you are.
Are TA "building leaders" like those persons (often elderly women) in the former Soviet Union and East Germany who spied and reported on all residents of apartment buildings there on behalf of the KGB or Stasi? Every large residential building had at least one....
Years ago, T&V used to write about matters of importance/interest to the residents of PCVST. These days, apart from the article about the discontinuing of directors, names on doors, etc., they seem to only write about matters that we can read elsewhere IF we were interested enough to bother. Never anything about the widespread complaints about lack of heat, withholding of maintenance services, etc. It really isn't worth reading anymore.
Btw, it seems Management cancelled the s'mores and whatever event without giving notice to tenants. They did that with the dumbass chips and salsa events. Total losers. I would never attend such events, but I feel a bit sorry for the people who thought they were on and showed up. Hayduk isn't even a good cruise director these days.
The S'mors and Songs event was cancelled WITHOUT NOTICE by these fucking losers. I heard they did the same thing with the Salsa and Shit things that they advertised to be in certain buildings. I know people who showed up for that thing with their bottles of wine.
I wish they would cancel those horrible Oval events, but even with those it wouldn't be right to not send out notices of cancellation. I wish they would run out of money for these unwelcome-by-most shitty "events." But then, maybe they have. If they can't afford names labels on doors and we have to buy gallons of Draino and Liquid Plumber because they won't unclog a backed up tub or sink without putting you on a waiting list, then they are desperately in need of money. Not. When it comes to names on doors, anybody can buy a sticky label and put up their own.
Unbelievable! They are crying about the cancellation of s’mores night on that TA page. Loonie tunes. Hayduk has them brainwashed.
Oh Horrors. The rube of all rube events was canceled according to cheerleaders on the grimy TA page. Tenants actually invited their friends to this major Slick Rick event. They are devastated. Get your own marshmallows and graham crackers rubes. Oh, I forgot they will not have the songs. It is Songs and S’mores night.
I want my S'mores and more, and salsa and chips! Pleaseeeeee!.... Oh, Rick, where are you!
I do not feel sorry for those tenants who showed up for the stupid event. They are the ones who attend these terrible events and push Hayduk for more so he can justify them. No, I do not feel sorry.
Don’t worry cheerleaders. Rick will reschedule so that you can sit at the stypit and sing songs while roasting marshmallows. Your big night out freezing outside will happen.
In Florida
Rick will use the two or three cheerleaders to justify his s'mores event. "The residents want it back!" BS.
Ebeneezer Hayduk, how dare you disappoint your loyal followers. You must make it up to them. Maybe some extra heat, a cut in rent or perhaps an oval hootenanny.
Where the hell am I going to get affordable groceries now?????!!!
Both Amazon and Walmart will deliver most of your needs to your door for less than you paid at Associated.
Deliveries? But you have to be around and pay a tip?
I just had a visit from maintenance regarding my lack of heat. 20's last night and no heat. Basically, what I got from them (very nice and professional) was that Blackstone doesn't give two shits about our comfort as long as they are providing the bare legal mimimum:my words, not theirs but they concurred. I already have one space heater but I guess I'll need to buy one more. Obviously, it's much more cost effective for Blackstone to burn electricity as opposed to providing us heat.
I give Blackstone a complete pass regarding all of this. I don't expect anything more from a predatory landlord. My vitriol is reserved for the entities who let them into our lives: The Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association and little dan (and of course a big thank you to Big Bird de blasio).
What a dump we all live in.
" Anonymous said...me those persons (often elderly women) in the former Soviet Union and East Germany who spied and reported on all residents of apartment buildings there on behalf of the KGB or Stasi? Every large residential building had at least one...."
You are taking out of your ass. We have always had building leaders since way back in the good old days of MetLife. They used to distribute the bulletins from the TA in the days before everybody had internet. They attend the meetings to bring up whatever issues they think Management should address. Of course, Management just bullshits them the same as it does to individual tenants. My building leader is a youngish gentleman, an actor and very much on the side of the tenants. Building leaders are not working for the Stasi and meet to report who they think should be sent to the salt mines. They advocate FOR tenants, not against us.
As much as I loath Rick and the shitty events he things up, I do feel sorry for the people who are let down when these things are cancelled with no notice. Hayduk and his crew have absolutely no manners, no class and no empathy.
Rick is a damn LIAR when he claims this is not a student dorm. He thinks we are all as stupid as he is sleazy and incapable of telling the truth. He's the perfect person to represent Blackstone though, because Blackstone is one of the sleaziest and vilest companies in the world. I hope they get their comeuppance and I hope it really, really makes them suffer.
Deliveries? But you have to be around and pay a tip?
If you're referring to Amazon and Walmart no tip necessary. They ship via UPS and FedEx. Its left at your door.
"Ebeneezer Hayduk, how dare you disappoint your loyal followers. You must make it up to them. Maybe some extra heat, a cut in rent or perhaps an oval hootenanny."
I'll take the extra heat over anything else!
Although I would never attend one of those events, I feel sorry for the people who were planning on going and were taking their children to them. I think it was despicable that Management didn't send a text apprising them of the cancellation.
On the subject of texts, I don't think they have the sharpest knives in the drawer sending them out. I have been warned a couple of times that water would be going off in my building, but it didn't happen. Probably happened in another building where the people got no notice.
If Management really wants to save some money, they should fire that Valesquez idiot "Lifestyle Manager." He's a complete idiot. He should pack up his Adirondek Chairs and go back to whatever nursing home he used to work for.
Our favorite obnoxious cheerleader just responded to an article that likens the Sty to a small town or college campus. She claims she never thinks of it is a college campus. Is she kidding, is she living here? My building is over half students. Cannot stand her comments anymore.
>>If you're referring to Amazon and Walmart no tip necessary. They ship via UPS and FedEx. Its left at your door.<<
Left at the door? One hopes!

I may know our Building Leader. May. But this building leader does nothing aside from handing out TA messages which are printed. That's it.
And again. There should be a yearly accounting of where the TA money goes and how many current dues-paying members there are. Why is that not forthcoming? Does one have to go to court to get this information? Susan? Our building leader? Anyone that is part of the TA?
Building managers today work for that despicable body called the TA. No issues are confronted. Bring up, bring up, big deal. NOTHING IS ADDRESSED. There is NO ADVOCATION for tenant anything. Read the above post regarding lack of heat. I see building reps as naive or ignorant.
